I’m not sure what happened to the original, but it’s not the same anymore. Watered down and the awesomeness is gone. Why do perfumers do this?! The newer version is not even worth owning.

this was my main scent in 2010 . i blind bought this expecting that same quality and for my surprise it has been watered down like 90% it almost made me cry. you only get the citrus opening. but the powdery and tonka and that beatiful wood its completely gone. my goodness.

This must be my favourite fragrance. I don’t know why people say it doesn’t last long when I still got compliments hours after I applied it. It is best used in evening or night time as that’s when Armani Code stays strongest. Unfortunately, I do not wear anymore as I already had several bottles and looking for new fragrances but I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cologne that many people will like.

Genius scent, showing the house of Armani at its best with its understatement and elegance.
Love it. Works with my body chemistry incredibly well. The tonka bean blends very well with the guiac, and the bergamot and lemon combination is instantly recognizable. Always getting complimented on this.
Keep it for the night, though. Definitely not for daytime.

Great scent… everyone says winter.. i think it can be pulled off on a cooler summer night aswel… projection / sillage not great but is nice for an hour or so

citrus, tonka, anise, blossoms and hint of leather in the base; sweet fragrance and fresh without being a fougere

All notes listed here I love, but combined in code it creates an obnoxious mess that leaves me with a headache. It’s very shrill to me.
I smell this on a guy, it gets me to run the other direction.

  10. :

It’s good for the limited time that it leaves. With almost zero projection and low-moderate longevity, this is a nice skin scent. All I get is a faint combo of leather/star anise. Not for me.

I have a batch code from 2008, It smells amazing and longevity is 8hours+

What i get is leathery floral sweetness. Women can’t resist me. It’s a good thing! Totally pheromone.

This is a meh fragrance, smells soft, powdery, and sweet.I mostly smell the star anise and leather, also some citrus but it starts dying out after a few minutes.I haven’t tested the performance of this fragrance yet. I’m not really digging this fragrance but I’ll give this fragrance a 6.5/10

  14. :

The thing is, the wearer can drastically change how the scent is perceived by others. If a man wears this, it will likely be recognized as a familiar male scent. If a woman wears this, many would never even realize that it was a fragrance made for men, let alone realize it was Armani Code. I’ll admit the opening smells very male, but the dry down is completely unisex as tobacco, tonka, and leather are being increasingly used in feminine perfumes. For what it’s worth, I actually prefer it on myself than my boyfriend, but it has nothing to do with it not being male enough. On men it is 100% male smelling. It’s just a matter of preference. I think I like it more on me because it stands out, where on men it might blend into the void of traditional male fragrances.

    Dear TheFragSoaker
Yes it was known as Black code. Black Code is a solid perfume with strong longevity & sillage. My fav scent at that time. Then this Code was released to replace it. Code is a mellow brother of THE BLACK CODE, softer projection, longevity is around 2 hours on me and sillage is weak, sits very close to skin unlike Black Code which last up to 9 hours and sillage is so good. Still a nice scent but performance is average. Sad.

I got a travel pack, 2 times 30ml one of code profumo and this. I wanted the profumo, but this is very nice as well, different, not as loud, might be wearable in office but maybe as with profumo a little too distracting for office wear.

I remember buying this in the early 2000’s and I could’ve sworn it was called Black Code…anyone remember this? I bought it again in 2012 and wondered how I could have gone without all those years.
I really like the scent, I could really smell every note (well blended imo) but the projection was pretty weak, almost immediately to the skin.

Pure gentleman’s cologne; slightly citrusy and sweet with a bit of floral and coconut as well as tobacco; very “upper class” type scent and very masculine although sweet; scent transforms throughout the day and is complex; mild-to-moderate sillage and moderate longevity (5 hours).

Nice scent. Very sophisticated. Definitely an evening frag. Ladies love it a definite compliment getter. However longevity & sillage is just average.

I bought a bottle of this back in 2006 and I loved it. I mostly just used it for formal occasions as it smelled like a formal cologne in my opinion. From what I understand, it’s been reformulated and doesn’t have nearly the same performance it once had. I’d love to find a bottle of the original formula.

  24. :

VERY NICE .IF A GIRLS SMELLS THIS ON YOU GUYS THEY WILL LOOK TWICE..

