When someone enters a hospital this is the scent he feels. It looks like a mix of acetone, hydrogen peroxide and ethyl alcohol.
Bigser – :
Charlie Red is a blind buy that didn’t work out for me. Yes, it didn’t cost much, but I couldn’t do a thing with the perfume. Sharp and cheap smelling, it’s nothing like the Charlie I remember, which was very nice indeed. Original Charlie is such an iconic American fragrance, a modern classic.
Has this fragrance been reformulated? This habit of putting out reformulated and sometimes updated new versions of older scents has ruined quite a few fragrances for me. Plus, now I’m a bit afraid of getting new bottles of vintage scents! I’d rather not have an old love spoiled by a new formula.
It’s really too bad about Charlie Red, I wanted to like it so much. There’s just something fun about having a nice, inexpensive brand name perfume. I kept CR around for a while, thinking I’d get around to liking it, but no joy.
So I donated the whole big bottle, problem solved.
FoulseMoulP – :
Tuberose with some tuberose and a little dash of tuberose. On my skin this is like Fracas delightfully wearable, light and airy little cousin. Some powder, from the rose and violets? Orange blossom, yes. Hints of musk and something sandalwoodsy lurking in the background. Longlasting, especially on fabric, lovely wafts of soft tuberose coming at me all day long. Put this in a blind test and watch people go WHHHHAAAAAA??? when you tell them it’s good old Charlie Red and it costs five bucks 😀
VPakeqT – :
Man! What is wrong with me? I am so enamoured with the ultra cheap body spray of Charlie Red, I can literally not stop sniffling myself. It is a mean clobber of synthetically produced scentoids, mostly weirdly dusty white blossoms but I detect some oily yellows in there as well plus this „I come from a can“-aerosol smell that whiffs of teenage pocket money well spent. Utterly gorgeous and incredibly niche! If cdg put this in a fancy bottle and sold it for a fortune, any self respecting, tattooed hipster mommy from the suburbs would wear it. Rebellion has never been so fragrant and cool.
Myckat – :
I had a small bottle as a teenager, I did not use it much but I liked the smell.
Now I bought a big bottle for nostalgia’s sake but it does not smell the way I remember unfortunately. Maybe it has been reformulated, or my memory has failed me.
ket889Bessinepome – :
Having been suitably impressed with Charlie White—a slightly juicy, melony fresh lily-of-the-valley unique delight—I decided to indulge myself in a bottle of Charlie Red for $7.
Like White, Red is a bargain beauty. On me, it opens with a familiar fruity-floral hairspray vibe; but soon the carnation and tuberose rise to the front and stay there. I can sense the same fresh lily-of-the-valley note and soft musk used in Charlie White, but on me this fragrance is all about the carnation and tuberose with a bit of honeyed peach and soft woods. Floral predominantly, with oriental leanings.
Sillage softens dramatically after the first half hour, but it has impressive staying power. Even after 5 hours, I was still getting friendly little floral whiffs floating up to my nose.
Charlie Red is cheap and charming to its core. I’m looking forward to trying all the Charlie flankers.
FASTSleep – :
I have an older smaller bottle of this that I acquired at some point, it has been on my to-try list for some time. I am wearing it today in the middle of summer and am pleasantly surprised! I have also had people tell me today that I smell nice, so it must not be hugely offensive or overpowering in an office setting.
I do see where some people would catch the cotton/soap/laundry scent but I don’t find it offputting as on myself I catch hints of more of a clean cotton fragrance that I think is actually more of the carnation note. I say this only because in my own experience that is how my skin chemistry reactions to carnation or even gardenia notes. Gardenia is traditionally a hard note for me to wear but it must be pretty minimal in this fragrance or age diminished in the bottle I have because I am not tempted to run and scrub it off.
All that said, I am pleasantly surprised and yet not at all surprised to read that some people just flat out dislike this one.
cas13rus – :
I have used and tried a few florals and soliflores but they could all be described as spring morning or summer day scents. This one, in my view, is the scent of a hot summer night, something I have been wishing to find for ages. I have bought it as a gift for someone and they found it as delightful as I did. I am going to buy some for myself, too.
