Description

Amouage Homage is a limited edition introduced in honor to 25th anniversary of Amouage, in 2008. A rose feeling opens the composition up, thanks to the fines quality Taif rose petals mixed with silver incense, available only in south Oman, in mountain region, blended with jasmine, silver Oud and Al – Andalus, ending with orange, lemon and sandalwood. The fragrance is available in a 12 ml bottle. It belongs to the Attars group – which can be translated as – contributing to a rose feeling.

Homage it’s very opulent and a hundred percent ”arabic” on nature. Mainly, I perceive the amber, jasmine, rose and sandalwood. It’s rather linear but very rich indeed. Homage it’s an ”attar”. An attar it’s a fragrance based on essential oil. Hence, it has a very ”oily” consistence and can stain clothes.
On summary, a very expensive fragrance but quite unique and with outstanding performance. IMO it’s rather feminine that unisex since I perceive a remarkable floral aspect. Only, suitable for special occasions.

I have to say the batch variation is beyond what I had imagined. I just received a sample of this legendary fragrance from TPC (quite nice) purchased for the purposes of a side-by-side comparison with my Homage 30 ML bottle. The two could be entirely different fragrances. My full bottle is a very soapy rose with no detectable Frankincense, or oud. Lemon is present, but the entire combination seems to be missing something. I have been pairing it with my Tribute, which, unfortunately for me, turned out to be another “bad batch’ – mostly smoke, and little else, no rose at all. Surprisingly, the combo has been quite nice, and I realized today that in certain proportions it approximates the Homage sample I received. The TPC sample opens with a very beautiful incense (completely lacking in my bottle), mixed with rose. It develops somewhat and silage remains good. Only after the opening, and particularly in the dry down, I notice similarities between my sample and full bottle. That said, the sample of Homage I tested is absolutely wonderful. That soapy note which dominates (and ruins) my FB is barely detectable, and everything settles in a nice smooth way. I am on the verge of purchasing another FB, because chances are it may be a great batch, but worried I may end up with soap again.

This is more of a ‘shared story’ than a descriptive review, but I will say I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. And come to find out, I’m willing to spend a lot of money to be sure I have it on hand. I just spent $$$$ on ebay to insure I have this magical perfume oil in my possession, because it is no longer available in stores (at the usual high price).
The only reason I know this fragrance exists is it’s high rating in Perfumes: The Guide. I obtained a sample from TPC about 4 years ago and felt this really did live up to that high rating (for me, not all of them do). About that time, I made a pilgrimage to MiN in NYC and decided to splurge on this Attar. I live in the middle of the country, so this was my big chance to just get it. No regrets.
Homage has deep richness, while also conveying a glowing lightness. It seems to start strong, but quickly ends up close to the skin, with occasional wafts of delight. It is hard for me to do it justice, but this smokey rose scent hits me personally in all the right places. I’m sure for some it does not live up to the hype, but apparently I can’t live without it.
The attars change a bit from batch to batch…hope the bottle I receive is as good, or imagine, better than my current bottle..
(Sorry – this is a duplicate of the review below, but my first submission came in as ‘guest’)

Now this was the last fragrance on my list must try.
Amouage Homage is a very strong perfume oil.
Its smell is leaning more on the feminine side. I would say about 75% feminine. Rose and incense create an aura that reminds me of saffron. A slightly bitter, floral musky scent.
Overall very specific fragrance, not for everyone.

What is Homage attar? It’s a free fall into an ocean of taif roses…. roses so lush so ripe. sooo mouth watering coupled with the finest omani frankincense and just a faint touch of oud which gives off a floor polish vibe in a good way.
The neroli and citrus notes at the top gives it a soapy feel but the roses quickly dominate this arabesque treat. To summarize this masterpiece: Beautiful, Divine, Emotional

OMG! I will treasure mine as long as it takes to keep it alive. Crisp, loud, oppulent and truly magestic. If Homage does not make you feel like a king/queen, then nothing ever will. Liquid gold in form of perfume.

I’m on the cloud 9!!!Just bought the last 30 ml(!!!) bottles of Homage and Tribute!!! They definitely were waiting for me sitting quietly in the shelf corner at the nearest shop to my Moscow home!Couldn’t decide which one to prefer,so grabbed both! Wearing the cheshire cat grin for the last few days!!!