  25. :

Nice smell..elegant, ladies love it but longevity & sillage is poor..but overall a nice evening scent..I get complimented when I wear this.

  26. :

this is a masculine scent that is sophisticated. 7 out of 10 for me

  27. :

    4 out of 5

An elegant, classy, formal fragrance. It opens with citrus then dries to a smooth leather. A suit & tie type of scent.
Performance is poor to moderate on my skin. I need 6+ sprays and even then its not noticeable after a while. I never wear it since I have others that get the job done better.
That being said I enjoy the scent quite a bit & I like smelling my bottle every now and then.
    Scent: 7/10
    Performance: 3.5/10

In a strong twist of irony, the most notable quality about Armani Code is its sheer boringness. Code actually stands out in my mind by being the most average fragrance I’ve ever smelled. Totally pleasant and inoffensive, but completely boring and forgettable. You might as well not wear cologne at all.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

What a forgettable cologne this is, its still very good though. I can remember and endorse versacel’homme more..its got heart. This is like clean, fresh, masculine, its leather deep, masculine sexy, alive in the now and stylish. It’s got leather, tobacco and wood, perfect male notes for all men. It’s sexy as black underwear and sportscars in men..

  30. :

    4 out of 5

Cool, smooth spice. A very well done, completely inoffensive fragrance. Very nice but, I must say, it totally suits the pleasant, inoffensive attorney co-worker I first smelled it on. It’s rich and well made but doesn’t stand out in any way. Perfect for bland, beige, corporate offices.

  31. :

Citrusy Opening and a freshie. Nothing ground breaking but its elegant and well put together. Performance kinda sucks ( I tried the EDT).

I don’t get leather or tobacco as much as I get citrus and anise. The anise adds a dollop of licorice, but doesn’t at all dominate the scent. I think it mostly smells like bergamot, and the muskier notes contribute a suede-like texture rather than a heavy leather smell. The tobacco is present in the base and reminds me of Coqui Coqui’s fresh smelling Tabaco. Then again, this came out first. I’m impressed by how well-blended this is. Armani Code smells sporty and fresh, but elegant enough to be worn in most situations.

  34. :

Love the Armani Code but they have reformulated. Got a new bottle at Macy’s and to my surprise the performance is week. Longevity and Sillage has changed dramatically. I’m planning to give away to a family member

AC is one of the first fragrances I purchased and it saddens me deeply to know that it has been watered down and stripped of its original essence and quality. I still have an empty bottle of the first one I bought and the scent on the cap is still stronger than the one I bought recently. A sad day indeed.

If you really have the Money to buy Armani Code you may do it…
I’ve tested it several times and to me it’s not worthy of my Money not with this Performance..
I own a Dupe called Arma Code which is quite Close so I use Arma Code instead…
    Overall a good scent
It fits cooler weather and the nighttime…
The projection is really moderate, don’t expect People to smell you from a distance of 5 to 10 meters..
    This scent fits to
    Bars
    Cocktails
    Weddings

Hell yeah.. got a new full sealed 75ml edt vintage armani code (maybe the first batch from year 2005, batchcode UB258) from an old perfume shop in my town.. i’m so lucky..

  39. :

    5 out of 5

Well, that’s really nice. At the very first spray I smelled citruses very clearly, but when it dried down a bit… Oh wow, leather, tobacco and tonka bean would step up. Seductive and charming, slightly warm masculine scent with crispy lemon zest and a bit of sweetness.
I can imagine it on both – young and a mature guy too. There’s simply something for both of the generations in it.
Actually nice additions for this scent – Garnier’s Men – Mineral deospray with green cap: smells like a really cool dupe. Tesori d’Oriente Vaniglia e Zenzero: it’s like Code mixed with creamy vanilla.
    To me 7,5/10.

It’s one of those scents that’s undeniably a man’s fragrance. It’s fresh, powdery, clean, masculine, classy, sporty yet suitable for both casual and formal occasions, dates, office, and romantic evenings with the lady. Best in winter, the colder air allows Armani Code to radiate all it’s glory… the leather, tobacco, and bergamot is most detectable in colder temperatures. Absolute legend and for good reason. Never met a woman that didn’t love this fragrance on their guy.

Maybe it’s a reformulation I have but this stuff really smells like a stale stick of bubble gum from an old pack of baseball cards.

