Description

Comptoir Sud Pacifique presents their new collection inspired by Aoud as the central ingredient and theme of the line of Voyages to the Orient.

Four fragrances of the collection arrive in flacons of 100 ml (3.4 oz) EDP and they are presented to the market in April 2009. Each of the fragrances has a small palm-shaped pendant on the neck of the bottle, which represents the brand of CSP and is featured on exotic logo of the company.

Aouda is a fragrance which represents traditional woody accord of Aoud, which functions temperamentally with earthy patchouli and Moroccan cedar. The fragrance opens with rose, geranium and chamomile; a heart encompasses amyris, Copahue balm, cedar and Niaouli accords. A base includes tolu balm and patchouli.

Aouda is a mysteriously delicious fragrance… I went to the Post Office today and surprisingly the Lady smelled me from across the Window and said WOW you smell awesome and then I went shopping and 2 more people stopped to ask what are you wearing?. Aouda’ that was It! I’m on fire! This was a blind buy worth getting and I must admit I was surprised on my first time wearing it..It smells nice but as it warms Wow” you’d be happy…I was. Smells like sweet Incense, resins, Tolu balsam and The Geranium and Rose on point its like being covered by Brown Sugar n Honey melting on your Body.
its Warm and exotic ‘Sex in a bottle!

Perhaps it was a mistake to wear this in the spring, because I think the longevity may have suffered, but Aouda is still an intriguing scent. I DO detect the slightest hint of oud, more like an accent than a dominant note. I also smell the bitter chocolate which others have detected, combined with the geranium.
This is not an awfully sweet scent, even with the blend of notes which somehow becomes cacao. It is very fresh in a pleasantly woodsy way.
I do want to buy a bottle and try it in chillier weather, or perhaps if I overspray I can achieve a longer-lasting effect. Aouda is a sexy scent in a non-threatening way.

I’m scratching my head. Why name a perfume Aouda when it contains no Aoud???
So I’m thinking this ‘interpretation’ is really the Diet Coke of Oud. If you are put off by the oily, tarry accord of hard core oud, then this may appeal. And just like Diet Coke, this can be taken every day -no problem.
The patchouli/resin accord gave me a surprisingly uplifting feeling. No dark here. Just a likeable woody perfume that can be used year round, summer included.

A woody, spicy, resinous scent with no perceptible oud note. Initially there are some floral notes that seem more “masculine” than “feminine”, and then there’s the note that I can only describe as “golden” that’s produced by the combination of geranium and patchouli. That note is loud, it’s bright, and it’s the olfactory equivalent of a jazz trumpet. Aouda has this note at first, and it may be off-putting to some, but I like it.
As it dries down it mellows, becoming more woody. After about 3 hours it’s just a slightly sweet shadow of the opening notes. I was not particularly impressed by Aouda, especially trying the other perfumes in this series, several of which are quite good.