Homage is a study in purity and clarity—the essence of the the meaning of the word perfume: ‘through smoke.’ Through this lens of delicate Omani incense we can clearly observe all the supporting facets of this perfume: crisp citrus, taif rose, soft jasmine, sandalwood and clean oud.
    A sunbeam made of scent.
    Sublime.

I lived a bit dangerously and bought this (along with Tribute) blind and man, am I relieved and thrilled. Such depth and purity. This does have a very similar taif rose to Lyric Man but this is entirely different and much more wearable for me. Deep is the dominant adjective for this. Rose-neroli-incense heaven…

I have often wondered who could have created
this? Who ever he is – he is a great artist
whose patron is the house of Amouage.
And did he create it all alone or was that team
work? And besides Homage what else did he
make? And if he is involved today in the making
of new scents by Amouage? Answers are to be
found in the archived files of Amouage, Oman.
Probably I will never get the answers but that
doesn’t prevent me from enjoying Homage.
I read somewhere – ” How can you watch sunset
and be sad at the same time? I can just say that
for Homage too. How can you be sad when you
have applied Homage on your wrist?
The moment I open the tiny bottle I am surrounded
by wafts of an incredibely well made scent.
This is Lemony Rose of highest quality. And all
fragrance lovers should try this at least once.
A drop each from the dipstick on my left & right
wrist takes me to olfactory nirvana. I keep getting
wafts of citrusy rose and later on it changes to
rose with woodsy, jasmine and incense scent.
This one was available at Amouage shop at
Dubai Mall in Jan’14 but when I went back there
during April’14 all the attars were gone for good.
I would recommend buying this ( particularly the
white box) from trusted sellers as this could be
    a gem in any collection.
If you have it- Enjoy. I admire your taste.
If you don’t have it- Good luck finding it.

Rarely do I go from hearing about a fragrance -> sample -> full bottle purchase so quickly. And rarely do I review a scent so quickly as well. But this is just no ordinary fragrance.
I got it in the white box formulation in the 12ml size. It just smells heavenly.
The opening is a gorgeous rose note like no other. Nothing smoky or anything else. Just a slick, pure rose that makes you say “aaaahhhhhh” when you breath it in. After the top burns off, it mellows to a slight jasmine note, before drying down to a sandalwood and incense base.
If they did this in 100ml I’d own a gallon of it, but alas 12ml will last me a bit. Just not sure how long. It’s an addictive scent for me that makes me want more and more. But don’t be fooled, less is more with this one! It’s not an EdP or any ordinary perfume. Use it very sparingly and it will last. Don’t over apply and it will really shine through!
A classic from none other than probably my favourite house. Definitely a 10/10 for me, but I should probably give some criticism to Amouage for making this only a limited edition.

When I recieved my sample in the mail, I could smell it outside the packaging. Something about this combination is simply divine. It is light. It’s not heavy, smokey incense laden, syrupy, dirty, or screechy oud. It’s the concept of golden light made perfume. That golden light that filters through just the right windows & shades, at only the moments caught unaware. It seems shameful to pick it apart, but it has very beautiful orange & lemon at first, and the accompanying jasmine is crystal clear and soprano. Similar to that in Alien, but without the sweetness. Next we have perfect rose. She could stand alone, but not here, sweetened just a bit, smartened up by the citrus which thankfully does not overpower, & backlit by amber resins, smooth incense & woods. It’s too well blended to pick anything else out. Gorgeous florals, honeyed light center & warmth. Suitable for a grand affair, and somehow light enough for summer wear. Incandescent oudh! Old art, the stuff of dreams. Divine. Ill be buying some. The very minute I can!
As an observation, there ARE batch inconsistencies as between my first sample, my luckyscent sample, & my fresh from the factory bottle. The first was sweeter, the second soapy, medicinal in the opening & heavy on “white musk” oddly enough similar to Bounce outdoor fresh dryer sheets. My bottle is thankfully rose dominant, and I think as with many quality perfumes, will only get better with age. I look forward to getting older together..
My bottle finally made it! The strength of this is enormous! Not heavy or thick. I look forward to this all summer long! My home smells of roses.. This is a must try for any rose lover. Beware, these Tai’fi will steal your heart & keep it!

