Smokey, soapy, sweet and rich! Something between old school and modern… jasmine is touchable easily after 30 minuets when Smokey – soapy vibe calms down …. at that point gets unisex in my opinion… suitable for colder seasons
If you’re fan of old school stars like brut,Kouros, aramis, one man show and … you can enjoy this one as well

The more I wear and smell this the more it smells like spicebomb to me except this lasts all day long . Spicebomb comes off more sweet and spicy whereas this comes off a little more smoky and minty with spice . It’s still a good scent but I prefer spicebomb infact I might get spicebomb extreme.

One of the few fragrances that changes dramatically throughout its lifespan. It starts off as a dense but fresh spicy-floral with a strong lavender presence. Then in its second phase you begin to notice more of the patchouli and aquatic elements, which gives a general vibe of the smell of a lake to me (unique, not a bad thing). Then it finishes with a warm woody amber drydown. A great fragrance. Performance is also very good.

This smells creamy something greeny. It’s very light fragrance not strong at all . Reminds me of spicebomb and Ted Lapidus black soul IMPERIAL.

Liked it initially but the More i wear this the more i picked cheap synthetic nuances . Full bottle is too much for this scent .

Black Gold is a spicy-floral with a heady arrangement to it. The underbelly has an incense-like depth to it, with that same smokey-abrasive texture you get from incense notes.
I get a small package of heavily sugared florals (but not one distinctively) with a light brush of cinnamon, nutmeg, and woods. The amber, leather, oud, and sea notes are expertisely blended into the background, rounding out the body into various multi-faceted dimensions.
Smells like something you’d find in a gypsy shop—or maybe a fortune teller’s room. Heady, sweet, and slightly mystifying.
For a moment, I thought the name Black Gold was a reference for licorice, because got a strong impression of a heavily sweetened licorice accord in the opening moments, something like in Aoud Black Candy (although a bit more grannyish).
And that’s kind of my final take on this—Nejla took Aoud Black Candy and chicken-scratched on it. It’s exceptionally well-composed and complexified. There’s definitely a demographic for this style, but the style here is definitely special. Call it exotic—or just very classy.

If you found this gem discounted, GET IT.
Safe blind buy, extremely beautiful scent, tons of smooth and well blended notes:
spices, fruits, sweet citruses, florals, amber, ashy leathery oud. Stunning performance/quality and one of my top complement garners in my collection.

To me this is a lavender based fragrance.
The opening is herbal, fresh, and unmistakably masculine.
When I tried this for the first time, I actually thought it reminded me of those ”vintage” scents from the 70s/80s.
I do get lavender throughout and the spices and woods blend in nicely. The composition is floral but I don’t really see a female pulling this off.
The performance is great. The opening may be harsh for some even so beware. A great release from Mancera, surely something different than the usual rose/oud combo.
    7/10

To me this fragrance is a very unique and sophisticated.
It smells very diffrent to most of fragrances Out there!
This is a well made high quality parfum. I know a few people dislike this, but I personally love it.

Beautiful fragrance although a bit too floral on my skin, making it lean more on the feminine side. I would consider this unisex rather than a purely masculine fragrance. The lavender and violet are strong players. Not my kind of fragrance but I can see it being liked by many.

It would be perfect without the marine notes.

It smells very sexy to me. It opens with floral + spicy + leather notes and then turns to be aquatic and vanillic sweet.

    Fragrance -Black Gold Mancera
    Bottle from – 2017
Black Gold opens with a burst of a bit fresh and sharp citruses mingled with warm spices and with a wisper of flowers and pleasant oud lurking at the edges.
Within an hour or so,intense, spicy and a bit wicked bouquet of flowers starts to emerge and bring some sexiness into the game. This all leads into a woody, moderatly sweet, musky and earthy base with a nice touch of vetiver, musk and amber and with a wisper of fine leather.
    Longevity – 10/10(11+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 9/10(heavy projection and silage for the first 3-4 hours)
Weather -best in early spring, autumn and winter.
    Age – 27+
    Compliments – 7/10
    Scent – 8,5/10
Main notes according to me – cinnamon, lavender, violet, rose, citruses, patchouli, musk.
The drydown is a bit woody, spicy, moderatly sweet and musky and I get some -woodiness,vetiver,musk,leather and amber.
    Emotions -wicked,dark vibe elegance,sexy,seductive,playful, decadent.
Occasion -perfect for nights out and semi-formal events.
    Try before you buy.

Upon first smelling this the Rose and Violet jump out and remind me instantly of an old lady perfume. After giving it a couple of seconds to breathe, however, the Leather note (which to my nose is more of a smokey tobacco note) makes its grand entrance.
Even so, I find this leaning towards the feminine side much the same way the Dior Homme line does with the Iris note. The main players in this are the Triforce of Rose, Violet and Leather, followed by hints of Cinnamon and Lavender. It’s a powdery scent for sure.
Scent 7.5/10. Nice, elegant, but those around you will probably smell “rich old lady” on you.

This confuses me in a good way. Aquatic with cinnamon and leather? What? And then the lavender and iris, it all seems wrong but the scent is really interesting and nice in reality. Definitely unique and unlike anything I’ve smelled before. And that is super rare in my books.

This is just my initial thoughts after spraying my sample for the first time. This is one of the best first impressions i have had for a long time! It smells very unique and reminds me of no other cologne. I didn’t think i was going to like it so much but it comes across as a hyper-versatile and extremely pleasant scent. I get like a really really fresh cake vibe! I think you could even wear this in the summer. So far, i am very impressed.
Edit- after a second try, i started to not like it as much! The spray cap of the sample even had a fishy vibe going on. Very dramatic rise and fall for my opinion on this one.

