Ok, so as we speak I have absolu on my right hand and Profumo on my left. I can tell you that yes, absolu smells more young and playful, less serious by all means. I would wear this when it’s just a casual night out. Maybe a date or a party or just hanging with friends. Profumo comes off as more serious and event-like. I love absolu but I only like Profumo. Imo Profumo has a stronger marine note which is backed by the lime that makes it stronger. In absolu the marine note is more blended with the sweet and fruity notes which is more pleasing to me. I’m not a super fan of marine notes as they can easily make me nauseated. Both of these are nice
Listen, if you’re 30+ you may want to get Profumo but if you’re in your 20s you make like absolu.
I do however think the performance on profumo is better as it is stronger. Both will be in my collection but I will rotate absolu more.

I bought the Essenza and regret it. Essenza smells great, but to me certain fragrances are just too weird to wear, but smell great.. ahem Dior Sauvage. Profumo is just okay, but every time I go to the mall, I sample this one. It’s my favorite of the line by far. I am not going to purchase it because it’s just ridiculous to keep buying flankers (at least for me). I would say if you’re thinking of buying a Gio flanker, sample this one on your other wrist and walk around for an hour and come back to it. For me, this is the best of the line. I’m more of a mature scent guy, and think it’s possible to pull this one off flawlessly.

The fragrance is good, leads to the already known scents of the previous Acqua di Giò. I like it but I must say that it has nothing new. When something innovative?

This is something I need. The Gio signature with a little bit sweet.
It is very far from Invictus. Nothing close to that. It is something that when you smell you know that this is Gio (family) I like it.

    First of all,
Compared to AdG Classic, Essenza and Profumo (Which is obviously brothers)
Absolu is more like their uncle.
I didn’t notice any similarity from Classic AdG’s DNA
Strong Woody & Citrus scent but none of the sweet & Fresh notes
Absolu is nice scent, but i could’ve sworn there are other brands with SAME scent
    Absolu is definitely mature scent
Imagine attractive middle aged lumberjack chopping woods on the backyard of his cabin
    Now that’s Absolu!
Not suitable scent for young man IMO
Young man tends to choose Fresher / Sweeter notes
2 spray on the sides of your neck should be enough
AdG Classic : Balanced Sweet & Fresh
    Essenza : Woody & Sweet
    Profumo : Crazy Fresh
    Absolu : Woody & Citrus
Tips : Never spray it on clothes, as this would make Absolu smells cheap. Spray it on your skin, WORLD DIFFERENCE!
    Projection 5 / 10
    Longevity 7 / 10

Where are you people getting Invictus (any of them) from? This smells nothing like Invictus. It’s a woody, fresh, clean scent. Two sprays on the back of my neck in Sephora lasted the whole day! I fell in love with the smell. I knew I smelled good. And I like the bottle and love the wooden cap. 10/10.

  8. :

    5 out of 5

    Meh.
The only thing impressive about this is the bottle and the sweet wooden cap. Other than that, totally run of the mill and forgettable. I had high hopes, as I really liked the Gio Profumo. It was zesty and full of flavor, even though it wasn’t a totally original smell combo. But then to transition into this flanker — huge let down. After 2 hours it was barely there, and even when it was there it was nothing special.

This is a great scent, to everyone who is knocking it, I really don’t know why, maybe you’re young or don’t appreciate the finner things, or mayb this scent isn’t for you! Other than that, this is a beautiful scent. Last really long on my skin and the projection is great. Great stuff by Armani! 10/10

So it has the AdG DNA sorta but it has a big Tonka note which I do like Tonka but if I compared this to my favorite tonka scents AHS EE then I would say this falls very short of being special.
To me this smells very very basic and super safe; safe isn’t always a bad thing because I think every arsenal should have a safe work scent (or multiple safe work scents).
This tbh is prolly not even my top 5 of Tonka based scents and also if you want a Aquatic Fresh Tonka based scent I would go with Dylan Blue as a default and then prolly Pure Tonka then AHS EE (listing from 3 to 1).
For the price I think this doesn’t do well in the category it’s at; it does have kind of a cooler weather vibe to it which is prolly where I would reach for this (Autumn and maybe cooler Spring days) so it has that going for it because honestly I won’t reach for Dylan Blue in the Autumn or Winter but i think some ppl would.
This has some nice things about it, it’s safe it’s easy to wear it’s a little more cold weather friendly which not many aquatic scents really hold up in that climate.
Price wise I would still lean towards Pure Tonka but if you are looking for that AdG DNA (which this has but not as in your face) then this is actually perfect for you.
Overall though Scent: 6.5/10, it’s really meh but if you love AdG and want to expand your scent profile this is a good intro to Tonka based scents
Lasts for a good while and projects well also.