All in all, a warm, striking floral! I can’t believe the low price. Must be applied generously, though.
Good sillage and lasting power for the price. Probably the least risky purchase you can ever make, unless you tend to steer clear of absolutely any trace of headiness and sweetness in your perfume.
Litedrelt – :
Womanly, mouth-watering, pleasing, so late 80’s/early 90’s- smelling, which I love. Just plain NICE. More proof you really don’t have to spend a fortune to smell great!
uav901intitytek – :
I`m a sucker for Charlie fragrances! The older I get the more I just need to have them at hand – it`s again another 80`s throwback to me! Screams for big hair and wild make-up, shoulder-pads and fishnets! 😀
Carnation, tuberose, honey and ylang-ylang with underlying cedar and sandalwood, yet it is a lush floral scent in my book. It comes out heavy and powdery on me, borderline `vintage aunt` impression, yet it somehow manages to stay appealing to me. No dodgy notes, it ain`t cloying either, but it really reminds me of vintage perfume and dusting powder or vintage make-up, or freshly washed lingerie after putting on some nicely scented talc. I can totally see this one being the `seductive` Charlie back in the day..I still do find it exactly that. Thumbs up and big like!
alex23964 – :
This is a fresh and pretty, white floral fragrance that lasts for hours on me. Throughout the day it unexpectedly pops its head up and gives me a whiff much like stepping into a florist. Fine for any season.
imarshag – :
I’ve had no luck with any of the Charlie fragrances. To my nose this is an overwhelming blast of sickly sweet white flowers. Angry white flowers. Cloying, suffocating, inelegant. The smell causes me to become agitated. Too sweet for cold weather, too loud for warm weather. This is a powerhouse white floral fragrance with intense longevity and projection.
UneveAwaw – :
I’m actually in awe because I did not expect this fragrance to smell as delightful as it does because the Original Charlie is not my cup of tea. I bought a BIG CLEAR bottle ( NOT FROSTED) off of eBay for $7.50 It reminds me of a soft version of Sand and Sable and Kim Kardashian Pure Honey with tuberose, lilies and honey. It’s s very tropical scent. Very light and whimsical. Nice sillage not too strong. Lasts a few hours before needing to reapply but for such an inexpensive product I don’t mind spraying it often. This smells better than most expensive perfumes. Some say it smells like Maroussia but not so much. Maroussia is my signature scent that’s why I bought this because people said it smells like Maroussia. Give this fragrance a try. It’s great for the daytime in the summer and not to strong for the office. Honestly, it’s a perfect scent. It a tad fruity and creamy. It is kind of soapy but in the best way possible ..it’s very fresh. I’m delighted with this product. I hope they never stop making it.
Mextkneenty – :
This is simply put a nicely compositioned, happy floral scent for almost every occasion, not too soft, not too heavy. Its low-budget, long-lasting, and doesn’t smell synthetic at all, moreover, I can wear it all year round, since it copes well with very low or high temperatures.
No, Charlie Red is not fanciful, nor special, however its an all-rounder that can keep up with many costly yet uninspired mainstream fragrances I have tried. Will keep it in my collection and use it every time I gaze in disbelief at the prices of ordinary, boring scents from well-known perfume houses.
Sofia_fromAF – :
Better than the Charlie Blue. Musky oriental scent. Good for cheap perfume.
vkx271Negeltzex – :
This fragrance makes me nostalgic, it reminds me of my mom in the 90’s. Sweet, elegant white floral, and also powdery, like makeup or lovely face cream.
Tysontl2007 – :
I rather like it. It has a fresh warmth, slightly fruity as well as flowery.
I’m a tuberose-aholic and there are others which tickle me more, but I’m finding this one has far more depth and character than I first gave it credit for.
