Description

Azzaro Chrome, the fresh masculine fragrance from 1996, which was inspired by the Mediterranean sea and the bond between fathers and sons, is shown in a new light as Azzaro Chrome Pure, the new edition coming out in early 2017. Azzara Chrome Pure is announced as “the promise of a moment of pure emotion.”

Announced as a citrus woody oriental, Chrome Pure retains the distinctive freshness of the original adding two new ingredients – spicy Akigala wood and tonka bean. The creation is signed by perfumers Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux.

Chrome Pure will be available in a smooth, matte white bottle as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

This baby right here is amazing. I get subtle coconut mixed with lime notes here and there , and that’s not even in the notes. Very fresh, citrusy and aquatic. The longevity is also good, so is projection. Perfect spring, summer and fall frag. Very safe for morning time use. 8/10

love this fragrance I find it so so so unique. It’s kinda soapy but not too much it’s peppery it’s aquatic. To me this fragrance evokes feelings or emotions almost lol like it makes me think of like what I think a awesome “father figure type” or the cool uncle in 2018 would smell like. It’s mature yet has youth and energy. I love it.

This is like a creamy and more sweet version of Creed Silver mountain water!! Its not a clone but have a similar vibe!!
    I really like this fragrance!!

I sprayed Azzaro Pure on my left hand and Dolce&Gabbana light blue intense. Pure is more summer vibe. Dolce is more beach vibe. Pure has a detergent kind of smell, while dolce has a saltwater vibe. I bought this bottle along with dunhill racing and I must say. This smells better than dunhill. And I payed twice as much for the dunhill racing.

Finally, a summer fragrance that has no Ambergis/Ambroxan, the fragrance market is currently dominated with Ambroxan note i.e. Dior Sauvage, Dylan Blue, Coach, Bvlgari Atlantique, PR Invictus, Le Male Popeye/Superman and I could go on and on. Don’ Get me wrong, Ambergis (whale poop) or the synthetic version of it which is Ambroxan smells great and I love it, but the market is just flooded with it and now it just boring.
Enter, Azzaro Chrome Pure. Just looking at the white bottle is already a relief from an eye soring blue shaded bottles. Looking and grabbing the minimalist white bottle with small letters already gives me and my eyes feeling refreshed.
Now the juice, the first things that hits me are the mild Azzaro DNA cold metallic watery notes and citrusy notes of the orange and orange blossom. The citrusy notes starts dying down and then tonka beans, bergamot, musk, woods and other notes comes in.
The citrus smell is always present but not dominant and the tonka, musk and woods gives it a sweet and creamy feel to it and the sweetness is not cloying because the bergamot mixes very well with. I have a Chanel Allure Blanche EDT and I can say that Azzaro Pure gives me that vibe in a little way.
Since I am currently in Manila, Philippines, which has a tropical weather this cologne is perfect for me since I can wear it all year long day or night.
Would I recommend a friend to blind buy this? Yes
Would I buy another one? If the fragrance companies keeps on with trend. Yes!
    Overall Scent: 8/10
Longevity on my skin: 7 Hours (I smoke cigarettes, that’s why I get less)
Sillage: Depends on how many spays, 6 sprays on my body, 2 on shirt gives me 1 meter for about 3 hours on me.
Not groundbreaking, but definitely a nice change from all the blue bottles. If you’re on the fence or looking for a change. I say, go ahead and buy Azzaro Chrome Pure.

This is a solid fragrance that checks off all the boxes! It smells unique but it is not polarizing. It does not cause the wearer fatigue like some others in its genre. It is versatile and has nice performance. The orange blossom mixes well with the woods presented here. I think if you are having qualms about purchasing this one, I say you go for it! Rest assured, this is a good buy!

This is a very pleasant and versatile warm weather scent with dominant citruses and aquatic notes.
Dominant notes are mandarine, orange blossom, tonka beans and watery notes. The best part of it, is the drydown. Performance is moderate overall.