When we encounter something new, we compare it to what we know from the past. This is a very natural thing to do. We do the same with fragrances too. We try this new Giorgio Armani release and we say: oh, it’s like Invictus Aqua, or in my case: oh, it reminds me of Jimmy Choo man, but if we give it enough time, we will confess that it has its uniqueness.
so, it is a light fruity scent that has a touch of vanilla. The kind of synthetic vanilla that strongly represents itself in Givenchy Pi, but here is just a touch of vanilla.
Now, if you come across this fragrance with some expectation and hope that it would be similar to the original ADG, you will be disappointed. Think about it. If you have gone through few bottles of ADG during the past two decades, Giorgio Armani had you as a customer already. This one is released for new generations mainly in my idea. They are the targets for this ADGAbsolu, and it looks like it has done a good job.
Considering that I am not the target of this new release, I can still tell you what I personally think about ADGA. Its performance is outstanding(projection and longevity). It has a synthetic part to it. I don’t see anything special about it. The dry down is much better, but not good enough to make me spend so much money to buy it, BUT…
LADIES LOVE THIS SCENT, and I don’t know why. Well, I don’t know the reasons behind other decisions ladies take either, but this alone makes me wanna buy ADGABSOLU.
If I want to cheer myself up, or enjoy a fragrance by myself I got other choices. More masculine ones that I really love like Terre d’Hermes, but if I want to get complements from ladies this is what I wear.

Tested both on skin and paper.
Opens with sour citruses with aquatic notes and then dries down with a wooden background. This smells generic – not unpleasant, but nothing special to really separate you from the crowd. Women generally find this pleasant (you generally can’t go wrong with freshies). Has similarities to Versace Pour Homme or Polo Ultra Blue, if you are familiar with those. Can imagine this being a one trick pony for a variety of situations in the hotter weather for the younger crowd.
This would be redundant in my collection, thus not full bottle worthy for me, but this would be a good beginner scent for someone young starting out on their fragrance journey.

I bought this for my boyfriend month ago. I just cant believe it. This perfume smells divine (I hate almost all perfumes) and it last for 2 days! UNBELIEVABLE. I am of these people who has problem with longevity. My boyfriends doesnt but nothing lasted like this one. 11/10

I am really dissapointed with this fragrance. Yes, I like the design of bottles and wooden bottle caps.
But the smell is nothing special and I could not find something unique. The smell is very similar to Chevignon Heritage for Men and Excellence Jaguar for men.

Been testing this for 2 weeks in rotation with other perfumes. I find that this has heavy projection and after 4 hours I can still smell it. Longevity wise easily 8 hours and more.

As a few have said, Absolu seems to get some of its bad rap from some listening to youtubers too much. It’s not -that- bad even if it’s not your thing which I totally respect.
The upside is that while lots of the gentlemen seem to dislike it, I’ve gotten nothing but positive reactions from the ladies while wearing it. It does start off on the fruity side but it’s quite pleasant to my nose.
The drydown is smooth and pleasing with decent projection and longevity.
Absolu definitely branches off by quite a bit from the original AdG dna but in a delicious and unique enough way to make the purchase more than worth it based on the reactions I’ve enjoyed.

Begins quite nice ..sort of fruity aquatic but soon ends up nauseating and cheap smelling. The type of scent to buy if you just want to smell nice around teeny bopper’s.

    A decent release from armani
Beautiful fruity-aquatic aroma with a moderate sillage and projection
    This what all summer needs!
    I’d give it 4/5
    Love it

My manager got a sample of this today at Sephora and the opening is almost identical to Bvlgari Aqva Amara.. I like Aqva Amara a lot better… If you own Aqva Amara this is a redundant buy!

AGE & SEX plays an HUGE part whether you will ♥ or Hate ABSOLU. I think people underestimated the effect of Demographic on fragrances and that WOMEN’s nose is very different from a Men’s nose. What smell good to a guy don’t always smell good to a women.
    • Old Men tend to like Smoky Incense Tobacco scents
    • Old Men tend to ♥ ADG-Profumo while (hating) on ABSOLU
    • Young Girls tend to HATE smoky incense tobacco scents
    • Young Girls tend to ♥ Fruity + Sweetness in their fragrances
    • like Versace Eros + PB Invictus + ADG-ABSOLU
The question you need to ASK is who are trying to impressed?
    • ADG-Profumo is best for impressing other ♂ Colleague, while
    • ADG-ABSOLU is better for impressing ♀ for dates
I don’t think you can go wrong with either fragrances. You just need to figure out who you are and why you’re wearing a particular fragrances.