Tried this attar on the back of my left hand when I was trying another attar, Tribute, on my right wrist. Bitter orange and jasmine were all I could identify from this attar at the beginning. Very light incense and oud started to appear after about 20 minutes while the rose, amber and sandalwood did not show up until after about an hour. This attar seemed to be too light to my taste as intense and enormous fragrance is more of my cup of tea; however, sometimes I might just need to have some delicate and softer scent to suit my quite moments.

Homage is gorgeous but I expected something different. The roses are beautiful but adorned with slightly too much citrus for my taste. The aoud note is so faint that I would not have noticed it if I did not know it was there. This scent is great for everyday, long lasting with minimum silage. A personal pleasure I would say.

At it’s best, totally divine but beware of possible batch variations & maybe buy in person. There is much less rose Taifi in my newer bottles, which is most disappointing. They were purchased from authorised, rather famous, retailers.
Looking for some Rose Tai’ifi attar now…..

Love love love…just waiting for the day that I can afford it or find someone who wants to buy a bottle for me…lol As much as I love it, I can’t bring myself to buy a bottle – just way to expensive for me. This just works magically on my skin. Not loud but enough that it rises from my wrists to remind me that it’s there. Carries on beautifully and changes over and over again for many hours. Perhaps I will order another sample again for now 🙂
Edit: Decided that I way to much in love with this beautiful fragrance and buying a bottle for myself. It’s just so perfect on my skin and also very calming to wear. I wear it on my wrists, temples and collarbone. yummm 🙂
Update 4/25/13: I’ve had the bottle since November 2012 and I must say that I truly love this fragrance. I have used half the bottle and stopped using it everyday so it can last. I find mixing a drop with some body oil makes it last on my skin even longer and it lasts weeks on a scarf. If you like citrus, rose, with a touch of incense, sandalwood and oud this is a must try. With the weather now getting warmer in NY this lovely attar puts me in a great mood. Happy sniffing 🙂

It smells like that beautiful scent, my mother’s floral soap had it, oh, the memories, I was a little girl… I like the scent.
Upd.: warmer weather and higher temperature made the scent go nice on me, with gentle flowers. The scent got transparent, almost crystal-like. Loved it.

many people mentioned rose/oud, so i was imagining some heavy, strong scent, instead this is first of all citrusy scent, on one hand i had aqua allegoria pamplelune, on the other i just dabbed this Homage, and it took it good 10 mins to start opening, cause its oil,and takes time before it starts spreading the smell around, after an hour i was amazed how strong the scent became…it did start overpowering pamplelune after 15-20 mins though but after an hour that was it! amazing ATTAR! the shit!! :), the other amazing thing was that they are simmilar except that pamplelune smells cheapish next to it and too sweet, chemical 🙂 but they are in the simmilar group for me!
homage smells more masculine to me, it has many layers and i cant smell much oud, at least not in a form it was presented in parfumes like midnight oud or some oud by killian, and the sweet smell i get i think is from taif rose and lovely orange!…so my first impression was this is masculine citrusy scent, with some femminine side to it that i could not explain, i would never say for this parfume that it is floral bouquet 🙂 this just isnt that, but then again it has that femminine sweet side…
its not overpowering but its very present and strong!

I was a little bit affraid to apply Homage at the first time, because I read the rewiews below, but I overcame my shyness and I done it.:)
This frag is just lovely! I absolutely understand this fragrance would be a horrible stinky stuff if it doesn’t works with the chemistry well..but I have to say my skin loves the orientals and works beautifully with Amouage aromas, so I just amazed by this uplifting scent.
I dont like citrus scents, but Amouage Homage is an exception. It’s juicy -zesty orange candy scent with a twist of incense and sandalwood.Unique, unusual scent. I have to say this frag is another well made Amouage perfume.

