This stuff appears to be a bit of a miracle: if you read the reviews, you’d think we were each talking about a different perfume! I’m in the cloves-and-cardamom camp, it smells gently, elegantly spicy on me. Wearable, ladylike-spicy. Not a trace of patchouli! Just as well :-). No chocolate either.
In the end it mellows and now, after almost 10(!) hours, it still lingers faintly. Oddly, what remains reminds me of paper . . . Is that weird? In any case, mostly I love it. Somehow I need to be in the mood for it, but then I do love it.

Smells like weed and orange zest in a good way.

The angelic, delightful smell of beauty. I have experienced hundreds of perfumes and haven’t yet found one similar to this. To my nose this is a bit masculine for a woman but feminine for a man. I would imagine a stunning person, neither male or female, that makes anyone fall in love the first second they sees them.

So interesting to read how differently this is perceived. I get mostly sweet peach with white chocolate. It’s delicious but I wish I got the patchouli, cardamom and coffee too. Performance is actually quite good – it’s one of the few perfumes I will be able to smell wafting around me but maybe it’s partly because I have the big 120 ml bottle and so spray generously. On a hot day, it’s probably a little too sweet. Linear and versatile – I think of this as a fun, likeable, everyday scent. A little ‘bubbly’ in personality and I like more depth so not a love or one that I feel excited about or that fascinates me anymore but a good, wearable yummy fruity scent that avoids smelling cheap or cloying.

I’m on my third bottle of 1969. It can be worn in all seasons, but I avoid it during the warmest summer days as it packs a spicy punch that is too much for me in heat.
I get cloves and cardamom in the first few minutes, and it’s so interesting to read that others can’t pick up on it. I never detect the peach note, no matter how hard I try and I’m okay with that. It’s so well blended that not every note sticks out.
1969 is best described as a boozy oriental gourmand, perfectly named as it does remind me of being a kid in the early 70s. But I’m hanging out with a hippie who takes showers and likes to have fun. I can imagine I’m wearing my favorite cutoff jeans and my fringed suede jacket. It’s a time machine scent, and I’m happy to have it back in rotation.

this kind of smells like peach air freshener at first-it’s a bit strong. i get mostly peach and white flowers. the chocolate comes through after a couple minutes. after about 10 minutes, the peach calms down a bit and the clove and patchouli comes through. at this point, the scent is WAY better to me. during the drydown there is more musk and rose. it’s pretty. i don’t seem to get any cardamom though.

    1969
Is a very nice gourmand fragrance.
Chocolate, cloves, peaches, roses, patchouly – all into a blender, press play, wait and pour the heavenly smoothie onto your skin.
    Creamy, thick, wholesome, tasty.
I wore this to the gym, didn’t take a shower back home, wearing it now to bed.
    Happy mother’s day to all!

When I tried it for the first time, it seemed really weird and unbalanced, and I honestly didn’t know what to think about it. But each time I try it, I like it even more. For me peach and cardamon are most prominent here. There is also much sweetness, probably from chocolate, and some mature femininity from rose. For me it’s really warm and comforting, but it’s definitely not safe fragrance everyone will like. Nice thing about it is that it changes slightly throughout a day, so I don’t get used to it, and I can feel it all the time.

I smell peach & chocolate at the start with some floral nuance. I thought I loved it. I smell twisted fruit in this one. It’s good but not loved by me. Not yet at least. I still have half of my generous sample.

This is another one where I got a good deal on a travel size bottle so I went for it. By looking at the notes I thought I would love this fragrance because of all the gourmand notes listed, and I love gourmands. I just don’t love this.
1969 opens up with peach with some other fruity notes which give way to some white florals. It is hard for me to wear white florals unless it is Carnal Flower but this ehhhhhh. Up comes a rather small dusting of patchouli which is good for this composition & the white chocolate & musk come aboard. I get no coffee from this.
Parfum de Revolte does not intrigue me nor my skin much for that matter as it sits rather flat with no real excitement. I am sure it will suit someone else just fine, but as for me it is just a average like yet a not for me fragrance. Quality ingredients, longevity around 6 hours, projection is ok.

I dislike rose and patchouli but this fragrance captures both notes in a light and almost fizzy way. On me this smells like a light patchouli rose soda. More of an everyday scent than a standout. Very wearable without being boring. I bought a full bottle and it is my go to fragrance.
I don’t smell the Tobacco Vanilla comparison mentioned below but the vanilla note is def. there.

