Description

Marc Jacobs presents a new collection of refreshing colognes of the Splash series, inspired by juicy cocktail drinks. Cocktail Splash Collection, limited to summer 2011, features three fresh tropical fragrances: Curacao, Ginger and Cranberry.

Ginger is inspired by the summer passion fruit cocktail, a tasty and alluring contrast of warm and cold, icy and spicy notes. This mix starts with sparkling notes of fresh ginger, coriander and cognac. The heart contains Bourbon geranium, passion flower and rhubarb, laid on the warm sandalwood and musk. The composition is signed by perfumer Yann Vasnier.

It is available as 300 ml eau de cologne.

Ordered this for me but I think I’ll stick it on my hubs frag shelf. I like how refreshing and juicy it is so I will wear it too but the bottle is huge. I get so much ginger which I like and a little pepper which contributes to the slightly masculine feel. I get no rhubarb maybe a smidge of sandalwood but very light. The drydown fades rather fast on me leaving my skin with an almost sour note. Will be good on the hottest days of summer

    Fresh, spicy, invigorating GINGER!
Androgynous but sexy, crisp like the creases on a very butch woman’s trousers, a la 1950s chic. Not dry, a wet juicy ginger, fresh, slighly sour, boozy, languid. Pink, moist ginger slices, in a bath of tart key lime juice, with a musky base.

Love! Terribly disappointed that this fragrance has been discontinued, it is truly fabulous boozy ginger joy. Will be replacing Origins’ ginger essence as my new favorite in this scent family. Must find on ebay! 🙂

I love ginger, so yep, I love it. It’s invigorating, simple, and I don’t get tired of sniffing it – what more could I ask? Fresh cut ginger opening and a light soapy finish, very office friendly. If I see it at TJ Maxx like another reviewer did, I’m going to be all over it!

Very pleasant, crisp, fresh, happy. Would be ideal in the hot climate, but, as other reviewers stated before, evaporates too quickly.

Just discovered this at a great price from TJ Maxx. It smells almost exactly like Fresh Citron de Vigne. Very subtle & light. Not my main fragrance but I hope to find this again someday. I know it’s a limited edition.

Ginger! Ginger! Ginger! It is fresh, spicy, mildly peppery and lightly sweet. It is one of my favorite MJ Splashes. Doesn’t last too long, but that’s fine by me as you can douse yourself and not be overpowered. This is one that I wish wasn’t limited edition, it is just great.

Just purchased the large bottle for a steal of a price, regardless, the scent just opens right up with ginger and finishes with some notes of spice. It isn’t very long lasting as stated by some Fragranticans, but the ginger stays with you. Love the clean linear look of the bottle so it’s a win in my book.

Marc Jacobs GINGER is a minimalist ginger cologne which initially reminded me a touch of Bond no 9 NEW YORK FLING, until I compared them side-by-side and found that the Marc Jacobs composition is much simpler and apparently totally devoid of floral and green elements. Passion flower is listed among the notes, but on my skin and to my nose GINGER offers a very light layer of…ginger!
It smells very clean and fresh, and I really don’t have a problem with the poor longevity, because it comes in a jug and serves its primary purpose quite well: as a quick and clean scented source of refreshment!
So far I have to say that I am happy with the Marc Jacobs Splash collection. What I don’t understand is why the company would decide to issue such heavy (and attractive, I might add…) bottles filled with (gasp!) 300 ml of juice! I remember the first tme I encountered one of these: I was on vacation in Puerto Rico, the bottle was of AMBER, and I could not believe the price, especially since I had discovered the original MARC JACOBS and ESSENCE and BLUSH and liked them all. I ended up not buying the bottle at the time, however. Why? Because it was too heavy and clunky to pack in my bag!

Not much more I can add to what has already been said. This is freshly cut ginger and a hint of crisp rhubarb. The coriander adds a little spice, and the florals play a minimal role. This fragrance is spicy, unisex and fresh. As it dries down, it becomes a little sweeter and juicier. The staying power is better than some of the others in the Splash series, but still doesn’t last that well. This scent is unique, and I do love the idea of a fragrance that smells strongly of freshly-cut ginger root. Although I really like it, I don’t know if I’d purchase it. If it came in a smaller bottle/more concentrated version, I would happily add this to my collection. As it is, this just seems like an expensive body mist…even though it is a delicious one.

fresh and clean but long lasting too, a very nice feeling using that one, but seems this was a limited edition only…

I agree with everything that has been said about this perfume/splash. It IS divine, it doesn’t last long on the skin but has real staying power when its sprayed in the hair or on clothes, and it is fresh to the point of being effervescent. I also get a sense of ozone/aquatic that intensifies during the drydown, but does not sacrifice the ginger in the process. Perhaps the ozone/aquatic effect is from the rhubarb and the *crystalline* musk? In any event, I am a HUGE fan (loves me mah ginger!) and am particularly happy for the large 10oz bottle. I’m anxious to try MJ Fig, Cucumber, and Pomegranate splashes as well.

I love the opening of this! Sweet, gingery, and still somehow fresh. It has a soapy finish, though, and very, very poor longevity even for an eau de cologne. It lasts about 30 minutes on my skin.

Ginger and more ginger for the first few minutes, freshly peeled! It doesn’t smell sugary to me, just fresh and spicy. Soon after that, the scent fades into a nice rhubarb and some indefinite flowers, after which it promptly disappears leaving behind a hint of freshness.
The whole experience doesn’t last longer than 15 minutes on my skin, much better on clothes, but that really is not an issue considering it comes in gallon size. The problem is that the bottle is so heavy and huge, it’s a workout in itself to hold it and spray it.
Nevertheless, this is a great cologne for hot summer, for the gym and for refreshing your beddings! I recommend decanting it into smaller quantities so you can carry it with you, and refresh any time you wish, since it’s got very poor lasting power. But it’s a new scent for me, and I find it different and very refreshing. Can easily go on a young man too, or on a sporty lady.

Why doesn’t anyone mention the massive passion fruit explosion?! I can’t be the only one feeling it.. The first minutes this is a peppery ginger. Yes. And then as it dries, there goes ginger and heeeello passion fruit! Really sugary and fruity, but not gourmand in any way. I love this! So refreshing and tangy!

I liked this, a very refreshing ginger, sweet and biting together.Great for hot weather. But I don’t get much besides ginger either.

My favourite from the new trio.
I only get ginger – fresh, bright, slightly tart and acid.
Great for summer! But why the huge bottle?
It really puts me off. It’s always the case with Marc Jacobs’ splashes.
I could never use that much of a cologne that smells just of ginger.
Still, a very nice scent 🙂
They should sell it in maximum 100 ml bottles for maximum 20 euro.
