Description

Issey Miyake presented Nuit d’Issey Eau de Toilette for men in 2014, as a flanker of L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme fragrance from 1994. In October 2015, Nuit d’Issey Parfum, the enhanced and more intensive version, is launched.

Magnetic, mysterious and vivid composition that evokes dark night opens with accords of grapefruit and pink pepper. Leather and vanilla in the heart give an elegant touch to the composition. The rich and textured base consists of tonka bean absolute and patchouli.

It is available in bottles of 75 ml Eau de Parfum.

@Tyriel Because both have “Nuit” in its name.

It’s just me and my skin, but it smells very faint 🙁 I received today the 125 ml edp. I tried it earlier in the local shop and not was so weak, maybe it was the eau de toilette version.
The perfume is fresh at first (about 5 minutes) and quickly comes the dry incense part which is nice and calm. On me sits close to the skin and lasts about 4 hours. I need more projection and longer time with top notes.
Update: Yes, the edt is greener, fresher and stronger in sillage, so I suck with the edp

I’ve worn this for a few days and feel I understand this fragrance now- ready for a review.
Issey Miyake’s signature citrus gets a cameo in the opening and then disappears after a few minutes. What remains for the duration is a predominantly tonka/leather fragrance, rendered deep and complex by the patchouli and pepper. The patchouli in this does not dominate like it often does in other fragrances. It’s in the background, providing an earthy, dark, slightly sweet backdrop for the other notes-truly a “night” scent. Very nicely blended. Performance is ok, not amazing, and doesn’t really radiate out very far. I appreciate that this is not loud or cloying- no need to go easy on the trigger. I wear it to work with no fear of being “cologne guy” or overpowering the room. Of course, this would excel if worn on an evening out.
I love Issey Miyake fragrances for their quality and class, and Nuit EDP is no exception. I get a hint of the original Nuit d’Issey in this (which I also love), but this variant takes us even deeper into the night.

Seductive is a good word for this one. Reminds me of hugo by hugo boss, a bit darker, more spicy. Has some special smell that lingers, rank, dank, odd, almost reminds me of something that a woman secretes in private places that I shall not speak of.

A sweeter version of the EDT. The leathery sweetness combined with the original spicy formula gives this Parfum version a vibe similar to that of Paco Rabbane’s 1 Million. For this reason, I prefer the EDT version & I appear to be among the vast majority given how the EDT’s popularity exceed that of the Parfum.
Nonetheless, A good perfume worthy of a try especially to those who like the EDT & 1 Million.

This is a very seductive scent. Women go crazy for this one, as it is wayy smoother than the EDT.
It opens with a sharp, almost bitter grapefruit, which smells great in my opinion, but fades pretty quick. About 5-10 minutes after the first spray, the patchouli/leather start to reveal themselves over that amazing, refined base of incense. The incense in this produces one of the best and unique smokey accords–I visualize hot magma seeping into the cold ocean when I smell this accord.
The patchouli and tonka add balance to this fragrance. Without either one, this would be a mess of a smell. They help to amplify the smokey incense while adding depth to the overall feel.
The performance is better than average, but not crazy like one may expect. This is meant to sit closer to the skin as opposed to being “beast-mode”.
All in all, I would recommend this fragrance to those who are not brand new to fragrances. For the discerned noses, I think you’ll be very pleased. This scent is way more refined than the EDT.
    8.5/10
EDIT: The more I wear this stuff, the more I like it. I’m boosting my rating to a 9.5/10.

