Description

Beyond Paradise is a tropical fantasy in a nice colorful bottle.
“The scent transports you to a perfect world of optimism and wonder. Unfolds on your skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness, zesty freshness and bursting floralcy”.

The composition includes a lot of exotic flowers (this is so typical for Estee Lauder, who loved flowers), rare fruits and woods. EL discovered and used exotic flowers which were unknown to perfumery through a partnership with the Eden project, the largest botanical conservatory in Europe (Scotland).

The fragrance opens with Eden mist which gives a long lasting tropical wet effect, rare flowers (orange blossom and blue hyacinth) and fruits (Jaboticaba berry). The floral heart is a burst of exotic flowers: laelia orchid, pink honeysuckle, Japanese mahonia. The base is no less exotic, consists of Natal plum blossom, golden melaleuca, zebrano wood, ambrette seed.
The perfume was created by Calice Becker 2003.

By reading the notes, this should be my signature fragrance but… Oh well, I can’t stand this one. I’d rather wear Poison Hypnotic non stop, as it is way less overpowering and sweet. Maybe there’s something wrong with my bottle, because most people claim it’s very fresh. A huge no from me, kind of reminds me of Alien. Longevity is unbelievable though.

Estee Lauder has come a long way – from Youth Dew and Cinnabar to Beyond Paradise! I couldn’t believe at first that BP is indeed an EL fragrance, it’s so very unlike the other EL’s in my collection.
Sadly, BP is a miss in a big assortment of hits. It’s a generic sweet and fruity fragrance with that hint of cheapness so many modern scents have. Thin and watery, BP doesn’t wear well on my skin, the fruit notes dominate. The fragrance does stick around, like most EL scents.
The bottle is pretty, in a cheap way. There’s nothing classic about this perfume, and nothing classy either.
It reminds me of many celeb frags I’ve tried and disliked.

I’d buy this again if they changed it back to the pretty bottle

I never really got the ” paradise” aspect. Even though the advertising doesn’t outright say “tropical” I was expecting a tropical scent. This is more old school floral slightly fruity slightly effervescent. I was gifted this and felt it didn’t suit me so gave it to an aunt who collected Estee Lauder. She enjoyed it and while I admired the scent it was just not ” me”.
The rainbow bottle was pretty. I HATE that EL is using generic bottles these days.

My first impression was summer night, cicadas.
    Phase 1. lily + hyacinth
Phase 2. steamy greenhouse full of Cattleyas + traces of lily-of-the-valley, honeysuckle and apple blossom
    Phase 3. mock orange.
I like it. Sometimes Beyond Paradise turns kind of indolic (it depends on weather). My friend gave me a sample – she coudnt stand the mock orange note.
When I spray too much I can scent minty, pharmacy-like note. It is a little bit plasticky too but that’s the way Cattleyas smell.

One of my first grown up perfumes, I got a bottle of Beyond Paradise EDP again for nostalgia’s sake. Wore it as a college freshman and I enjoyed it back then, especially during rainy days. The new version (in the sleek rectangular bottle) triggers the same feelings–Beyond Paradise is like a tropical rainforest or a greenhouse where a thousand flowers bloom–it is wet and uplifting and transparent and puts me in a good mood. So happy to have this back in my collection.
PS: I don’t understand the negative reviews, but hey, fragrance is personal and highly subjective. Bottomline is it’s unlike today’s run of the mill sugar-water-fruity-florals, Beyond Paradise EDP doesn’t smell like anything else in my collection.

Estee Lauder fragrances luckily always seem to jive with my body chemistry, and Beyond Paradise is no exception. A wet, dreamy rainforest of exotic flowers, it makes me feel like I’m Eve delighting in the primeval garden. Citrus, white flowers, a tropical wetness. Eden’s Mist indeed. And of course the bottle is fabulous in its rainbow colors and raindrop shape (new bottle is just ho-hum). My favorite aspect of it is that it doesn’t really smell like anything I know. It’s magical, in that way.