Is it just me or does this smell like 1 Million Cologne minus the rose and mixed with some of the classic Chrome DNA (in particular the metallic feel) though it isn’t as piercing as I have found Chrome? I skin tested it in Sears today and got that feel from it. I really like it.

  9. :

    5 out of 5

The scent is very comforting and powdery. Tried it fo the second time and I must say it’s very unisex and it behaved differently – it has really good longevity but the sillage is moderate. I would say it’s good smell for close encounters, cuddling, dating…perfect for everyday activites when you just want to feel fresh and not to disturb other people with your presence.

I love this new Pure edition! Very pleasing scent, very sexy and interesting as well. It’s a fresh, but in the drydown it becomes more polished and complex, warm and a little sweet. I’m sure Chrome Pure is a BIG compliment geather and could be an all season winner 😉

I love Azzaro from old school to new school but this is straight up terrible. The powdery vibe is what kills this for me.

It’s very powerful, one test spray filled my bedroom in such a way that I had to open the windows! The smell it’s very good, not generic at all, it’s woody ,fresh ,masculine, smoky with tea notes, very good! Just go easy on the trigger, max 3 sprays so people can stand closer then 5 feet from you!

The perfumers are Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux. That’s why it’s good. Definitely an underrated cheapie.

So, what this reminds me of, a lot actually, is Horizon by Guy Laroche. It has that fruit fresh smell to it. A candy fruit, not a fresh fruit.
In the center of it, you can smell that original Chrome smell… you know, that metal kind.
All in all, it’s nice for the cool times, pleasant & inoffensive.
Something to run for? Not really. If you end up getting it, you’ll like it but to run out for it, I wouldn’t ( again )

Chrome pure. Picture being on a beach in the pacific islands or the carribean on a sunny day laying down in a lawn chair sipping spiced coconut rum while reggae music plays in the background. Then imagine that in a cologne and you have the essence of chrome pure. Seriously this scent gives off luxury summer beach vibes mixed with some nice booze which adds a nice tang and makes you go ahhhhh. Personally this is one of my favs because it captured the exact thing it set out to do and the notes all blend together so perfectly. I don’t see why people would think of this as generic because it is actually very unique. Ignore the hate, try to keep an open mind to this and give it a try because you might like it as much as i do.

This is a surprisingly good Chrome flanker and there are a few things that I really like about it: To begin, it opens with a great, fruity mandarin orange note. It’s full and fresh, and i t’s a nice way to get things going. I also like the smell that’s created through the addition of ‘mate’ and akigalawood. They create a very distinct, unique smell that I haven’t encountered yet, it’s like an aromatic, fragrant accord of woody herbal tea. This is the heart of Chrome Pure, or at least what stands out the most after the big fruity opening of the first 20 minutes. It drives the scent and sticks around for most of its duration. Chrome Legend, released in 2007, also has a very unique central accord. Just as people’s appreciation for Legend often comes down to how they interpret and receive its distinct heart notes, the same is likely to be true for Pure. I happen to enjoy it. The final thing that I really like about Pure is how it incorporates watery notes into the composition. It doesn’t over-do them or make them too obvious, but they’re there, and now and again you’ll catch a nice waft of a cooling, aquatic sea breeze. A lot of times when aquatic notes are added to a scent they either come across too sharp and chemical (and cause me a headache), or they don’t real resemble water at all and instead are just some vague sort of scratchy blue note. That’s not the case here though. These aspects of Chrome Pure are impressive, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed wearing it the first time around. It smells good and it’s unique enough that I’d be able to identify the scent by my nose alone if I were blindfolded and forced to pick it out of a lineup.
But there are a couple things I’m not crazy about in Pure as well. For one, it’s a bit heavy handed on the tonka in the base. It didn’t need to be doled out to the extent that it was and they probably could have cut its ratio in half. When tonka is used in a heavy handed manner it can thicken and bog down an otherwise fresh and uplifting scent and it can also distract from the other notes and accords at play. It’s a little over-done here–far from ruining the fragrance or anything, but it hurts its overall quality to some extent. More importantly however, is that aside from some of Pure’s unique aspects, there’s a persistent, dominant smell that I can’t describe as anything other than “the mall.” It smells like a collective smattering of the men’s fragrance counter in Macy’s. This smell takes up at least 25% of Pure’s overall aroma. It probably has something to do with the tonka accord and whatever white musk was used in the composition, as their smell seems partly to be the result of certain familiar and intense aromachemicals. (This could also be it–simply Azzaro’s heavy reliance on synthetics and more accurately, common, ubiquitous synthetics.) I know “the mall” isn’t the best description, but all I can really say is that it’s a semi-sweet synthetic white musk and floral sort of aroma. Chrome Pure sort of vacillates between this smell and the more unique and appealing elements I described earlier. So sometimes I really enjoy it, but other times it can seem a little redundant. Overall, however, Pure is pretty good, and certainly better than I expected. There’s development and depth in the composition. Its performance is solid, with strong projection and better-than-average longevity. And it brings some new ideas to the table, particularly the heart accord of mate and akigalawood which stick around for most its life. If you’re not averse to modern synthetic scents or scared away by the Macy’s fragrance counter, check this one out–you may like it. Thumbs up and a final score of 7 out of 10.

