-And, yes I have the bottle, but it is empty.

Man, I really miss this perfume! It was SO 1980’s (think big, bold , bright and sweet). It was the perfect companion to giant shoulder pads. Kate Walsh’s “Billionaire Boyfriend” is a close resemblance, but it is all Screech with no Sweetness. I thought the memory was lost forever, until I found Jil Sander’s “Sun” – another late ‘80’s bombastic masterpiece and close, CLOSE clone to “Forever Krystle .” DYNASTY LIVES!

Forever krystle was so delicious warm embracing and beautiful! One day I bought a Gucci eau de parfum Brown box as a blind buy and I was mesmerized by the comparison, to me both are so so similar and mind you I have both, their like fraternal twins just amazing… And both unfortunately discontinued but you can still buy on eBay but brace yourselves lol
Billionaire Boyfriend hmm maybe but to me billionaire boyfriend is fruity and Forever Krystle is not fruity at all.
    Love you Forever Krystle!

very soapy in the top then candied violet and iris to me then HEAVY musk, maybe castoreum, not civet; remains sweet, reminds of Guerlain, a little like Liu but not as fizzy or sharp; not a chypre; base is CIVET; love this one

“My darling Krystle I had this fragrance created especially for you. I think it’s as beautiful as you are. Every time you wear it remember I love you forever”
Forever Krystle is an underrated and gorgeous vintage classic from the 1980’s, which, unfortunately, is harder to find right now than the truth in fake news! This was one of my all time favorite 80’s ladies perfumes. I thought it was suited to a young woman in her 20’s, though. I wore it at the same time as LE JARDIN by Max Factor which I’ll review next time. This was advertised on TV on a commercial starring Linda Evans & John Forsythe in their respective characters Krystle & Blake from the hit TV drama Dynasty. There were 2 fragrances formulated by a nose from Charles of the Ritz, a now defunct company. The other was Blake’s cologne made by Krystle for Blake! This one was such a gorgeous floral fragrance. It stood out amongst other 1980’s women’s perfumes because it was simple, delicate, not very complex, linear without any real oomph and or razzle dazzle. It was not an Oriental with incense and patchouli or woods, not a chypre, nothing but a simple airy sweet perfume made up of flowers and a dry down of musk.
The bottle was very pretty and made of glass. It looks and smells terribly outdated by today’s standards but that’s why I love it. The scent is suited for both day wear and evening wear. It has a fresh cool citrusy opening, an orange blossom and mimosa with aldehydes. The orange flower and mimosa also smell like vanilla. There’s definitely more going on here than they are saying because I smelled either marigold or ylang ylang. I pick up on a yellow floral vibe. There’s a dominant note of rose, a powdery rose, not a realistic green floral or dewy rose. It has an identifiably female aroma. Smells like ladies who smell of roses at Church or dinner parties. The rose I think is what makes this so old fashioned. It’s not too different from rose perfumes that I remember smelling on other women even before the 80’s. Soapy, powdery, domestic roses. It smells like a hotel bathroom toilet water or soap, but that’s not a bad thing.
There is no white florals in it and I would say that the mimosa and rose are beautifully paired up. Even as such, the citrusy smell, or rather a citrus floral scent, is so invigorating and “green” without being oily that it makes me feel pumped up for the day. This was a perfume to wear when you wanted to smell good throughout your day. The longevity is decent although I had to re apply many times because it faded every 2 hours or so. It could have had more notes I guess. The dry down is musky with a lingering citrus and orange flower smell almost exactly like Obsession For Women by Calvin Klein. There is also a slight sort of nod to Miss Dior the original. It’s just a pretty basic citrus floral when it comes down to it. But I love it. So refreshing, sweet and aromatic. As it relates to DYNASTY I would say that yes it does match up with the personality and character of Krystle. She is feminine, sweet, with a good heart and a love of hard work, although with a maturity and fighting spirit when needed. She is a heroine. As it is sweet and dignified, it is the total opposite of the more glamorous, showy, extravagant and powerful aroma of her rival, Blake’s ex Alexis Carrington (Joan Collins) as one can smell in Joan Collins’ 2 fragrances Spectacular and I Am Woman. When compared to those 2 scents, Forever Krystle is a very simple little house flower.
I had this in my collection for the longest time and unfortunately the scent does tend to turn bad over the years. It’s not a perfume that was meant to endure the changing times. When the liquid sticks to the bottle and the perfume itself is gone, it smells like vanilla. This was a simple boudoir scent. One can visualize Krystle putting it on, slipping into a lingerie, a pink nightgown and waiting for Blake to come home to the mansion and to her bedroom. He would not be able to resist her charms and her fragrance. The sweet orange flower and rose smell so intoxicating and pretty. I love it! My husband never smelled this on me but I had an older college professor paramour at the time (when I was an art student) that found this fragrance to be so tempting and provocative. I have fond memories of this perfume and I will cherish them always.

