Calicut taps into the luxurious side of woody fragrances for its delicate and natural spices. The combination of oakmoss and resins gives this a big ticket vibe with plenty of reverence for the macho crowd. Although probably not targeted for the mass market crowd, this can comfortably sit on anyone’s perfume shelf. An interesting fact is that this isn’t marketed as unisex. I’ve smelled fragrances that are more gender distinctive than Calicut but was listed as unisex like Bois D’Ascese(for me Bois D’Ascese is masculine). In spite of the fact that this strictly designates a gender, Calicut reflects the personality and taste of the individual. Performance and style wise, this is atypical of a niche fragrance. This is not experimental nor exotic but the modernity along with price point should garner fans. Overall, this is loaded with plenty of accords that will perfectly suit your mood and taste. This just might become your favorite new scent.

A beautiful and very Indian spice-wood fougere that evokes the aura of India’s most beautiful state Kerala and the ancient City of Calicut which is known as a spice-trading port, this perfume combines notes of cardamom, elemi resin, black pepper, nutmeg, cedar, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, bergamot and musk to create an airy masculine feeling around the wearer reminiscent of ships laden with spice sailing away from the port. Moderate in sillage and projection with good longevity this is a nicely done perfume that deserves a wider audience. Resonant without being overpowering.
