This is a lovely scent, but ridiculously weak. I prefer subtle scents but I can’t even smell that I am wearing this unless I have my skin pressed up to my nose. A shame, but I can’t justify a full bottle for this reason.

Clair de Musc starts with soft cheerful sweetness and soapy muskiness. Later on the wave of soapiness calms down and the fragrance stays softly sweet and musky. This is a very easy to like perfume, but also overpriced for what it is.

Clair de Musc is very linear with a slight dirty musk that is enveloped in soapy notes. It has some powdery and floral elements floating through it. When I smell it I think of an era I wasn’t born yet, to me it evokes a woman in the 1900’s.

    SO PRETTY!
I’m not really a musk lover but this is how ethereal ,powdery coolly floral musk is mean to be. It’s like delicate lace of a musk, nothing skanky or urinelike( my biggest problem with musk is that ” tomcat urine” note. I get that in too many musks Ive tried). I can imagine this musk giving off billowing marshmallow clouds of sweetness. This could be mistaken for a Chanel as I’m familiar with those more than Serge Lutens other scents, there’s a powdery undertone like it #5 perfume or #19 Poudre.
I have a feeling this one will get lots of compliments and my partner will love it. Could be worn any season if applied lightly. I think this is the best feminine musk I’ve come across. Yes it’s unisex and that’s fine but to my nose it’s girlie and pretty.
You skank lovers can keep your dirty Muscs de Kubla Khan lol I like this beauty.

Clair de Musc’s musk accord isn’t as much like Muscs Koublai Khan’s as Fleur de Citronnier’s is. It’s ‘cleaner’ and higher pitched and has the hallmarks of the ‘white’ musks: soap, sweetness and soft-cuddliness. But here’s also where you’ll find Clair de Musc’s resemblance to Muscs Koublai Khan. Muscs Koublai Khan has just enough cleanliness to it to make you realize how dirty it is. The honeyed rose creates a feeling of purity that gets completely run over by the bawdiness of the the musk. If there is a narrative of innocence lost embedded in the perfume, the story is told in about as long as it takes to say, “Wow. Innocence lost.”
Clair de Musc tips the balance way in the other direction. The clean musk accord aims to cover any errant animalism but every now and again something unclean pops through. The scent of scalp, a whiff of armpit. It makes you realize this perfume isn’t about cleanliness. It’s about hygiene not quite holding its own against the scent of the human body. Remember the story of the first use of historical eaux like Eau de Cologne and Florida Water? They were for covering up the funk of unwashed bodies. Clair de Musc gives you that experience without you ever having to have a funky body yourself.
Some of the best musk perfumes are a variation on the idea, though perfumes like Kiehl’s Musk No 1, Amouage Gold Man and Les Nereides Fleur Poudrée de Musc all land much further in the funk than Clair de Musc. The perpetual resurfacing of bodily scents emphasizes the degree of restraint needed to keep from falling into the indulgence of the flesh. There’s a sexiness to the perfume that’s easy to miss if it’s not your bag.
From the angle of 2018 Clair de Musc is an interesting alternative to the trend in women’s perfumery toward dull white musky drydowns. The perfume’s musk notes are more detailed than the default pillowy basenotes built into so many mainstream florals.

Smell very powdery like baby powder. The longevity is excellent up to 10 hours! It smells good, but it’s very expensive for a baby powder’s fragrance.

What a dreamy, sweet, pretty perfume! And here I thought I didn’t like musk. I agree with xrayer, that it’s reminiscent of No. 5 Eau Premiere. It has more musk, and is not as high maintenance, a cross between the Chanel and Jovan Musk, without the latter’s moldy, mustiness. It’s 5EP after she gets home, kicks off her heels, puts on a fluffy soft robe and cuddles her puppy. Very clean calm and comforting. I could see this being a solid signature fragrance or a first perfume. Ageless and timeless.

    On skin
This is exactly what I thought I was looking for: a warm, slightly spicy musc that holds very close to the skin. And yet it doesn’t excite me.
Edit: I wore it a few more times and only got a plain non spicy light musk. It doesn’t turn soapy or powdery on me, which is unique, but it turns out I don’t like plain musks!

