Besides the latest edition Living Lalique to mark the year of 2015 of the house of Lalique, a new collection of fragrance inspired by precious metals was introduced. It arrives after last year’s collection Lalique Noir Premier La Collection and follows the tradition and style of the house. Flacons of the new collection Lalique Les Compositions Parfumees Collection were created in the same style as the flacons of men’s fragrance Hommage a l’homme Voyageur presented last year, made of blurred glass with a black stopper.
The latest collection Lalique Les Compositions Parfumees includes the following editions: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Electrum and Zamak. “A harmonious blend of metals melted together as perfume raw materials arrive united in a collection of beautiful and unique fragrances. Five different fragrances are based on alloys of metals and precious metals”.
The opening notes of Silver provide cardamom, lemon and thyme as silver stars that awaken all senses. The heart adds galbanum and Haitian vetiver to accentuate elegance while the base contains leather, patchouli and labdanum, leaving a leather-chypre trail.
The nose behind this fragrance is Karine Dubreuil.

Aromatic Fougere at it’s best. In my opinion the best of the line. Opens up with a great lemon cardamon scent. For a citrus it last more than average. The leather, vetiver and patchouli are perfectly well combined and the longevity is also excellent.

This is the sophisticated leather fragrance I hoped Midnight in Paris would be. The metallic notes elevate the scent from its surroundings so it stands out without needing to be overpowering. Excellent.

To capture silver’s vibrancy and luster, the perfumer opens the fragrance with a citrus-spicy interlude. Bright and searing lemon is combined with herbal thyme and aromatic cardamom. Together they impart the fragrance with an exhilarating start. For those who are not overly fond of cardamom, fear not as the spice is found in a reserved manner within the composition. Verdant galbanum and woody vetiver comprise the heart accord. Galbanum’s bitingly green qualities alongside its balsamic-woody facets are a perfect accompaniment to Haitian vetiver’s deep, earthy tone. They both provide a beautiful counterpoint of woodiness to the acidic opening citrus. The base is comprised of animalic leather, musky patchouli and smokey cistus labdanum.
‘Silver’ by Lalique is a classically masculine leather-chypre fragrance incorporating citrus, labdanum, and leather. There is a vintage feeling to the composition, which may turn off younger men who are searching for something more modern or groundbreaking. It feels elegant and refined like a perfectly tailored suit, being conservative enough for traditionalists while still remaining not overly stodgy. For those looking for a fragrance which harkens back to the gentlemanly pursuits of a foregone era, ‘Silver’ hits the mark. Capitalizing on this universal appeal, the composition seems applicable to year-round use. As an “eau de parfum”, projection and sillage are above average while longevity is excellent. ‘Silver’ is a versatile fragrance, having the unique ability to be equally suitable for both casual and formal wearings. Despite this dichotomy, I feel it definitely projects an air of sophistication and retains a sense of luxury even with laid back use. No matter how or when it is used, ‘Silver’ makes its wearer smell well coiffed and expensive. A perfect accessory to any dapper man’s fragrance wardrobe.

This is a true old school aromatic fougère gem. Its green and has a very good quality barbershop feel to it. I like the citrus blend going on in this fragrance. I had the opportunity to get my nose on this in downtown Seattle at a very nice boutique called Parfumerie Nasreen. Wat a class staff and nice selection of high quality fragrances.