To preface: new bottle is hideous, scent is glorious.
Rich, tropical white flowers. Reminiscent of EL Tuberose Gardenia but not as thoroughly gardenia, and not as squeaky clean. BP has a richness that underlies the florals, not exactly skank but something not entirely good girl, either.
Sillage and projection are good but not overpowering. I think this is well-executed. I look forward to using this all through the summer.

Considering Estée Lauder is my favorite fragrance house, I just knew that Beyond paradise had to smells wonderfull I opened my package and opened up my mini of BP and I knew I had smelled this before? So I looked through the perfumes mini that I have and it hit me this smells like intuition. Long story short I don’t like intuition and was very sad too admit that I don’t like BP!!! I’ll stick with my beautiful instead…

Interesting that it is not listed in the notes but i get a very strong tiare note in this one. Heavenly tropic flowers with a burst of fresh fruits.
İt is heady so might not be the best choice for hot summer days.

My grandmother received this from a friend when I was a tween and didn’t like it, so she gave it to me (proof that this is not a grandma fragrance). At that young age, the only note I could identify was the honeysuckle, and I was very into it. This wasn’t my first perfume, but it was the first one I really liked. The honeysuckle stuck in my head and the rainbow bottle seemed somehow magical, and this became, in my young mind, the perfume of all perfumes. I never forgot about that honeysuckle note, and I’ve recently rediscovered this fragrance. The honeysuckle is still there and I smile every time I wear this. It’s a happy, beautiful floral fragrance, and I’m glad it hasn’t lost its magic over the last ten years.

I’m so grateful for your reviews! I’v always thought that this is a typical tropical sent with fruits, coconut… But you wrote about forests and white florals and magic… and it is all of these things. Fairy tale and at the same time so close to nature. It has that fresh, vivid, soothing vibe of spring and early summer flowers, with all the leaves, and grass and dewdrops… That’s what I love in Pleasures and Gucci Bloom too.

Got loads of compliments on this one. Young and old, men and women. Love it. The teardop bottle is gone but as long as the scent stays the same, this is a keeper.

    Love or hate?
It has to be love for me.
Bought in Montecarlo the year it launched, during a lovely holiday taken to watch the Grand Prix, I went on using it for years afterward; the spell of the holiday kept lingering in the air, and I liked that a lot.
It is one of those scent you capture on a woman passing by, a flowery, green whiff of distant, exotic lands which keeps you wonder what, what on earth she’s wearing?
That is exactly what everyone that smelled it on me asked. It’s a full blast of flowers; not at all unpleasant if you like them! And very unlike freshners, although in these days room fragrances have evolved into master pieces themselves.
Citrus are not detectable, which is a plus: men stuff, in my humble opinion, the colognes full of them. There’s an edge to it: fruit one can hardly identify, and yet perceive. It is a moreish, fresh and yet warm fragrance; an olfactory contradiction in fact.
If I had to sum up its essence in one word it would be suave; in a happy, sunny, very exotic and romantic way.
So love it is. Beyond any doubt.

I know, Imwimsatt, what are they thinking?
Probably its main selling point is/was the beautiful bottle.
I know I wouldn’t have, originally, bought it had it not been for the that.
Maybe they’re looking to use a multicoloured bottle for a new perfume and they’re clearing the decks for it?

This was my signature when I was a senior in high school. Id buy a bottle for the memories, but I don’t want to taint those memories with new associations. Have you ever seen such a gorgeous bottle though?

  18. :

I’ve never been to the Eden project, but I sincerely hope it smells nothing like this. Seriously, this is like a crap air freshener, which unfortunately also has masses of sillage and longevity. I bought it as part of a box set with Pleasures and Pleasures Intense, and I find all of them really dreadful, harsh, synthetic and headache-inducing.

LT says that BP is a masterpiece of abstract exotic flower composition. It’s not my cup of tea, I always found it dizzying, almost nauseatingly. So I have recently procured an essence of Spikenard, opened the vial and from thence BP jumped out at me in all its “masterly composed” glory. Errm??

