Worst blind buy ever. I don’t know if it has to do with my skin chemistry or it is due to the “eau fraîche” stuff but it has a very poor perfomance (not even decent) on me. IMO it smells like baby cologne and mint notes are hardly noticeable. I bought Le Male Superman based on the monster performance of Ultramale and the very good reviews from fragrance youtubers but unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectations.

Smooth minty vanilla. Great work fragrance! And you will get compliments from the ladies

I’m a big fan of Gaultier-style vanilla, so I always wanted to have a vanilla fragrance for summer, but thought it’s impossible. Well, I was terribly wrong. Jean Paul Gaultier Superman is a great summer semi-sweet fragrance with a solid fresh minty note. Smells like very expensive fabric softener with sexy sparkle. Perfect for high summer heat, despite its sweetness. Well done, Gaultier. 8/10.

Smells clean, like fabric softener / detergent.
If you love clean smell cloth, you will love this.

This is my current spring-summer gym scent. Clean and invigorating. Only good in the right situation (spring, summer, dynamic and/or open spaces) otherwise it’s a slightly annoying detergent/fabric softener/floor cleaner scent.

Picked it at the airport without thinking too much and unfortunately I did not use it too much during the summer. It smells like a cross between La male and Le beau male just a little bit softer and fresh. The bottle looks nice and it’s one of the reasons why I bought it. A great fragrance if you want just want to smell fresh and clean.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Superman Eau Fraiche (and basically any Eau Fraiche as they are fairly similar other than bottle design like most Le Male editions have been) was a scent that I toyed about getting for a long time so I got a decant. Best decision I ever made. I did not like it at all.
Le Male Eau Fraiche is a very sweet scent. It is so sweet in fact that I didn’t like it. It is very candy sweet, too sweet and too cloying for me. Only one of other scent was that and it was Coach for Men (though that was more so due to the open.) Eau Fraiche was sweet all the way through. What I got with Le Male Eau Fraiche was a lot of mint with almost as much aldehyde and some neroli in the open. A heavy amber sweetness with some woods and sage make up the mid notes. The base is almost all vanilla and some tonka.
I can see Le Male Eau Fraiche working for people in spring days and summer nights. It is far too cloying for summer days whether it is humid or dry heat. It is mostly good for clubbing or maybe college during early fall semester and after you get back from spring break for spring semester. I also find it as a scent that works for about high school/college aged to entry level workers. DON’T wear this if you are over 30. And I say this as someone who wears sweet scents including Ultra Male.
Honestly when I wore Le Male Eau Fraiche, it was near nuclear in projection for about two/three hours. It could have been due to the heat as I wore it on the fourth of July and about two other times, but it would project REALLY strong. Two to three sprays is enough unless you are clubbing. Longevity is about 9 hours. This performance is mainly the only good thing about the scent. Unlike the scent that I mentioned for also being too sweet (Coach for Men), it is a great performer.
I feel this is a scent that it is a real rival to Invictus but isn’t a dupe to it. I like that Jean Paul Gaultier got Nathalie Gracia-Cetto to create something that would compete with Invictus, but not a direct copy. It is for the person that wants something like Invictus but not a citrus aquatic. It isn’t for me, but I can understand the appeal. I rate it a 6.0 but give it a hate due to the scent but the performance is amazing.

My younger sister bought this from heathrow airport for me.
very nice fragrance with moderate sillage and longevity.
suitable for hot and humid weather.loved it’s bottle and packaging.

This fragrance isn’t Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Superman Eau Fraiche…it’s Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male!
If you ask me what fragrance brand is suitable to Superhero like “Superman” I think is Lacoste Essential because of fresh bergamot and tangerine and why I chosen Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Profumo because is smart scent, charming smell, rich man and elegant.
“Superhero” must have Help peoples, simple smile, understanding people, being kind, gratefulness, self-sacrificing, generous, and loving others over self.

Definitely a compliment getter. The mint in this is the star.

Nice but more for the teenage crowd just like the cartoon bottle everything about from the smell to the presentation says not for a mature market. Don’t get me wrong the scent is very nice and unique. But as a near middle age guy I prefer Eros which to me, my wife and our friends find to be very classy despite it being a so called clubbing fragrance.

