Description

Bath and Body Works presents a new, limited fragrance Butterfly Flower accompanied with perfume body care collection, which is very charming, playful and ideal for spring. The fragrance was inspired by nature and natural nuances and feminine games of butterflies in a sun-bathed spring garden.

The fragrance is dominated by floral notes of French mimosa petals, Asian syringa flower, tangerine and orchid. The fragrance opens with accords of black tea, tangerine juice, cyclamen and banana. A heart incorporates Maxillaria Tenufolia orchid, syringa flower, French mimosa, while a base encompasses coconut milk and musk.

Butterfly Flower is available in limited number, as75ml EDT, along with perfumed body care collection, which includes bath, body lotion, shower gel, body cream, and hand cream, as well as fragrance mist. Butterfly Flower was launched in 2009.

My favorite scent of all time! It smells just like the mimosa tree in my front yard as I was growing up in Oklahoma. If anyone finds something similar, I’d love to know about it, since this has sadly been discontinued.

I LOVE this scent!! I wish they still had it in the stores. Recently used up my last shower gel of this scent.

It smells like a powdery banana scent to me. I personally don’t like like it, but my mom loves it

To me this smells like honeysuckle more than anything. It is a light hearted, happy, springy, green scent. I didn’t know banana leaf is where a lot of fragrances get their fresh cut grass scent. That explains why one of the fragrance oils I use called Fresh Cut Grass smells like a green banana peel.

Had this one a while back. Love the floral at first, but its overpower by a grassy , chemical, bugspray type smell on me. sample this first , its very strong grassy note. Not enough sweet floral for me . too much grass. too bad.

My SOTD is Bath and Body Works, Butterfly Flower. This is THE HAPPIEST little mimosa scent ever! It reminds me of being in Tulum during the Monarch migration season, and getting caught in a field of butterflies all around me — I felt like I had truly witnessed the divinity of nature that day. It was one of the most magical moments of my life. This fragrance smells happy, fresh, light and carefree. I only wish it would last longer, but at this price point, I don’t mind spraying again and again.

I love the concept of this fragrance because it really does try to capture the real fragrance of a butterfly flower. I have two butterfly bushes and the flowers themselves smell like a cross between mimosa and heliotrope (powdery & sweet) and the stems aren’t grassy, indeed reminiscent of banana peel.
It’s impressively niche of Bath and Body Works following the same concepts used in Tom Ford and Jo Malone fragrances except affordable to everyone.

Im only left with the mist now. They need to relaunch the full line of this. This scent is amazing, it literally smells like flowers. Nothing synthetic to it. It takes me back to my country town by the sea in Greece(Antirrio), this is how the streets smell during summer. Smells like Albizia, the tree with the fuzzy pink flowers. I have no words for this wonderful fragrance. I need an EDT or EDP version, altho the mist lasts long too.

    Springtime in A Hurry!
This is full-on lilac, orchid, freshly cut grass (which is from the banana leaf), honeysuckle, and a little coconut and musk in the dry-down. Sweet and realistic. When I’m in the mood for warm days and gardens, this is perfect.

The sun is shining and warm, but there’s still a very slight chill in the breeze. The smell of the air is redolent of cut grass, blooming flowers. There’s a kiss of banana (leaf) and some exotic notes that give a foreshadowing of the summer to come. I LOVE the addition of the tea note, too! Butterfly Flower really made me FEEL spring, and it’s snowing today! I find BF romantic and feminine, a truely lovely floral. It’s clean and sweet and innocent. I remember when Butterfly Flower was first released some years back – I was far from impressed. When it disappeared from the shelves I didn’t notice. Now that it’s been relaunched I am wondering why I never stopped to appreciate it. I only have it in the body mist and lotion since the EDT form isn’t offered, but the mist alone has lasted over 4 hours on me today, which is a rare occurrence with B&BW’s fine fragrance mists, so I don’t think I need to own the EDT. I am very grateful for this little breath of spring!