I’m very glad to have come to know beyond Paradise!
We had a Rocky start…Too much too soon, on my part!I was quite taken back…Never encountered anything even similar to this in all these years of meeting different frags.Strong!Wow,way too strong (so I thought, my first time!May never come near this stuff again, I was thinking…too busy though, to do much but wash hands & put sleeves over wrists.
Never the less, I continued about my day, went to sleep that night woke up to the most beautiful smell laying next to me…I look up and my cat was there.I sniffed but she smelled the same as always! Where was this gorgeous bouquet of unusual, slightly green, floral scent coming from?Got up to make coffee & as my arm moved to put the coffee on, I smelled a flower I never experienced coming from me…A feeling of expectations of Wild grown flowers I may run into if I took a trip to a tropical Island…(minus any coconut one expects from a tropical island, thank God!don’t care for coconut)
Thoughts Of a trip I took years back to Florida were coming to mind …The clear blue of the ocean , the colorful coral popping through the rippling tiny waves of smooth coastal pacific ocean just engulfed me…The warmth could be felt coming from BP, as if I was in those waters of the west coast of Florida…The soothing feel of 80 % heated water, relaxing, gently caressing my spirit as well as my aching muscles & bones)I had not been further ever in my life then the USA & when I did visit the west coast of Florida, along the gulf I wondered how beautiful it probably is way beyond what I actually was seeing, feeling and smelling in the moment!! …My IMAGINATION COULD ONLY TaKE me just so far, but I did imagine how lovely it would be in other more Exotic places I may never have the chance to go, to experience beyond the west coast of Florida…That was in 1970…Anyway,The day I was making coffee, i had to run out to the store for the half & half, while waiting, I was seeking who smelled so delicious as it was even better then I smelled at home earlier…Turns out it was not the lady I thought, but it was other unique flowers leaving a trail when I moved from one place to another…My body heat rushing around was still bringing out more of this tremendous composition made by estee lauder! Amazing! almost 24 hours had passed & more was still coming out of those sprays from the day before! This perfectly put together perfume took me beyond the places I have been…Smelling flowers I did not know existed. For me this is the wonderment of what lies beyond where I have already been…The place, which I have been & was like paradise to me is great! But Beyond paradise is what I long for and want to know…It fills my imagination with new life & experiences that may be a possibility, someday…Dreams keep one moving forward with optimism…Beyond paradise gives this to me.I cannot believe how well made this complex unusual composition turned out to be!it’s in the air following me, leaving me trying to find it’s trail! Just love it!Cannot get enough of this!Beyond anything I thought it would be!I also love the pretty colorful bottle!

You write so beautifully and sad of darkness and light, of fallen angels in a long forgotten garden.
It was just not enough to give you a balloon here 🙂

It’s hard not to like this attractive, supple scent. Sort of like the cooler, more worldly sister of Pleasures (who’s actually less talkative and likes your boyfriend, too.) Not sure I could pull it off in middle age, but it holds fond memories of the most recent turn of the century.

I love everything about Beyond Paradise: The pretty floral aroma, the exotic beachy vacationishness, the adorable bottle (I’m on my third one). It’s my go-to scent for spring and summer and I would even say it lifts my mood.

I obtained a second sample of this and liked it better. I think the top notes are gone but I smell creamy honeysuckle. I also smell a hint of hyacinth. I am not sure if this is the original or the reformulation but while I am not blown away by this I rate it a solid 4 of 5. Lasts 5 hours. Projection is average

Is Beyond Paradise beauty or beast?
    Many say beast.
    I say beauty, definitely beauty!
It’s brilliantly prismatic. A psychedelic floral experience is what I find here. Bold. Colorful. Vibrant. Rich. It’s thick and dense with foliage. This is no wallflower, it’s the wetlands of dreams.
Spraying it feels as if I’ve indulged in an intoxicating floral cocktail, one both shaken and stirred. It’s absolutely not a soliflore. I can detect every single note in this multi-hued creation, and that’s just in the first 60 seconds! Every flower blooms at once, not gently or slowly while you are not looking, but immediately and with quite a bit of urgency. The florals are lush and damp, not just misted, but drenched…infused.
Projection is not as I would have imagined, given the expansive feel it has on my skin.
    Longevity is exceptional.
Beyond Paradise is a much deserved floral vacation. Lose yourself on the trip. I do.

