Description

Dazzling Gold is an opulent, floral fragrance. The composition opens with dramatic passion flower and fig. It blooms into a composition of exotic orchid, lily and plumeria. The base notes are exclusively warm: highly esteemed tree sorts, sandalwood and vanilla. The nose behind this fragrance is Evelyn Lauder.

One of my faves. Simply divine! Love how the base notes linger on my skin and hair

Although the notes are quite different, there’s similarity to Versace’s Yellow Diamond. If you miss this scintillating & discontinued gem, definitely give the Versace a test spin.

A strong scent, very mature. Floral and a bit sweet. Performance is ok overall, can be wereable for any occasion.

One of those I *should* like, but couldn’t embrace. Feels like gold glitter poured into a bottle.

I love the design of the bottle. This is a beautiful floral fragrance. I got a lot out of it when I smelled it: red berries, cassis, passion fruit, litchi and raspberry. The jasmine, lily, orchid, rose and other florals give it a soapiness and femininity almost but not quite like White Linen. It smells like an easier to wear and more youthful White Linen. The woodsy notes are light and the whole thing is supported by vanilla. Very pretty perfume and very affordable. I am the only person among my friends wearing it. They ask me what I’m wearing because it smells so good. To keep them from smelling like me I don’t tell them what perfume it is. But you Fragranticans know.

Fragrance Review For Dazzling Gold Estee Lauder
Top Notes Fig Cassia Passion Flower Raspberry Apple Red Berry Rosewood
Middle Notes Exotic Floral Notes Orchid Lily Freesia Jasmine Lily of the Valley Rose
Base Notes Woods Sandalwood Amber Musk Vanilla Litchi
I have the luxury gift set with the matching body lotion and shower gel. Estee Lauder’s Gold is a rich heady sweet floral and fruity fragrance of spring time. I crave this kind of perfume when I leave behind the ouds and incense olibanum scents of winter time. Spring has sprung and this fragrance makes it obvious. It opens with an exotic garden of passion flower, cassia (grapes) and orchid. The orchid is what I smelled at first, which blends perfectly with the passion flower. The sweeter scents of red berries, raspberry and litchi provide this scent with unmistakable femininity and deliciousness. Once the fruit subsides it becomes a floral scent of white flowers: we’re talking jasmine, freesia, white rose and lily of the valley. Despite all these flowers it is the single white lily scent that permeates throughout the fragrance’s middle phase. If you love flowers this recreation of various flowers is a delight. The fragrance begins to dry down softly and it’s a light mixture of woods, golden amber and creamy vanilla. I wondered why they called it Dazzling Gold and I found out why at the dry down. This is a gorgeous hot golden amber perfume. The amber keeps everything together as do those wood notes otherwise the flowers and fruits would just smell like shampoo. Instead you’re treated to a very full bodied rich perfume. Nonetheless it’s not heavy nor a monster perfume. It’s subtle and delicate but detectable. The longevity is good too, on me all day though I would estimate it’s about 7 hours and by day I mean work day hours. A very good office/work scent. Feminine, classy, heavenly. Highly recommended.

I loved this aged 16 but never owned it. upon discovering it is no longer available (as a lot of my old favorites, GRR!) I found myself getting into websites like perfume parlour and the perfumepeople.net who do a copy. I think the copy they do (called dazzle in gold) is like the original but cant do a comparison as I don’t own it. its worth a try for people who miss dazzling gold

I loved this in the 1980s. Adored it. I would love to smell it again, and I wish EL still made it, but I also loved Scoundrel in the 1980s, and when I bought it again recently, I couldn’t understand what the appeal had been because the fragrance was so strong and heady. If you like green scents with crisp, bright overtones, and you ever run across a vintage bottle of this stuff, please try it and review it! I’d love to know whether my memories of this gem are accurate!

I just bought two shower gels on eBay, anyone looking for this and Dazzling Silver, it is better than nothing! There are mini bottles available for reasonable prices too.