The minty with the same signature of Le Male!
This is the kind of less intense of original Le Male that open with sharp and fresh mints, and dry down to the same original Le Male. This isn’t a kind of cologne you wear on the outside of summer because it too sweet and warm by vanilla, in my opinion it not for a super heat outdoor scent, but indoor and a bit of cool temperatures. Anyway this cologne seemed to be loved by women as same as the original one, I get a lot of compliments from girls and yes I have to say it the real lady killer!
For those who said that Superman share the same scent with Eros I have to disagree with them , it quite different! I own both of them and nothing in this cologne reminded me Eros, You guys have to checking your nose, Eros is a kind of sharp fruity sweet vanilla, but Superman is strong Minty sweet vanilla.
This cologne can wear all day and night, just keep in mind it not for high heat outside cologne.

love it for summer. clean, fresh and damn it smells good.

This is truly aldehydic bomb. Opens up spicy-fresh with mint, aldehydes and neroli. It’s like walking straight out of a cold shower.
Once the scent settles a bit, I get very prominent fougere kick with clary sage. It kinda surprised me but in a very nice way. Everything softened by delicate vanilla but nothing overly sweet. I do get a bit of original Le Male signature in it.
I love the spicy fresh opening as well as the fougere phase that follows, but in the complete drydown, I smell close to skin and sort of a flat sweeter summer scent. It’s not bad, it’s just I wish it would keep that masculine tone which dissapears after half an hour. Then the scent is probably what is a big hit in todays young male summer frags. Not that teeny as Eros tho.
To me 7/10 – if the drydown would keep the masculinity, easily 8/10.

I got a sample of that one when I bought another fragrance at store, they gave me 5ml as a “gift”, I used it enough times to make a review here.
In my opinion, it’s a very good fragrance with fresh notes, it’s not as heavy as JPG Le Male and it has some notes of it’s original. Good for use during the day, although I didn’t think about using it in the night because I prefer heavier scents on these moment.
You notice a very pleasant combination of mint and aldehydes in the opening, for me at least, the drydown is very linear and you feel some vanilla later but not that much. I sprayed it 3 times when I still had the sample (on my neck, clothes and wrist), and i found it a clean scent so good that I kept smelling my wrist every time.. projection is good and longevity (at least for me) is good too. I consider it a soft / moderated scent and it accomplishes it’s purposes.
I liked this one a lot and I thought many times about buying a bottle of it (40ml, 75ml, whatever) but let’s see… maybe I get that one to alternate with the one I am already using…
    Projection : 4 / 5
    Scent : 5 / 5
    Longevity : 4 / 5

This feels like a more diffuse, less dense, and way way sweeter version of Geir Ness… With a touch of bubble gum.

During the middle phase Le Male Eau Fraiche smells identical to Kouros Silver. Which is to say that both have nothing in common with their respective predecessors whose name they bear.
A nice and fresh summer fragrance that i’m going to explore further in the upcoming hot months.
The great bottle is why i actually bought it.

This is a solid fragrance for a younger guy like me – it’s refined but playful and I’ve gotten tons of compliments from various different people in my school for the scent. I’m a guy who likes sweeter scents rather than pure blatant masculinity, which is classic of this fragrance house so I have no complaints with the scent itself. Very sweet minty start which dries down to this beautiful vanilla which, in my opinion, is perfect for cooler summer days. For some reason, sweating seems to only accentuate the vanilla scent – I was waiting outside in the heat for a taxi and when I got in the driver immediately gave me a compliment.
Don’t expect powerful sillage from this – I had to spray quite a lot for people to actually notice it when I was in an air-conditioned room. However, my personal preference is for fragrances that are only noticeable when people come close rather than being THAT guy who smells like he bathed in Aventus. So I found the moderate sillage from 4 sprays (neck and arms) perfect.
My only complaint is that it doesn’t last that long as I hoped it would. For me, in a generally air-conditioned environment (22-30 degrees Celsius) the scent lasts around 4-6 hours, with another 2-3 hours before it fades completely. It’s a good date fragrance for the daytime if you’re planning to hang out with your special someone for 2-4 hours, maybe to watch a movie?
    Overall, solid 7.5/10 for sure.