Just close your eyes and envision the clear blue ocean, soft sand between your toes, and the gentle breeze whispering on your face. As the sun is setting on the coastal horizon on a perfect Hawaiian get away, don’t forget the hibiscus flower in your hair. This scent is perfect for summer. Its basically Hawaii in a bottle! Love, Love, Love it! 🙂

I bought this when it first came out over 10 years ago, so I still have the original formula in the original, colored glass bottle. I keep it way in the back, out of the sunlight, to keep it preserved and it has held up remarkably well. The floral is super-powerful, a bomb of flowers, and indeed, there is a decaying floral in there, which I think adds to its charm. Imagine a jasmine flower , decayed, to bring something a bit too much to all that floral. This is not a light, happy, sunshine floral, but more like a dark house in New Orleans on a summer night, late at night, when the heat is still in the air and humid, with some sweet and heavy decay in the air. This is that kind of scent, so I’m surprised it was as popular as it was. I don’t see it as a mainstream scent — it is too lush, like a decaying mansion made up of flowers. It’s not particularly seductive or sexy — as a woman, I wear this more for myself than in any attempt to turn a man on. I think it’s too intimidatingly floral for most men. A great scent. It took bravery to put this one out there, knowing what a thick floral this is.

I finally tried the new plain bottle design while shopping for the Xmas holiday season last year and fell in love. It was all i could think about and was certain this would be first on my list to purchase for myself before spring season this year in the U.S.
Being a bottle collector, i searched for a full sized classic egg shaped bottle with the colors as displayed on this page. It was unfortunate that the formula had turned which explains the “decaying of flowers smell” and such, as other reviewers have mentioned. It was not at all the fresh tropical white floral that transported me to vacationing in paradise that i experienced at the Macy’s department store.
The safe bet is to go for the new transparent bottle or just purchase this one direct from the counter.

I remember standing at the perfume counter with my mom as a girl and oooh’ing and ahhh’ing this provoking perfume! The woman who helped us gave me a mini and I felt so special that it still holds a spot on my vanity.
It smells like heaven’s tropical garden condensed into a fragrance. Very heavy like the humid tropics that sport island flowers, very seductive, but still captures the brightness of flowers.
It is very strong but can be toned down. I can’t think of anything quite like it.
This smells like Escada perfumes all grown up.

My vintage collection from Estee Lauder. I bought my bottle 2010. Even it was 5 year past, it is still potent, warm, rich and amazing longevity. Beyond Paradise is absolutely far far better in it’s line.
Open up with fresh citrus vibe make it so fresh. After that, floral notes are coming out make it rich strong flowery. In dry down, amber and plum notes are really strong. Overall, fresh warm fruity floral.
(one thing i notice, one composition is missing. first release in this perfume is ylang-ylang from Indonesian, note-but didn’t mentioned here. WHY?) I try the new reformulation Beyond Paradise at the Estee Lauder counter, yes it’s still strong but the lack of richness.

My husband said i smell like GREEN TEA when i put on this perfume.i think the same way too but with the addition of two flowers of jasmine n hyacinth.to my nose jasmine really stands out.then followed by a little bit of hyacinth.it is very floral n airy kinda scent.yes i do get its tropical vibe on its initial spray but it doesnt lasts long.the flowery part blossoms or emerges quickly n stays longer.
I really disliked this perfume at the first place.because i didnt think that the smells suits or as promising as its name given, beyond paradise.but after a year i started to liking it back n gave myself a second chance.so i did it.i started wearing it whenever i am off to work.