This was a blind buy, based off the notes on Fragrantica, and the glowing reviews that went along with it.
I just received this today, and I’m not too sure about it. It’s definitely unisex; in fact, this is leaning more on the masculine side for me. It’s giving me strong vibes of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille, which is lovely, but on my husband.
I’ve been wearing this for several hours now, and I have to agree with others in that this is quite a light scent – I have to press my nose against my skin to smell it.
I’ll give it a fair shot, but I have a feeling this will be returned to Sephora by week’s end.
Edited: I’m returning this. It’s not something I’ll ever wear – it’s too masculine for my taste, and it smells like my spice cupboard (and not in a good way).
Another edit: I just went to smell my husband’s bottle of TF’s Tobacco Vanille, and 1969 is a dead ringer to it. To my nose, they smell pretty much identical.

    This simply makes me happy.
I was litteraly smiling because of it every dayd when wearing 1969.
It’s a gourmet scent with some depth that simply is fun and easy.
And I love concept, idea and story behind this.

You’re going all out for Valentine’s Day. It’s the evening, and she’s just come home. You’ve been waiting for her and preparing, hanging clove buds to warm near the windows, covering every inch of the bedroom with roses, putting huge rose bouquets in vases all around, and when she finally comes in, she’s floored. You grab her and she hugs you tight and you both laugh and.. as the tight hug loosens, you both hold each other for a moment. You begin to sense her natural musk and some white flowers here and there as you press your nose into her hair. After some time, you look at each other, and you both smile and share a kiss, thinking about how warm the night might turn out to be. The next morning, she wakes you up with coffee, and she falls in bed next to you with the box of chocolates you had gotten her the night before. By now, you’ve both gotten used to the roses overflowing everywhere, and you’re left with a soft, subtly sweet, and ever so human moment, in love. 1969 by Histoires de Parfums.

This is almost all about the Rose on my skin . My skin seams to amp up rose like crazy. there is a juicy feal of peach making the rose fruity and fresh . I do detect some coffy playing hide and seak I do not find any cardamome or clove at all .
Patchouli yes a down to earth rose planted in the soil standing in the sun giving wafts of exotic flowers . Well i havent smelled such a Rose in real life ,but this smells realy like a sensual oriental seductive Rose to me .

Warm and spicy, flirty and rebellious. Love love love.
Mostly picking up the clove, coffee, and chocolate – YUM. I don’t get the peach very much at all. This is a light gourmand, but not in that cheap cupcake way. It’s more refined, carrying hints of incense/patchouli and rose/florals to round it out.
Reminds me of when I wore it for a Halloween party: black go-go boots, cat eye liner, and a colorful 60s shift dress. I danced for hours that night, and this fragrance carried me all the way home.
Definitely a solid choice for a special (fun) occasion.

Not very much to add to what is already mentioned below. HdP 1969 is a peaceful and tranquil fragrance that suits any season and occasion. All the notes work in perfect harmony to support each other.
The fruity peach gives a balance to the bitter notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The white flowers support the red rose. The cloves amplify the note of cardamon.
Simple yet genius work on display again by the brilliant Gerald Ghislain!
    8.5/10

1969 is delectably, deliciously groovy. I immediately savored notes of sweet rose, creamy chocolate, and ripe peach. An unusual and captivating combo. I soon could smell earthy patchouli and aromatic cardamom. It seems like there is vanilla here too. I can distinctly smell each and every note, and yet they blend together so perfectly. This is such a well-balanced, very enjoyable perfume. Nothing jarring here. Whoever created this is a genius.
A member of this site recommended this when I asked for suggestions for a sophisticated perfume with a playful quality. This certainly fits the bill. The scent as a whole is elegant, but it is also fun. Hedonistic is right, as I get a kick out of knowing how I am sinfully indulging while I am at work. It’s like a guilty pleasure. I purchased a full bottle right away, I simply could not stop sniffing myself. Sillage and longevity are wonderful. 1969 is worthy of all of these glowing reviews.

This is my second full bottle of HDP. Very interesting scent, and very metaphysical. It is definitely fruity, but not so sweet according to my nose. Instead, I find it to be a little sour. The name 1969 refers to the sexual revolution in the US, which, I could feel it in the scent.

