It’s a nice very light leather scent. Unfortunately on my skin it is almost gone in less than 2 hours. I need to over spray it if I want Cuir Molinard to project. I really need to rub my nose on the skin to smell Cuir after the 2 hour mark. Good fragrance but super fleeting.

I got this directly from Molinard in a clear glass cylindrical bottle.
I agree with afterdark; the “lighter” top notes are gone almost instantly and after that you’ll be accompanied by leather and oud. It’s VERY smoky and elegantly animalic. It doesn’t veer into full-on barnyard mode at any point, but it certainly isn’t a prim and proper suede handbag either. I admire the way Molinard handles oud in Cuir. I tend to struggle with that note, but in this case smoky oud is the backbone of the fragrance without smelling sickening, fecal, medicinal or artificial. I think the leathery aspects of oud were utilized to a great degree when the leather note in this perfume was being created. It smells really good!
I’ll get ready to duck for the rotten tomatoes, but if my memory serves me right, it bears a fleeting resemblance to Armani Prive Oud Royal. That one is a lot heavier (which is not to say that Cuir is feeble), but the oud in OR is also relatively clean and leathery and the saffron is quite prominent. Speaking of comparisons, Cuir doesn’t bring either Ambre Russe or Cuir Ottoman into my mind at all, and it definitely isn’t similar to the hideous Monotheme Leather.
The leathery oud subsides in the late drydown and the fragrance becomes more sweet and gentle. Amber and saffron are taking the center stage and that spicy sweetness is very comforting.
Totally unisex, but maybe not for extremely girly girls. Longevity is about average, moderate projection. All in all, nothing groundbreaking, but it’s a quality fragrance with a reasonable price.

@ ptilda & adrien99 FYI: purple bottles (30 & 75 ml) are for the release in the Elements collection and the mainstream perfume shops, the cylindrical bottles (30 & 90 ml) in clear glass, refillable, are for Molinard’s website and shops (Nice, Grasse and now Paris, rue Bonaparte), large refill bottles (250 & 500 ml) are sold regularly on M’s website and in their shops.

Just warm yourself up to this beauty gently, it’s moderately sweet, and a perfect blend of oud, leather, saffron and amber. Lovely.

Well, you get what you pay for. Really straightforward, un-complex leather tending very slightly to the rawer side rather than just super smooth suede. There’s a little sweetness from the lavender and amber notes but it really is what it says on the tin /bottle: just leather, pure tannic leather. Not the most sensuous or the roughest, and not the most long-lasting, either; for me it’s pretty much over within 3 hours. This is so reasonably priced, though, that the only obstacle to regular sprays would be not wanting to carry it around.
It’s really pleasant, just – for my taste – not the equal of a bunch of more characterful leathers (Evody Cuir Blanc, Lutens Daim Blond or Cuir Mauresque – or even Fendi Leather Essence) – at price points both above and below it.

This is not similar to TL at all nor to any other of those scents mentioned above.
Forget bergamot, lavender and stuff as they are briefly noticeable at the beginning and disappear after a few minutes. This scent is all about leather, saffron, oud and amber. Its rather sweet and i think the sweetness is caused by saffron which is prominent in this one. Its a very classy kind of sweetness though which i enjoy. The combination of saffron, oud and leather can produce kind of a booziness and this scent has a warm boozy vibe. I think except of the hot summer days, it can be worn in any other weather condition.
I see similarities to CH Men Prive minus the grapefruit.

It was a blind buy and i like it a lot.
I was not expecting to get so much smokyness – at least for me it is the very strong note, but I like it. The only thing that annoys me is the hint of citrusy-lemon thing at the beggining. Longevity is pretty decent.
One of the best things you can get at such low price.

I was hoping for something traditionally French like a Russian leather or even a faint nod to Habanita but this is far from that kind of leather.
It’s a modern leather, an Eastern leather that is really more of a spicy, boozey oud in fact. The nutmeg and pepper are sharp and hot to open and the oud is there from the outset. A sweet syrupy synthetic oud. There is a sense of saffron but it doesn’t add much character just a little more spicy sweetness and generally there is nothing floral about this.
The lavender peaks out here and there in its powdery aromatic (always reminding me of air freshener) way. Indeed the is a bit of leather behind all of this that is soft, powdery and more what I expected but overall the other notes are a little sharp.
This would be an easy masculine and bold feminine.

I’m very intrigued by this one so had to check Molinard website. The bottle shapes and naming are indeed confusing, there’s Cuir and there’s Leather. Apparently Leather is a refill bottle. This eludes logic but then uhm zeefrenchhhies 🙂

Got a similar vibe than bentley for men intense maybe a bit toned down though. Mysterious heavy powdery warm concoction. Really reminds me christmas time. Looks like a winner here

I believe that this is repacked and sold on the Molinard site under the name “Leather,” and in the cylindrical bottles. I have yet to confirm that with Molinard. But the stock photos of those bottles say “Cuir,” so it would make sense.
While I’m sad to miss out on these gorgeous purple bottles, I’m glad the fragrance still appears to be available.
Now to get my nose on it!