  21. :

I would say that Superman is a solid fragrance. Its not ground-breaking but no complaints. Fresh fougiere with a hint of bubblegum sweetness. You can probably pull this off in any season

  22. :

    3 out of 5

to be honest i’m genuinely confused by this scent. opens smelling like laundry detergent, dries off into (IMO) a clean *feminine* scent you would expect to smell on a 40+ y.o. woman. maybe it will grow on me, but for now i’d strongly suggest starting with a sample.

A very pleasant aroma. Many say that it resembles Popeye’s and in a way it looks when you applying it but in drying it does not have much to do with it.
In store they told me that it was exactly the same aroma as Le Male Popeye but that it only changed the drawing of the bottle (I wonder who hires the clerks in the perfumeries), no way, the smell is different, it is more like LE BEAU MALE but something less cool.
It is quite sweet but not cloying, it is menthol and vanilla but in its proper measure, not excessively and sandalwood is also appreciated.
In short, it is a very pleasant perfume, it smells very good and it is a limited edition of Jean Paul Gaultier, which I as a collector of his man’s perfumes, had to have.

I own a FB. People say this smells like fabric softener. So I did a test. I sprayed superman on a paper towel. I also applied some downy fabric softener on another paper towel. Superman does somehow share some dna with downy. There are some similar notes in there. Maybe some aldehydes. However, downy screams SOAPY and demands immediate water to rinse the soap off. Whereas superman smells like a sweeter fragrance you would wear.
The folks at procter and gamble sell millions of gallons of downy each year, and their chemists make them money by creating a fabric softener smell that appeals to the entire world.
Superman smells unique on its own. I find it a well defined, non generic scent that brings me joy when wearing. A playful vibe. I have gotten two hours of projection and up to 9 hours where I can still faintly smell it on my skin. Enough performance to make me happy. Superman doesn’t just smell good. It takes you somewhere. It moves. It plays. It’s lively and fun. I expect this to be changed the summer of 2018 when a new iteration will probably be released. There are also rumors only the original le male will be continued. I may have to buy a second bottle as a backup.

    Let down by poor longevity.
    disappears within minutes.
    what a shame!
there is really no point when a fragrance disappears so quickly..
(same applies to Popeye edition since they are 100% same fragrances)

Ok scent. Very fresh. summertime. Worth buying

  27. :

    3 out of 5

It’s ok. A very youthful bubble-gum scent. The big and main problem is the lack of power and longevity. It disappears too quickly. A shame, because I like it, but I’ll never pay for something so inconsistent.
Besides, the bottle looks so childish I’d feel embarrassed of keeping it on my collection.

Really love this unique fresh and sweet fragrance, Longevity is ok around 5-6 hour, but the projection is a bit weak. I spray in my shoulder to get more reach.

I just got two compliment from ladies co-worker in the office. I juts passing by in front of her desk and they calling me back saying i’m smell good. The ladies in front of her desk saying that too.
Note that i just re-spray (2 spray) on 1.30pm and i got the compliment on around 3pm.
So i can say the sillage for this fragrance is good.

    THE POWER OF WHIFF!
this is what this jpg super/popeye is.
i have tried at duty free store and all the flight was getting this nice mint semi sweet whiffs that i had to buy this stuff.
longevity good but use it only for casual or fun.
    7.5/10 score

  31. :

