I blind bought this scent in the Smell Bent garage sale in June. I get a lot of dusty, dark rose and a dark, strong patchouli from this. The patchouli is stronger than I expected, it overpowers the rose a little bit. I think I can almost smell the cocoa powder, it’s just kind of a dustiness throughout. I like this scent and I would wear it except that I seem to be allergic to one of the ingredients in it. I’ll have to pass it on to a friend.

It’s so gorgeous. I risked a blind buy on this and am glad I did; I was a bit afraid it would smell like Gres Cabaret as others have said. It doesn’t, to me. Cabaret had a weird note on my skin, like garlic or pickles. Cocoa Rose absolutely does not. It’s a soft, light version of a sexy Juliette Has a Gun-style patchouli rose, or L’Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses. Like other people, I am not sure I smell any cocoa in this. I think I do detect the clove note, and I love it. So far I’ve liked every fragrance I’ve smelled from this house!

To me it smells of a raw unrestrained rose coupled with a big patchouli note with hints of chocolate. I also get a smoky woody vibe from it which could be due to the cloves. Overall, its a nice perfume but projection could be better.

I tried hard to smell the cocoa in this. On Valentine’s Day I wore Mancera Roses & Chocolate and failed to find any roses hidden in the melted milk chocolate syrup. But here with Cocoa Rose by Smell Bent, it was the exact opposite. I could not detect even a hint of chocolate. On me it was very much a patchouli rose in the style of Gres Cabaret (but not as lovely or nuanced).

So glad to see the Frankensmellies with their own pages! This is a lovely rose, not heavy or thick. It actually took awhile to grow on me; I kept coming back to my sample, enjoying it more each time. The patchouli support is clean and doesn’t bite. I wish I smelled the cocoa a bit more; a dustiness is there, I just want more chocolatey. The cloves are absolutely lovely, spicy and warm. The blending is deceptively magnificent. Green at first, quickly becomes soft and powdery, but never really giving in to a dry sensation. As a “not necessarily a rose fan” this is my favorite rose-centric perfume. The sillage is just off the skin. Lasts upwards of 6 hours.
