Description
Known for the collection dedicated to leather, David Jourquin launches two new fragrances inspired by tropical summer aromas combined delicately with accords of leather and packed in characteristic flacons covered in soft leather. The collection of David Jourquin was also presented at the perfume expo Esxence, with a focus on the new editions to mark the year of 2015.
CUIR CARAIBES arrives in a flacon covered in blue color leather. The composition opens with a luminous union of bergamot, citruses and green mango, which sweeten gently the floral heart created of white flowers, Jamaican pepper and ginger. The composition is enriched with woody notes of vetiver, guaiac wood and patchouli in an embrace of hot shades of leather and amber. Fragrance Cuir Caraibes was created as a memory of childhood spent on the beaches of Guadalupe, dancing around bonfire, burnt wood, rum and sparkling waves…

OK, so this isn’t my thing but since there’s no other review, I’ll do my best.
It opens with an interesting burst of mango and spices. I’m not sure the mango and spices really went together and the spices seemed reminiscent of masculine fougere type things. This didn’t last long before the leather showed up. The middle, I didn’t enjoy. It struck me as an aromachemical sketch of a fragrance rather than a full bodied fragrance. So, I was surprised when the drydown settled into a beautiful fruity leather that kept getting sweeter with time.
It started out masculine, went through a difficult adolescence and settled into a sweet, feminine middle age.