Seems like the ones who dislike this are the ones who love the other flankers. People need to stop comparing this to profumo, totally different scents.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

It seems many people are comparing this to Invictus Aqua, there are some similarities but when I tried ADG Absolu it also smelled more natural and refined to me.
Another heads up though for people who like Invictus Aqua I suggest trying MontBlanc Legend Spirit, excellent & very underrated sweet/fresh/spicy fragrance, more affordable and in the same ballpark, makes more sense to me personally to get MBLS and perhaps ADGA if/when funds are available.
As for Profumo vs Absolu I think the two frags compliment each other rather than compete, ideally would be nice to own both!

@007peter no hate train here. Tried it and did not like it. wife didn’t like it, her female friends found it boring. Yet Aqua di Gio Profumo they all loved. Almost every one of them went bonkers over Profumo. I think that’s the first time I wore a fragrance that every lady I asked found it from very good to off the charts.
So guys, I got to agree with Jeremy, Mymickers and others that don’t like Absolu. I’m not saying it’s really bad, because it’s not. It’s just boring, generic, and there’s a note in there that just turns me off. Something like a rotten fruit or something.
To be fair, one girl I asked did like it quite a bit, but she said, “The one you wore yesterday was better.” For the records, that yesterday scent was ADG Profumo
In the end, all that matters is the you the wearer likes it, and ideally the people around you.

  33. :

I love the opening of the fragrance but to me the dry down is reminesent of a typical designer scent and something that is redundant to a degree but I do really like it nonetheless but not enough to buy a 50ml bottle. Maybe if I can find a 30ml then we can talk.

Stop the jumping on the HATE TRAIN
    *******************************************
Like most people, I listen to the negative Youtuber review by
Jermy Fragrance, MyMickery, Kelvin Samuel and completely dismiss ADG-Absolu. Thus, I was completely caught off guard when I finally sample it @local Macy. I am lost for words how Amazing it smell. ABSOLU is better than 2016 + 2018 Invictus Aqua; its even better than the overhyped ADG-Profumo which is saturated with too much INCENSE that turn off women around me with a strong distaste. Girls say I smell like 1990 douche bag smoking a cigarette then spray ADG to cover the smoke.
After sampling various cologne from Sauvage, Versace Dylan Blue, every Invictus, and every PB 1 Million, I keep coming back to ADG-Absolu. It is Fresh…yet Sweet. This is the Aqua Di Gio for the NEW GENERATION without smelling like a cheap lemon furniture polish that the original 90’s ADG does on me.
I agree with(bsimps) review. You can’t trust Youtuber reviews, trust your NOSE instead. Don’t let the blind-hate-train deter you from this fantastic release. 2 spray of ADG-Absolu sample lasted 8 hours on my skin. Wow, that is 3 hours longer than the 2016 Invictus Aqua on me. Performance – for a freshie – is nothing less than AMAZING. My only criticism is the rather HIGH price of most Armani Fragrances. If price isn’t a concern, ADG-Absolu is my #1 choice for Spring/Summer fragrance, and it managed to knocked off my old favorite Chanel Allure Homme eau Extreme and as of now, it is my Top 5 best smelling fragrance I’d ever smell!

Invictus aqua smells so similar in the drydown. This one has nothing to do with adg line. Do not like the opening of this and yes Invictus Aqua smells better and projects longer.

Nobody is gonna talk about the huge dollop of tonka in this? Absolu is a tonka BOMB, in a style that smells like something that came out in the late 2000s I can’t place my finger on. It smells very very generic and cheap. So… why do I like it?

  39. :

    3 out of 5

The acqua di Gio line continues with this, and so far for me the original was and still is a great aquatic. Then we have essenza which is decent and represented a more refined take on the theme. I didn’t get really Profumo at first, but again I thought it was decent enough, I like it much more now though, so this has me excited. Well, I was slightly disappointed and not because this smells bad but because it smells a bit confused, I’m not sure if it’s deliberate or AdG Absolu is just mixed up and unsure about what it is. There’s a degree of depth to the perfume though, opening like an aquatic, standard, citrus woody scent then it starts to settle and has a more complex, creamy, white floral almost, Tonka/vanilla sweetness with hints of fruit it’s actually a bit sickly and strange for a while but with that generic smell looming all the while. Invictus aqua and other comparisons are valid and it’s not bad smelling but doesn’t add anything to the Gio family. I will say that I like the wooden stopper, that looks good. Not very inspiring stuff, wearable though and I’m sure it will sell but not enough of the AdG accord for me, fine to have variations, I don’t want them too similar but this doesn’t give me anything..