My mom surprise gifted me with the EDP of this scent several years ago when it premiered in April, just as the weather was beginning to warm up. From the first spray it smelled like full blown spring! I got a gorgeous whiff of mimosa petals, tangerine and another floral note I didnt recognize at the time. So sad that BBW discontinued yet another classic scent! (Is is just me or do they seem to keep the medocre scents as part of their “Signature Collection” and ditch the more complex scents)?
UPDATE: BBW apprently decided to bring back some the fan favorite fragrances with this one among them. YAY! However they’re only in body spray form and not edp unfortunately. BUT, at least now we know that BBW has learned to listen to their consumers wants!

Butterfly Flower from BBW is one of my favorite scents. Was bummed they stopped selling it at the store but found you can still purchase it online at their website. Look out for specials buy 2 get 1 free or my favorite, buy 3 get 3 free. I agree with those who mentioned great sillage on this fragrance.

The linden trees in my hometown are blooming right now, and that’s exactly what this reminds me of–that fresh, green, nectar-y scent. Other people smell banana or watermelon in this (and so do I, now that they’ve pointed it out), but my dominant impression is still of linden blossoms. Very nostalgic.

one thing about b&b products, they do go fast (as in being discontinued). i had this and loved it. very honeysuckle on me, which i loved. I think it was one of the best honeysuckle fragrances I’ve ever had. longevity and projection was very good. it was just a lovely spring/summer scent that I wish they would bring back.

My husband was actually the one that REALLY liked this one and he bought it for me. I liked it pretty well for such a sweet scent. It was very summery and feminine. My only issue with it was that bees liked it too.

This is one of my favorite spring fragrances. It’s just fresh and light, and I love it.

This always smells like phlox to me. I like it but it’s not a favorite. I wear it on days I want to be reminded of my childhood of catching buttflies in my grandmother’s garden filled with phlox. It was a great cure for home sickness while I lived outside the country. The name is very fitting to it. It’s a pretty soft floral scent.

I can understand the appeal of this one, though if you smell it up close on the skin it has an odd, latex-like quality. It’s not too sweet, or floral, or fruity. Instead, it’s a very nice, balanced composition, without the “symphonic” quality of many older florals (so it doesn’t come across as “old lady”). I see this as excellent for the office or school, particularly in warmer weather. I have a bit over an ounce I can swap, as it’s not “unisex” enough for me (USA only).
UPDATE: Over time, this reminds me a bit of Fire Island (though without as much of the “suntan lotion” quality, which I don’t like anyway), but this one isn’t as crude or “chemical” as that one, so I’d certainly rather wear this one instead.

I never gave this perfume a chance until it was to late. I really like the yellow flora’s in this but what I really love is the scent of fresh cut grass. Which is weird because grass is not a note listed. I don’t smell the banana or orchid at all. This is not a overpowering scent for me but I like strong perfumes that last all day.

I like it but I don’t love it. bought the travel sized one. I loved this scent at first, but got bored before it ran out. it’s too….. flowery. And it didn’t last long on me. Too bad. kinda smells like body shop’s moonflower though

Bananas and tea in a perfume? Who woulda thunk it? Well, Bath and Body Works did. B&BW often comes up with oddball combinations that are more amusing than pleasing. But Butterfly Flower is a delight. Bananas, tangerines, tea, and just cut grass make this fresh and clean with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s a bit light for the cold months, a bit too girlish for the office. But it’s a great scent for “me” time and just made for spring. This would also be a great starter perfume for the budding perfumenista. Butterfly Flower was a limited release perfume from B&BW that quickly became pricey on sites like ebay — a testament to it’s desirability among it’s fans. It has been relaunched for a limited time. Stock up now.

Got a compliment on this (towards the end of the day, no less), so that speaks to both the freshness and longevity of this beauty.

I like this one. It’s a bit strong, but I wear it about three times a month in spring and summer. Really bold floral.