  20. :

    5 out of 5

Mmmmh, this is delicious! I smell dark chocolate and fruits. Besides the peach I also get a strong fresh orange note, especially in the top. 1969 is sweet, but also bitter and spicy with the clove and a very small hint of smokyness. The patchouli is definitely there, but doesn’t come across as dominant on my skin. I like coffee notes and don’t get much coffee here, but that’s okay as it’s still a great scent.
As the fragrance dries down it becomes a bit sweeter, even vanillic though there is no vanilla note listed. I let my boyfriend sniff my arm today and he said it smelled like cake. Well, yes, I could imagine a delicious orange cake with spices and dark chocolate glaze to smell like that!
Still it’s not a cloying, sickly food smell and not extremely sweet. It’s a well-blended perfume that smells of more than just the notes I can identify. A warm and beautiful grown up gourmand.
It fits the current Christmas season well with the citrus and clove combo, but I could also imagine it year round, except maybe on hot summer days.
I think this must go on my wishlist.

Direct peach candy and Chocolate mixed with little cardmom and the white flowers make it very acceptable.

Divine, even though the performance is not on par with other Histoires .
Spicy , sweet, sour, rosy, peachy, hints of chcocolate and saffron, it’s a super sexy fragrance that is most definitely feminine. It does resemble the 8 88 from Comme des Garçons , now discontinued, minus the metallic and synthetic notes. Or a much spicier Chinatown , without the powder note.
Glorious , addictive, extremely well blended, moderate to low silage, good lasting power. the jenesaisquoi everybody hopes to have , bottled up. Wear it and expect followers.

Very beautiful fragrance, long lasting. One of those fragrances you do not forget you have it on, but keeps on bringing you joy, long after you applied it. Long lasting on me. Reminds me something of burberry woman, but a little deferent.

What an initial blast of “Oh $#@!. I sprayed this on with about 5 generous spritzs and was in a state of shock for 2-3 minutes. It is patchouli. And it is strong with sweet cloves-peachy rosiness blasting LOUD for a while. Surprisingly, it settles down, warms up and becomes a very lovely and sexy–though also classy patchouli. It wears like a vintage perfume.
I was surprised about that, because I thought with 1969 it would be somehow really skanky and hippie headshop. It’s not. I kept getting a vision of a lady in furs in New York in the winter. Patchouli has always been used in high perfumery and in the vintage scents, and this just has a lovely old-fashioned (and I mean that in a positive sense) feel about it.
What disappoints: the low silage and longevity. This powerhouse which roars in, starts meowing like a kitten within the hour; a few hours later it’s a skin scent or mostly gone, with the occasional surprising waft coming in. I’m trying it in warm weather–so I will attempt again when winter sets in, sans fur.

1969 is the horny version of Dolce Vita. Carnal it truly is. It is 69 for a reason.
An edible rose – peach-sweety on one side, and indian-spicy on the other. Delicious.
There is something in the indian food reminiscence that seem off-balance for a while, but this is actually why i am getting more and more obsessed with this house. HdP always seem to take typical themes with a left-field mind. I love their approach to fragrances. High quality in both materials and concepts.

I do not see “fruit of the sun” listed, as Histoires does mention this as a top note. That’s what it smells like to me on top. Then I get flowers at the mid and the white musk at the base. The other notes are what add complexity which is typical with Histoires.
Another excellent fragrance but this one sits close to the skin. This one leans feminine for me.

1969, or how to remember the timeless classics?
1969 is constructed in three very marked phases:
Top fruity-spicy, the peach very juicy and slightly aldehyde feels sweet and also smoked by the cardamom effect, it soon opens a pink-carnation arrangement, here the clove takes the lead forming a classic carnation arrangement that next to a Pink juicy, fresh and lightly powdered create a very floral and spicy effect very marked and pleasant, very long and pretty floral phase very similar to the basic structure of mythical fragrances such as: L’Air du Temp by Nina Ricci.
Drying with a more modern touch but without losing the classic structure, it extends this spicy-musky stage with an important note of patchouli, chocolate and to a lesser extent a note of coffee.
The patchouli brings a woody note of support, the chocolate that feels like dark chocolate is an extension of the note of rose with a sweet and dry powder hue that goes very well to the drying that makes it diffuse well as if it were a classic body Iris-wood and musk gives a more than good duration to this excellent fragrance.

