If 80ies Bond Girls had a signature scent, this would probably be it. Musky, woody, sweet, this juice has shoulder pads and fishnet tights under the business suit.
Unfortunately, after about four hours it dries down to something that reminds me of a mix of shoe polish, an aircraft toilet and bubble gum. Not for me.
wertitox – :
Like Arabie, this one smells like a soft chewy sweet date to me. Except without the spices. Very edible, rich scent. Alcohols dissapear fast, and leather / juniper not dominant, can barely notice them. (which is good in my book.) Very good scent, though for me not revolutionary on the unique factor nor the balsamic quality. I would wear it but it wouldn’t really stir my emotions up. And where is the smoke?
Disappears fast though…quiet drydown.
Niklc2011 – :
9 AM – A mix of scents on top of cheap incense. Amber and tree notes (my brain says pine but the list says birch, which is probably right because my brain is dumb) predominate, with a salty tinge that seems out of place.
9:45 – Has settled into an amber and leather blend. I can still smell the birch/cedar bit, and the sillage (but not when I stick my nose to skin) is heavy on the incense. I just noticed that cinnamon is listed and I have yet to enjoy anything with that note so maybe that’s what’s throwing me off.
I do not like this but it is…sexy, maybe? Sensual?
It reminds me of the Tauer L’Air Du Desert Marocain, another cult favorite that I’m just plain not into.
1:45 – Still around but just a skanky, overly-sweet vanilla. Decided to spray another sample that came with an order, not chosen. This one smells like tuberose and toothpaste. It’s lovely.

Imagine yourself walking through the Orient express, the famous train that used to travel the route from Paris to Istanbul. Famous people and famous stories have been and happened there, Hercule Poirot stories took their place in that train and many movies and many books as well.
Now, imagine yourself in the year 1934, walking through the Orient express and entering the VIP 1st class wagon.
The whole train has the leather furniture, but in this wagon is special type of leather, the most expensive and the softest one. Also, it is made of finest wood and it has that smell of well preserved, tho not completely new, ambery wood which is mixed with the leather, women’s perfumes and gentlemen’s bourbon. That special 1934 Orient express Hercule Poirot wagon smell 🙂
This is how Ambre Russie smells, at least on my skin, and I feel lucky because this is the finest leather fragrance I have tried so far.
It smells cozy, warm and undoubtedly classy.
Very rounded, balanced masterpiece.
Not much vodka on my skin nor champagne. Amber is soft and warm and completely merged with other notes.
Beauty.

This is a nice fragrance, the boozy notes disappear quite quickly to reveal a great blend of amber, leather, Insense and spice. Definitely a could weather fragrance, more suited towards the evenings in more formal settings. This is unisex but leaning towards masculine. The leather, Insense and amber are the stars, they play together so well. I don’t really get tea to my nose, or maybe I’m not familiar enough with the note?
Bottle worthy for me!
jordaket – :
Dry champagne opening, which really smells like drinking alcohol, not perfume alcohol. Then a beautiful, herb tinged amber appears. It’s a resinous, warm dry amber. The aromatic element is not sharp (I blind sniffed as rosemary/lavender but I think it’s the juniper + tea – does smell like lavender though). It’s somewhat sweet but not in a food way, more of a tea with one sugar sort of way. There is a little animalic note to the amber, though it smells more like a touch of a cola-sweet animalic substance like civet (or a non salty ambergris?) than a leather note. Despite birch and incense being rated highly in the note chart, this is not a smoky scent on me. It smells like unburnt incense resins, yes, but no smoke. The projection is medium to low on me after the opening, but I do like it a lot. I could see this being a cozy scarf scent during winter.
jmq822JeomiWogkig – :
When I first put this on, I was trying to work out what this particular note was that was teasing my nose. Then I looked at the notes and realized what it was: vodka, with a herby note. I got to sample a beautiful gin on Christmas Eve – it’s a deep petrol blue in the bottle and in the glass, but when a tiny splash of soda water is added, it turns a gorgeous violet colour. This reminds me of that – the alcoholic tang of the gin but with a yummy fresh herbal/floral note. It’s warm and smoky thanks to the amber and incense and leather, but the spices lift it and give it a lovely kick. Sadly, longevity isn’t great, on me at least – barely two hours. Glad I got to try it though. While it lasts, it’s lovely.