The EDT is one of my Top 5 scents, hands down. Finally, I got the opportunity to smell the EDP last night…
At first, I thought it smelled just like the EDT. Then I realized, there’s much less grapefruit in the beginning, and also the texture is different.
Some would call it spicier due to the increased patchouli and pink pepper, although the spice is less pronounced and smoother to your nose. It has more spices that give it a smoother texture, if that makes any sense. Basically, if scents were sandpaper, the EDT would be like 120 grit sandpaper whereas the EDP would be 600 grit sandpaper.
In the EDP, the sweetness is the same, the woody notes are a bit lighter, and the incense is heavier, or at least, it’s more pronounced. The EDT has more character thanks to the heavier grapefruit, but that’s likely what people complain about making it “screechy”, and the EDP is more smooth and generic like La Nuit de L’Homme with smokier ingredients, or like Bleu De Chanel EDP’s base notes without the lemon.
Both are amazing! I think when I start running low on the EDT, I’ll purchase the EDP, but I could potentially justify having both. Basically, the bottom line is: The difference between the EDT and EDP is equivalent to the difference between Bleu De Chanel EDT and EDP.

There are some similarities with Lancome Hypnose for men, but I prefer this one more.

you can wear it casually during the daytime … pretty versatile, not only for winter/fall… good for springtime and for summer as well – but maybe for evening/night

it´s perfect to spray it on a coat or a suit … lasts long and reminds La Nuit powdery soothing vibe

    whoa… strong!
love it from opening to dry down.
reminds of la nuit de l’homme but not as sweet. tends to be a little more powdery.
all in all its a great scent. longevity is awesome and im talking 12+ hours with about 5-6 of nice projection.
overall rating for me is 9/10
the scent, longevity, and projection are all above average.
    2 sprays max!!!

more subtle, a bit powdery/aromatic patchouli vibe
i´m glad it doesn´t smell generic or just fresh …
this is more gentleman-ish frag, although not overly strong it´s good and pleasant
i like it in winter times(even for fall and spring), not boozy, not overpowering,
    gentle

A richer and deeper version of the original …where the original i’s good at projecting and has a excellent dry down this one sits closer from the start but lasts a long time and has a bit more of the dusty patchouli element. ..very hippy clothes and pipe’s shop incense. 10 hrs performance on my skin.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

Kudos to those that getting great performance but for me it has very little sillage and lasted a maximum of 4 hours today. I tested it in house and did not go outside so no elements played a factor. I basically got some mild leather and patchouli with a hint of sweetness. It smells ok but not full bottle worthy in my case. If you are thinking about blind buying please don’t and sample it first as it might not perform as well on your skin as on some of the other reviewers.

There’s a reason why you haven’t seen anyone compare this to Armani Code Profumo, and that’s because they couldn’t be more different. How on earth you smell this and find them similar is completely beyond me

  16. :

Wow, smell so… manly with dark tone. Great fragrance, I like it

I havent seen anybody mention ut but this reminds me of Armani code Prafumo..so if you like that then this is a cheaper alternative.

I’m wearing this today as the weather continues to cool down and Fall is in the air. This is a beautiful, sexy, underrated fragrance. You hear very little about it, but this is quality juice, beautifully blended and sexy as hell.
It is not loud, the patchouli is softened by the tonka bean, and the leather and vanilla elements make this a luxurious and subtle scent. It is elegant and fairly long-lasting.
Finally – I sniffed this before I sniffed the EDT (which I smelled for the first time). They are quite different scents. To my nose, this is better.

    Imagine the original Nuit d’Issey.
    Now imagine it deeper..richer..
That’s how Nuit d’Issey parfum smells like.
A flanker that stays true to the original Nd’I & adds just the right amount of twist.
Not enough twist to own them both at the same time, but alternate between them.

I’ve picked up a bunch of new fragrances…YSL Ultime, Bond No.9 Bleecker Street, Atelier Vetiver Fatal….and this.
All I have to say, is that this is very nice. This is a sexy, warm fragrance. The patchouli is definitely there, but it is rounded out by the tonka bean and vanilla. Perfect for going out at night, going on a date, etc.

