Since regular AE EdT or Parfum version was unbearable for me, I find this gel form much more wearable, softer and more office friendly.

As several people noted before, the picture is wrong. The actual bottle was a sheer, stylized, clear glass splash version of the classic bottle. It was really beautiful. The picture they have put was the limited edition released for the 40 aniversary, shortly before the Perfumer’s Reserve Edition. Also, the notes are not correctly listed, I am pretty sure there is no coconut among the notes of the Velvet Sheer edition. According with the official publicity of the release, those were: chamomille, Bulgarian Rose, Lilly of the Valley, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Patchouly, Vetiver and Amber. It was said it did not contain alcohol, which was not entirely correct, because it actually contained alcohol, but the form of this perfume was neither an oil or a lotion, but some sort of watery gel. Very innovative, I think that Clinique did not well by releasing it only as a limited edition.
The smell itself, of course, is reminiscent of the classic Aromatics, but I find it to be, specially in the drydown, more bland, not so round and full bodied as the original and somewhat plastic smelling. However, if you are a fan of the original fragrance, this is worth of trying.

yes, the description here is wrong. it is the original Aromatics Elixir, but in a limited edition bottle as shown in the picture.

I think the picture is wrong. I have the same limited edition bottle, and the juice is the original Aromatic Elixir, not Sheer Velvet Philtre Sensuel.

My favorite scent in the world is Aromatics Elixir. I was delighted when I found a bottle of Aromatics Elixir Sheer Velvet Philtre Sensuel online and couldn’t wait to get it on my skin. Unfortunately it’s a disappointment. There’s nothing wrong with it and it’s well made with good ingredients but it’s nothing like its eccentric and angular parent. This is a sweet rather indistinct soft floral like a million others. I’m totally blanking on what it reminds me of because it reminds me of scents that I don’t buy. Ah well back to il miglior fabbro.
Persistence: 4-5 hours
Fabulosity: white bread