This is my New Year’s Eve fragrance for the last 4 years. It is a great choice to celebrate on a cold winter’s night; Vodka, Champagne, and Tea! What more could you want?

İlk sıktığınız an açılışı muhteşem.

The first sprayed, the opening spectacular. It has a pretty boozy opening. But it is very short. It’s a nice start with a sharp skin with vodka and champagne. But after 5 minutes, the perfume is sweetened with amber, coriander and cinnamon. A tea note comes and one goes. I liked the tea note used. The initial incense note is also very good, but it could have been better if it was not a sweet amber sovereignty afterwards.
I wish the starter part lasted longer. Because votankan withdrawal and sweetening are combined with amber use which I do not like. But definitely try an amber-based perfume you’re looking for. Amber is well-crafted.

You know that experience of that partner you’ve never known but you know, yes , it’s ridiculous, she’s whining and twisting in front of you but you don’t know why you are entranced, Enter AMBRE RUSSE, if you are looking for ambre, i guarantee, you can’t do better than Amouage opus vi and Ambre Russe, but let me tell you a secret, Ambre Russe is original ambergris, if you are in to individual notes, you’ll understand my insight, Jesus, Ambergris and musk piercing through winter, fabulous

This is my favorite amber fragrance at this point. The boozy note wears off quickly, but the fragrance is a great combination of amber, incense, tea, and spices.
AMShulga – :
To my nose, this is one of the best cold weather fragrances out there. It’s sweet, but over-18 sweet, nothing sickly or immature. It also wears equally well dyring the day and night, I’d say it’s both comforting and glamorous, somehow. Love it.
Lenok399 – :
There is some nice warm oriental food notes that reminds me of Serge Lutens Arabie. Arabie’s quite sharp at the beggining and has sweet resinous lasting.
Ambre Russe is smoky and has good unsweet spice and tea notes. Do not like much juniper, but all notes together makes it stable warm nice spicy unisex fragrance.
A seductive, odd take on amber. The vodka note is prominent up top. Not sure how to describe what vodka smells like except that it’s like slightly spicy rubbing alcohol. It cuts the sweetness of the amber accord nicely and leaves you with a great colder weather, night out scent. A bit powdery but unisex.
5-7 hours on my skin. A solid 8/10 for me. Worth looking for a decant of.

Review of earlier styled bottle:
Ambre Russe by Parfum d’Empire is perhaps one of the most convincing and innovative amber fragrances in one’s experience. It is a smoky, boozy amber, with the boozy aspects having been handled with a deft touch. There is the unmistakable sparkling opening alluding to champagne, laced with vodka, and a light touch of spice. There is soon a leathery aspect from the birch, and a remarkable note of smoky black tea develops. The amber grows in parallel, and wraps a warm, comforting shawl around the other elements.
Ambre Russe wears with an airy, persistent sillage and has excellent duration on skin. It balances its diverse elements to create a consistent, compelling composition that ranks among the best amber fragrances. Ambre Russe is highly evocative. It is unique, yet never sacrifices beauty or wearability. This is one of those rare cases where concept and execution are of the highest order.
4/5
Review of current version:
To clarify, I owned a bottle of the earlier version. I recently tried a sample from a trusted source. To my disappointment, this was more powerful but less nuanced, more spicy, and all the boozy, leathery notes meshed together with amber into a single thick accord that is less ingenious and more clunky and cluttered, and absolutely none of the wonderful black tea note.
I sincerely hope it was the sample, but please try before you buy.