I ordered this magnificent fragrance about 2 weeks ago, and oohhhh what a pleasant surprise this was/is ! When I first applied it at about 5am one morning for the first time, I went to work. Keep in mind that I’m an auto worker,so I don’t have an opportunity to sit around… I’m constantly moving around. I received compliments from men and women. (but the ‘women’ part is what I liked the most!). I’m mentioning this to say how well it performed on me under sweaty conditions, and that higher humidity was a factor. Anyway, later that evening when I returned I had numerous errands to run, and ended up going to bed w/out a shower (sorry). But showered the next morning and there it still was – I could still smell the wonderful NDI. Longevity is incredible on me. And I’m not sure about anyone else, but this fragrance behaves on me the same way LIDGE does. Maybe a little brighter in the beginning, but nowhere near what LIDG is, because LIDG in comparison to this is way too bitter. This gives you a dry, dusty anise type feel but with contrasting moist and thick vanilla and tonka bean absolute (as listed). Don’t get me wrong. ..the vanilla part(for those who think vanilla can be too feminine) is very minimal. To me this leans more to the masculine side rather than feminine. But guys – you know some females will discover it, so try and get it before they do.
I’ll probably get 1 or 2 backup bottles before anyone gets a notion to (or is forced to) reformulate.
The sprayer is fantastic with a fine mist, so application is controllable when discretion is used.
Lastly, thanks for taking time to read my humble take on this great gem. Based on performance and longevity, I’m giving it 10/10…especially for the last 12 hrs of the drydown.

Imagine a quite night with full moon reflecting its light on the calm lake .
The god of night arrives down from heavens to the lake. The perfume he will be wearing is this one. It is sensual, sexy and a nightly passion.

I thought it had tobacco at its heart, such is the blend. I find the EDT a little thick/dank, and green – in contrast the parfum version is much less thick, and perhaps even more wearable. I want this one bad. Delicious!
    Have a great day!

thank bleep, this is much better than edt. smells almost bubblegummy but without excessive sweetness. much rounder and softer fragrance than any other miyake, but still without any sweetness and warmth. i don’t detect vanilla but patchoully all around and some woody bitterness way in the background, i do.
i could wear it, but it’s nothing mind blowing.

Having the edt and the Austral ldt edt in
my collection i just had to buy this, and
i am not dissapointed at all, this feels like
the two others combined in to a more complete
scent, as an edp it has a more quality to it
than the edt ones, if you liked nuit you
will propably like this one too, great smell
    and very nice for Autumn/Winter.

Nuit d’issey is an enjoyable scent
This is my first perfume where patchouli dominates. And to my surprise my nose can barely tell the difference between this great perfume and some other VETIVER fragances I have such as Carven and Guerlain.
It opens up citrusy and with a bit of patience you can get the grapefruit. After a couple of minutes I get a bit of spicy kick.
After a little while the Patchouli takes over as green as ever but at the end of your sniff a bit of sweet shows up probably from vanilla.
I enjoy this fragance in much the same way I enjoy Carven Vetiver or Guerlain Vetiver.

Smells like a diluted version from Fakat lil Rijal from Rasasi’s perfume house. Patchouli and moist leather are dominating. It Only lacks character, strength and longevity in comparison to Rasasi’s. Sillage is moderate. 3 Sprays on the back of my Hand did last for 4 hours before it became a very faint skin scent. I am dissapointed as I am a huge fan of the Edt version. The bottle is the same sad tastless repetition of Issey’s usual!
    Nuit D’issey Parfum: 5/10

Much much nicer than the edt which I don’t really like so far. This is a big like! 🙂
It’s full bodies, not fruity, not sour, kinda thick, a bit sweet, dark and round.
However, not exactly unique, it reminds me of another fragrance which I can’t recall yet.
    Recommended!
And it’s also available in 125ml.

Funny enough, I saw this today at a pharmacy, strange seeing it there so I grabbed it.
Very dirty patchouli note with a nice tonka bean note, I do get the leather undertone also.
The pink pepper is viable also, unfortunately I barely get a grapefruit or vanilla note.
I really like this after a couple of minutes once the dirty patchouli note calms down a little.
Very well made, I dig this.
Projects well and I sense this will last 5-6 hours plus