Reposting earlier comment on Tribute here, was asked by another member to repost:
Guys, im my search for good attars I went to arabic countries, including Oman. There I went to Amouage’s factory. The truth is that Amouage produces its attars with varying quality. I am not sure why this is happening but they have some problems controlling quality of the end-product, probably because they have different inputs for each batch. I personally got my hands on 3 different qualities of the Tribute. Only one of them was as good as it was supposed to be. The other two batches had either too much tobacco or too much vetiver or too little rose etc in the final bouquet. So please try the bottle before you buy it, don’t rely on the tester, try THAT VERY BOTTLE. The same problem is with other, originally excellent, attars – Al Mulook, Al Mas, Eidyya, Badr al Budur, Al Andalus. The way to correct the Tribute that has too much tobacco is to add further 5-15% of Ajmal’s rose oil – the spicy and zesty Kashmiri rose that they widely sell in their shops in the arabic countries (they also call it Ruh al Ward). After mixing wait for 2-3 months keeping the bottle in the dark cool cabinet. The result exceeded my expectations! Good luck!

It starts with citrus on eucalyptus oil/lemon grass oil, it travels and permeates my comfort zone giving me more comfort. then the rose and smoke starts to unravel peeling one by one till it become dominant then the smell of rose accompanied inside frankincense starts to appear, my god the smell is reaaaaally divine , i cannot describe it though after keeping some money for a year i own it together with tribute, both fragrance do burn a large hole in my wallet, but it worth every penny the smell is indeed unique, one drop is more than enough to spread it’s divine smell, the only problem is my family likes it, and i am obsessed with it and become more stingy to let them try and to me it is the penultimate perfume that i must have , i fear that my hunger for perfume is satiated and i am stuck with homage forever and the terms limited edition scares me, should i keep more money to buy another bottle?…

i had it because i’ve heared so much good about it. Much adu about nothing:) Maybe nice on male skin, that kind of sharp vetyver or something. But can get same effect paying less, much less.

I get this strong citrus and perhaps silver incense note? It has the same pungent feel to it as eucalyptus oil, and smells rather like that left over trail left if you’ve left it running through a vaporizer overnight or on your tissue. Then i start getting an ‘old spice’ style masculine element coming through. It’s way too masculine and pungent on me… I could never wear this.

wonderful magical fragrance, classed in the 10 most beautiful fragrances in the world !!
it is just not my style, too feminine, too sensitive scent, not romantic but naive fragance, i dont like wear this but it is a chef d’oeuvre for those who like his style of perfumes

I wore this four times before writing my review. The reason is I needed to.
The fisrt three wearings I used a light hand, and was pleasantly surprised by the light, airy floral notes. Actually, i get more jasmine/oud here than rose, as the top notes don’t stick out much to me. It’s lovely when first applied.
The problem is I found myself walking out the door feeling the love, and later that evening fretting over stepping out without wearing a scent. And then I remembered I did apply something, it just evaporated too quickly.
On this fourth wearing I dumped the remaining sample vile on myself. I highly recommend not doing this; if you do the only homage you’ll be paying is to the shower.
I can’t recommend this, actually. i think it would leave a better impression as an EDP, not as a thick, highly concentrated oil. It just doesn’t wear well.

I have three Amouage attars yet find information about impossible to find . I would love any help, the ones I own are Tay’ibba, Baha and Rose . The very small labels fell off when they arrived so I am guessing at spelling. at least two of these are included in “Homage” I believe.

  36. :

Homage is a luscious bouquet of the most ambrosial, luxurious and intoxicating roses one could ever imagine. Opening, in harmony with the roses, is a micro burst of refined bergamot that lingers just long enough for the introduction of yet another pleasing and more dulcet citrus-orange, During the drydown, the roses, without relinquishing their preeminence, gently lay down into a magnificent bed of rich, but pleasant and mild, frankincense that has been mingled with sweet citrus, smooth amber, sexy musk and beautifully balanced wood. I fell in love with this attar. However with it’s limited release and prohibitive cost ($350.00 or more per ounce), I fear that my desire to own a bottle is as much a fantasy as one of those spun by the legendary Scheherazade.

I heard Luca Turin talking about this on the radio – I like the idea of a scent combining a country’s three great raw materials: frankincense, mountain rose and ambergris. Luca says it smells great too.