Luckily for my body chemistry there is nothing at all in any way synthetic about Butterfly Flower. It was simply a masterpiece though and though. Very fresh, gentle, womanly, mature fragrance. It smelled like a fresh garden in the morning. Flowers upon flowers but delivered gently. Faint aroma of fresh cut roses, orchid, green notes, crisp notes. I love the banana leaf and the hints of coconut. Such a wonderful natural floral. Butterfly Flower had and still has quite a following(more so than their Cherry Blossom). Why it was discontinued is beyond me because it never seemed to be collecting dust on the shelves. I hope whoever is behind these careless decisions is or already has been fired.

I just tried this about half an hour ago. I really enjoyed the feminine & green scent that it had to it at first. It came off as a very earthy honeysuckle-like scent (maybe that’s the mimose?) But after a few minutes, I grew a little green myself. :/ Maybe I smelled it too much? It’s still a nice fragrance but it can become a little overwhelming. Good for Spring and Summer, but I may return this and get my favorite, Wild Honeysuckle (also discontinued this year. Go figure).

I used to wear this fragrance a lot and regularly got compliments for it. At first, what attracted me the most was the mimose, one of my favorite scents.
I don’t know if I wore it too much, but now I find it too spicy and I’m struggling to finish the bottle.

  30. :

I loved, loved this fragrance. Literally got a compliment everyday i wore it. Smells like my favorite flower to me, Lillies. If any of the “don’t like it” people have it and want to sell it to me (I’m in CA) please let me know how much! I went into BBW today because they had a buy three get three free (I’m in college) and discovered it was discontinued. (I stocked up last year when the same deal was going on… and was heart broken it’s gone.)
Love seeing all the descriptions and reviews.
    Thanks!
Lily Pad… ha ha ha, j/k

This is a unique scent for B&BW. The banana note comes in with tea at the beginning for a fresh opening, then settles down into the florals (the orchid is very nice). The slight note of coconut compliments the banana, but without smelling like this is a perfume straight from the tropics. Instead the tropical scents blend into the florals very well, making a very complex scent for the price. It’s light, fresh, and perfect for spring and summer. It’s unfortunately been discontinued.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I have a real love/hate relationship with B&BW these days, because so much of what they put out has a strong, sickly sweet vanilla undertone to it, and I hate sweet fragrances and I absolutely despise vanilla! But occasionally they get it right, as is the case with Butterfly Flower. This scent is concentrated springtime! It really does smell like the butterfly plants that grew around my house as a child. Now the question is, how long until they discontinue it — every time B&BW makes a fragrance I love (Green Clover & Aloe, Calming Waters), they stop making it within a year or two, while the really odorous ones (Sweet Pea, Cucumber Melon, Vanilla Sugar) they just keep cranking out forever!

This was the only scent that my fiance ever went out of his way to say smelled good to him when I put it on. Unfortunately, I got bored with it quickly, myself. I think I’m going to stick to my vanilla and coconut scents. 🙂

This is a beautful pure floral fragrance, with just a touch of fruitiness, but not overly sweet. This is very nonoffensive and smells wonderful.

What a relief to see banana listed in the notes of BBW BUTTERFLY FLOWER. I was wondering whether the SIRA DES INDES-like banana-ish facet of this fragrance was a figment of my imagination. Phew! Yes, this is a big fat floral fragrance with a tropical vibe and, specifically, a serious banana side. I am most familiar with this scent from the bath gel and lotion, but after my bath this morning, I decided to take out my sample vial of the edt and luxuriate in a triple layer of this scent. Then, to my great surprise, I also found that I had a huge bottle of the special edition Fragrant Waters BUTTERFLY FLOWER splash, which has been tweaked somewhat from the original, but is close enough to bear the same name. Knowing that I would soon be drenched in perspiration as I made my way to the library, I sprayed the Fragrant Waters splash all over my body before departing.
All in all, I’d say that this is a winner. I generally prefer the body products to the straight-up fragrances of BBW, and BUTTERFLY FLOWER is no exception to that general rule. However, I would definitely recommend this particular edt to gals who like big, billowy, voluptuous florals a la FRACAS. Here we have mimosa, orchid, and syringa rather than tuberose as the focus. Is the quality the same? Of course not. But the spirit is definitely here, and I might even consider adding a bottle of BUTTERFLY FLOWER edt to my collection now that my bath gel is gone. Recommended!
Update: whoops–too late! It’s already been discontinued! /-:

I bought the fragrance mist to take with me traveling as a day scent because it reminds me much of my “signature”, Always and Forever by Jessica McClintock. I would also characterize it as a green floral as the tea is so definite–I don’t feel it’s citrusy at all (where’s that banana?!). It reminds me of sweet cut grass.