This smells exactly like sean john 3am except this has good performance. I sprayed twice on my jacket and although a jean jacket is the ideal material for a fragrance it lasted all day it was great.

I’m not a big Azzaro Chrome guy, I have owned one of the flankers and on the whole they are good value for money, entry level aquatics. However, I’m not sure about these comparisons, especially to Brit Rhythm and my beloved Eau de Lacoste Blanc. I can sort of see how maybe, I suppose they are in the same style but Chrome Pure is better than Brit and not a patch on Blanc.
Chrome Pure opens nicely enough with nice citrus notes and a sort lychee/melony lightness which is very nice, refreshing and all that. Then it’s lightly floral, orange blossom is listed in the notes and I’ll go along with that although it’s not characteristically distinct, it is white floral in nature. There’s a summery coolness about this and I’m trying it in winter so it’s immediately not appropriate. The drydown is an aquatic/wood/musk, enjoyable but not earth shattering and the performance was okay to quiet. I’m being extra fair to it because I reckon it will be in bargain bins in no time and if you like it might be a nice little summer bargain for someone.

Chrome Pure is an amazing fragrance! Hurry up and buy a bottle if you don’t own it. Pure is a thoughtfully put together flanker, that can easily be one’s signature scent. I think it’s best suited for the summer and spring weather, but can certainly be pulled off well in the winter as well due to well formulated musk that’s been incorporated into this fragrance. Chrome Pure is easily be described as being a blend of Citrus, Aqua, Saltiness, with an excellent musk base, tying the top and mid notes seamlessly together.
    Performance & Longevity is a 7.75/10
    Sillage is 7.5/10
    End Results: 9/10

Smells like a mix of Lacoste L12 White and Burberry Brit Rhythm. I like it but performance is very average.

This one really surprised me. I’ve worn it several times now, and it’s nothing like the original Chrome with that hollow metallic zing. Chrome Pure has more substance, more sweetness but with that same aquatic feel.
I have no idea what mate or akigalawood smells like, but the overall feel is a dense, FRUITY, sweet floral toilet cleaner. Seriously. But not in a bad way – just in that the aquatic-ness seems to create a heavy 2-foot sillage bubble.
And honestly, I actually prefer this over Nautica Voyage. I know, call me what you like, but I’m a big fan of orange and this stuff has it in spades. My initial reaction was like “cool, orange-tonka…and what is that weirdness in there?” – guess it must be that acapella wood.
Whatever. The performance ain’t great, but in the high heat, it mixes with sweat quite nicely and the projection is decent. Totally unisex too, especially in the drydown.
Not bad, not bad. Not great, but a welcome surprise. Props to Azzaro for not insulting us with an Oud flanker. At least…not yet.
    Scent – 7.5/10
    Projection – 6/10
    Longevity – 7/10
    Overall – 7/10 – More interesting = me like.