I never thought it would happen, but this is the first musk perfume I’ve ever fallen in love with. It’s so beautifully blended, the iris, the touch of citrus in the top notes. This is a masterpiece in my eyes.
Projection and sillage are impressive by other musk dominated perfume standards, but it’s still only moderate with 3-6 hours before it dies down to a skin scent. But I still love this, and would proudly wear it on my skin.

OMG…where have you been all my life? This is absolutely gorgeous, musky, clean and clear…it reminds of my beloved No 5 eau premiere. I have recently developed a love affair with musks and have snapped up a few NR…this is going on my to-buy list.

You’re naked, in a stream, slowly lathering yourself with a bar of Ivory soap. You’re absorbed into yourself, the world has disappeared, and there is only you and your skin. Pure, crisp, clear. Clair de Musc by Serge Lutens.

This smells like high quality bar soap, powder and skin. It made me think of Chanel no 5 but lighter. I absolutely love this one. It’s the kind of scent that feels like a white silk blouse. Soft and light, feminine and works with anything and is always appropriate. It has a vintage feel to it like something that woud have been worn by women in the 20s and 30s.lovely

Powdery violet aldehyde. Smells similar to Dove soap and light pink blush powder. Clean, simple. Clings close to the skin.
EDIT: Powdery *****IRIS aldehyde. I’m still of the opinion that this is clean and soapy, but it is interesting because it’s smooth and delicate like a fancy triple milled French white soap. I can see myself wearing this after a hot shower and to fancy tea times and dinners. Probably what ballerinas smell like? Ladylike. Sample if you love soapy scents or vintage aldehydes.

Clair de musc is a soft, sweetish skin scent, the opening is crisp and fresh due to the neroli and bergamot, the heart is a beautiful iris-musk duet, then the dry-down is velvety because of the ambrette and sandalwood. It is not the laundry-kind of synthetic white musk, nor acrid animalic musk, just a beautiful creamy ambrette (musk mallow). A perfect comfort scent for autumn.

Musk is my favorite note. it will not come as suprise, i love Clair de Musc with all my heart. it has all the “right” notes for me and nothing wrong. i dearly love it and want a bottle.
two years ago, i smelled soapy ntoes in the opening here and dismissed the scent because i dislike soapy. now, ismelled those soapy notes 2 seconds, they were gone and i was left with a gorgeous musk that is åprobably my perfect musk, i have ordered two spray samples and there wasnt’ this soapy note there. indeed, i was blessed with loveliest musc. it is clean, but not laundry clean, it is rather natural and warm clean,. soft, skin scent, fits into my “perfect musk” and my “perfect perfume” cathegory – a perfume that doesn’ smell like perfume, instead, it smells sensual, good, smells like skin, like a woman, like my scentless body cream on my warm skin, but better. i do love it. no sweetness here, which is a good thing for me. powder, drykind of scent. not much flowers to my nose, which is also a goos thing to me. it does have old school vibe, especially in the opening, i do recomend to test it. it reminds me a lot of avon soft musk, which i already have and like, so i am not rushing buying a bottle just now. but one day, i will have this beauty in that beautiful bottle. much softer and more neutral as Body Shop white musk. it works well as a relax scent to me, get me to sleep scent, as well as scent for those ocassions i am not suppose to wear any perfume. beautiful. for all musk lovers.