I wish that Estee Lauder would bring this back and Dazzling Silver. They were my favorites. I got so many compliments. This smells fresh and crisp but not cloying. Perfect every day scent.

One thing I know for SURE about Dazzling Gold: A lot of my male associates would walk by my desk during the years I wore this… A few actually asked to smell my wrist! I learned that men and women definitely DO have different olfactory experiences and tastes! I do wish Estee Lauder would bring this one back, although I MYSELF didn’t think it was my best scent!

Why did they discontinue this one? It’s lovely. Warm, but fresh and radiant. Elegant.
I recently got hold of a bottle on ebay. I think with age the perfume has gone off slightly. Mostly just the top notes, the smell cleans up after about 10 mins, but I think it’s not quite what it used to be. I think it will be fine to wear lightly during the day.
While I want to use this rare bottle sparingly, I think I’ll have to use it up while I can. I don’t want to smell of urine 🙂

I have both Dazzling Silver and Gold. And I love both. DG dries down to a soft, warm , fresh scent that you can wear comfortably the whole day through. Living in a hot climate like I am, it is very important to find perfume that is not too strong and cloying but ever-lasting. These two perfumes are all those. And they, being the only EL perfumes that I can stand, are discontinued, lol.

I miss this one…. Just like one of the earlier reviewers said, Dazzling Gold was a subtle, well-blended, and long-lasting scent. I tried both Silver and Gold, and Gold felt so natural… I wish it was still available!

With a name like Dazzling Gold, you’d think the scent was heavy on the dazzle. Something in-your-face, perhaps. Or even just simple but loud. To the contrary – Dazzling Gold is one of the most understated Lauder scents I’ve encountered. The lily, orchid, fig, and a sheer rendition of rosewood come forward first. I sense a touch of ambergris and a light dollop of sandalwood to flesh out the base. The wood component is quite nice, very delicate and spare, yet present enough to give Dazzling Gold some lift. It also freshens the fragrance without resorting to the usual citrus and musk clichés. Things stay fairly floral, sweet, and green for the duration of this fragrance’s low-key lifespan. Nice, but if you want something with more oomph! go with Beyond Paradise.

Very sophisticated and you’ll notice that the sweetness isn’t from candy or vanilla, the subtle sweetness comes from tart fruit. The scent improves when it’s given the chance to dry into the skin. I personally like this but not as a “signature” scent, this was something to wear in the evening at a restaurant that you know has foods with strong spices that completely wash out your perfume. Gold stays on the whole night and the next day on your clothes because it’s almost like wearing cologne for men, it’s that concentrated. It’s a strong perfume, I wouldn’t spray it directly onto anything, it’s better to dab it on skin or walk into the mist.

Ah Dazzling Gold! 🙂 Where do I begin?! I’ve been wearing this perfume since I was 17 and I absolutely love it!!! It’s my go-to scent, almost like a second skin. It’s the perfume I’m never without… it always has to be on my vanity or in my travel bag when I go away, it’s like a security blanket. I know I can never go wrong with this one because it’s so versatile. It can either be casual or sophisticated, perfect for anytime of the day, any occasion, all year round. This scent has become a part of me… if the people who I’m closest to had to pick a fragrance that defines me, Dazzling Gold would be it! I also love that it was never very popular, probably because it was never advertized a lot… I’m pretty sure that plays a big role in popularity of a fragrance. This way I know I don’t smell like everyone else, who wants that?!
Of all the perfumes I own, this is the one I’ve received the most compliments on… I guess it just works for me. I will always own a bottle of this “liquid gold”, for as long as they continue to manufacture it (forever I hope)!!! Believe me, this fragrance is HEAVENLY! ♥