  42. :

i hate whining about reformulations because sh*t happens. but i have an 8-year-old bottle of this that i just replaced, and the leather, olive leaf, and tobacco have been dropped right out of the bottom–it feels like the top half of the fragrance only. very depressing. i used to enjoy this a great deal.

Got a 20ml bottle last year and currently writing this review after I used the last “puffs” out of it.
In my humble opinion, Armani code is a strong masculine scent. For those who like wearing bomber jackets and black jeans. On opening, the scent brings a strong dark leather memory in my head. And memories of dark rainy nights of an early spring in Northern Europe. After a couple of minutes of strong leather, the smells switches to a combination of aroma and floral aspects but keeping that overall aspect of leather.
I do not feel it as being fresh at all or sweet. It’s a bit more serious perfume that aims to a more mature type of people. Personally, I have used Armani code only when I was attending business meetings, conferences or I was wearing a suit. I do not find the scent so playful or mysterious, it is for those who are serious and they want to be taken seriously. A pretty static smell that does not really brings me any wild ideas in my head while wearing it. So I would say this would be a good option for a person that is 25+ and works in a 9 to 17 office job.
At the beginning, I was getting a longevity of up to 3 hours and a slightly moderate sillage. On beard and clothes stays much more than 3 hours. Now with the last puffs out of it, I get a very soft sillage and feeling that after on hour is barely noticeable on my skin.

The first time I smelled Armani Code was on one of those magazine sample cards. I picked up lots of citrus and a bit of leather and spice in the background. Nice, I thought. So I sampled some at the local Sephora, and still liked it, even though it really departed from that sample. Having witnessed my positive reaction, the DW took notice and decided to spring for a bottle of Armani Code for Christmas. Lucky me!
And then I sprayed it from the bottle, and… yeah… still like, but something smells very, very familiar, like something I already had…
And so I hunted around… and FOUND IT. Perry Ellis 360 Black. I kid you not – the two are not quite identical (Code does boast more depth and is just better overall, whereas PE lasts longer), but the two are astonishingly similar – as in 360 Black could be a flanker of Armani Code (or vice-versa).
To me this speaks to two issues. 1) Armani Code is nice but if Perry Ellis has gotten to it, it ain’t anything close to unique. And 2) Freaking Perry Ellis – yet again, producing a LEGITIMATE $20 replacement to an $80 product. I don’t know how they do it.
All in all, good (not great) stuff, but if not for its superior blending, I’d be returning it for being so similar to the aforementioned cheapie. But either way, I can see this one having its moments.

  45. :

    4 out of 5

I think of Armani Code as a “work hard, play hard” kind of scent. It’s the guy who manages to carve out a pretty good life for himself- great career, cars, property, financial security- yet still doesn’t take himself too seriously. It’s what Leonardo diCaprio might wear when he’s out sailing in his private yacht along the French Riviera with a gaggle of bikini clad models in tow (although his favorite fragrance is supposedly Annick Goutal’s “Eau d`Hadrien”- a very citrusy unisex-ish affair).
I find this a lot more lovable than Armani’s wildly popular Acqua di Gio. It’s a little more sensual (without waxing scandalous), a little more cuddly and mischievous. Men (and some women) of all ages can wear this. And the quality is top notch. Lasts forever on the skin!

I found an old bottle of this in the bathroom. I think my dad got it about 10 years ago, so circa 2006-2007.
To me it doesn’t read very masculine at all, and I wear it even though I’m a woman. It’s very sad to hear that the new formulation isn’t as good, as this one is so lovely and unique. It has a softness that I have not encountered in any other fragrance, and has nothing “high-pitched” about it, which I feel many other women’s fragrances have.
To some it may be plain and generic, but the one of a kind smoothness and softness of it makes it feel so luxurious in a low-key and muted way. Sometimes it reads a little like the eccentric molecules 2 fragrance, but less offensive. It is harmonious and the notes blend together in a uniform scent. When I smell it I think of a round shape, smooth and rounded off – in a way cream-colored leather seats come to mind.
If you want to smell good in a subtle, pleasant and luxurious way, this is really a go to, both for men and women. But if you want to smell manlier, you could pair it with a more generic “man scent”.