Sphynxcat below is right on! They wrote my review for me!
Body Shop WM really turns gnarly on me, no matter how many times I try. SLCM is much more smooth, with floral femine undertones. I wouldn’t call it unisex, but hey- wear what pleases. It’s clearly made with pricier ingredients than BSWM. And it reflects so on my skin.
Should you splurge on a retail price bottle? Certainly not! But if you love white musks; get a heavily discounted bottle from eBay. Don’t pay more than $75 with shipping. (Like I did)

This is one of those guilty pleasures in that I think for basically a white musk, it’s way too spendy. Yes, one could go with The Body Shop or Alyssa Ashley etc but there’s something about this little basic that I just like a lot more than the other cheapies. It’s smoother and more refined, doesn’t smell like dryer sheets or Febreeze. It’s clean but not overly and isn’t soapy. It’s a little more powdery from the iris and does remind me of a less powdery version of Teint de Neige which I love in the dead of winter. I can also see the Chanel no 5 connection for the 1st 30 min with the aldehydes. This is lighter weight and it’s the thing I wear when I want an undemanding, pretty halo of scent. Were it not a Serge, I think people wouldn’t be as harsh with criticism as being out of place in the Serge lineup. That being said- I got it heavily discounted and not sure I would have sprung for it at full price.

This is a lovely, clear musk, and one of the first musks I’ve tried that does not weigh heavy or thick on me.
It starts with strong aldehydes on my skin for a few minutes and then settles right down into iris. By turns, I can catch a short whiff of the citrus before it finally settles into a soft, light musk. Although blended well, it’s one of the perfumes where I can sit and sniff as each ingredient makes its entrance and exit, which to me, is the magic of perfume.
Staying power was very short for me, so I am not likely to spend for a FB.

I chose Clair de Musc today as I needed a quiet perfume, one that would not leave me feeling naked and perfume-less, but that wouldn’t offend or impinge on my surroundings. A “my skin but nicer,” type of scent, in fact. Clair de Musc is less sweet than my favourite, Villoresi Musk, but is also less noticeable, and it does dry down into a sweet skin scent.
On first application I always detect a slight plastic, artificial note, not quite the “doll head” note but one that would discourage me from wearing this if it lasted longer. Fortunately it disappears after the first half hour or so and the flowers begin to appear, providing a little sweetness that makes me happier.
After about four hours there is a creaminess to the fragrance that reminds me a little of the early stages of No 5 edt, a great favourite of mine and regular bedtime perfume. It continues to improve, in my opinion, into the drydown, when it becomes a sweet, creamy, vanilla skin scent.
Projection is average in the first stages but minimal after the first couple of hours. Longevity, like most of the Lutens fragrances, is excellent and I can still smell this on myself after 12 hours. It is a very pleasant, useful perfume, one that can be worn at any time and for any occasion, especially those when one does not wish to make one’s mark too clearly. It is not one of my great loves, one I do not wish to live without, but it is a friend, and I enjoy wearing it on those occasions when it is just what I am needing.

Very clean, a bit aldehydic and very powdery almost chalky, this is not a baby powder musk or animalic musk. The powder is that of the cosmetic kind, because of the iris, a bit soapy. It has a certain elegant and classy aura. When it meets warm air something nutty and woody appears on my skin.

opens with a floral aldehyde that gets a bit chypre for a moment then the musk rises until it dries down a powdery musk

  22. :

    4 out of 5

I have for a long time been seeking a simple musk, and this offering from Lutens is very possibly the answer to my wishes. Clair de Musc is one of the few musky perfumes to smell “clean” that I actually feel comfortable wearing, as it never ventures off into “washing powder” or “sharp-floral-headache” territory.
The initial blast is animalic to me, and reminds me of Kiehl’s Original Musk, albeit not as strong, and, as it settles, softly and delicately, it flirts between something a bit clean, powdery or slightly animalic. There is always an undercurrent of something floral. The dry-down is lovely, and as the day progresses the scent assumes a musky, lived-in, intimate sort of smell, that’s soft and clean and calming.
Only a soft to moderate sillage here, the fragrance is actually quite light, translucent almost, but very pretty. Longevity is for about 4-5 hours before it fades to a faint whisper of a scent. I would’ve loved for this one to last a little longer 🙂

  23. :

Clair de musc is pretty much an October scent. Its texture is mellow. It softly radiates. At the heart of the fragrance lies a fresh flower, but it is not offered at such. It is surrounded by a soapy halo. Clair de musc bears similarities with eaux de cologne, except that it is denser.
This fragrance is a skin scent. It is discrete, as it seems to melt on you; yet it is incredibly long-lasting, too.
I was glad to notice that it smelt like caramel on my skin … A gourmand facet that I had not expected.
    Beautiful addictive perfume.