A lovely fragrance for bed linen! And tonight I also am enjoying it on my skin. And why not. It’s cheap and I can be liberal with it.
rzf126speagoessenda – :
I have to admit this perfume smells like fabric softener at first spritz but turns into a soft floral tuberose. I love this! It brings back memories and I’ve been feeling nostalgic for 90’s perfumes lately. I do notice a hint of pencil shavings at the end of the perfume trail but this is only if you’re smelling it on your self (spraying it on your outer hand); I don’t think anyone smelling this scent on you would notice. The thing with Charlie perfumes is that they seem to smell incredible after the scent has sat on your skin 15 minutes later.
UPDATE: It smells like Bath and Body Works Cotton Blossom!
Foetteacrorie – :
So I bought this perfume online as a blind buy. I owned Charlie Gold as a kid, and I found the scent revolting, however I decided to try Charlie Red because I read a few positive reviews and it cost only $4.00 on eBay. When I got the perfume and smelt it, I was completely shocked. The aroma was intoxicating, it was sweet but not nauseating like the typical candy scents, more floral sweet. Also, it seems to last a good while on my skin, haven’t worn it out in public, however I reckon it last a few hours. PS. I dont think it smells like detergent at all!!!
1,60001E+12 – :
I cannot stop from constantly smelling myself because this fragrance is the epitome of feminine – it is foremost floral, somewhat musky, ceaselessly fresh and utterly warm. It has me stuck in a trance that I don’t ever want to get out of! With the right outfit, this scent will make you feel unstoppable.
adssl – :
I understand that we all have different tastes and that perfumes smell differently to different noses, but I truly cannot understand the Charlie Red comparisons with laundry or cleaning products. In saying that, I absolutely love the aroma of our fabric softener and liquid laundry detergent, so I don’t mind! I bought Charlie Red after buying the body spray, which was just 89p. I can’t get over how absolutely lovely this little bargain is! True, it doesn’t have the staying power of the more expensive brands, but it’s so feminine and fresh and floral! Suffice to say, within minutes of having put it on, a lady in Marks and Spencer Food Hall stopped me and said she had to ask what perfume I was wearing, as it was absolutely beautiful. This is my bargain dream when it comes to perfume! And in my opinion, bearing in mind I’ve always been a complete perfume snob, this smells wonderfully expensive.
greekorn – :
I don’t know how laundry in other countries smells, but to me it smelled like shoe polish when I got the first whiff of it. A bit later it became softer and smelled a bit like grandmas hand soap. I’m still undecided if I like it or not. Normally I’m a fan of powdery scents but I’m not sure yet if the flower note isn’t too heavy for me.
Update:
I’m so sorry to say that especially because there seem to be so many lovers of this fragrance on here, but Charlie Red smells to me simply cheap and awful and its smells seriously like a refresher stone for the toilet 🙁 I get sick from the smell. What did I miss about it, that makes it so great to others?
Menxk108JeomiWogkig – :
I have quite an extensive collection of perfumes.
All price ranges and brands. This Charlie Red by
Revlon is just really pretty. Lasts all day and smells
great. You do not need a lot of this to last all day either. Nice, elegant, sweet, powdery floral.

As of September, I started making monthly perfume trays in order to get to know the perfumes I already own even better. This is on October’s tray, and now that the last days of October are coming to an end, I feel that I can give a pretty fair review on this. 🙂
Smells like candied laundry and I don’t hate it. I used to wear this when I was younger when you could go to WalMart and get mini bottles of perfumes for $2.88. I would hoard all that I could because of how cheap they were, especially after the holidays when prices would be further cut down. It’s been so long since I tried it, but as soon as I smelled it again, the memories of the time flooded to me. I was sure to find a frosted bottle opposed to clear, since that’s apparently the clear holds a newer formulation. Around the spray nozzle of my bottle (which is plastic), the juice dyed it an amber color and it’s very concentrated. For one spray on each wrist, this lasts and lasts. It does smell like the steam of laundry (the scent of laundry soap), but it is beautifully honeyed. This is clean, yet sweet at the same time, which isn’t easy to pull off. This makes me think of grandparents in a weird sort of way. Not like “THIS SMELLS LIKE AN OLD LADY” but the smell of going over your grandparents, their laundered blankets (since they are retired and just clean all of the time), flowers and hard candy. I really enjoy this, but probably would not repurchase. It was a really nice trip down memory lane and I’ll enjoy this while I own it! I feel like people underestimate this based on its cheap bottle, price, and it being described as laundry detergent. It is a clean scent, but it’s more than that. It’s mostly a honey scent to me. It even captures that sharp feeling in the back of my throat when I sniff honey (not a bad sharp feeling…hard to explain). Yum!