  47. :

Manly, barber shop like, but sweeter. Like Thierry Mugler, softer and sweeter than Drakkar or Sauvage, and better, has some ort of baby powder dry down odor which I’m not crazy about, but worth an occasional wear.

This juice sucks to my nose very weak has like a light sawdust smell to me. Did not project, and last for like 2hrs and very faint I would not recommend, and def do not blind buy if your thinking of getting.
powdery doctor pepper but not in a good way synthetic not sweet.

  49. :

    3 out of 5

A nice, pleasing, versatile fragrance with noticeable leather note. The leather and anise blend quite nicely together to give a smoother, deep leather scent, as opposed to a shoe or belt leather, while the citrus stays far more into the background. My nose isn’t the greatest but I only pick up subtle hints of lemon & lime in the concoction.
Additionally, to me, the scent seems quite similar to Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel.

Dislike. Sorry, not a fan! OMG sampled this live several times and I get instant headache. Smells like a car deodorizer. Also smells exactly like that cheap BOD Black body spray

When I smelled this fragrance I thought I encountered something similar, but it was the not smell of a fragrance, but my shaving cream by Gilette. It’s that but for so many hours. For some men I see this working out well, but for me it was a no-no as it was not compatible with my skin.

Almost finished my first bottle that I bought years ago. I’ve experienced so many fragrances but nothing has ever done it for me like Armani Code. This is very inoffensive and versatile. Excellent for someone who is easily put off by fragrances.
I’m currently using a bottle from 2012. Does anyone know what year the reformulation(s) occurred? Thanks.

  53. :

    3 out of 5

This is one of the two or three fragrances I have bought more than once. It has been reformulated and the result is an appealing office sent. I feel the flower and citrus notes contribute to the moderately strong soapy aspect. I like the updated packaging with the textured “belt” and magnetic closure.

  54. :

    Dear all,
I used to wear this one back in 2011 and considering that during these days of early Novemeber after 6 years I was a little bit melancholic I wanted to wear it again so I bought a new bottle.
Unfortunately I have to acknowledge that the juice has been reformulated and is now softer and less seductive.
I wouldn’t probably bought this version back in 2011.
Armani’s peole: please bring back the original juice and stop reformulation.
Original juice: 8/10. Mysterious, dark, masculine and sexy.
Ps: even the packaging is now less appealing

This is a nice scent that has a long lasting strength to it. I have noticed the more expensive colognes today are not nearly as masculine as the classic older colognes i have worn. This Armani code brand seems to be the most popular selling cologne. It smells fresh and sweet and a little bit powdery and would be perfect for the evening or romantic nights out with your girlfriend.

What a nice fragrance>>>10mins latter<<< ..WHAT where did it go? ….awh man I really wanted to smell that longer!! ….yea it’s gone..
So yea I really like the scent unfortunately it doesn’t last at all not on clothes or skin. If it’s ment to be EXTREMELY faint and hardly there, then ok it passes! That’s unfortunate!!

Armani Code 2008 (4 SPRAYS from my old bottle)
Smell: 10/10 (Tonka Bean with tobacco give sexy vibe)
Dry down: 10/10 (Every passing hour becomes and more sexy)
    Longevity: 8/10 (6-8 HOURS)
Projection: 8/10 (Moderate type , 3 hours and something more )
Compliments: 10/10 (Just a perfect TEN)
    Armani Code 2017 (4 SPRAYS)
Smell: 8/10 (They change the scent , is more cream and more sweet)
Dry down: 8/10 (Every passing hour becomes very creamy)
Longevity: 5/10 (3-4 hours skin scent , after that almost nothing)
Projection: 5/10 (I think is to soft , maybe 1 hour and something)
Compliments: 5/10 (They can’t detect easy)
Armani code general is a LADY KILLER believe me ,the ladies get obsession and they want to smell it all the time , BUT you must found a old bottle to understand the real Armani Code…..After 10 years they have change some things now its creamy and more fresh , its very soft for close area only (cinema, dinner , in doors – house dinner) don’t wait a loud scent is more a mystery smell but if you get a perfume atomiser you are ok for many hours ….Its a very sexy scent for a very modern men…You can used it for winter , autumn and for the cool nights in spring and summer