Angeldaisy- yes I was one who bought this as a blind buy nearly 7years ago, immediately after reading Luca Turin’s The Guide….no one who smelled it particularly liked it on me, it’s main attribute was it’s sillage and longevity and that’s not necessarily a good thing with this perfume, lol…..

This fragrance is described as “exotic”, but on me, past the first, short-lived white-flowers whiff of jasmine and gardenia, it smells a bit like sea-spray with a hint of cucumber and oysters. It’s breezy, it’s slightly salty. And that’s what I love about this perfume : it’s like a walk along a coastal path in late May. The flowers are out, it’s been raining a little but now the sun’s out, and, oh, is that a rainbow ? The base notes are a little soapy, it’s true. But if you’re going to go for a bimble by the sea-shore, you might as well wear clean clothes, no ?

I got this as a gift a few years back and I was incredibly underwhelmed. I expected an exotic scent that was going to take me to white sand beaches and turqoise waters and all I got was a very expensive soap. The only positive about this perfume was its longevity, it prolonged the shower freshness for a few hours, so I suppose it was an OK solution for my hot Greek summers.
I’m definitely not buying another bottle.

my mother bought this for me when i was a teenager. She wanted me to smell very womanly and classy.
well, she was right about smelling very womanly. This perfume is VERY floral. I honestly really don’t like floral perfumes. They just don’t fit my personality well, and when a perfume is /JUST FLORAL/, or /JUST FRUITY/ or /JUST SPICY/, it’s /JUST BORING/.
This perfume was incredibly strong, and that’s not good in my opinion. I like when perfumes are intimate and personal. I like when you can smell them when you’re close to someone, not when you’re a mile away from them.
It’s a very feminine, floral, citrus and strong perfume. Not particular my cup of tea.

I really like this one. I’m sure I will be sending people to the hospital with allergies, but the honeysuckle and hyacinth in this one are truly beautiful. I’m not a big fan of flowery fragrances but this one is quite lovely in small doses.

I’m surprised to see so many dislikes on this! I love it. A perfect summer holiday perfume; floral, light, fresh. It smells tropical without being fruity, and soapy without being too synthetic or powdery. The gardenia comes out most on my skin, and the hibiscus is surprisingly easy to pick up as well! I grew up around hibiscus and I’m very happy to be able to smell that unusual note in this. I can see myself taking a bottle of Beyond Paradise with me on an island vacation. It’s very wearable, would mix well with sea and sand, and I wouldn’t be too heartbroken if the bottle broke in my suitcase. I’m very happy to have this in my collection.

I really don’t understand some reviewers. My parents have a honeysuckle plant climbing on one of their garden’s fences. In the summer evenings, after a hot day, is when the flowers become fragrant like a sweet breeze that invites you to enjoy the fresher hours of the day. This is why this is a totally lovely summer evening fragrance for me. The first time I came across it I was like… omg summer vacation in Madrid!

    that bottle
is like holding cinderella’s glass baby bottle, created by Rainbow Dash’s sonic rainboom*, as he flies beyond paradise at the speed of sound….
    it’s true.
i understand why they redesigned the bottles without the help of My Little Pony and Tommee Tippee. for health and safety reasons perhaps? i wouldn’t want my baby to mistake this juice for juice!
    *Rainboom = a rainbow-hued shock wave / sonic boom.
actually i am wondering, having tested this twice now, that the perfume is indeed the pot at the end of this very loud rainbow in plastic Ponyville.
and who else is able to admit they were sold by the 2 page sales pitch in The Guide to buy this blind? ahem.

This used to be my favorite scent in my young teens, but as I’ve matured I find it a little too sweet and a bit soapy.