    Not groundbreaking but very nice.
A reviewer below compares it to Lacoste white. I agree to a point in that it achieves the same, clean, fresh, white t-shirt vibe, but it is far more subtle and far less fruity in the top notes.
My son owns Lacoste White and I like it a lot on him (he’s 19), but I find it too ‘immature’ on me (I’m 44) because of the very loud grapefruit opening.
This is like the Basenotes of Lacoste White without the screechy topenotes and that makes it more versatile and more suitable for all ages. A young man would still pull this off, but it’s not exclusively a young man’s scent.
A clean, fresh, white scent indeed. Not the best in my collection but a worthy, likeable and versatile addition!

Smells about 80% similar to Joop! Homme Wild (no boozy vibe and that one is more tropical).

  29. :

    5 out of 5

This reminds me of a less fruity version of Givenchy Pi Neo Tropical (discontinued) and also Quiksilver (discontinued). I like it, though it has a very slight synthetic smell in the mix, IMO. This might serve as a nice mix with another subtle cologne. Any ideas, anyone?

I have never been a fan of the Azzaro line but Chrome Pure was a very nice surprise. It is fresh, clean, safe and most of all it lasts on my skin a very long time.It might not be a good ideea to blind buy it but you should definitely give it a try.

I have generally been displeased with the chrome line. Chrome itself, I can’t even get past the opening, which to me smells like febreeze with an attempted injection of some sort of testosterone pleasing substance, and then dries down to a somewhat boring, fresh, clean, aquatic scent. It’s nothing new, nothing extraordinary, and I will 100% spend my money elsewhere. The flankers/line has been somewhat of a letdown too, out of the ones I’ve smelled, albeit few, Legend is the only one I considered buying.
But that’s the Chrome line, not Chrome Pure.
Chrome Pure is the King of Chrome. It is a year round masterpiece. Holy Crapoli. Just get it. I will soon.
The opening is fresh and citrusy but way less synthetic than its counterparts. There are nice green and floral notes present as well. Good opening, not wowing.
The heart is aquatic and woody. Very nice, and different than other woody-aqua frags. Stands out a little bit… a little bit. Good heart.
Then the drydown. My lordy is this fantastic. The Mate (a type of herbal tea) mixed with the wood and tonka is utterly amazing. Smoooooooooth as a babies bottom, clean as top of the Chrysler building, green, a touch herbal, ever so slightly sweet from the tonka, and crisp from the aquatic notes. AND IT LAST FOR FREAKING EVER. You want a modern powerhouse that’s reminiscent of Polo, Kuoros, Aramis, M7, PS Fine, and Obsession? This almost matches the performance of Kuoros. Two Sprays on a test strip, good sillage, and it lasted forever. I got in my truck to go to work the next day, about 14-15 hours after I tested it, and the strip I left in the car was still projecting like and air freshener. At the end of my work day, 24 hours after spraying the strip, the projection was gone but I could still easily smell the smooth mate goodness on the strip (like a skin scent).
    Get it. 9/10, easily.
    Opening: 6.5/10
    Development:8/10
    Drydown:10/10
    Longevity: 10/10
    Sillage: 9/10 to 7/10
Price: 6/10 (brand new so its not cheap for a designer frag)
Casual to business casual, year round, day or night. 2-4 sprays works wonders I imagine.
    Overall : 9/10
    Will pick up soon.

