Description

Many remember Choc de Cardin perfume by designer Pierre Cardin as an intense chypre composition. It was launched in 1981, followed by its 1990 refreshing flanker Choc de Cardin Eau Tonique. In accordance with the new trends and generations, a new version named Miss Choc is presented in 2012.

Miss Choc is designed as an intriguing aroma and delicate composition which is to emphasize femininity and sensuality. The composition is floral – fruity, opening with juicy accords of mandarin and sour cherries. Flowers of rose and jasmine are located in the heart, while the base consists of warm tones of sandalwood and musk.

The fragrance is available as 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

This has been available at my local supermarket for about a month and being a fan of several Cardin fragrances, I couldn’t resist testing it. I did so 4-5 times, so I think I can review it.
Floral-fruity ? Yes, but in my opinion, there is definitely an aquatic vibe to it too.
Indeed,it reminds me of L’eau d’Issey and YR Ming Shu. Don’t know if it is some kind of olfactory illusion I am experiencing, because they don’t seem to have even just a few notes in common..
I am very curious to learn whether other reviewers agree with me on this point.
Anyway, this belongs to the family of delicate, airy, fresh, rosy and romantic scents that the vast majority of people find very pleasant but on the other hand not special.
The cherry top note is trendy and youthful, but I am afraid I am terribly bored with “red fruits/berries notes”. I was not fond of them to begin with, and so many fragrance houses jumped on that bandwagon (I am not sure but I think it was Givenchy Hot Couture that set the trend )that there are days when I feel I am just fed up with them.
Well, I suppose the same happenned with aldehydes during the fifties and sixties, or with chypre base notes in the seventies.
Having said that, I do think a rather generic fresh fruity floral should be a staple in every fragrance wardrobe (unless you truly dislike them), because sometimes you just feel like smelling fresh and pretty and find your intriguing, statement making scents not appropriate.
That is why I might buy this one later on next summer ( clearly a spring and summer scent). It sells for 15€, so even if I don’t reach for it regularly, at least I won’t have to worry about wasted money.
As far as longevity is concerned, it is very good, even on skin.
