I’m so glad that I could find a tester of this D’Orsay, because I was very curious. Not something I could buy blind. The price for 40ml is about 170 euro.
I like it for it’s unique smell. It’s comfortable and snuggly, only not from the beginning. It smells a little weird, harsh and balsamic in the opening and it doesn’t set down for long time. In spite of being very powerful it’s not cloying nor sickening, but after a while it seems that I cannot smell it anymore. It becomes very subtle When I thought that it was gone, it came back with a lovely musky edge and some vanilla that smells like benzoin.
The amber part is interesting because it doesn’t smell like your typical amber accord, no powder and no soap.
It stayed on my skin even after scrubbing with soap in its vanilla-musk form. I didn’t notice a big projection. The term “intimate” is suitable.
The scope of this perfume is creating a personal signature given by your own chemistry and you can top it with any other perfume to make a special one.
I’m not sure that amber and musk smell this way in nature and I doubt there is any here. Just my doubt.

This is an incredibly sexy fragrance. Very feminine to me but not beyond the realms of experimentation, after all I did wear it and thoroughly enjoy it too. The sweet opening lasts for ages and it’s a warm floral musk with tons of powdery amber which at first is just too feminine, to ever consider for me regardless how nice I think it is. As it dries down though (after several hours)the benzoin and vanilla kicks a little more in the base and it becomes more appealing wearing and less loudly girly.
It evokes pink to me…but a sexy hot pink perhaps? Seriously if my girlfriend took to wearing this I would be compelled to ravish her. It is literally amber and musk but amazing how different it is to other amber scents (I have tried)and that’s a good achievement.
It’s strong too last ages and projects very heavily.