The first word that came to my mind when I sprayed this was: Woohoo! It’s SPARKLY! On top, it has a very sparkly peachy note, which gets accompanied with rose, chocolate, cardamom, and patchouli; in that order. But certainly, everything here revolves around and are the service of the peach note. I get the clove, 30 minutes in; and at that point, the peach is calming down a bit.
It’s a happy fun fragrance for me and I did not expect that from the name! The only thing this has in common with the given name is the youth vibe! I think it’s a beautiful fragrance for a beautiful young girl, someone who is happy and vibrant but profound and real. There’s nothing shallow about it.
I would happily buy this if the longevity and projection were better but unfortunately for my taste, it’s really weak. I want to be able to smell my fragrance without trying so hard. I can enjoy this scent for a short time only when I’m alone at home and the normal various scents in random spaces, scents of other people and objects, are eliminated. On my skin, the projection is elbow’s length at best and the longevity is only moderate, maybe 3 hours. It’s suitable for the spring and early fall and even summer nights if it’s not crazy hot.
There is a Non-Alcoholic Peach Beer by the Brand ISTAK in my country of origin, Iran, which not only smells but it even tastes 90% like “1969 Parfum de Revolte”. I used to love and drink that a lot when I was an undergraduate student in sociology, roughly 10 years ago! Maybe it’s befitting of a de Revolte, Hah?! Go figure! LOL.

Heavy on chocolate and rose, it’s hard to see past that. Creamy, very warm, the chocolate comes in waves bringing the cardamon and cloves. Faintest reminder of coffee, like just the grounds at the bottom of a glass. Not bad, but not my thing. Reminds me of Angel Muse but less nutty, which is definitely in it’s favor. In fact, this is for me Angel Muse but good. The patchouli helps to keep it down to earth without getting lost. It gets sweeter as it sits from the peach. 6.5/10 ish, pushing both plus and minus for me

Peachy. Chocolatey. Spicy. The entire composition of 1969 revolves around these three themes and while lacking the extra “oomph”, is very well-done.
On paper the opening was a cloud of soft spices and measured fruitiness. The fruit was not too fresh, nor too dried. I most certainly identified the peach aroma along with the cloves. The cardamom was more so to balance between these two other notes than being on stage itself. I like how it began to transition into a rose composition about half an hour in, with spices still lingering around, and eventually became a non-sweetened fruitchouli with hints of chocolate.
If you sniff very closely during the far dry down, you might notice the peach has lost its freshness and smells more like cough medicine. This part I’m not so sure, however if you smell it from afar your probably won’t notice it. The longevity and sillage are both moderate, lasting about 8 hours or so on paper.
Would I like to smell it on others? Certainly. Would I like to try it once in a blue moon? Maybe. Would I buy it? Probably not. But it was quite a pleasant sniff while it lasted.

On paper, I should love this fragrance. All the notes are appealing to me. But together, I am not a fan at all. It just smells like a mistake.

  36. :

1969 is such a puzzle. It doesn’t exactly work as a cohesive fragrance and yet I really enjoy it.
There’s some peach at the start, then it’s a spice rack of clove and cardamon but there are some floral notes there too. The bottom is mochaccino musk.
And maybe the lack of cohesion is the point. As a year in history, 1969 was a lot of things, a lot of change, a lot of discord. This fragrance captures that.

Second review! I love this more as I wear it. My sample vial is almost gone, so of course I got the full bottle. I also discovered something awesome. I will definitely be happy wearing this on its own, but if I ever want to wear this but tone down the sweetness, I pair it with bond no 9 I love new York for marriage equality. The sweet and spicy blends so perfectly well with the dark and smoky and the blend makes both better scents. And it of course lasts all day. Wonderful.

When I was a child, we used to live in Brussel near a chocolate factory, I still remember the smell that invaded the surroundings, cloying, so sweet, nauseating and that said by the chocolate lover I am (simply I can’t spend a week without eating and sometime making a binge eating of some of our wonderful belgian chocolate). But to smear it on my body ? To get whiffs of it mixed with some ripe peach and roses while typing this review ? No thanks, I am gonna stick to my vintage perfumes, chypre, florals, orientals but not like some pastry shop flavour.