Cyser – :
Mmmm, a good amber, which, like any good amber, makes me long for the cool air of October. To me it smells like Ambra Aurea, so I’m testing them side by side. Results: Aurea is darker and more mysterious, with a bittersweetness something like that of molasses. Russe is warmer and friendlier, with more of a browned-sugar sweetness and a hint of quality leather, like Cuir Ottoman (which I adore) from the same house. I feel like Russe is thus more wearable on a more regular basis, but Aurea is still intriguing and would be right for an edgier vibe, and in any case they are both in the same family of scent and the difference here is a matter of small degrees.
boog_17 – :
It is very top quality but sorry I don’t like Amber.
For me 5/10

Gigoursig – :
I’d heard Parfum d’Empire Ambre Russe hyped pretty thoroughly and as a growing fan of amber-dominant scents, it’s easier to be skeptical when the bar is set so high, but Ambre Russe lives up to the hype and more, being a slightly unconventional amber that nevertheless hits on a lot of great spots.
An unorthodox but seemingly thorough note lineup of vodka, champagne, leather, incense, cumin, coriander, vanilla, and ambergris, with the ambergris providing the name. The most dominant accords are the sweet liquor and vanilla combined with incense and leather, fostering a sweet, boozy, dark, smoky concoction that’s quite pleasant while not being too sweet.
It’s important to note that the ambergris doesn’t provide the full amber experience (of a creamy, gourmand-like amber) but rather the animalic side of the substance. And the coriander and cumin combine to yield an animalic spiciness of their own, though all of animalic and spicy sides to the fragrance are subservient to the sweet and boozy.
Performance is quite good, with excellent longevity and well above average projection for hours for a niche EDP, and at $145 for 100ml (seemingly only available via Luckyscent in the US), it’s worthwhile in my book and one that is surely on my list of future acquisitions, perhaps for the coming autumn. It’s not quite as exceptional as my very favorite amber-dominant fragrances, Tom Ford Amber Absolute and Dior Mitzah, but it’s right up there in the next tier down.

This and Single Malt from By Kilian, are the only two fragrances with boozy accords, out of what I’ve smelled, that actually smell like some form of alcohol, with this one being the most boozy out of the two in my opinion. The opening of this LITERALLY smells like you just opened a bottle of vodka and just dove your nose right into it, getting that sharp tinge from the alcohol in the beginning. Single Malt also smells very boozy but I think the sweetness takes away the authenticity a little bit. Pure Malt does not smell boozy at all. I know it’s supposed to imitate the smell of whisky, but anyone who’s ever smelled whiskey before can attest that pure malt smells nothing like it. Whiskey is very harsh in the way it smells. Pure Malt smells more like over-ripened fruit than whiskey.
uox665speagoessenda – :
These reviews throw me a bit. Ambre Russe, to my nose is a tobacco amber. I don’t get booze…just the sweetest, most pure, incredibly rich tobacco over a lush amber and anchored with a lovely vanilla. No powder and no plastic, vanillic drydown. Quite mature and divinely sublime. I ordered a sample from “First in Fragrance” which I wore three times, then I pulled the trigger on a 100ml bottle. I am an amber lover and count Farmacia Annunziata & Ortigia “Ambra Nera”, MPG “Ambre Doré” and “Ambre Sultan” (amongst others) my loves. Longevity is excellent with “Ambre Russe” and it’s a oerfect accompaniment for cold, dreary weather.
vladimir_rakity – :
Was given and sample of this and straight of the bat I can def say it’s different.
There is what I swear is something that smells slightly off about it and I think that it’s missing something like orange to balance out the musk, amber and other dark notes but that’s just me.
I don’t get the vodka or champagne which would be nice if this blend amped it upa bit.
Ramzes2 – :
Erm, nope.
Spilled alcohol, on dampened leather, drab and dreary.
It may get richer later on (and it does become wonderful 3 hours in) but I’d rather have it wonderful 3 seconds in for my money, sorry.
It’s a terribly disappointing introduction; no sweetness and even hint of smoked-rubber on 1 of my few testings as i tried to give it a gasping chance.
No way.
My rating: 2/10.

