The Art of Love, a new collection from By Kilian, launches for Valentine’s Day of 2014 exclusively for the Russian market. The collection includes four new fragrances inspired by love, desire and passion: Killing Me Softly, Dangerously in Love, Kisses Don’t Lie and Criminal of Love. All of the above compositions are built around the ultimate symbol of love – rose. Each fragrance comes with a sexy and provocative gift intended for “adult games “.
Criminal of Love comes with satin cuffs. The fragrance is a bit masculine, containing notes of Turkish rose, patchouli and Somali incense. The gift you get with this edition is satin cuffs.
The bottles represent a modern interpretations of Faberge egg
The nose behind this fragrance is Dorothee Piot.

Once again I ordered a sample of this from the decant shop and fell in love with this true gem from Kilian. It’s no shocker that kilian has mastered the art of making some of the best Gourmands but this isnt a gourmand and has the presentation to bag it up. It does seem like it could be a gourmand because it’s got a big red gum vibe that is so intriguing. I once again wanted to have more of this so I ordered a 12ml from Universal Perfumes and Cosmetics soon to be (nicheperfumeoils.com) and so glad I did because they are identical in scent but the oil is very strong, smooth and last longer. Glad I found this gem and a place to supply me with my addictions at a fraction of the cost.

Smells like a synthetic mess at first but after a few minutes the pipe tobacco & incense begins to soften up a little & the rose starts to take center stage & it becomes a little more tolerable but definitely not my cup of tea. It smells identical to the cheap “new car scent” air freshener trees you hang in your car but once the dry down kicks in its not all that bad.. still not worth the hype/price… SAMPLE BEFORE YOU BUY!

When I was young and a smoker, I used to roll my own and keep the Canadian Tobacco moist with an Apple slice. That scent memory flashed through the brain cells as I sniffed the spritzer.
On application Whoa!!
Another memory. Scent of the Premium Booze drinking, Salty Tobacco chewing, Slick dressing, Gangster leader in our area. His car smelled as if it had been scrubbed with Chlorinated something. My thoughts were then that he had performed some of his Lethal work in that Maserati.
That memory leads me to believe that the scent was created for a character not unlike Ian McShane played (Teddy Bass) in Sexy Beast. Reptilian and Deadly.
It’s real charm is in the wafts of strange moldiness that adds that strange sense of bygone danger.
Pass me the Balenciaga Pour Homme please.

I fell in love with this scent at Moscow airport, but didn’t buy it straight away, because I thought I’d be able to get it in London. When I found out it was a Russia exclusive, I went to great lengths to get my hands on a bottle. By the time I got it, I nearly forgot what the scent was like and wasn’t sure if I’d still like it.
But as soon as I tried it, I knew “like” wasn’t a strong enough word.
This is a stunning scent, starting with hints of gourmand notes and maturing into something sensual, warm and spicy. with slight tobacco notes. One of my recent favourites, more of a evening/night scent than a day one, but it goes well with my personal style, so I wear it all day long.

Scent – rose tobacco, saffron, incense & patchouli.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one all year round, day or night.
Projection – I did get noticed, it garners compliments.
Longevity – I get 8hrs consistently.

This starts off with a rich dose of dark rose, patchouli, tobacco and incense.. On my skin, the tobacco stands out the most and stays the longest, which i enjoy a lot! It reminds me of Fumerie Turque with the sweetness of honey.. There’s not much development of the scent, however, the staying power and projection are above average.. Easily one of my recent favorites, it’s really blended well to perfection!

البداية صراع غير مسبوق ما بين الزعفران والهيل ولكنه بلا غلبة واضحة
تدخل الورد التركي شديد الفوحان كان من الممكن أن يجعل العطر مبتذلا نمطيا لولا تدخل البردي وأخشاب السيدار المدخنة لتقييد عنفوان وسيطرة الورد
النوتة البخورية سرعان ما ستدعم هذا التقييد للورد التركي وستدخل العطر إلى عالم من الغموض سرعان ما سينكشف عن ظهور التبغ السويتي بعض الشيء الغير لاذع المدعم بجورماندجية زهرة الأمورتال “الخلود”
وفي النهاية يظهر الباتشولي دون انقطاع لجعل العطر أكثر رصانة
لئن كانت السرقة جريمة … فلقد سرق العطر عقلي ووقتي
ولكنه فعل ذلك بمنتهى الحب
جمال الرائحة: 9.5/10

Or tabacco fragrances are not mine, while I think that Fumerie Turque is more complex and interesting. Or Killian is not mine. I don’t know. I don’t like it as a whole line.

probably the least fave of the collection…it’s a spicy-woody scent with a muted rose. not much sweetness and even less floral. i think this one is a little misdirected; the rose needed to be MUCH bigger and the other ingredients are a little too dominant. as such, it comes across as too basey without enough top or middle, rendering it a little hard to appreciate.
may warrant a follow-up try, however…

I felt a bit sceptical about the Russia exclusive especially after the house of Kilian latest releases being in my opinion nothing but just poor ! I didnt found any favourites since Back to Black, Cruel Intentions , Liaisons Dangereuses and Incense Oud. I did loved the names of the In The Garden of Good & Evil ex Playing with The Devil or Good Girl gone Bad such a great names.. but the scents itself wasnt something i would run and purchase. After being curious about the Russian Exclusives and picked up my favourites on fragrantica in that order : Criminal.. , Dangerously.. , Kisses and Killing I got a chance to purchase samples from the amazing Simone. Once they arrived i went to sample all of them in that order i made on this site curious how do they meet my expectations ! I was surprised that the 3 first of them and in the same order meet exactly my expectations 100% ! Especially the Criminal which i own now is truly a unique masterpiece! It reminds me off Black Ebony by Bella Bellissima house! The scent opens with an amazing combo of incense, rose and papyrus. The opening is supported by cardamom and saffron in a short moment and followed with huge overdose of incense papyrus rose and some patchouli. The dry down its supported by a pinch of tobacco making this even better.