About the name in french – Clair the Musc is a play on the word moonshine – Clair de lune in french.

Soft, powdered creamy-musk bliss! (Without the anoying sweetness.) I’ve left a review for Clair de Musc before, but I thought I’d add that this is
*AMAZING* when paired with a small amount of Infusion D’Iris by Prada.
Like I mentioned in a previous reveiw, it’s like I accidentally (yet happily) fell into some creamy, powdered vanilla-iris cake and just dusted myself off, leaving this wonderful, warm powdered (unsweetened?) cold angel-cake cloud in my wake. Not powdery though. More of a creamy affect. Does not last very long on the skin, but it certainly stays close by if you spray on your clothes or in your hair. Very lovel, creamy and intimate.
WHEN COMBINED WITH INFUSION D’IRIS BY PRADA: I cannot even *begin* to tell you how many compliments I get when I wear this combo. The overall effect is modern-Iris perfection, without the “old lady” smell and without the overpowering sweet floral vibe that I get from just the Infusion D’Iris, exclusively.
When layered, Clair de Musc and Infusion D’Iris create earthy heaven, all at once. Highly recommend buying these two together.

This smells very nice in my opinion. It reminds me quite a bit of Skin Musk Parfums de Coeur which I owned few years ago (and can be had very cheaply.) It also reminds me too much of of my step-grandma who must have wore some similar type of floral musk (maybe she wore that Jovan Musk everyone else is referencing?) I finally ended up giving my bottle away to my sister because I just couldn’t enjoy smelling like this (scent memories and all.) Funny enough, her husband LOVED it on her. He said it reminded him of Egyptian Musk incense sticks that were his favorite to burn as a teenager and he was sniffing her and following her around the whole day the first time she wore it.

  27. :

    3 out of 5

It’s a pleasant, pretty musk, but unfortunately it has nothing more to offer than Jovan Musk except for a much prettier bottle, better name and a price 15x higher. This is a great example of the power of good marketing, packaging and design.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

I discounted this the first time I wore it as I could barely smell it (probably due to the fact I was on a Lutens bender at the time and tested it after heavy hitters like Chergui and Ambre Sultan).
Now it’s Summer so I revisited it ; and I have been wearing it for days continuously now. I think it needs some warmth to come alive (as my skin is pretty cool usually). I detect some soft citrus like warmed lemon peel, but nothing sharp or jarring. And skin musk – like clean healthy skin. Clean and alive not sterile. Finally a woody clear iris; as if said skin has been smoothed with crushed iris petals.
    Addictive and worth multiple sampling.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

It’s like a drugstore musk, and it reminds me of something popular in the late 80s to early 90s. Like many white musks, the scent really lingers on clothing and can catch in my nose and throat for hours. Not as stanky as the ubiquitous, “declaring one’s Africanicity up everyone’s noses on the bus” Egyptian musk oil, but almost. I still wear it and that frightens me.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

A cold, sharp knife cuts through a soft white linen blouse only to rest delicately on freshly powdered skin.
I wear this perfume mostly for layering with heavy florals to give headiness a bit of a boost.
I find that when I wear it after long day against my salty skin, the iris becomes more pronounced.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

this smells like 90% soft musk, similar to white musk, with hints of iris. reminds me of “china musk” scents we wore in high school in the 90s. 🙂 fond memories! then it gets a bit more powdery from the iris, after a couple minutes, but still to me, remains very china musk, slightly different from “china rain”. <3

  32. :

    5 out of 5

It’s a strong powdery iris and musk scent. It could be very subtle and light skin scent, but there’s also a more powerful part in it.
I totally agree with people who compare it with Chanel Number 5, there is some similarity between them.
A rich sophisticated powdery scent. I think it’s in my top 5 favorite Serge Lutens’ scents.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This is probably sacrilege but, to me, Clair de Musc is like a cross between a $10 bottle of Jovan White Musk and a $5 bottle of Body Fantasies Signature Fresh White Musk by Parfums de Coeur. It’s a very, very pretty white floral musk, but is it worth $70+? No. I’m going to have to go with no.
    EDITED TO ADD:
There are traces of Musc Nomade in the vegetal dry down of Clair de Musc. It really is pretty. But since I own all three of the afore-mentioned white musks, I think this is a hard pass.

