This is a lovely, unoffensive, clean scent that is completely unisex. It is clean and fresh without being soapy.
On me the tea is most prominent followed by a hint of floral with a bit of warmth, appropriate for office, any time of day or year. Someone mentioned a Santa’s workshop feel, but for me, it is more of a sunny day with no hurry kind of feel, probably because the wood tones don’t make much of an appearance on me.
Unfortunately, with a close spray to each wrist, the projection is low after 15 minutes and is almost a skin scent an hour later. I am likely to use this more liberally as a body spray on a hot summer day, which may not be worth it for the expense.

The Sum’s firs trio of fragrances was interesting and so I was happy to try the fourth, The Mauve. The website for this officially lists only three notes: tea leaves, fresh lavender, and oak, and I imagine this is called The Mauve mainly due to the inclusion of lavender.
The Mauve is fresh, woody, and relaxing, as one would expect with the lavender, oak, and tea, respectively, so it’s a nice, well-rounded blend that’s refreshing enough for warm weather but interesting enough for cold weather.
Projection is a little disappointing, as I would certainly like to wear this and would consider buying at a higher level of performance. At $85 for 30ml EDP, though, like the other fragrances in the line, this falls into the category of being good but not good enough to buy.

This made me light-headed. Instantly…I sniffed and sniffed until I could take in no more oxygen! This to me…and it LOVES ME…is Santa’s workshop full of elves carving little wooden statuettes. I don’t know HOW this wood smell comes about…if it be chemical or boiled tree? This is breathtaking.
I find this to be extremely masculine and still…I find Heidi and the grandfather could both easily be pleasant wearing this scent. So from sweet child to old mountain man, this is a natural and lovely smell for ALL!
I could wear this every day for the rest of my life…and not tire of it. You can NOT go wrong with this. You’d have to hate the smell of wood…period.
I will wear this over the holidays to test strength and longevity which seems to be at least average!

Received my sample today of the MAUVE…..It is truly an awesome scent !!! Full bottle worthy for me. I can “get” the TEA part of it for sure…and minimal, ot over-whelming lavender…and the woodiness-ish too.The info card I got with the sample also mentions: sterling silver as a note….???… I guess that is it’s metallic edge.I also received a sample of The Black, which is a leather-type scent, to my nose.Really liking this line so far !!!

I was able to pester the owner of The Sum into letting me snag an early release bottle and because he’s an awesome dude, he obliged. But seriously, the longevity of this barbershop-type of scent is killer. Silage/projection are a tad over average, in my opinion. Even if this fragrance only lasted 2 hours, the scent itself is so good that it’d still be full bottle worthy. After all, we buy fragrances to wear and enjoy, so spray away!