  47. :

    4 out of 5

Beyond Paradise opening with Gardenia, hyacinth and honeysuckle, all these are strong fragrances that individually I don’t like in the actual flower. These scents are tempered with a crisp, cool wetness that freshens them up a bit and takes out the cloying aspect, Beyond Paradise remains strong but feminine with a bit of an edge it’s unusual and different on me, almost soapy.
The notes don’t veer off in any one direction stopping short of going too sweet, too wet, or too flowery, like a pendulum that never reaches the outer edges by swinging wide, but maintains a tight orbit in the middle, does that imply some type of stability?
Beyond Paradise is very fresh and sweet but remains cold never reaching the warm intimacy that will make it mine. It’s an interesting composition of many components I’ve never smelled or even heard of. It’s described as a prismatic floral, for me it’s like a work of art you’ll go look at, appreciate, but not bring home.

  48. :

First impression of this scent is always ozonic-metallic. Then Lily of the Valley, which is well done. Hyacinth – ok, not bad. Honeysuckle? No, not really. Most of this scent is about flowers rather than from flowers. It’s an idea, a conception, of flowers, but personally I’d prefer the real ones, without the ozonic saltiness. What I like about floral scents is the creaminess, the waxy smell of petals, which is part of the extracted oils and absolutes. When the creamy and waxy elements are absent because the florals are constructed, you get Matisse rather than Maxfield Parrish. So this is a Matisse, or perhaps a Gauguin, of a scent.
I enjoy real flowers and I like smelling of them (sorry Luca Turin) but still, Beyond Paradise is very good. It lasts well, it was utterly unique when it came out, and if it has suffered, it’s because everyone imitated it. I can’t smell it “fresh” because it spawned many similar scents. And, in the 10+ years since its release, I’ve smelled it everywhere – it is really popular.
I’m pleased to have bought two little bottles so I’m having a chance to wear and experience it properly. It has the signature Estee Lauder musky aldehydes and longevity, and it is quite a tropical floral mix, so perhaps more appropriate in summer; one can imagine the beach, the sarong and the flower behind the ear. Despite personally preferring different scents, I can see this is very accomplished, so 9/10 for artistry.

Oh! I am shocked! I have never known a fragrance like this! It smells like a Spice Bazaar in Old Cairo! Then changes with the warmth of my skin to an explosion of a bomb of flowers, Jasmine and Hyacinth – it is absolutely different to Red Door and White Diamonds. Utterly different than any other Estee Lauder scent. I LOVE it!

The first fragrance I truly disliked. I smelled it at Cardiff airport in the early 00s and I’ll never forget it’s dubious stink. It was an “odour” instead of an “aroma” and I got some distinct notes…
    Pee. Pee and beer.

  52. :

I love Luca Turin, but there’s something a little bit suburban about all of Estee Lauder’s perfumes, and this one is no exception. Including the name.

  53. :

I have a nearly full bottle of this because I found it to be pretty stinky. It’s just not my sort of perfume in any way. I bought it from someone else who obviously didn’t like it either. I just can’t pass up perfume if it’s really cheap. I can’t seem to get past the initial phase of this, I hate it so much. Maybe it actually gets a lot better in the dry down, but for me, it’s just way too floral and in your face.

I have loved this fragrance since my mom first began wearing it in my teen years. Once in a blue moon I was allowed to wear it. I think of happy days and exciting nights. It is very lush, and in my opinion dark. It’s not a bright sunny beach paradise, it is a night in Rio, hot, strong, and earthy. I wish I had words to better descirbe my affection for this fragrance but for me the whole thing, the name, the bottle the scent itself are perfect.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

When I first bought it, some years ago it was one of my favourites.. Smelled just like a tropical heaven, full exotic flowers, absolutely fantastic. Recently, I bought a big bottle waiting to smell that exotic scent BUT nothing reminded of it anymore.. something has changed.. completely disappointed 🙁
Edit: Now, in summer I tested my bottle again. Actually, it’s not that bad. If you don’t know how it was before, you find it a sweet and lovely floral. There is a metallic note though, and it wasn’t before.

A nondescript floral bomb – instantly forgettable.

This scent is just simply too boring. Sounds like awesome, but it isn’t. The scent stays ok but it’s just the same all the way, it doesn’t seem to change on my skin at all. So, blaaaahhh.