    ★★★
I had this on all day yesterday, and it lasted for a good 8 hours on my skin with a great sillage for the first 4.
With all the creativity in the designer fragrance spectrum going to hell these days, I can safely say this is a nice concept overall, it is very versatile like it is advertised and significantly more interesting to other similar offerings in the current market (Sauvage, Dylan Blue etc)
After the initial fresh citrus blast, it turns to a nice masculine powdery scent that’s most suited for casual occasions during the day (that’s probably due to the tonka and orange blossom). Ambroxan shines in the middle stage and gets more intense during the drydown and that’s kinda ruining it for me because I generally think that ambroxan as a note makes things less elegant in the end, and that is why it gets only 4 stars for me. Ambroxan might not be listed as a note but I can smell it and if it’s not ambroxan then it’s other the akigalawood or mate, two notes I have to confess I’m not really familiar with. Still, as a designer offering for a mass market, I find it to be very successful and something that young dads will enjoy out there, and I’m talking about customers that are not really fussy with their fragrance choices and just want to smell nice.
Good addition to the Chrome line overall, different from the original and I guess more modern since the powdery effect gives it a more current character.
I won’t be getting it, but I will be happy if I smell this more often than Sauvage or Dylan Blue, sorry guys I know I am striking a chord but I have to be honest! 🙂
PS: The bottle looks really appealing in person as well.

A lovely, well balanced citrus, powdery acquatic fragrance that is reminiscent of Allure Homme Blanche concentre, albeit with better longevity.
For those of you who find many citrus acquatics a bit ‘meh’ I would urge you to try this one out – you may be very pleasantly surprised.
Here in the UK the Azzaro brand is not all that well known, thus its low profile means some of its promising offerings could get overlooked. I was also pleasantly surprised by the original Chrome from a few years ago. In essence, this has ‘compliment-getter’ written all over it and is eminently affordable for those of us exercising fiscal prudence.

They did a really good job with this version it might actually be better than the original it’s like a powder-ry version of the original I smelled this one yesterday just walking through the mall if you like the original chrome then this version is definitely worth buying I’m going to wait to get the free watch with it they usually give them as a gift with a purchase during fathers day
Update: ok now I made the purchase for this scent it didn’t come with the watch but it came with a nice cooler and weekend bag as far as the scent it’s nice just doesn’t last as long as I thought it would I mean it lasts but it sits close to the skin after a couple hours I use about 3 sprays it’s been about 6+ hours since I applied it I can smell it a little on my under shirt my girl was able to smell it also she thought it smelled like sweet coconut she likes it overall I’ll give it 7/10 but it’s not better than the original but it’s very like able and worth adding to your collection if you like chrome

I am not great at picking out notes except some of the more obvious ones, so this is by no means a technical review.
However, it just smells amazing and longevity is very good. Mostly wearing at day time. My sample is almost gone, this is a definite for me!!
And the bottle is absolutely amazing!!

This fragrance is good and seems to last for a long time (sure it gets closer to the skin but almost never a skin scent till the 6th or 7th hour). I think I become nose-fatigued after the first hour and that’s the only qualm I have with it. Other than that, it’s fresh and sweet at same time. It lacks that metallic note from the original wich makes it pretty “sensual” rather than straight up fresh and generic.

Now THIS is a total positive surprise! Chrome Pure reminds me somewhat of a popular niche fragrance, Creed’s “Silver Mountain Water,” but with more freshness and smoothness in the drydown. To be honest, I was actually not expecting anything nearly this classy or well-blended. Strong, fresh citrus-aquatic opening with a hint of fresh mint, smooth yet peppery middle, and a finish of cedar wood plus fragrant tonka bean. I’m not much of a fan of musk, but in this fragrance medley, the “white musk” plays as very distant background music, if at all. So if musk is not your thing, fear not! It stays out of the way. This offering from Azzaro offers freshness with depth. Longevity is shockingly good for an EDT. This WILL be my “go to” for a Spring, Summer, and Early Fall fragrance. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Fragrantica is occupied by bots or such.
While this suppose to be Citrus and soft Woody Aquatic, it is voted and changed just by random, added millions of “similar” fragrances which are most definitely not, and this happens with every single added new release.
It has to be bots. It is just sad that this fragrance encyclopedia becoming very misleading and fake.

Love the original, really like new design and shown notes, hope for a something new and amazing.
This one could really be good, because of Jacques Huclier and Olivier Pescheux, they are responsible for really unique and very long lasting ones.