audi007 – :
Fresh and Floral. I think I’ve worked out the scent. Charlie Red is the scent of soap / washing detergent.
Six dollars for 100ml gives a baseline for what it costs to produce, market, and even make a profit on synthetics.
Thanks Revlon.
mak-kone – :
I jumped in for 7$ at Ross, and found this pleasant in October. It does remind me of some scent from the past, but cannot nail it. The tuberose is strong, but the die down is creamy. It smells clean and sweet as it wears. For some reason it smells like a good one for a nurse. After it dies down. On me it is a clean smell. This Charlie is formulated in Spain. A big bottle for the price is a good deal. So those who love gardenia and tuberose- what’s to lose? Nothing at all.
5tr4nn1k – :
This was love at first sniff.
Somewhat a surprise to me, as I generally don’t like sweet fragrances, but there is a freshness to it that I love. The freshness even overcomes the honey.
I wear it everyday to work, daily and to all but special occasions…its my go to fragrance except for the hottest summer days.
This is a surprise to me, as it is really a very inexpensive fragrance. But, it by no means has that cheap fake smell stamp that so many spritzes have.It really is great. Will never be without it….even though i have many other more expensive perfumes than i care to admit.

Not a review of Charlie Red, but I bought a bottle of Police Daydream EDT today because it smelled like something familiar I used to wear 2o+ years ago. Just got it home and tried it on, only to realise that it smells a lot like Charlie Red (which I did indeed love and wear as a teenager!)
For some reason Daydream isn’t listed so I can’t leave a review of it on here, but it smells very similar and I’m loving the retro fragrance blast-from-the-past. #NothingSaysNinetiesScentsLikePeachNotes
(If anyone knows how to get the Police Daydream fragrance listed, let me know, thanx)

Oh how I love Fragrantica! I’d completely forgotten about this, I used to wear it in my early twenties but I moved on to other fragrances as I got older and totally forgot about Charlie Red until I saw on here someone had reviewed it. I went straight out and bought a bottle, £3.99 for 100mls, unbelievable. All my memories came flooding back in one spray. Such a lovely soft classic fragrance, nice for Summer as it always was my Summer fragrance, so glad I rediscovered it x
DeLriS – :
I have been curious about these Charlie flankers for ages, but having never seen any of these anywhere to test, I had to either order blind or give up. I was reluctant to try this one because of the comparison to Red Door, and also because tuberose, listed as a prominent note, is difficult for me to wear. I took a chance and ordered this blind. Well, this smells nothing like Red Door on me, and I also smell no tuberose in this. This is a vintage type sweet fresh floral, suitable for daytime and casual wear. By vintage, I mean 80s type vintage, vaguely similar to the original Vanderbilt. Charlie Red smells like a bouquet of very sweet white flowers with no single flower taking centre stage, with a tiny dose of peach and maybe a bit of amber and musk in the drydown. There is also a slight metallic undertone when smelled up close, and I’m not sure what’s causing that. This has a bit too much of that 80s sweet powder vibe for me to wear often, but I can see wearing it when I am in the right mood. I think fragrances like this were already on the way out by 1993 when this was launched, making way for the unisex aquatics that would become so popular during the 90s. If only Revlon had released it a decade prior, I think it would have had a bigger following.
m00Lot – :
Sweeter than I expected, but nice. The sweetness did last all day, and did not fade away with the dry down. I was shocked that I was able to wear it to work without any complaints, I may have been a bit heavy on the trigger finger. Not my typical choice in a fragrance but it has a place in my wardrobe for sure.