Ambre
Russe

This is a wonderful perfume! I think that it is classified as gourmand, not Oriental spicy.
If you like sweet perfume, you love this one. This perfume have a controlled sweet note, and isn’t so sweet.
Marc Antonie was designed this perfume and It evokes the splendor of the court of the last Tsar of Russia.
At the First, Alcoholic scent is so dominant, but after 5 minute this scent was vanished and Amber was fade in. In this step spicy notes become detectable.
Imagine an ocean of mild sweet notes that some boats is in this ocean that are bitter scent and the nose of these boats is spices… Ambre Russe is in this point of view in middle notes.
Finally, base notes was come after about 50 minute. In this step, spices were gone and you can detect amber and alcoholic notes together.
I think that top notes isn’t good, so this character is a bad factor for buying this perfumes by beginners. But the best scent is coming after 50 minute…
ohq834Unlogrere – :
So this is actually an ambergris perfume, not amber based. I’m not an expert, but it sais so on the official website, and I know I smelled ambergris in Tauer’s Orange Star, and it’s the same note I smell here.
Ambre Russe is an opulent fragrance, warm and enveloping but not soft. It has moderate sillage on me, yet it catches my attention all the time, I cannot forget what I’m wearing. That’s a plus for me. For the rest, it’s all been said. Boozy and juicy, a little powdery, sweet just enough.
It will be my next buy.
Lokfleese – :
Y’all, I’m so bummed — the notes on this are everything I should love, but all I get from it on me is catnip, literal catnip!
sds0311 – :
This extremely smoky and boozy amber is so gorgeous that it makes me teary-eyed. If only it could retain the intensity of the opening a bit longer! On me it has a minimal projection after the first hour or so; it’s there, but it’s very muted. Some might say that Ambre Russe is so over-the-top that the reserved demeanor is actually a good thing, but I’d like it to remain loud and heavy. You should finish what you started! 😀
I’d buy a full bottle in a heartbeat if it had a better projection/sillage. It’s not super expensive for a niche, but it isn’t exactly cheap either, therefore I’m not ready to shell out the cash for it yet. Luckily there’s plenty of it left in my decant so I can do further testing and enjoy the glorious initial blast.
EDIT: According to the feedback I’ve gotten for Ambre Russe it appears that it has a decent throw after all. Puzzling! :O

Amber it’s one of my favourite notes. I like it for its exotism and warmness. Ambre Russe it’s for me a ”boozy amber” fragrance. It’s deep, evocatice and opulent. Very suitable for cold weather and nights. IMO it’s rather masculine that unisex due to smoky character. Sincerely, my favourite amber fragrance until now. If you like rich oriental fragrances, you will like Ambre Russe.

Today my bottle of Ambre russe arrived and I have to tell you I am beyond thrilled! What a spectacular and heady amber fragrance. For years I have been looking (since ambre orient Armani Privé) for a satisfying amber scent made from natural ingredients and Ambre Russe is the answer to my prayers. I am completely mesmerized by its beauty and depth. Not only does it last for hours on my skin but it developes like a fairytale evolving and revealing its sensual and captivating structure.
Amber lovers, this is the holy grail;-)
academo – :
Ambre Russe is an ode to Tsarist Russia. I imagine an opulent, decadent soiree in one of those magnificent palaces in Saint Petesburg, with the women dressed in opressive corsets and expensive jewelry while the men are dressed in their elaborate brocade outfits and their powdered wigs. Everyone, without exception, smells like they were drowned in booze. The food splendid and plentiful, is a reminder that the majority of the Russians outside were starving. Its a time when Russia both looks to the East and West, like the coat of the house of the Romanovs.
Baroque, magnificent, opulent, decadent, in one word, an amazing perfume. Ambre Russe also has that resinous quality that hints that this is a world that has long been gone… It will be your warm embrace in the unforgiving winter of Siberia.
Smell great my friends.
demienis – :
Chemistry is a funny thing.
The reviews from Perfume Posse made me think of a Peter the Great style all-night Eastern European bender (honestly, that alone was my selling point!) but when I put this on, I get three things: an intense blast of booze (straight up grainy vodka smell) that goes away after a few minutes, AMBER, and a eeensie-tiny whiff of tobacco.
Like I’ve said in the past, at least I like amber. 😉 I dig it, but this is not a complex scent on me.
Gurlevan – :
Ambre Russe is a fragrance that is very well mixed, complex, very soothing and not convinced, especially since the beginning feeling of being binge at a party with a lot of smoke and smell of sweaty skin. Drying is better and more enjoyable, but without losing that touch described.
The feeling is sweltering, somewhat uncontrolled for my nose. I do not see using this to me.

