Description

This is a feminine and romantic perfume with an intensive floral aroma; the fragrance with character, like so many of the “old” fragrances. Karl Lagerfeld launched Chloe in 1975. Mixture of honeysuckle, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, hyacinth, lilac, coconut, bergamot, aldehydes and juicy peach is at the top notes. The heart ticks in the rhythm of elegant jasmine, rose, narcissus, tuberose and carnation along with the orris root, and the base adds up with oakmoss, sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar and benzoin. The creator of this perfume is IFF.

This page is for the original 1975 fragrance labeled Parfums Lagerfeld. For the newer, modern formulation that solely reads Parfums Chloé (the packaging and formula are largely the same but the Lagerfeld name is omitted), please see the entry under the brand Chloé.

The nose behind this fragrance is Betty Busse.

A comment on the original Lagerfeld Chloe.
The original Chloe can be found on Ebay.
Look for Parfums Lagerfeld Paris on the box NOT Parfums Chloe.
    The bottle may be frosted.
If it says Coty, that is a refomulation.
Typing in Lagerfeld Chloe Vintage is your best bet.
The original Chloe Lagerfeld is sublime!
Best of luck in your search; it is worth it.

I had a bottle of this in the 80s. I really enjoyed it and so did my sister who made it her signature scent.
I remember it being a very clean scent and whenever I see it, Im always tempted to get a bottle but my wish list is fairly extensive and I always tends to go with my list to satisfy my perfume obsesssion.
I remember reading it was the beautiful Olivia Newton John’s favourite perfume and is where her daughters name originates for her.

My recent purchase of Chloe serves as a reminder that blind buys are risky. The fragrance is floral with fairly poor sillage and longevity. I don’t get any of the listed notes for Chloe. The scent is perfumey but not distinctive of any specific note.
Chloe is a decent enough scent, but IMHO it’s lacking that certain something, the undefinable IT. Decent enough is faint praise for a classic vintage scent, and so Chloe won’t find a place in my collection of favorites.
Some reviewers have said that the original is better than the reformulation. Knowing only the Lagerfeld original I can’t say anything about the other Chloe. But the fragrance I bought isn’t sublime. It’s more run of the mill, good enough but not great. There’s nothing to hate about Chloe, and truthfully I expected better from a Lagerfeld frag. KL is my favorite but Chloe – not so much.

This was my signature fragrance when it came out and I wore it on my wedding day. It is far better than the reformulated version, which is a bit harsher when first sprayed on. Largerfeld’s is softer and longer lasting. I was able to track down several factory sealed Lagerfeld Chloe on ebay and I stocked up on it so, I’m good for quite awhile now.

I think this is prettier , more distinctive and longer lasting than the new version. Several of my friends agree . This is a beautiful feminine floral – very womanly .