A classic, deep, slightly synthetic tonka/spice/tobacco scent. This is usually dismissed for the newer flankers but this one is excellent in its own right. A spicy, seductive scent that is good for cold weather at night. A crowded genre for scents but this is one that I rarely smell anymore, so you might actually stand out.
Longevity is above average on my skin (7-9 hours) with strong projection for 2-3 hours.
A 7.75 for me. I’ve received many compliments while wearing this and it’s one I turn to in the fall and winter.

oh man i went looking for a new cologne when i started dating my wife. I like manly tobacco leather colognes. this was it.When you put this on it changes your state of mind, you transcend into the ultimate alpha male. You feel confident and strong. What a great scent.I wore this with a suit and i swear i never knew women could act like men when they want you. They just qant to beat every other woman to the punch and get your name number and if your rockin the manitude you’ll be rewarded with much more.

The smell : oh my god!. Very versatile, fresh yet extremely classy. This fragrance “screams” luxury.
Performance though isn’t that great on me. I get 4-5 hours of longevity. Projection is really good for the first hour then it starts becoming a skin scent.
I really cannot believe how good it smells when i smell it on others. The sillage is very compatible with the scent being classy, not offensive but you won’t be able to resist getting closer to the person wearing this.
Girls ADORE this scent. Believe me !
Uniqueness and smell : 100/10 breathtaking.
    Longevity : 6/10
    Projection : 6/10
    Sillage : 8/10
Overall : 9/10 ( just because of the performance issues)
I recommend it highly especially if you can spray it more than once a day.

This is one of the most popular scents for a male, I class it as my signature scent. It’s so smart and handsome and reminds me of something the old Hollywood actors would wear. It’s smoky and mysterious, it conjures nice thoughts and gets many compliments. You only need a little bit because the sillage and strength is very strong. My all time favourite scent, I’d bathe in it if I could. Only con is that it’s very popular so a lot of men wear it.

  62. :

Despite how popular it is. This is literally one of the best scents I have in my collection. Best date scent point blank period. The top note is breathtaking and as soon as I hug my girlfriend it’s over. Well done Armani. Not a big fan of the flankers though.
    Longevity :7/10
    Scent:10/10 my god.
    Sillage:8/10

Armani Code – got a new small bottle recently. It smells pretty decent really as a powdery sweet, touch of leather and spice frag. Not bad as an everyday scent and the notes for me really do blend well together as not 1 stands out above the rest.
Safe bet and I think quite original now as not too many other frag houses on the same theme at the mo. Only negative would be feels a little weak on smell, identity and longevity.
That’s the today version review out the way. Like a few others though I have to pick up on the fact that this scent is absolutely 0% nothing like the original that I purchased what was it 12 – 13 years ago? So the new bottle is getting gone!
Not completely sure of the point of harking back to the original formulations as surely it’s today that counts and for some guy buying this and he likes or dislikes it they don’t really care what it used to smell like do they?
But it is interesting to make the comparison as that first bottle I purchased was strong, sweet Tonka, heavy leather and the longevity and sillage were monsterous to the point I wanted it to fade away and stop, it was almost too much for me.
In comparison this stuff today is a joke to be marketed as the same product so what’s going on?
Are frag houses just getting us hooked on the good stuff then cutting costs to increase profits by cheapening the formulation or is it something to do with the new rules and guidelines over Frag ingredients? (In which case what the hell bad was in those older frags?)
Who knows but back to Armani Code it’s an ok fragrance now and if you do want some of the old powerhouse experience I have found the Colonia flanker to be able to rekindle the same type of experience – strong notes and much better longevity so IMO Colonia is the best Code frag at the moment.

Code was Giorgio Armani’s first oriental cologne. It’s a combination of bergamot, lemon with soft notes of olive tree blossom. Warmed with guaiac wood, tonka bean and a layer of leather. A sophisticated, seductive well appealing fragrance for a charismatic man.
This scent is Armani’s best that I’ve come across and the best in the line of Code colognes. With so many wonderful fragrances to choose from this one ranks amongst the top. Best when worn during the warm to cooler times of the year. Longevity 8/10 – Projection 6/10 – Overall smell 10/10

Makes me sick. I can usually detect it from very far away.
Sharp, aluminium, licorice whip and chemical sewage.
Stays high pitched and intrusive without evolving into anything else.
Seems cheap and generic, drug store cologne-ish.