suchek2000 – :
A watered down combo of Diamonds and Emeralds with a whisper of Poeme. I was planning to gift this one but I now find it to be similar to, or at least halfway to, Insolence. I may just keep it.
lonshakov3 – :
I am not an expert on identifying notes, but it was a blind buy from ebay and it seemed to have such great reviews even on blogs. Mind you, reading notes is confusing. It really is not how to buy a perfume. The classification of Oriental floral reassured me because it is my favourite fragrance type and I wear fragrances liberally only at home, and at night for ‘being me’ and feeling good (cannot flaunt fragrances outdoors as a muslim woman so I make do with deos to feel fresh, thankfully I have no bad odour and talcum powders are enough to give me the perfumed effect).
However, this first blind buy gave me surprises. It had just the right kind of fragrance I wanted. Unexpected too. I was expecting something floral and fresh when people said it was a good office wear. But it is just so romantic. Spicy. Not as sexy as Paco Rabanne’s Black Xs which I got as a wedding gift from big brother, but I am happy to be in it when I wear my laces and satins.
But I did get bored of it after a while. So I took a break from it and now, it feels good again.
KingGrey – :
I have to mentioned about the drydown. First of all the honey smell is quite strong for a while..then once gets more dry , is a softer , smooth , powdery sweet smell that I find very pleasant! I know I says my Charlie Gold still my favourite but I have to admit, this one didn’t disappoint me in the end. Only find quite strong soon I sprayed. I agree with one of the reviews here..Honey plays a big part on this perfume.
rfhfrjkm – :
Finally I’ve decided to get the Charlie Red ( have been using the Gold one , my very favourite, and the white one, the one I most dislike). Ok ,the first impression I got the first time I’ve tried give me a strange aroma that for some strange reason reminds me ‘ summer aroma’, is like that smell I get when I swimming in the sea and my body mixt with suncream ( hard to explain and I don’t know why this perfume brings me that kind of ‘ summer memories’ but at the same time have a strong smell of honey. Is quite strong generally speaking ( the gold one is strong too but in a different way) my Charlie Gold still the winner.
89130892059 – :
Very nice, affordable perfume for every season. The gardenia and amber are most prominent to me in this. In summer, I think the honey dominates. For the price, it has good longevity; six or seven hours on skin, and a good bit longer on clothes. The projection is fair, unless you over spray; in which case it becomes enormous.
INAPSNY – :
Oh I love this scent. I tried this recently and it reminded me instantly of my old perfume I used to wear, Gloria Vanderbilt, but softer. It smells like floral, smooth, soft and good for everyday. I can smell the ylang ylang and carnation and honey, sandalwood on my wrist.
I used to see Charlie in the stores and I bought the regular Charlie once when I was a teenager. The bottle was smaller back then it seems.
TAG2011 – :
I like this perfume but maybe not okay for the office as my co-worker started sneezing whenever I wore this perfume. It made me feel uncomfortable wearing this lovely scent
ХеХе – :
Charlie Red was a blind buy, based on reviews here. My first reaction was “very lovely!” I get a lot of tuberose / gardenia. I don’t get carnation, even though it’s supposed to be a pretty strong note. Maybe, to my nose, it’s just blending really well with the tuberose and gardenia. So glad I got this!
sergeylap – :
Charlie Red is very gorgeous and glamorous night time scent. Usually people appreciate roses for their gentle aroma but for me always carnations had remarkable natural “perfumed” scent.
mashinist – :
Excellent! But smells a bit like Eternity… Carnation and indoles. I have been looking for a fragrance that quintessentially evokes the colour red, for a long time. I may gave found it… little cheap old Charlie for $9.95. How did I overlook it?
You think this smells like Red Door? Well I happened to be trialling Charlie Red on my left arm and Red Door on my right, and my experience was that they are COMPLETELY different. Red Door is a powdery stink bomb (to be blunt), and Charlie Red is crisp, heady white flowers (despite still smelling “red” in my imagination). I couldn’t wait to get Red Door off me, sorry. Reminds me of primary school teachers – cardigans, moo moos, and chunky gold jewellery – early to mid 90s.