Tested both this (Superman) and Popeye, original bottles, on the back of each hand. They are either identical, or so similar its impossible for the regular person to notice any difference at all. I give a better rating for Popeye for being the original scent (don’t see the point of re-branding the can and bottle) and a retro-pinup art that pleases me more, but they’re essentially the same thing.
The contrast between the fresh mint with a touch of vanilla and tonka bean (the signature for JPG Le Male) for the base notes is very appealing to my nose. It doesn’t have the aquatic-fresh vibe of fragrances such as Nautica Voyage, Bvlgari Aqva or Versace pour homme, but rather a fresh-powdery, clean-but-dry vibe instead. If you wish you could use JPG Le Male during the day and/or hot weather, this is perfect for you.
Two important things here: 1 – I don’t get the bubblegum-ish vibe people mention, but it certainly isn’t for the more mature crowd, or formal situations; 2 – Depends on the day this gives me a mild headache. Its not related to temperature, or how hot/cold a day is, maybe humidity. Nautica Voyage reminds me of sea scents, and goes really well on hot, dry days (not so much on rainy days), so I assume this one will work really well on hot, high humidity days. I will upate once I figure it out.
8/10 – Very good quality juice and sprayer, package keeps the bottle safe. Don’t recommend blind-buying this one, go to a local fragrance store or get yourself a tester.

Tried this today and I’m very glad I did not blind buy it based on all the internet hype. This smells cheap and cloying. People were hyping this up to be a fresh summer scent like Allure Homme Sport or Invictus Aqua but no. The mint note in here is grotesque and reminds me of other people’s breath. The tonka and woods are all wrong and end up smelling horrifically powdery and almost with a waxy “cheesy” like feel. All together this creates an unpleasant and cloying sweetness. At full strength this thing is a mess and I couldn’t wait to go wash it off. However, after I showered and tried as hard as I could to get rid of every trace, what was left afterwards was a vaguely floral/herbal and pleasant green scent reminiscent of one of the Hermes colognes. This is a definite pass and a never spray again type of scent. The original Le Male is way better and actually smells pretty nice, this one is an obvious money grab and should not be worn by anybody over the age of 18.

So i don’t know really what to say.but this is a very complicated fragrance.once i wore it all i had smell is a detergent but after one hour it start working.smelling something like bubblegum then mint and vanilla come from the nowhere.it’s different from the original but there’s the DNA there that remind you of monsieur gaultier.

A creamy vanilla with dish detergent.
Different respect to popeye because is more sweet and don’t have mint.performance about 7 h on skin.poor sillage.

  41. :

    5 out of 5

Aldehydes are the strongest note in this and remind me a little of dolce&gabbana red cap.
They smell so fresh and sexy to me.
Behind that is the smooth and sweet tonka bean and i also smell hints of herb.
To me this is unisex, fresh, powdery, sweet. I love it and plan on getting a bottle soon.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

it’s just a watered down le male (which is already reformulated and watered down to the ground), nothing special to decipher here :/
on my skin it projects during the first 30 minutes. completely vanishes from the skin after 2 hours.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

It smells GOOD! It last pretty well, enormous first 1 hour, next couple of hours stays arm length but then becomes a nice skin scent.
definitely an outdoor hot weather scent, even though it is a little sweet. I guess that is the best thing about this scent, a fresh yet sweet HOT weather fragrance.
I believe it does have the Le Male DNA but to a very minimal, I will update this based on people’s response.
So Far, i have received two compliment from my colleagues.
I paid around 70USD for 125ML. I would say its worth it.
strongly recommended for guys living in a tropical climate country.

  44. :

    3 out of 5

I absolutely don’t understand how the majority of people are claiming this is very long lasting with an enormous sillage?!? It smells good, it’s fresh, but the longevity is pretty weak. To be fair it’s “only” an EDP. Factoring in the price and the amount of juice you get it’s still worth it IMHO.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

I must say, I used to not like this fragrance. I bought a full bottle today. All I will say about this fragrance is that girls like it a lot.
Take this with a grain of salt.. I’ve had popeye and this is slightly less sweet.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

Light Gourmand for summer. Smell a bit like good’ol Popeye candy cigarettes. Longevity very good and projection not bad by any means. Other houses has a lot to learn from Gaultier on the creativity and the performance department. I dunno what you guys mean by poor longevity on this one. One spray still giving strong skin scent even after 12+ hours is very good for a summer scent. Contrary to above description, this is available only as 125ml not 75ml.
    8/10

  47. :

    4 out of 5

Not a bad smell. Light bubblegum with mint is what I get. My main issue is that it barely projects and longevity is also quite poor. Became a skin scent within an hour.