Powerful, boozy, animalic, notes of tea. This is my favorite amber (well tied with Ambre Sultan). This has the power to last a full 24 hours on me.
Xeroxxjpcn – :
On my skin, Ambre Russe opens with a strong dry, powdery, slightly boozy amber. It quickly settles down a bit and becomes sweeter. Soft smoky woods start to emerge and replace the booziness. Then soft spices and leather join the party to round out the scent.
I find Ambre Russe to be a very well balanced, sophisticated and classy scent with a bit of a playful side to it. Like a wholesome woman with a devilish grin on her face.
I get very long lasting performance with great projection on my skin.
Yes, it is similar to amber sultan, but this one stands on it’s own and makes it’s own way in the world. It is not a clone scent.
Bottom line: If you are looking for great amber scents, you should try this one.

I get the alcohol note then a beautiful Amber, there’s a lovely skanky note in this which I thought was patch but it’s not listed. The birch wood and incense show up too giving a leathery tone and contribute to a fantastic scent, this is unisex to my nose either sex could pull this off its gorgeous.
Cuir Ottoman was my first blind purchase from Parfum d`Empire and I fell in love with the fragrance. I was given a small veil of Ambre Russe, I finally acquired a 100ml bottle, I enjoying wearing this warm smooth amber juice tone with leather and a hint of spicy/smokey notes without throwing off the delicate balance.
After this juice settle there’s a warm realistic aromatic scent bringing this together giving it a delicate yet deep unisex aroma.
Longevity and Silage is excellent lasting well past 8hrs
Finally,
This fragrance has to be in the top 5 Amber fragrance. I abousotley enjoy wearing this elegant, sophisticated juice. There’s nothing linear about this fragrance. It’s amazing that it’s a fraction of the price being a EDP. Well worth having in your collection. 9.5/10

A pleasant fragrance but its not exciting (on me anyway!). Yes, I briefly smelt the alcoholic drinks and then the amber, incense and coriander. After an hour the suede becomes much more obvious along with the tea and incense as they take over the show. The sillage is moderate but the longevity is impressive. Im glad I tested it but I wouldnt bother with an fb.
I tested this again and what happened it completely changed into a new fragrance. This time its a big dose of delicious amber, a swig of alcohol and incense. Only the development is the same as before.
I think everyone must test a fragrance at least twice to have a chance of writing a reasonably accurate review.

A perfume I would love to buy (or get for xmas this year!). I loved the smell the moment I put it on my wrist, maybe because I was used to Ambre Sultan (Serge Lutens). However, this perfume is more sweet instead of the herbal amber of Ambre Sultan. I can happily fantasize being on the Orient Express with this scent!
What I thought was pretty funny is that my boyfriend and friends did not like the fragrance when I first sprayed it, but after 10-15min they would smell it again and tell me what wonderful perfume it is! I tried it once and some weeks later a second time, and the same thing happened 🙂 Luckily for me, the boozy top notes dry off quick and leave a warm amber fragrance behind. It has a wonderful sillage. I keep on contently smelling my wrists for hours and hours after!
serenka09 – :
I am an amber lover and this is in my top three ambers of all time! I liked it the first moment I sampled it. That like quickly turned to love. Love is now becoming addiction. This one has really become something that I crave.
It begins as a smoked black tea with a shot of vodka on the side. The vodka dies down and a little leather joins in with the smokey tea. Then spices begin to show up. Some cinnamon, a bit of coriander and a dash of cumin. Now the amber shows up to the party. Wow, what a powerful animal this amber is too! Full bodied, rich and deep. It goes on forever! About 8 to 10 hours later the sweet vanilla begins, mixing with the amber. This continues to the next day. I can even smell it on sweaters days later!
So overall fragrance 10/10
Longevity 10/10
Sillage 9/10 ( gets loads of compliments without suffocating)
A must-have for amber lovers.
My go-to fall/winter perfume.