Not much to say about this cologne. It literally smells like powder & smoky air.
And I definitely bought the real thing.

What can I say about this absolutely fantastic, classy, sophisticated scent. I just love it. The only thing I can say to describe it is powdery and sophisticated. It makes me feel like I smell like the richest man in the world. Code has a lightly sweet, powdery sophistication but also this sharpness that makes me want to keep smelling it. It’s a lightly sweet powdery scent with hints of suede and tobacco. To me this is what a very rich young entrepreneur should smell like. Reminds me of Jared Kushner or some trust fund country club gentleman. Or maybe like Prince William or some other royal. I love to wear this with a nice black suit and tie.

I don’t like it. I expected elegance in a bottle, but this is far from my expectations. I can’t find any occasion, where I would wear this. OK for boys, not for a man.

One of my favourite men`s fragrances. I love the Bergamot note. It`s fresh, clean, citrus-y and sensual.

This is a waste of money. I bought a 200 ml bottle of this from Macy’s Montebello for 105 USD which was a good buy. But this doesn’t have the essential retaining power. The new release of Armani code Profumo is great and a masterpiece. one should buy that instead of this.
    Scent -7/10
    Sillage – 7.5/10
    Longevity -6/10
    Overall- 6.5/10

It’s one to wear if you want to smell citrusy/leathery/like a lot of other people.
Very commercial and a safe choice.
As is increasingly the case with a lot of reformulated classics, expect poor sillage and only moderate longevity.

It smells like powdery Dr. Pepper & that isn’t a bad thing. It’s definitely elegant & very sexy to the senses. Perfect for dating night, you’ll have a high chance of getting breakfast in the morning

This fragrance is really masculine, sophisticated, sexy, and in some times, elegant. Nonetheless It has a medium-soft performance and if you over spray you will have a headache.
This is really a good signature scent by the fact that it has a proper and unique scent comparing it with the mass-used fragrances or commercially common.
    Scent Rating:
    – Scent: 8.8/10
    – Longetivity: 7/10
    – Sillage: 7/10

It’s funny to read how “generic” is this fragrance…how do you expect to smell like, when this is the most copied perfume of all time! In my country even we have a copy, which cost 5 € and its smell pretty the same:-)

Very poor sillage and longevity, generic smell. Why this get good ratings is puzzling…maybe it just doesn’t work for my skin.

Was my signature scent for awhile. Nice tonka bean. Powdery. Compliment getter. The leather in the base is crappy tho

With every reformulation of Code comes a subtler, shorter lasting, weaker, and cheaper scent. I’ve been wearing it since it’s release, one or two bottles per year, and after having purchased the latest collared bottle, I’m sad to say I won’t wear or purchase it again. That understated “certain something”* is no longer there, and it has more of an alcohol scent in the top than ever before. Disappointing. It is now actually worth buying its knockoffs to get something richer and longer lasting.
*That “certain something” in my mind’s eye was always the olive blossom + tonka bean combo–across the 4 or 5 reformulations of Code on the market, its been progressively toned down and now smells quite “synthetic.” It almost smells as if that jarring, sharp, agressive “dry wood” note they added to Profumo (and oh, so many fragrances lately) has been added in a (thankfully) small but still annoying dose here. I’m sure I’m not the only one who longs for the old Code, or who perceives marked and disappointing changes in the quality of the scent.

So what I love this fragrance! Yes I know it is a very commercial scent, and yes it is a little common, but I really do enjoy this scent. Dodgy performance issues, but a very good effort nevertheless.

ARMANI CODE… A LANGUAGE BY ITSELF
What set this lovely fragrance apart and distinguish it from the others is definitely its twisty smell that you feel every time passes by your nose. A spicy in a way yet has the balance between the overflow of bergamot and ruggedness of leather and wood. Simply it is in a class of its own …..

( Keep in mind I’m reviewing a batch from 2008)
After all this time this is a scent that’s always been a favorite of mine and 1 of the scents that really blew me away in the beginning of my fragrance journey !
This scent is a very inviting, slightly sweet, slightly powdery, slightly fresh scent that to me has a kind of dark and mysterious feel but at the same time isn’t too extreme. It’s perfect for someone that is tired of freshies and wants to be different but at the same time you don’t want to be too daring.<br /
