My favourite from Esteban range – quite traditional, old school perfume. Strong, bit masculine, dry, herbal…

This is very weird. Classic Chypre was pleasant at first and a bit familiar to me. Heavy on patchouli and sweet, fresh notes. And then I got it – Eau de Star, 1 in 1 on me. I in other hand expected something quite different. It seems less stronger than star, so it can serve as alternative if Eau de Star doesn’t sit properly on you.

Esteban CLASSIC CHYPRE opens as more of an aromatic green than a floral chypre. There is also an oriental aspect to this composition, since some unidentified “spices” do emerge briefly right after the greenish opening. However, although vanilla is listed as a note, I do not detect it, and this perfume is not the least bit sweet.
The drydown is definitely, as advertised, a classic chypre, with the undeniable and dominant presence of a murky moss note, identified in the ingredient list on the manufacturer’s card as “Ervenia Furfuracea extract”. CLASSIC CHYPRE has good longevity and sillage, typical of classic chypres, and chypre (especially moss-heavy chypre) lovers should give this savory creation a sniff.