I’m reviewing the pure parfum version of this. It’s in a similar vein to Obsession except it has a more complex aroma to it. It captures the image of Krystle from Dynasty very well. It doesn’t even seem to smell old fashioned to me.

From what I remember, the first time I experienced Angel, I thought…”Krystle” from the 80’s! Not sure if they really smell similar, since it’s been so long… but this is exactly what I thought of.
Either way, loved Krystle and love Angel! Enjoy.

I happened across a little mini of this one, and am sampling it now. It is MUCH more-complicated than the notes listed above would suggest- the sweet, honey-drenched, mimosa-dominant floral blend is contrasted nicely with cinnamon and… perhaps angelica? The base definitely has a touch of civet adding its slight, animalic skank to the musk-amber blend, and I think I am also sensing opopanax. Reminds me a bit of Obsession on the drydown. Such a beautiful composition! Shame it was discontinued- it really is so elegant and lovely.

Well I have Joan Collins (Alexis from Dynasty) Spectacular and I Am Woman fragrances so I thought I’d go on a vintage fragrance hunt and find Krystle, Alexis’ rival perfume. This fragrance is very hard to find but thanks to a good perfumista vintage collector’s help I was able to track one down to a warehouse in New Jersey. Forever Krystle opens with aldehydes they feel like those kind of moderate aldehydes that you spritz on from a newer Chanel fragrance which for the 80’s was a modern touch. The aldehydes are freshened with bergamot citrus notes. It’s refreshing and for some reason makes me think of Krystel coming out of her shower and she’s not alone, now I’m seeing Patrick Duffy in there with her the same Patrick Duffy who was in the famous shower scene in Dallas. For whatever reason this is giving me a shower fresh after shower vibe. It’s sexy it’s old fashioned and perfumy. This is something for a very feminine-down-to-her bones woman to put on just after a bath or shower in her boudoir. The mimosa is sweet and orange scented and it harmonizes with the rose which smells like a pink rose. Sweet florals. The flowers are there through the end but the dry down is a warm sort of animalic accord of musk or possibly even a subdued civet. This is a floral musky fragrance to wear for romantic dates in the evening. I love the TV commercial for this fragrance and it does smell like something for a married woman to wear. I don’t presume that only married women or even mature older women should wear this. This is a vintage frag and smells great but I see it as perfect for floral fragrance lovers. This is bigger on mimosa than it is rose too so you gotta love mimosa. And true to the nature of Krystle this smells sophisticated and elegant but sweet and nice, as far from stronger scents that evoke a bolder seductress like Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion. This is very nice. I love it. Thank you Fragrantica now I can wear this out on a date and smell like the sexiest sweetest 1980’s woman ever.

Elph, Would it smell different if it were a 20 year old wearing this and sitting down with a cup of earl grey?

My mother wore this for a time. Holy cow, is the sillage ever heavy with this stuff. It is a very powdery scent with a strong undercurrent of bergamot. Imagine your grandma sitting down to a nice cup of Earl Grey. That is what this smells like.

This was my mother’s favorite fragrance of all time. Ever. Without question. She was so unhappy when we could not find it anymore. Now she is wearing White Diamonds, which she gets a lot of compliments on.
I wish that Krystle was available again, but that’s pretty unlikely. If it were available, I would buy it again for sure.

I had this in the body spray. I can remember it sitting on my dresser. It was a lovely soft powdery scent 🙂 Brings me back to my childhood.

I can’t remember what it smells like but I do remember wearing it for a short while. My husband bought me a limited edition crystal bottle of it with the edition number etched in it. The number of my bottle is 1241 and it’s never been opened.

Sweet, ambery and very loud- how I love this stuff! It reminds me just a little of Obsession, but not as obviously sexual.Best worn on a cold day, a little behind your knees might be enough. I have a couple of small bottles and since one spray is plenty, this should last a good long while. Someone has formulated a pretty good dupe as well, which is reassuring as this fragrance is hard to find. Long lasting, one spray should give me a little smile throughout the entire day. This one is in my top 10 of all time and I should wear it more often!