(Note: just because both perfumes feature the word “red” and originated in the same era doesn’t mean they smell alike!!)
But there are two drawbacks to Charlie Red. 1 – it doesn’t last very long (it’s EDT) 2 – becomes less “red” and more “white” in the end, smelling more or less like Eternity (same era).
slevin kelevra88 – :
I love all the flower and fruit notes plus all the spiciness I wouldn’t change one single thing about Charlie Red it is my favourite of all the Charlies. I can spray with abandon as it is $8.99 and available always at my nearest perfumery. If anyone near me doesn’t like it, they can just move away from me! Going to revel in this one forever!
garik30 – :
I found it to be terrible!
It smells exactly like the cheapest smelling liquid soap you can find.
Once it reaches the base notes it gets slightly delightful but then is a little too late.
It lasts a while but since it is a softer scent than its brother scent Gold it turns into a skin scent quicker and just right when it starts to get better.
What a shame …
marchenkonelli – :
This has so many notes that I like — reading about it, it sounded like the PERFECT perfume. …Do you sense the big “BUT” that comes next? 🙁 *sigh* Today, I found a tester of it at Gordman’s. I was so excited! I happily pick it up and….UGH!! It was so strong and overpowering that I felt sick to my stomach just from a sniff of the tester bottle! I didn’t even spray it – and after that, I didn’t dare put it on my skin to see how it would go. I really, really wanted to like it. Maybe it would be somewhat nice if it wasn’t QUITE so strong.
Doorsscunny – :
Deliciously sweet honey scent on my skin. Can definitely tell there’s florals & other things, but I get a lot of honey and I’m not complaining :). I get the plum too, which is reminiscent of my favorite Poison.

I’ve ordered this perfume online it was a big risk because I didn’t know what to expect big surprise !!! Nice scent !!!

I remember when Charlie ads were on tv when I was a kid. I think my Mom owned a bottle once…I never remember what it smelled like and never had any interest in it until now…. A client was wearing this gorgeous scent and I asked and she said she was wearing Charlie MUCH to my surprise. Right away I went out a bought it. Funny thing is this is the cheapest thing in collection and I get compliments on it every time I wear it with out fail. It’s lovely and sensual… the notes in my opinion all mesh together and form this unique scent. I can’t distinguish them separately. It’s light but very potent and lasts a decent 5 to 6 hours. It’s sweet (not sticky sweet), really smooth and deliciously musky. Needless to say, I Am In Love!
hhhdddtpoqwe – :
Edt
Very white floral and then woody. The deospray is more powdery but edt is balsamic and powdery. Very intensive perfume, not weak. Not bad but not great. I would stand scenting this once in a while on others but I wouldn’t want to use it myself.
Smeasepayslen – :
Ok, so Charlie Red isn’t BAD, per se… but if you put this in an aluminum can with a Glade label, I’d totally believe it was air freshener. Just saying. I get honeyed florals with a bit of that aquatic “toilety” vibe (which I think is the violet?), though that’s not quite as prominent here as it is in Charlie Gold, which I can’t tolerate at all. Sillage and longevity are good… I might wind up having to scrub this before I head out tonight. It’s bordering on headache-inducing.
Fendigo – :
Deospray:
A mix of everything listed but not as fruity as the main notes tell.
Very floral, a little sweet and then mild ylang-ylang + sandalwood. Powdery. The sweetness reminds me more of honey than fruit, so honey is more prominent than peach, plum and black currant. I definately feel the rose but it’s well-blended with the other floral scents. Gardenia and lily of the valley are intensive and I’m not sure how Carnation smells so I can’t rate it.
To sum up my overall impression: Flowers, honey and ylang-ylang.
If this would have been the first fragrance I had ever smelled, I would like it more, but now I’m comparing it to my favourites and other Charlie perfumes. Compared to Charlie White and Touch I like this way more.