  37. :

Smells like gardenia and freesia. Use a light touch with this one, it can be very strong. A great summer time fragrance, I would definately avoid it during the cooler months.

  38. :

This scent is beautiful. Just like the name. I would categorize this as Green Floral though, because it’s definitely not fruity. The Banana only serves as a complimentary opening note. It might be overpowering at first, but wait until 15 minutes and it will give you the most beautiful soft scent of flower meadows in the spring. Extremely feminine scent and this perfume is actually the flowery scent that I can wear.

I love this for spring. It reminds me of a favorite childhood memory: the smell of dewy grass on a happy Saturday morning in my backyard, honeysuckle blooming.

  40. :

I think this one is green category and it’s not enough floral or fruity for me. I smell only green notes in it.
Nice name, but the perfume isn’t like a butterfly (neither like a flower). I expected more.

I liked this the first time I sniffed it. I only smelled honeysuckle. I got a large candle of this and several people other than just myself thought this smelled like kerosene. I returned it. I’m not sure if the candle wrecked it for me or not. I can take it or leave it I guess. I haven’t smelled anyone wear this and I have no desire to try it on myself since “the incident”. I think if ever I want a honeysuckle scent though, I’ll go elsewhere!

  42. :

Smells more like honeysuckle then their honeysuckle perfume! I love it, i see a lot of people don’t, but it’s a wonderful scent to wear on a hot summer day or a warm spring day, it fits the mood. It is very sweet, but for me it wasn’t too sweet. As for smelling like mold? No way! It just smells like straight up honeysuckle to me, even though there is no honey suckle on the list of fragrances. lol!

  43. :

I didn’t like this one. It was too sweet and floral for me. It made my nose burn, on the upside, it was long-lasting even through washing my hands and arm.

  44. :

I think that Butterfly FLower might smell good on others but for me it wasn’t anything special. I like that the scent isn’t overwhelmingly sweet its pretty clean but I don’t like it that much.

spraying this is like a blast of fresh flowers. reminds me of summer, and i love to wear it while laying outside in the sun. unfortunately, i’ve found that a lot more women fall in love with this than men. most people have a love/hate relationship with it.

It’s like a rose and a honeysuckle had a baby…I LOVE IT!!! It’s such a beautiful refreshing scent…very floral…not too much musk which I’m glad the musk isn’t overpowering…it would take away from it all.

I love Mimosa anything !”You can smell the mimosa , its just like our mimosa tree in the back yard
a rich buttercup smell that I love , love , love a bit flowery , its subtil to me , my skin is dry so it absorbs fast , but the lotion makes my skin very soft and fragrant smelling , when mixed togteher with the EDT it makes me feel pretty like a woman should smell .
They are packaged so pretty, this scent is a favorite of mine .
It is so unique and does have a luxurious allure to it .

I missed the tea and banana in the opening of BBW Butterfly Flower. I mainly experienced a heavy floral with a little musk. I can enjoy a heavier floral on occasion but this fragrance borders on cloying. Butterfly Flower wants to be a great scent, but the overkill on the ingredients make it impossible. I am sadly disappointed with this fragrance. I rate it 2 out of 10.

DISGUSTING. I don’t understand why so many people like this stench! It smells like wet sour mold- or I guess to me or maybe my bottle was off. It is a disaster!! I’m sorry but I can’t identify any pleasant notes because of such an overpowering moldy smell!

Got this buy 2 get 1 free so I chose this and twilight woods and ps i love you and I like them all but this is really fresh and flowery smells like fresh dandelions or something I like it and it lasts and the bottle and packaging is sooooo frickin pretty I love butterflies!

