To me this is a total shoe polish idiom fragrance. I think the experienced fragrance-heads will know what I mean by that – kind of resiny, oily … even perhaps petrochemically. I love that idiom – and this is an outstanding example of it – robust, stonking … a veritable jagganath of a fragrance.
But I am perplexed by the notes-list. I wouldn’t have said there was rose or sandalwood in it. Or perhaps I can see how there could be – just so deeply embedded in the gassy amber as to loose their particular identities.