I bought b bottle of this when it came out. I was such a fan of “Dynasty”, I rarely missed watching it when it came on. I remembered Linda Evans from her “Big Valley” days with Lee Majors & the great Barbara Stanwyck. I sometimes still watch episodes of that one on the Inspirational Channel. Linda was Krystle. And I love Charles of Ritz fragrances so I thought this one would be good for me, too.
I sure was so disappointed with this fragrance. It was a floral that became somewhat sweet on me & I didn’t want that. I liked it ok, but I never did buy another one. It smelled so much better on my then sister-in-law.

There was a time in the 80s when I thought this and Lauder’s Beautiful were the most amazing scents that money could buy. Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I found myself riding a wave of nostalgia and purchasing a vintage bottle of Forever Krystle on eBay. For those of you who don’t know, this perfume was named after the character Krystle Carrington, played by the lovely Linda Evans in the supersoap that was Dynasty.
Rather than be transported back to the 80s I found myself surprised at just how linear this is. It has almost no depth at all. It just seems like amber, a bit of musk and some vanilla. It doesn’t really evolve at all and just becomes a weaker version of itself as the day wears on. But it does last a long time and I could smell it while I was outing my clothes in the washing machine.
What did strike me is the quality of the packaging and the bottle. The glass is really thick and it sprays nicely. I’m somewhat dismayed that even the high end perfumes now use plastic stoppers instead of glass, and are lighter in weight than they used to be. The presentation is very high for what was then a fragrance available at K-Mart.
I also have to say that I’ve seen some recent interviews with Linda Evans and I’m equally dismayed that she has ventured into cosmetic surgery with not entirely successful results. It actually upset me a bit. She was so gorgeous in the 80’s – a true icon of fashion and beauty at the time. Maybe you just had to be there.
I recently discovered an interview she did with Rachael Ray. They had a perfume challenge for Linda to see if she could pick Forever Krytstle from a range of other celebrity scents. As far as I can remember this was the first really popular celebrity perfume(I think Zsa Zsa Gabor’s “Zig Zag” in 1949 was the first ever) and it set the standard for celebrity perfumes: kind of bland, no particularly distinguishable notes except a large amount of vanilla and loud. I love loud perfumes(it hurts my feelings when people pick on Tabu!)but this is too loud even for me. That said it holds up quite well for an 80’s fume. It seems to have suffered the fate that most celebrity perfumes suffer: when the celebrity becomes passe, so does the perfume. It smells better than many that have outlasted it.

I wore this in college! What a flashback. If I remember correctly (and this was MANY, MANY years ago, it had a warm, ambery, musky floral scent. I loved it.

I just bought some off of ebay. There was more there too. I used to wear it years ago too and then I forgot about it. Good luck finding it.

I just came across a vintage splash bottle of this in EdT form. I must admit that it seems to have suffered oxidation, and I fear the bergamot note has lost some of its freshness. After a few seconds of the ‘alcohol’ note, a heart of plasticky vanilla rose atop a synthetic resin comes through. The musk makes an appearance after about 15 minutes. I do not see vanilla in the notes, but I am sure it is there. The scent is fairly simple, and linear in nature. Not a complex or symphonic perf. I can see where it would be well-loved by those who wore it, “Forever Krystle” has good and identifiable sillage and longevity. This is most certainly a drugstore frag by nature (many of which I love!), even if it was sold in department stores.

I wore Krystle for 24 years and am so sad not to be able to get it anymore.
But,hey,Sweetlady, I just smelled a new perfume in a magazine. It is called Halle, and I put it on my hand and it reminds me strongly of Krystle! I will have to get some and try it.

I used to wear this fragrance long ago. Just before Christmas I remembered it, but I couldn’t recall the name. Finally I remembered the name. I have scoured many perfume sites trying to find it, but it is no longer available. Does anyone else remember this scent? Do you know of anything else like it?
In the mean time I have purchased many other new scents which (most of them) I love!
Can I say how much I LOVE this site?!?!?! It is FANTASTIC! So much information. I’ve been looking for a site with descriptions and reviews. I could read this stuff for days.
Thank you for the great website.
(I think I’m addicted to fragrances)