Over ten years ago, I was first introduced to Dazzling Silver and Dazzling Gold. At that time, I often bought perfumes without properly testing them on my skin. Back then, if it was well marketed, popular and smelled nice out of the bottle or when sprayed on a strip, I was sold. Out of the bottle, Dazzling Silver smelled like the better of the two. I opted for Silver and my best friend/roommate opted for Gold. Sadly, on my skin, Dazzling Silver was cold, sharp and unpleasant. Yet, nearly every day, my best friend would smell so gorgeous wearing her Dazzling Gold. I tested Gold on my skin and it was a most beautiful scent that warmed to my skin quite perfectly. Dazzling Gold is a wonderfully blended, long lasting, lush floral that stands firmly on it’s warm, rich base notes. Unlike Silver, Dazzling Gold does not go on sharp at all. It has been a while since I last used this, but I am certain that I would appreciate it even more today than I did years ago. Now, I am aware of what notes work well on my skin and which notes to avoid at all costs! It is rare that a “floral” fragrance wears well on me, but this is a fantastic exception. Dazzling Gold is reasonably priced with great sillage and from my recollection, two sprays lasted at least 10 hours. I would be delighted to have this fragrance in my wardrobe again.

It’s a loud, tropical floral-green on me. Is there such a thing as a tropical floral green? I love orchid notes in perfumes, but with my chemistry, I am only getting cassia, green apple, lily, and lily of the valley in this perfume.
    I think I missed out!

As in DAZZLING SILVER, orchids play a key role in DAZZLING GOLD, so if you don’t like orchids, you’ll definitely want to stay away. On the other hand, if you do like orchids, you might really enjoy DAZZLING GOLD, which offers a bouquet reminiscent of Dior J’ADORE–minus the violets.
DAZZLING GOLD reminds me a great deal of J’ADORE, which I cannot however bear to wear because of what is to me an intolerable violet note (at least that’s what I think the culprit is…). Since violet is absent in this composition, I am able to enjoy DAZZLING GOLD as an orchid-rich floral bouquet.
Obviously J’ADORE has had much more success, given the ubiquity of its advertising–going strong now for more than a decade! But DAZZLING GOLD appeared first, in 1998, and strikes me as a wearable, albeit über-floral creation.

Generaly, I can’t stand floral perfume, they make me sick straight away (Anais Anais by Cacharel really made me run into the bathroom)
I got that one from my mum as a purse spray and I must say it impressed me.
It certainly does not smell cheap or soapy, I can smell a bit of bitterness as well as sweetness.
My first association was with a well dressed, chic woman.
I think the name very much reflects the fragrance, I am not sure why is there so much negative feedback relating to that fragrance?
In my opinion it is one of the best floral perfumes I have ever came accross. Not sickly floral, only tickling your nose with wonderful, warm flowery notes of Lily, jasmine and rose. The silage is nice, it does not leave a heavy tail behind you though.
I certainly recommend it to ladies who wish to own a nice, fresh floral, elegant perfume.
So far I have not come accross anyone from my work or personal environment wearing it which feels great.
There is nothing worse than tens of women wearing the same, well known to you fragrance or worse, the same fragrance you’re wearing at the time 🙂

On me it smells like a lily’s flower dust with plumeria. Really floral. But I can’t say that I like this fragrance.

Opens shallow but unfolds neatly. It remains “green” though also expressive of a complex floral. It strikes me as an excellent business scent if one ventures carefully. It maintains its reserve.

  27. :

At the beginning is cool, a moderate flower, but it opens in a typical Estee elegant way, by me finely balanced and nice perfume for day clothes.Gives the freshness of the flowers, but with a warm touch. It seems to me that Dazzling was made for ladies of all ages, far from the original formula of Beyond Paradise.May be universal-anything strange in it and with good stability, might be one of the few Estee Lauder perfume that I gave to someone without the fear that I will make a mistake in choosing.
edit/a bit tired of loud Amarige, Dazzling Gold is made to satisfy a longing for floral scents and is classy, love it!

    I love it.

This just does not smell that good out of the bottle, but on, it is totally different. It dries down to a really warm, soft scent that I really like. The opposite is true of Dazzling silver. I love its scent right out of the bottle, but it smells horrid on me. Dazzling Gold is much better.

I didn’t like it. Deep gold rather than bright gold. A kind of obnoxious fragrance..
