Description

Ted Lapidus Envol was launched in 1981. Envol means “flight” in French. “I gave it that light name, spacious and airy, because it is the perfume of space, of night and time,” Ted Lapidus.

The perfume was created by Roger Pellegrino modeled on the eponymous Lancome perfume from the 50s. Envol is a green scent enriched with notes of flowers (roses and jasmine) and fruits and the dry background of woods, musk, amber and earthy tones. Available as pure perfume, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum.

After 40years, i can still recall its purest fresh citrusy smell. Very classic, reminisce of my kid time.
I hope TL will re-release this without changing its original smell.

One of the most sublime perfumes I have every had the pleasure of wearing. Terrific, oakmossy, sweet, sharp floral chypre that would probably be too expensive (and too restricted IFRA) to make these days. I remember it from the early 80’s when I chanced upon it in a small perfumery and fell in love with it, I was a teenager when I started wearing it unaware it was a grown up perfume. I also wore Magie Noire when I was a very young – precocious kid. Envol is unbelievably beautiful. I cherish the stash I have and wear it for special occasions and when I do wear it I know I am lucky to have this perfume in my collection. An excitement inducing perfume.

Envol is a marvellous scent whose notes are extremely well blended : the green notes do not make Envol “herbal” at all as they do not dominate the flower notes . Oakmoss is not that strong like in some chypre fragrances .
Is is very feminine , delicate , and the gentle green notes just equilibrate the sweet ones . Is is perfection , it is grace !
It really meets my tastes and it is a shame that it is discontinued . There are no commercial fragrances that are similar to this kind of perfume , how sad !
Edit : The opinion above is related to the Parfum concentration .

My mother had a bottle of Envol in the 80’s. At that time I though it was a great fragrance. Once it was over we could never buy another one. It’ s a pitty; I think it was pretty special ; an unforgettable fragrance for me.

I’m sad that it is discontinued ! I can’t forget this scent since I was a kid !!!! This is almost a tragedy ! Why.. why.. why they discontinued it? So many people just miss it ! It’s not cheesy, not stinky as some ‘seductive” floral spicy perfumes. It’s just dreamy like a poem with heights, winds, smell of freedom of mind. very awakening and inspiring and special perfume to me

Is it possible this one to be the perfume L’Envoi from the Stephen King’s book Langoliers ?