Fresh green bananas and Honeysuckle. Really liked the lotion after using some of the girl’s from work and couldn’t wait to try the Edt. Really adore that scent of a real banana but don’t think I can tolerate the composition of the fragrance as a whole. Guess, the lotion will have to do. It’s nice but I’ll have to get my banana fix elsewhere.

Aredore’s description of the banana note in this is spot on! However, while she doesn’t like it, I do. In fact, very much! This scent starts out with the aforementioned green banana and dries to a syringa scent that is very similar to the one found in Annick Goutal’s Eau de Camille. Very fresh, green and lush. Also bright and sparkly. I think I prefer it during the Winter. Very pretty. Good job, Bath & Body Works! PS: boyfriend dislikes both this one and Goutal’s Camille. So does mom. Oh, well, what do they know, lol.

I think this is a beautiful and light scent. It smells very similar to Wild Honeysuckle from B&BW, but I get a sense of a more complex scent. The drydown is a bit sour in my opinion, but I still really enjoy it.

  55. :

The negative reviews surprise me on this one, but I’ll just chalk it up to individual chemistry and taste. I’m not much of a floral lover, not by any stretch, but this one grabbed me. An opening blast of Honeysuckle and Hyacinth faded into watery clear notes that dried towards the mimosa, orchids and tangerine. As much as I don’t care for fruity florals, this one is gorgeous. Light and sheer while still having lasting power, I’m liking it a lot. Perhaps cooler weather will see it on the shelf but at 75 degrees and up these days, this is working very well for me.

Tried this in the store today. My friend got a very vivid memory of scented crayons from childhood. I got BANANA. But not banana like the candied banana you would expect. It smelled *very specifically* of banana peel and the little stringy bits that come off the fruit whenever your peel a fresh one.
It was sort of like playing “apples to apples” with a perfume sample.
    I was not impressed.

  57. :

    4 out of 5

Too much sweetness and flowers, it is overpowering to my nose. I find it tries too hard to be overly floral. It reminds me of a previous BBW scent, Enchanted Orchid. Really nothing new for BBW. Thumbs down.

  58. :

    5 out of 5

Butterfly flower was an incredibly realistic flower scent to my nose. Truly, it smelled like a certain waxy orange flower whose name is escaping me at the moment. One sniff and I could see this flower in a sunlit garden, swaying gently in the breeze. Most floral perfumes smell like. . . well, a perfumey interpretation of a flower, but this one really captured the flower-sniffing experience very well. The scent overall is not quite my taste, but I was impressed nonetheless. If you’re seeking a new floral for Spring, give this one a try!

My friend stopped by yesterday and she smelled divine! I immediately asked her what she was wearing and to my surprise she said it was a Butterfly flower from BBW.Not bad!!!It is both fresh and sweet and heady.I can smell banana, magnolia, tangerine juice – but altogether it reminded me of a sweet pea from my garden, so if you like sweet pea flowers, you`d probably like this one.For some reason it emits the aura of a happy woman – that`s how feminine it is.

Ahh- it looks like the new “it” note is banana. I do have to admit, I like “Butterfly Flower’s” banana much more than the ovverripe, overpowering banana I get from “Ed Hardy”. However, I was a little bit dissapointed- with a name like “Butterfly Flower” I was expecting something much more… you know… floral. However, after drydown, the fruity sweet seems to subside somewhat, and a more distinctly floral scent emerges. At first spray, this is OK- after 30 minutes or so, it is a real keeper!

Butterfly Flower, Bath & Body Works newest release, is indeed a beautiful fragrance smelling of flowers and sunshine in a summer garden and bright butterflies flitting. The scent opens
with a citrusy fruit tea note, soon giving way to a heady rush of syringa, a gorgeous Asian flower, supported by
mimosa and orchid. I do not detect the surprise notes of banana and coconut, but the perfume is remniscent of L’Artisan Parfumeurs Le Chasses des Papillons in imagery and fragrance at a fraction of cost!
A very nice new scent to try for spring and summer wear! Thumbs up for Butterfly Flower!!