  34. :

Clair de Musc was released in 2003 and its name means “Clear Musk”. Serge demonstrates what inspired him through the following words: “Lighter than ever, it holds out the promise of a caress. The musk walks in moonlight, a wild beast tamed”.
Clair de Musc has notes of musk, bergamot, orange blossom petals, Tuscan iris, jasmine and sandalwood.
On the skin is lovely and feminine. On my mind, an idea sets this fragrance better than any other word: a young girl, who has always been a fan of her mother’s perfume (Chanel Nº5), aware of its daring and peculiar sensuality, discovered a way to make it more wearable for someone of her age. Then, she diluted a few drops in a floral scented water, more innocent and childlike, and noticed that the magic of Chanel Nº5 was there, exactly how she felt on the skin of her mother, every night, when she embraced her at the end of the day. She realized that that perfume kept the presence of her mother all day long, without taking her innocence or report the source of her secret. A simple sprayed on each side of the neck was enough to keep the promise of a diary caress of her mother, when she gets home. Thus, born Clair de Musc.
Clair de Musc is adorable, it possesses a vibrant and powdery output, but soft. It is impossible not to remember fragrances such as Chanel Nº5 or other classics in the same style. It does not have a great evolution and loses power quickly, both with respect to the projection, as well as durability. Unfortunately, its musk is vegetable and too light for my taste. In about 4 hours, there is only a slight fragrance close to the skin, which does not seem to me to be an Eau de Parfum of Lutens surname, created for adult women.
I see myself forced to agree with Serge, when he says: “lighter than ever”.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

Cool, powdery opening. Heavy white flower (jasmine-like), very faint light wood (cedar?), really high end baby powder, peppery smell in the background; develops into cool white flowers, still powdery but tamed down; later powder dries down to pretty flowers and the aldehyde comes through.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This is a powdery floral with soft woods hovering around. The musk component is not at the forefront in my opinion. I have Schiaparelli Shocking and it’s much more evident in that. Clair de Musc is sophisticated and stylish. Try it layered with Feminite de Bois – it certainly has a wow factor. It’s very pretty by itself, but I have trouble with Lutens staying power, and by layering these two, I might have found my Holy Grail.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

Soft powdery musk. Has a slight reminder of baby powder to it. It actually has a slight scent of newborn baby to it…it’s almost angelic.
It’s a soft sweet inoffensive fragrance. I’m more of a more is more person. So I’ll take a pass. But if you’re in an office environment or an environment where more is more is not encouraged, this might be perfect.
    Longevity – 4 hours / Sillage – low
    5/10

  38. :

I should state before I go on, that this is a perfectly nice frag. It is me not the frag that causes the issue. Scent evokes memories, like nothing else can.
At the beginning of Clair de Musc, I pick up the Chanel no5. Then it goes straight to the musk. It reminds me so much of Jovan’s White Musk in the 1970s. Unfortunately it also takes me back the horrid awkwardness and confusion of being a teenager. I cannot get past those memories. Fragrances with large amounts of apple also do this to me.

This is a true delight of a scent. Delicate, slightly floral, powdery sweet musk scent. Makes me think of floating clouds its so light and buoyant. It isn’t too strong but has a solid presence, lasting about six hours with medium sillage. You can smell it without holding your wrist up to your nose, which is frequently a problem with light musk scents. Just beautiful — great for work or day time wear any time.

I am head over heels inlove with this scent. This is pure beauty, like that beautiful woman who does not wear any makeup, just combs her hair in the morning, and is completly oblivious about her beauty.
That is how Clair de Musc comes across to me, so effortlessly beautiful. Calm, clean and powdery, a natural beauty if one can say that about a perfume. I can not explain it in any other way.

