Description

Cool and limpid as moonlit desert air. Velvety and sensuous as the midnight sky… Like the flower’s namesake – the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute – Cierge de Lune spans a thrilling range, from crystalline high notes to a deep nocturnal purr.

Inspired by the fragrance of the night-blooming cereus – spicy vanilla laced with wisps of incense — Fabrice Pellegrin unveils the dark side of vanilla with an outstanding Madagascan absolute. Woodier and more ambery than its Tahitian counterpart with a tinge of tawny leather, it forms the heart of the composition. An airy waft of hedione transmutes the delectable pod into a cactus blossom, its pristine petals fleshed out by ylang-ylang.

To add vibrancy and brightness, twinkling pink pepper shoots glints of moonlight into the velvety blend, while black pepper runs an intriguing thread, from mineral, incense-like effects – a nod to the olfactory theme of AEDES DE VENUSTAS’ first offerings – to resinous, smoky, dark chocolate notes… Then, in a final metamorphosis, musky Ambrox, underscored by a downy suede accord, turns the nocturnal bloom into a dusky second skin… at midnight to capture its poignantly fleeting beauty.

Cierge De Lune was launched in 2016.

Cierge de Lune was pretty much love at first sniff. A really beautiful powdery , floral vanilla. Top notes as mentioned are a musky powdery note and clearly legible. The powdery note lingers for a while here and is joined by a gorgeous vanilla note, one of the best I have sniffed in a while. The Ylang ylang adds the floral aspect to the heart while the pepper and hedione cant be sniffed in isolation as such but there is a spicy sharpness to the blend which nicely amplifies the powdery vanilla. The fragrance fades slowly to a nicely done musky amber dry down with nuances of incense and leather or suede if you go by the notes. But make no mistake, the frag is built around the vanilla note which is definitely the star here.
Projection is a good 6 feet for the first hour or so before settling in to around 2-3 feet around you with a solid scent bubble. Longevity likewise is a solid 7-8 hours. This is a winner in the performance stakes without a doubt.
Final Thoughts-: Definitely Full bottle worthy for me. Really like this one from Aedes de Venustas. If you have any sort of liking for vanilla notes, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

This does smell so yummy. It’s definitely going to be a big hit with gourmand and powder fragrance lovers. Lots of powder and ambroxan shortly followed by sweet amber and suede. I can easily imagine this being very popular. The thing is I’ve smelt a few fragrances very similar to this, just perhaps not quite as sweet. It definitely needs the black pepper and incense to define it.
    Moderate silage and longevity.

This could have been a wonderful perfume if just you could perceive what you dressed.
I love perfumes that don’t shout out from the other side of the street, but this is too low.
For people who don’t like to sniff perfume they were.

This smells so much like Boucheron Initial but with an added dose of Ambroxan. I love Initial but ambroxan is not my thing. It is too sharp and makes what would be enjoyable very harsh. I wish some of these synthetics worked better for me because it seems almost every fragrance out today has ambroxan/ cetalox / or iso e.

It’s quite the vanilla ylang-ylang tobacco mix with cosmetic powder haze and slight amber and some cinnamon. It’s the delicious kind of blend with that slightly milky vanilla.
    It’s not that bad though.
@ilsagold it’s not similar to vanille as this one is delicious vanilla ylang-ylang blend while vanille is the delicate soft blend.

This is a sure scent that smells powdery. Its a beautiful creation and in my mind is a slightly more complex version of Penhaligon’s Artemesia. Lovely scent

Yum!!! After sniffing around in the Aedes de Venustas store, speed dating, I think I may have found “the one.” A creamy, powdery, complex vanilla – a better version of A LAb on Fire – What we do in Paris Remains a Secret (all the warmth without that baby powder smell). This is on the one hand a sort of generic, wearable scent, but as you get close and smell the layers you can appreciate the complexities. My favorite in the Aedes de Venustas line and a lovely scent for those who like warm, sexy, comfort fragrance.