Straight forward, uncomplicated candied peach and rose with sheer spices. I personally don’t find the chocolate a dominant note. It’s sweet and edible. A comfort scent. However, not going to be a full bottle for me. I already own, and prefer, Isis by Agonist for this style of lightly spiced and heavily candied fruit.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

This is great fun: juicy peach, chocolate and rose open this – it is just delicious and gourmand in the best way (not laden with sugar syrup). For me, the woods and spices dry down to something that reminds me a lot of Feminité du Bois, although this is an altogether happier scent.
I have had lots of compliments with this one. It doesn’t feel huge but the sillage is obviously good. It does feel like a perfume of two parts: the joyous, juicy opening and the more transparent woody dry down.
I love it, and it works well in almost any environment, but it does not move me the way some fragrances do. That’s what is so hard to pin down, isn’t it: the fragrance that pulls the heart strings?

  46. :

    5 out of 5

The first time I tested this, I almost fell in love. The cloves made for an exotic hot chocolate with some creamy peach. It didn’t last on my skin, though. I gave it another chance. And the chocolate had all but disappeared into a vague spices “have you been baking?” vibe. And then I tried it again. It has fallen firmly into the dislike category for me. Just spices now; and they’re so heavy. It feels like a warm exotic bakery experiment. It’s creamy and smooth; but so thick and heavy, and the tiniest bit synthetic. I just don’t enjoy wearing it.

  47. :

Usually I do not like prominent peach nor chocolate in perfume.
Also, I’m not very much a gourmand fan, nor a fruitchouli one.
But… jtd is right: here is a lesson to be learned.
This is a contemporary classic with a merry and defiant character: playful, sweet and spicy.
If only all revolutions were so beautifully balanced.

I tend not to love fragrances with heavy patchouli, but there were so many other notes in this scent that I tend to like so I figured I’d give it a shot. I’m so glad I only bought a small sample, because the patch is SO strong in here! Combined with the strong rose and fruit notes, all I’m getting is potpourri.

Aromatic, slightly medicinal chocolate on opening. Floral with spicy undertones. Wow, something reminds me of Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers Love; an almost aromatic fruity floral. Oriental… but not, and one of the least gourmandy gourmand’s I’ve smelled. 1969 doesn’t have the rich, heavy sweetness of most orientals/gourmands. I just noticed that someone said this is similar to CdG 2 and omigod yes, it’s like a slightly warmer, spicier version! Stays pretty light during the drydown as well. Like all HdP fragrances well blended and really interesting.

    I miss this one.
I remember the very first time I experienced it. I was so taken by it that I sat down on a lounge nearby the department store and just kept inhaling… the scent was not just a perfume.. it was, as I described, an experience. The rose and the chocolate is like nothing else and if you have a little bit of a bohemian soul or enjoy left field creations, this could please you.
It is an exciting, well balanced, enlivening, delectable scent that I haven’t anything to compare it too as it’s not like any of Ford’s chocolate offerings or any other brand for that matter. It smells like quality and it is.
If you are after something with huge sillage I wouldn’t recommend this.. you’re not going to knock out a room of people. But it gets its point across at a close distance and is a wonderful scent for you and you alone, or when you need to remind yourself of how powerful, wonderful, magical, capable you are.

Bright, airy, fun and crisp. The blood orange(Fruit of the sun) hits you in the face. The initial spray is like cutting into an orange and it squirts you in the face-bam! It’s an eye-opener. Now we’re talking about a perfume that gets your attention. One that takes you out of your space and time. It’s about time.
Coffee and cloves, yes, a bit disconcerting as you read the notes. Cardamom, chocolate, musk and patchouli too? It’s all there. It seems like such a jumbled mix your head spins at first, but then it all comes together to a delightful happiness.
You’re walking down an herbal path of gardens with the Partridge Family hiding in the flowering bushes singing their songs while Jimi and Janis are belting it out in your head. Yeah, this perfume is tripping you down the discordant path of 1969 and it’s all Sunshine happiness. It lasts for hours on end and it’s full-bottle worthy.