  43. :

    4 out of 5

Clair de Musc is my favorite powdery white musk fragrance on the market. It bounces between squeaky clean and animalic depending on the day. Some days it smells more like a creamy iris musk with bright aldehydic tones and other days the musk smells of the mysterious duskiness imparted by the neroli. On my skin, this opens with a distinct lily note which does not appear in the pyramid above. Additionally, I am surprised that neither vanilla or sandalwood are listed, I can clearly smell both in the musky base of this perfume.
For my preferences and sensibilities, Clair de Musc is a very enjoyable, wearable comforting musk. Perfect for casual wear. Longevity is very good, I can smell it for most of a day. The sillage is polite but after a couple hours, this becomes a skin scent. Seriously gorgeous stuff!

  44. :

I was fortunate to have received some SL samples in the mail and have been wanting to try Clair de Musc, since I love musk and this is a HG to many. Unfortunately, it is too cold, aloof and aldehydic on my skin, likely because of the dominant iris (which doesn’t work with my chemistry at all). Reminds me of EL White Linen and Chanel No.5, scents that are classic, elegant and well-made but simply do not suit me. Will possibly re-test but I’m glad I avoided a blind buy on this one.

  45. :

    3 out of 5

The first time or two I tried Clair de Musc I felt like it was just another classic white musk and was too similar to The Body Shop White Musk smell (among others) that we all know so well. I found it hard to justify the price when there seemed like so many similar options out there for a much smaller price tag ……but now I feel differently.
I rarely wear it because I have way too many perfumes but each time I do, I find it more beautiful. And yes it does smell similar to many other classic white musks on the market but this one is extra special. It is so beautifully done. Not screechy or cold, it is smooth and comforting. While clean, it isn’t TOO clean like that stark clean white linen smell…it has a slight woody earthiness to it. It is a classic powdery iris white musk but somehow doesn’t feel as stark and cold, or sour, as some of the others. It is slightly sexy and the kind of scent most people would find appealing and not obnoxious or intrusive.
I grow to love Clair de Musc more and more each time I wear it. I have tried countless white musks in the floral white musk category as it is one of my favorite smells and find it to be superior to most of them. For what reason I can’t quite put my finger on. It just feels more complete or something. Longevity on me is fantastic, can still smell it the next day. Clair de Musc doesn’t really smell like “perfume”. It is fairly casual and not something you would choose for a formal outing or anything like that. It is more like a comforting scent when you want to simply smell nice and not intrusive or distracting.

it’s like a clean wet white sheets in the morning left out in the back yard to be dry by the sun light. i can slightly smell the flower notes and the similarity with white musk by Jovan. but when it dries down it’s not that pleasant to my nose, i can smell a slight essence of Organic fertilizer in the background of that field. and honestly i don’t know if it’ll stay like that or will grown harsh!
it doesn’t have the 24+ longevity as often SL stays for 7+ hours. it’s good, but not that amazing as other SL masterpieces.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

A thick powdery white musk. Simple but not simplistic. It has a bit of a sour tingling due to the citrus, so it’s not too sweet. It lasts quite long on my skin, and after a while the flowers might start showing out of the musky mist, and then I really enjoy it. Otherwise I find the musk very dominant and so a bit boring, but it makes it nice for layering.

  48. :

    A musc drowned in powder.
Not a bad combination, yet somehow this smells too much like baby powder for me to truely enjoy it.
I like this perfume, yet I find it more suitable for a comfortable evening at home than for actually wearing it as a scent.

  49. :

Clean, powdery, soft, graceful, and feminine. I imagine ballerinas, first snow fall and the last, soft fabric, and fresh laundry. There is also a slight lushness, moist feel to it im guessing from the neroli and bergamont although its not strong at all, I think just gives it a not so sharp smell to it; not a pure and dry powder puff. Reminds me of DonnaC Cashmere Mist without the suede. Stays around too and not just smiles and leaves like most powdery/clean/musky/soft fragrances. Beautifully done!