You know once in awhile something like this comes along in the samples I order and just blows my socks off leaving me speechless. Wow. This fights my number one Amber fragrance, newest tom ford Amber absolute for the number one spot. This scent is not linear, it has different stages and all are phenomenal.
I’m in love with this stuff. It’s such a beautiful Amber that unfolds on the skin. It’s not like Amber absolute, it’s a boozy soft Amber. After the dry down I get a sweet tobacco leather base that comes through. It’s not linear. It has great longevity and projection. On basenotes, it shows it as being feminine. No. If anything I find it to be more masculine but will agree to put it right down the middle as unisex.
This is one of them fragrances where it is very very very pleasing to smell and you will catch yourself smelling your wrist over and over, a intoxicatingly pleasing aroma that’s borderline addictive.

The price point is great for a 100ml right around $135 shipped so I am going to say this is a safe blind buy if you appreciate boozy and Amber accords. Very sexy. I would say this shines best in cool to cold weather. Great night on the town scent dressed up or dressed casually nice. Age 25-50 honestly very versatile for what it is. I find this scent gets better each time I reach for it. When I got it as a sample at first I wasn’t sure about it bc I have TF Amber absolute on the “throne” and compare all ambers to that as its my #1 Amber of all time.

People can romanticize this fragrance all they want, but,
if you want to know what it really smells like, imagine this;
Walking into a large Senior Citizen’s Bingo Parlor to pick up your grandparent. An overwhelming stench of amber mixed with mature people’s liniments smacks you in the face.
Well, there you have it.
This is an amber bomb and liniment combo for senior citizens.
Unfortunately, it lasts a long, long time, even after you shower and scrub 🙁

Received a sample of this from a lovely fragrantican and WOW this MY KIND OF AMBER!!! It is rich, a bit boozy and classy. On my skin I get the clean yet dirty amber, incense, top shelf champagne, cinnamon, tea, leather and something quite sweet almost floral (maybe the booze??). Anyway, I’m saving to add a FB to my wardrobe as this is simply divine. It might find a spot on my Fave 5. 🙂

I used to be a huge fan of amber, but I overdosed on the genre and got bored of it. The only ones I keep around now are Ambre 114, Amber Absolute, and Ambre Sultan. This is the sort oily, balsamic, leathery amber as opposed to the sweet oriental style. It’s on the same page as Ambre 114 and Ambre Vie in that regard, only there’s a herbal citrus type note lurking behind the scenes that smells a tad boozy (like gin). It’s dry, a bit chemical, but it’s certainly striking out and doing something different than other ambers. The honeyed booze and earthy balsam effect isn’t sitting quite right for me — it feels a bit grey and tired, but it’s certainly characterful and I could see it as someone’s go-to amber. It doesn’t move me, though.

After I discovered the magic Dior Ambre Nuit described as evoking decadent balls of the nineteenth century (the association is very inspired), I tested with many hopes Ambre Russe, which is said to describe the opulence and decadence of the Tsarist Empire.
Well, my expectations were not cheated at all, even I would say were exceeded in good measure – this perfume is even more complex than Ambre Nuit and, more descriptive, narrative, through its nuances, some transient, referring to Russian manners of that time (vodka, champagne, tea).
This perfume has traits from both Ambre Nuit (perhaps ambergris presence) and from Thie