I don’t find it naughty or especially “revolte”, it’s just an INCREDIBLY great smelling sophisticated (peachy) patchouli. I was looking for such a perfume a long time already. It soothes my hippie-soul without revealing too much;) my next full bottle.
my husband adores it on me, too.
ps.: I really appreciated the samples-policy on the HDP website. It’s fun, quick and doesn’t cost a fortune…

This is my favorite of the histoires so far in the discovery set I got. It’s sweet and fruity, but powdery and coffee/chocolate scented at the same time. It’s the most mature sweet fruity scent I’ve ever tried, and one spray of this takes over my nose. I look forward to testing this out more. As of right now, if I had to pick 1 bottle to buy, this would be it.

Patchouli is a difficult note for me. A little bit adds perfect spice, but too much leads straight into hippie hell. With a name like 1969, I was apprehensive, but this perfume is actually an amazingly well-balanced composition. I don’t think it’s too sweet at all – rather, it’s a collection of very realistic peach, chocolate, and dry patchouli harmonising surprisingly well. Yes, it IS sweet, but not cloyingly so. It shares very, very little DNA with Angel, and I see that as a good thing. After eight hours, it is close to the skin, but there’s still a pleasant woody-chocolate note there. Love it.

Just received this…I know I have smelled this somewhat before!!??!. So, what is it? Etra by Etro. 1969 has a very sweet yet tangy musk to it. I really like this…some have mentioned this to be overtly sweet, I would disagree.
This is one of those fragrances that you need to give a few minutes to before judgment. At first spray, yes you’d detect sweetness, florals, however, that is in the very front. Once you allow the fragrance to settle, you get a drydown that is out of this world!! Men don’t shy away (I didn’t, since I have a bottle)due to the reviews read….this fragrance is not too sweet that a man could not wear. Quite unisex, in fact IMHO I think it smells really nice on me!! By the way, this does hint at Loccitane’s Eau Des Bavx, the drydown is very reminiscent, however only the hint of a similarity. I, personally, am not a fan of Eau Des Bavx but I am a fam of this!! Nice.

I think that I want this one. Very light and sweet. Seems like an easy one that could be worn at anytime place etc. Its funny though because with the first sniff it reminded me a bit of the first harajuku love. Does anyone else get that or is it just me?

I am looking at my empty box of incense by “1969 Histoires de Parfums.” These were 24 batons of incense.
All gone. Does anyone, know where I can get this product. It is not their liquid scent, but their incense. It was originally bought in Paris, I believe.
    Thanks.

I have no idea what went wrong between 1969 and my nose, but to me this perfume smells like canned peaches (or possibly brandied peaches)… and window cleaner.

Déçue par ce parfum pour lequel j’avais pourtant eu un coup de coeur au début: fruité et puissant à la manière d’un bon armagnac. Malheureusement, la fougue du début a laissé la place à l’ennui faute de subtilité et d’âme.

1969 Opens with a lot of sweetness. First, a load of juicy fruity notes. I smell peach and white floral notes. Then the scent turns darker. A dark mix of coffee chocolate comes through. I also smell a sweet light rose at this point, combined with white floral notes. Still quite sweet. The cardamom and clove start to appear now, serving as a counterweight for all the sweetness. There is still a lot of peach in there. Next one up is a white musk. Then, the perfume changes again. The rose becomes less prominent, but the base of this coffee chocolate note gets a bit stronger, together with a bit of patchouli. Still plenty of peach throughout, also in the drydown.
Performance is good: sillage is moderate to heavy, longevity moderate to long.
Strange scent. Ridiculously sweet, lovely spicy, and that coffee chocolate note is awesome. Never thought I would like a gourmand so much! It is deliciously fruity. The warmer it is, the more coffee chocolate I get from this scent. I am not sure how this one does in winter, but I have been seduced in buying a full bottle for summertime!

I have avoided gourmands until I tried this house. I then blind bought two HdP on the reviews and am so pleased. I did not know what to expect (I was so hoping nothing like Angel, nothing like any of those fruitchoulis that are so popular now) This is not as gourmand as I thought it would be, but am not disappointed as many I have tried have fallen short in a not so good way (too sweet, too short-lived, too powerful, etc)…this is just perfect. The balance of the peach, the patch and the chocolate is excellent. It lasts a fair while on me too, being quite strong, but it is never overpowering like say La Vie Est Belle and Angel can be. I usually avoid musk too, but this is what keeps it all in balance with the s