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Exactly the same juice as the year before in the “Popeye”
Presentation. A fantastic Spring/Summer scent. Longevity and projection
are moderate to good. More geared to the hotter months as it will perform better in the hot climate. But like many other great fragrances some people have to ruin there rankings simply because they have nothing better to do. Rich bored fucks I imagine. So in a world ful of the above mentioned, go ahead and enjoy this fragrance and look for the positive things in life!

I brought jpg superman this morning i have to say that I do like it.I sprayed it at 10am as I write this It’s nearly 4pm It’s has a hint of le male but it disappears quickly then turns into something different. I was a huge fan of the original le male now I can’t wear it as it’s dated and everyone knows it. This is a great substitute for me to le male. However that being said the projection and longevity isn’t great I can still detect it however it’s now a skin scent thankfully I got it at 20% off. because it’s a summer scent I can’t complain about performance

    Already out here in Europe.
I have the Popeye Edition myself and tested this one on my skin in the shop.

Good for summer, like the clean smell.

This used to be a site where people give honest reviews. These days, people just want to make negative comments without even testing products. This fragrance smells like the Popeye flanker and it smells really nice. On me, it performs really well too. Sillage and projection are really good.
I can understand that some people do not like flankers but because a fragrance is a flanker does not make it bad. I do not understand how this fragrance gets only 1.9 out of 5.
I used to come to this site to get honest and useful reviews. I still do get that but the nagative and snubbish comments from some reviewers who do not even know what they are talking about is what I just don’t like.

Well, trust me or not, but I just find a french local shop brand deodorant that smells EXACTLY like this scent. I’m so so glad because I really like this fresh smell with somehow Le Mâle DNA, but Eau fraîche is a real disappointment. The deodorant costs 1€97/200ml (2$) and last like 15h+, good sillage, moderate projection while the Eau Fraîche, 52€/75ml (55$), has quite poor longevity, weak to moderate sillage and skin close projection.
PS : aluminium free deodorant 😀

    Performance seemed quite poor.

Just got my nose on this today…it’s very pleasant but more of a flanker to last years popeye than the original le male.
I sprayed superman on one hand and popeye on the other and could barely notice the difference even after the drydown, perhaps Superman is a little bit less minty than popeye but it’s hard to notice. Superman had slightly better longevity but projection is still bad.
However it’s still a great scent for those that missed popeye last year.

  63. :

    5 out of 5

A linear, soft fragrance which resembles JPG Popeye to begin with but dries down with a light minty, smoothness…
    I applied 6 heavy sprays
0 – 1 hour – 4 inch projection. This has the bubble gum vibe like Popeye but with a difference – Superman is like bubble gum after it has been sucked for 8 hours, whereas Popeye is like you have just popped it into your chops..
1 hour -5 hours – 1 inch projection only. Such a nice young smell which is quite strong on the skin. Towards the 5th hour the mint shines more on a bed of Tonka. It’s a good Eau Fraiche flanker of Popeye
    5 – 8 hours. Close to skin
    Lovely cute smell, very youthful
    Not bad

Can’t really understand what’s going on here, but, to me, it smells exactly like what I could’ve wait from a summer Le mâle fragrance. I checked Popeye’s notes but to me it’s different. It’s really pleasant, it’s very fresh at first, nice use of mint and aldehydes, then I get this Le mâle vibe, aromatic, sexy, maybe the sage doing this effect. And the more it dries, the more good it becomes, it’s really nice, kind of sweet et and spicy, but not too much, the perfect dose not to kill everyone next to you in high heat. The only ”downside” I give it, is its longevity, mint fragrance doesn’t last that much and it’s an Eau fraiche, so I think it’s totally acceptable considering these facts.

    @ Albin…Secretion Gaultier Minaj?
So is this a winter scent with massive projection and longevity but with summer notes?
I see it has a sunshine accord, most last as long as the sun is out, or maybe the perfume is like superman the sun gives it’s more power

Thought it was a joke, apparently not… I’ve seen it all now.
When is the doomsday intense version coming out?

It maybe the same as Popeye but at least they are keeping eau fraiche alive and well. That said I think despite my dislike of Superman, he is a perfect fit for the Le Male bottle.