It is one of those perfumes that I bought it for the bottle more than the fragrance. Its scent is summery youth but not my favourite type of fragrance. Bottomline: who doesn’t want a rainbow in a bottle?!

I have a bit of a history with this fragrance. My mom got it for me when it originally came out and I wore it religiously throughout high school until college when I was no longer allowed to wear perfumes. It was a beautiful and exotic white floral, a even blend of jasmine, frangipani, orange blossom, and orchid, what I imagined Hawaii must smell like. Up until that point it was the best tropical scent I had come across and worked very well with my body chemistry. I got more compliments on this perfume than any other I have worn to date.
Fast forward to the end of college and I was eager to rekindle my love of this scent, and all perfume in general, but I found something about it had changed. All I get now is jasmine and tiare that dries down to a distinct smell of plastic. The lasting power and sillage also disappeared. Needless to say I was disappointed.
So either I am fondly remembering what I thought was a beautiful scent, my body chemistry changed, or Estee Lauder changed their formula sometime after I purchased my last cherished bottle in 2005.

Cute bottle but not very nice on me unfortunately.

It smells very similar to the Champaca flowers on the tree in my garden

Like not a love. This is a flower scent with a bracing side of lemon & grapefruit citrus – I would prefer a little less grapefruit (it’s bitter to my nose) & more lemon. I smell beautiful orange blossom right away & it lasts a couple hours melting in to the flowers of jasmine & hibiscus. The gardenia is lovely & not overbearing & does not go screechy on my skin. I think I smell rose & some other flowers? If you don’t like flowery scents, you will probably not like this. The plum wood is gentle & not sweet; it’s just a hint of woody plum which I like. This perfume gets more “tropical” smelling as it opens up – very interesting to my nose. I wear this in the summer when the humidity really rounds out the flower scents & I’m craving citrus. It lasts until the next day on my skin & the sillage is very good – not HUGE but plenty big so go easy on the application. Nicely done.

Hey, does anyone know if Beyond Paradise smells anything like Yves Rocher Jardin de Nymphes?
    Thank you.

On me, all that can be smelled is the flowers. For some reason, everything else in there simply vanishes on me. I’m very happy with that. I love the smell of jasmine, and orchid, and honeysuckle, and hyacinth. The gardenia is subtle. I could swear there’s a hint of lilac in there as well and the slightest whisper of a rose. It’s like wearing a beautiful bouquet.
Longevity and power depend on the weather. I find it’s more intense and lasts longer in humid heat. In dry cold, I have to re-apply it halfway through my day. I really like this. I get plenty of compliments right after application and from those who sit or stand next to me when I wear this.

    what is beyond paradise?
    would it be a utopia?
    a shangri-la? or both combined?
how would it feel to own a luxury
    that is beyond perfection?
    would it bring supreme euphoria?
    would it be eternal
    or entirely provisional?

    ‘beyond paradise’ begins
    with the profusion of
    bracing ‘airy’/dewy note.
    along with the luscious smell
of plum and berries. soon after,
the limelight is taken over by its
powerfully fragrant of fresh floral bouquet,
    of which, the jasmine-honeysuckle accord
    allures magnificently.
    personally,
    i love this fragrance. indeed.
…still, i wonder what are there
in ‘beyond’ paradise? would this fragrance
be a hit and loved by many should its name
is just a little unassuming than the extravagant,
    beyond paradise…

I confess, I’ve never been to the tropics. I have no idea what Jaboticaba berry smells like. Nor laelia orchid, nor pink honeysuckle, nor Japanese mahonia, nor Natal plum blossom, nor golden melaleuca, nor zebrano wood nor ambrette seed. You know what this smells like to me? Banana. And aquatic notes. And maybe some…gardenia?
On the whole I would say that it’s pleasant but uninteresting. In fact, it’s so uninteresting that I’m wondering why I bothered to get a sample of it in the first place. If you’re looking for something to wear on the plane to Hawaii that won’t be too challenging to your fellow passengers this is it.