RocaimaCepmam – :
I bought this perfume without smelling it first…always a risk, I know. In this case, though, it was a wonderful purchase! I had the original Charlie in middle school and hadn’t tried it as an adult. When I looked for it, I found that several variations were available, and decided to take the plunge and try them all. Out of all of them, this one is by far my favorite. Immediately after spraying I get a heavy dose of tuberose, along with florals, most noticeable being carnation and gardenia. Luckily for me, I LOVE tuberose! On my skin, this lovely blend at the start lasts quite a while, and as it warms to the heart, I smell a few additional floral notes but none of the fruits listed for some reason. The sillage is good on me, and the longevity pretty good, too. On the drydown, it really becomes a skin scent on me, albeit a very pleasant one hinting of musky sandalwood. Immediately upon trying this scent it reminded me of a few of my favorites: Elizabeth Arden Red Door, Giorgio Red, and Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Rubies. This one is sure to be in my collection as long as it is available…I’ll probably buy a few extra bottles to hoard in case it ever disappears.
WSD_132 – :
Tuberose, carnation and honey OH MY! this is just exactly everything I hate in a perfume! It’s like the heavily fragranced outhouse restrooms at lonely state and federal parks. With less poop of course. It makes my throat all scratchy.
svencoop – :
If I try hard, I can pick out some notes. But I don’t want to try so hard. So, then I mostly smell hairspray.
west2012 – :
On me this is all about plastic flowers.. acrid, plastic flowers that only improve to the point of toilet bowl sanitizer. I experience no creaminess. No warmth. No anything but plastic flowers. I’d use it as a bathroom spray only if I wanted my bathroom to smell like a bathroom in a government run building (I don’t). It may, however, be good for insect control (I’ll have to test that out).
I recently purchased this at a brick and mortar retailer, so perhaps like so many other fragrances, it was reformulated (especially to accommodate the $6 price point).
васссяя – :
Smells like Lancome Poeme. Very white floral and stuffy.
I was hoping for roses/honey/amber, but I can`t smell any of that.
Кербут – :
Oh what a warm, sexy, sweet woody tuberose scent! This is a lot softer than you might think from the Charlie line–no harsh loudness here at all. It opens on me with a soft blast of violet, a hint of peach, and the sweet tuberose which carries throughout. I get a bit of gardenia and orange blossom, but nothing overly heady as white flowers can sometimes be.
The drydown is all tuberose, amber, woods and musk with a tiny hint of spicy carnation for good measure. This one is a classic, well worth hunting down. It is sexy without being over the top, and I can’t stop sniffing myself today!
pca411bedyWelty – :
I had this when I was little in a rollerball form, and recently found it for under AU$15, and despite it possibly being the cheapest (in price) perfume that I own, it is probably one of the most complimented.
On me it starts out almost cold, like a bouquet of tuberose, gardenia and jasmine. However, it’s softened quite quickly with warm honey. The scent, while it has fantastic sillage, only lasts about an hour and a half on my skin.
I don’t mind respraying it because it’s not a massive dent in the pocket if you need another bottle, but it does spray out a LOT of perfume at once, so the bottle depletes quite quickly.
Just as well I was able to get a bunch of backup bottles, because this is a great perfume that I hope to always have.
KAPAHDAW – :
So UK still has it? Ive had it long ago in SA, but like in the 90s
Lovely frag, want it again
vdv – :
I absolutely love the initial white flower accord . Tuberose + gardenia is a match made in fragrance heaven for me and here it smells fresh and romantic.. Just wish I could pick up the carnation, which is one of my favourite notes, and sadly it is not the case.
Unfortunately, after about five minutes- ten at best the flowers are ambushed by a heavy, cloying hairspray-like musk and sandalwood gang. The bad guys ! They leave them weighed down, tarnished, motionless and lifeless.
Another name for Charlie Red could be “Lost illusions” or “The end of innocence”.
Very good projection ; lasting power on the other hand is about two hours only on my skin.