  50. :

When I first sprayed this I immediately remembered the scent my mother wore in the late 70’s to 80’s called Jovan Musk, not the white one but the original. Claire de Music has it’s own special twist but overall I smell musk and it’s a bit peppery yet don’t see that a note listed. It’s growing on me… It also reminds me of Si Lolita by Lolita Lempicka a little which is also a peppery scent.

A long-wearing, sophisticated, beautiful musk perfume for women.
As a new wearer of Lutens, I am alternating between this and Fille en Aiguilles. They are on opposites of the scent spectrum which is why I chose them, and why I love moving between them.
This struck me, straight away, as the perfect way to accentuate an outfit:
    at a gallery opening
    a networking event
    a date night
    any formal or special occasion
But it’s just as easy something to float around the house wearing on a day off when you’ve only got washing to do and good books to read.
It’s delectable and each note’s composition together makes for a vanilla kind of redolence. Makes it feel edible, but without needing tonka or an actual vanilla note added to it. Clever.
As I grow older (I am twenty nine this week) I am finding myself gravitating to the more offbeat, smokier, woodier scents, as well as orientals. I like smells that are intelligent, both in their scent and their composition, ones that you can intellectualise as well as romanticise. Lutens is promising here. Even the scents in the range I’m not particularly fond of have some unusual or striking quality to them. They are well-thought out elixirs, and beautifully drawn together.
I’m looking forward to adding a third one to my collection as an additional alternative.
These are scents for those who want to set themselves apart, and for true sensualists.

This is pure cream and powder, clean and dry. I’m in love. Soft, CREAMY, delicate musk with long staying-power when / if sprayed on clothes. The iris note rounds out the musk and creates a fluffy, soft pink (?) aura. I think Jovan White Musk would be it’s very nice 13-year-old little sister. Clair de Musc would be the confident-in-her-own-skin 29 year old sister who has it all – beauty, brave-innocence, intelligence, and that certain… girl-next-door-men-want-to-marry sorta vibe. LOVE this scent. Note that it does have a sort of “dirty” note in it… Sort of a warm-powder, animalistic scent permeating the dry-down. When it’s on my wrist, I can’t stop smelling!!! It’s like I accidentally (yet happily) fell into some creamy, powdered vanilla cake and just dusted myself off, leaving this wonderful, warm powdered (unsweetened?) angel-cake cloud in my wake. Does not last very long on the skin though, but it certainly stays potent if you spray on your clothes. Very lovely and intimate. If you wanna smell like an earth-angel, this it THE ONE. (And guess what?! I have finally found my grown-up signature scent: Clair de Musc by Serge Lutens. Hooray!!! My search is over thanks to Fragrantica.)

Starts with Neroli blossom mixed with light musk. Iris is almost undetectable. At the dry-down musk stands out more and it starts smelling soapy on my skin. Overall, it is nice daytime, safe, diluted musk fragrance. Nothing spectacular for me, just nice.

It must have been quite a shock when Serge put this little delicate musk out but now it has been out for quite awhile, in fact in the Serge Luten’s collection it is actually a bit of an oldie.
Clair de Musc is a pure clean creamy little musk that is practically like putting on a clean downy white robe. It is comfortable and clingy in with way your favorite worn out cotton bedtime t-shirt feels but Serge makes the point of making sure it has no out of pointed edges, rounded like mother of pearl this scent is all about comfort. I feel like he created this little musk to flabbergast his audience and it does but strangely I suspect it has quite a little following.

I am NOT a fan of musk but I have to say Clair de Musc is exquisite. Beautiful light musk fragrance that cheer up my senses. I smell the musk with the Iris and it makes a beautiful combination. This fragrance should be unisex. I am male and I love it. It lasts a very long time on me 6-7 hours and maybe more.

there’s a super brief hint of some kind of gorgeous floral musk at the start, but after that 1/2 second or so, it’s just pure powder on me. Pleasant, but not of any particular interest to me. Li
