Description
“CLEAN BREATH OF LONDON.
Serious freshness without frivolity. The fragrance is inspired by the clean breath of the city after the showers pass. Gentlemen step out from under protective storefront canopies, their impeccable British style uncompromised. Bergamot, cardamom and violet establish a strong core, tempered by a birch tree and patchouli base. Zesty and triumphant with a soft echo of the storm.” – a note from the brand.

While Morning Chess is considered to be Vilhelms Parfumeries take on Aventus, it is obvious that Black Citrus also is heavily inspired by the former.
Black Citrus opens with a really fresh and juicy bergamot and dries down dark, woody, smokey and slightly herbal.
The heavy birch/patchouly base is very reminiscent of smokier Aventus-batches, but its still very much its own scent.
All in all its a lovely and very high quality fragrance.

I really like this perfume. It has a citrusy yet sweet smell that gets better as it settles on the skin. Downside: not very longlasting. People’s skin pH might change the scent of perfumes so whatever works for someone may not work for someone else. Best is to try.
Scent: 10/10
Longevity: 6/10
Sillage: 8/10

It’s not bad, but for whatever reason, I get a little bit of an asparagus smell during the dry down…

This citrus is a bit weird. I like citruses to be light and airy, but this is the opposite: kind of a heavy, gothic citrus. It must be the cardamom giving it that crazy dark vibe.
