    Fragrance -Amber & Spices Montale
    Bottle from – 2015
I personally like Montale fragrances.Oud,or agarwood, (frequently referred to as “black gold” in the Middle East) is not in the name, but it’s the main character in this story from the beginning till the end.
Amber & Spices opens with a intriguing, exotic, sensual and a bit spicy blend of medicinal oud and elusive rose.
Than as it lingers on the skin,it slowly moves to a little bit dark, deep, dry, masculine, moderatly sweet and woody scent with a nice touch of amber. It has some similarities to New York Amber by Bond No 9.
    Longevity – 8/10(8+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 7,5/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours)
Weather – best in autumn and winter
    Age – 26+
    Compliments – 7/10
    Scent – 8/10
Main notes according to me – oud, spices, amber, rose, sandalwood.
The drydown is moderatly sweet, dark and a little bit dry i get some -woodiness,oud,sandalwood and amber.
    Emotions -intriguing,exotic,sensual,dark vibe elegance,
    sexy,night fun,decadence.
Occasion -perfect for special occasions and nights out.
    Try before you buy.

    Fragranza sicuramente femminile.

While Montale Amber & Spices does include its eponymous notes, my experience of it is far more dominated by a powdery leathery mix, maybe animalic from the cumin and bitter due to the oud. The only warming and endearing saving grace of the fragrance is the rose, which makes the blend slightly prettier.
I’d argue that the first word of the fragrance name being “amber” is a bit misleading, as this does not strike me as an amber fragrance at all, but rather one in which amber simply stands in the background, the base. Nor is it all that spicy. It’s an odd blend perhaps simply in need of another name for clarity’s sake, but after, that’s what sites like this are for.
Amber & Spices also features the brand’s signature strong performance as far as both projection and longevity. However, it lacks an interesting character. It’s not bad, but rather missing something that would make it good.

It’s NOTHING like Bond 9! It’s too feminite for me. May smell wonderful on women.

This is a very weird scent at first….when you smell your wrist after application it’s a very almost blush-worth ‘personal’ type scent surrounded by beautiful ambergris and spices..as time wears on that odd sweat/skin/liquid sex scent dissipates some and you’re left with glowing embers of spices and amber with woods….I like it.

Well…I find in the net 3 different colors of the bottle of this perfume and can’t understand is this all are the same or different “Amber & spices”?
First, I saw “Amber & spices” in gold bottle..the next one is in brown…and now – in dark blue..where is the truth?! 😉

Amber & Spices (tested from a dabber)
    I am in love.
It opens sharply with oud and spices. It is medicinal and funky from the cumin and oud. The cumin reminds me of a soft lovely musky armpit scent. After a time on my skin, oud becomes warmer, unbelievably sexy as the silky amber surrounds it. The medicinal edge from the oud is still there, the oud is dominant for the life of the fragrance. The rose is very delicate on my skin. I enjoy wearing the Amber & Spices, it is exotic, sexy, and dry. The drydown is soft ambery oud.

Oh OUD! Why do you completely dominate things in the wet stage?
I must say though, as a person who does not like Oud very much, this fragrance is much more tolerable that most Oudy ones. Amber and spices actually compliment it and make it a bit more my style. The Oud in here isn’t all encompassing and STOMP STOMP STOMP like it is in many Montales.
The Ebony wood in here is an interesting note. I cannot say exactly what it smells like but this seems to have such a huge woody depth it beyond the woody tones you get from Oud.
I feel like it leans slightly towards the masculine in the opening but..who cares right?
The amber here is quite subdued in fact, and it’s the spices and incense tones which prevail. The drydown stages are beautifully rich and woody, quite sensual too!
I think I could actually consider buying this one….hmmm maybe.

    This smell is beautiful.
A lovely mix of amber & rose.
    So soft & relaxing.
I would say this fits females more than males.
    I love IT!
I will, unquestionably, buy this for my fiancée.
I’d fall deeper in love with her if she wore this!

Can’t do this. Starts off exactly like Coco Chanel to my nose which I just find too much and too in your face, ends up all Khiels musk which I can’t bear. Not for me.

Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! i LOVE it!! my sig perfume is Amber by Bond 9 which everyone know it s very expensive .. so i found this and i m so happy to find out how similar it is to Amber 9 .. i have on one hand Amber 9 and on the other Amber and spices …. almost the same !!! in the beginning it opens with strong oud – reminded me of Oud Bond 9 , and then surprise !!! my AMBER !! so whoever loves Amber bond 9 and finds it too expensive , then go for Montale amber and spices !

Over a few hours of wear, this scent develops well and has good sillage and excellent longevity. It comes on strong with oud and caraway and smells rather bitter and skanky at first. It calms down to a well balanced oud, spice and rather warm scent, but this is not your typical amber at all. It is not as warm as ambers usually are. This is more of a strong almost medicinal amber with dominant notes of caraway and oud. It balances out to a dry scent that would be great on a man but that just does not work for me. I am not a caraway or an oud lover so this one is not for me, but I can say that it is a well done scent and the perfumer accomplished his goal in creating it.

It took me a while to figure out which house this perfume came from because my vial was marked only Amber & Spices, and for some reason search functions only pull this up if one uses the ampersand, not the word ‘and’! Anyway, good to know that this is Montale.
I find quite a bit of overlap between Amber & Spices and Bond no 9 New York Oud–for better or for worse. I happen to like that perfume a lot, so for me, it’s a plus. The minus is that in Amber & Spices the rose is really toned down. Of course, no one ever claimed that this was a rose perfume. What it is essentially, to my nose, is a very good Montale-version oud scent with some ambroxan thrown in for good measure. Smells pretty appealing, but not very flowery and much less voluptuous than New York Oud.
I would not recommend this as an amber perfume, per se, but it’s a solid woody oriental.

Oh, this is so lovely and different from anything smelled before! I’m not totally in love, but I really like it.
It’s all about soft spices, no pungent rather mellow spices and also wood but I don’t think that aoud is dominant here. I can clearly smell the caraway and it gives the whole blend a very bright vibe, nothing musty here.
In the first hour I smell something like spice broth but very pleasant, not too foody.
Yes, it is about amber, too, but it seems that it plays a backrole and not in the first hour.
The final effect is very bright elegance for both women and men, even if more suitable for women.
It has great lasting power and moderate sillage.

Amber & Spices by Montale should be called Amber, Spices, and OUD—oh my! This is one raunchy amber composition with dirty oud, caraway (?), and lovely, yet subtle rose. I think that cumin is a note because there is something about this fragrance that reminds me of sweaty man parts dipped in amber. So, to answer the question posed by ena86, I think this fragrance is more suitable for a man, but I could appreciate it on a woman too. 😉
    Decent longevity and projection
    4/5 Pure aphrodisiac 😉

Simply amazing. One of if not the best amber frags out there. While over at Bond No 9 or Histoires de Parfum similar amber interpretations come with a hefty price tag this one is definitely a bargain.

Mostly spicy and woody scents at the beginning. Then about 10-15 minutes later, amber came and sandalwood faded, and it became spicy ambery, very lovely.
Caraway warms up the scent, so I think this is best for cool/cold weather.
The whole perfume is strong and intense but very smooth.
The spice is blended well, but somehow it reminds me of my grandmother’s medicinal rubbing oil. That just my own personal experience, so I can’t blame the perfume.
Can I wear it? Yes. Do I want to buy it? Definitely, if I hadn’t known my grandma’s oil for so many years.
I really like it but still hesitate.