  21. :

    5 out of 5

Didn’t like it at first (thought it was too feminine) but now think that it’s “nice”.
Not a fan of florals but the notes are pretty light here. I get the citrus and cinnamon combo right away. Longevity is decent and sillage is moderate to heavy .
    Worth consideration.
UPDATE: Got a “double” compliment from my wife (morning and early evening). This is unheard of so I bought a bottle!

I just bought a bottle of this, and I have to say I’m impressed. I have mixed feelings about Montale/Mancera scents. Intense Cafe was nice…but pretty intense for me. Cedrat Boise was a nice fragrance, though in the end, I simply prefer wearing Creed Aventus over it.
Mancera Black Gold is a beautiful scent. I need to spend more time testing it, but the opening is beautiful with light citruses, cinnamon, lavender and oud. The oud is light, which was exactly what I hoped it would be. I can detect the rose (soft), and I’m not sure if it is the rose or the lavender, but something ‘calms’ the oud and reduces the ‘medicinal’ quality of oud that I don’t like.
The leather is prominent as well and being a fan of violet in my fragrances, I am happy violet is in the mid of this scent along with the patchouli. The amber and leather make up the base of this fragrance. All are blended quite well together. The leather is also not too ‘heavy’ – more suede-like which one again (like Oud) I prefer softer and subtle in a composition.
All in all – this is sexy, warm yet not heavy scent. Definitely worth taking a closer look at this fragrance!

To me this is another recycled creation from mancera covering the same DNA as Montale – Aoud melody and these two both have that overly floral vibe with a soft transparent rose backed by the leather which is super smooth accompanied by the subtle spices, they have that airy quality about them as well. This has been getting a lot of praise but unfortunately I cant add anything positive since I’m not a fan at all! Sample for sure!

Unique aromatic leather with a hint of something sweet. Its a top notch fragrance. As with most mancera, performance is great. This is an impressive one in my opinion.
    Edit
Alright… this is just simply one of the best ones I’ve come across. Deep, seductive and warm – without crushing you with the rose/oud that we have come to expect from mancera. Easily one of the best I’ve smelled. In regard to other reviews – I’ve had a different experience with this: namely, I can’t really pick out the citrus. As I mentioned before, this doesn’t blast you with rose/oud like many of the others. Sure, it’s in there, but it takes a back seat to the leather and cinnamon – and is further subdued by the patchouli. With that said, it feels very well blended and offers such a pleasing smell that seems to project for quite a while – even with only one spray. While I haven’t tested this outside on a hot summer day, it certainly feels like a cool weather scent. It’s also easy enough to be an every day grab for those who like a sweet, yet dark aromatic. A+!

I’m getting a lot more aromatic from this fragrance than I’m getting leather. And my preferred aromatic fragrance is Costume National Homme. I guess everyone has their own preferred herbs.
This to me smells like a gender neutral fragrance. Maybe slightly more masculine than feminine, but not a lot.
I’m not really a fan of citrus, so maybe that is why this isn’t impressing me as much as some other Manceras do.
It’s certainly an accomplished scent that would appeal to many people – both as wearers and as smellers.
I was hoping I’d love this scent because the bottle looks so cool painted matte black along with the gold type and the gold cap. Not sure about the practical aspect (how do you know how much perfume is left?) but it certainly looks fantastic.

What a nice fragrance! Here is one of Mancera’s lastest additions, simply stunning!
Mancera Black Gold opens with a floral, yet cherry smoky kind of an aroma, although no cherry is listed in the note breakdown the smokiness could be as a result of the oud spices mixing with the citrus notes…maybe?
    In the opening, I get Lavendar, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and some Woods. Black Gold is dark, yet bold; sweet and musky at the same time mysterious and inviting;
I love the toned down Rose here; the Rose isn’t as brash as in some of the other Mancera offerings. That doesn’t mean the brash Rose is not to my liking in the other offerings, just not as pungent! Here, I get a nice blend of sweetness-Citrus, Marine notes, some florals [Egyptian jasmine, White musk, Violet] also some Amber, Oud, Vetiver, and Patchouli, however they aren’t over-bearing nor loud but very balanced.
    Mancera Black Gold:
Longevity-9/10; this stuff is potent just as many of their other offerings, this is no different
    Performance: 8.5/10
    Silage-9/10
    Overall-9/10
This was a blind buy; I am glad to have this in my collection! A great fragrance with great longevity that really blossoms once sprayed!
P.S. has a slight Herod or Spicebomb sweet smokiness to it; even a Habdan [PdM] cherry smoke vibe [doesn’t smell like those, just a point of reference].

The best 2017 release from Mancera. Stunning opening with citrus, lavender, spices, and light oud. After 30 minutes, floral notes and sea notes blend in beautifully. The oud gets lighter and lighter over time. The stars of the show are soft suede leather and dry but fresh patchouli. The fragrance smells very sophisticated and expensive.
The performance is very satisfying. The longevity is more than 12 hrs on skins and days on fabrics. I’m very glad that the projection is moderate and it does leave a trail behind me. I wore this at work, after 7 hrs, I walked by a coworker and she said, “wow, you smell very nice”.
    Scent: 10/10
    Projection: 8/10
    Sillage: 9/10
Originality: 9/10 (The opening does remind me of Uden. But the heart and dryout are totally unique)
Totally, the scent is definitely 10/10. It is still hard to find in the states.
