I wanted to dislike this fragrance but I cant.
Its so uplifting and sophisticated.I get the apple note and the juniper berry. Very fresh, sharp, and dry. Its got that Escada Sentiment vibe but more citrusy.
A few moments later some tonka and wood peek their heads in, nothing strong. Which was a downer, Im a big tonka fan boy and would have loved some more in this. It would make it more seductive. Maybe an intense or night flanker would be nice

Very solid release by YSL – certainly blind buy worthy.
In my opinion Dior Sauvage is a masterpiece. And a very successful attempt at introducing a sexy, mass appealing fragrance DNA into the game. Its success is also now its downfall, leading its wearers to blend blindly into the vague haze of the masculinity of the masses.
Fortunately YSL have released Y-EDP – which while having initial similarities with the “bleu family” (uncle sauvage, cousin chanel, aunty bvlgari, dylan blue etc…) possesses its own unique assertiveness through a crisp fresh opening and clarifying sage note. Its superb – as the sage cannot simply be misunderstood for any of its contemporaries – and sits totally unique amongst the palette of the nostrils.
I currently own Sauvage EDT samples, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon, Versace Dylan Blue, BDC EDP sample etc.. And I’d currently tie this at #1 on my list with Prada Luna Rossa Carbon in terms of what I’m most likely to wear. As it is simply fresher and more palatable. Blue showergel with clarifying sage. Its a bath and enlightenment at the same time.
By comparison I also tested Coach Platinum recently and found it to be underwhelmingly similar to Sauvage with weak performance. And a perfect example of what Y-EDP should not be.
So this one gets two thumbs up from me!

canesforlife you are absolutely correct. Both EDT and EDP are amazing.

Amazing, the same level as Savauge. 10/10 you will get a lot of compliments!

As soon as I smell the opening, I feel in love. Smells super fresh of the bat but different at the same time. Doesn’t smell like your typical freshie that is dominant in citruses, so yes it smells semi-unique. HOWEVER, during my inital testing, after 30mins it already sits close to my skin and I have to nose close to hand again to try to smell the beautiful scent. Some people say this is an amped-up version of the original Y with better performance. Honestly I don’t see any major performance improvement as least on my skin and this is a HUGE MAJOR BUMMER. If this scent had a performance and projection equivalent to a Bleu de Chanel or at most a Dior Sauvage, this would have my new signature summer scent right away. Oh…. also, it’s tooo damn expensive which helped me decide not to buy it right away…
    Smell – 4/5
    Performance – 2/5
    Value – 1/5 too expensive

you people are strange here reviewing this fragrance !!!!
it is very nice smell fragrance, simply why we need perfumes? because we need to smell good
not because we need some unique or ground breaking fragrances i have so many perfumes and i received good compliments with simple perfumes !!!
    GO BLIND BUY THIS

Absolutely terrible . Lacking of emotions , vibrations etc … A ball of syhntetic apple and amberwood close to the skin .

While I will grant that the scent is not groundbreaker or some new creation, you get incredible performance from this, first time I wore it to work everyone was like wow, the women really like it ,it’s a huge compliment getter,I guess it smells like green apples, it’s has that piercing quality of Dior’s sauvage, maybe it’s loading with the same chemicals.
While it is a bit more expensive, in the top range of designer $145Can , I do think it is a worthy bottle purchase.
Unless you present a 100ml bottle of Bleu de Chanel Eau De Parfum for a buck less.
So I give this YSL offering a 8/10 ,one less than Chanel
edit, I get a lot of Bergamot, lots of citrus in this Y

Good vibration but low performance. Not different to many other.6/10 a mix between azzardo Chrome Legend and dior sauvage.

Very common, well excepted fragrance. Nothing new or ground breaking. I will pass on this one.

I’ve been lucky to have recently found new fragrances that work well with my skin. This is one of them. I get really good performance with this one (never tried the EDT). People have no issues smelling me when I pass by them or walking up to them in the 6 hour mark with 5-6 sprays. Longevity for me is 12 hours +. I sprayed around 1 pm on a Monday, took a shower at night and around 9 am, i was rubbing my neck (I had a slight itch lol) and i got whiffs off it from my hand. Not bad for a YSL lol
Everyone likes this smell, i think you won’t find many who will dislike it. Women just love this thing, no idea why. Yeah its nothing that stands out but who cares, if you want to wear something you’ll know will be appreciated and safe, get this.
Be careful though the initial blast can be overwhelming if you go more than 3 sprays. Give it some time to dry.

Seemed very average scent to my nose but huge compliment magnet .
I want to buy one but will wait for a price drop it will get a decant .

Incredibly beautiful opening. It’s so bright and uplifting. It will die off rather quickly unfortunately. It’s been a brief ownership but it’s batting 100% on compliments per wear. Take that as you’d like.
If you need a numerical rating: 9/10

will buy when discounted//cheaper after the hype dies down and it gets closer to $50

Smells like blue de chanel mixed with YSL lhomme … not bad the scent is pretty good. Great frag to reach when you don’t know what to wear. Performance is also decent but I would not buy this at full retail price.
    8/10

This is better than the Eau De Toilette as it’s deeper and richer. Just like the toilette version I think this is best for a man who is either in college or is a young professional (18-30 age). Anyone can wear this however as its very versatile when it comes to age, season, and occasion. This is a crowd pleaser and is very inoffensive. It is however not very unique. This is a clear mix of scents like Sauvage and Invictus. That’s okay because they are both best sellers for a reason and has the ability to do the same.

Tested this and first impression was nah just your average scent that ive smelled before but after 20 mins i got 4 compliments mainly from family members but they were goin nuts over it
I keep getting this apple whiff. Its amazing definetly worth buying a bottle 9/10

  18. :

    5 out of 5

One of those generic mass appealing fragrances women love. And they do. I like it better than the toilette. It doesn’t smell like sauvage but it definitely has the same vibe. Performance was decent but not as beastly as it should be! Either way I want to buy.
I’m not one to follow trends but If I had to buy just one fragrance in 2018 it would be this one. It has a serious green apple note going on but don’t be turned off. Green apple is associated with youth but not in this case. It’s that green apple fragrance done right.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

The notes and quality of this scent is something you could expect from Boss, CK or other Coty frag worth not more than 20-30 euro
    Another redundant flakner.
The mainstream parfum market is in the deep shit now a days…

I agree with James Bond below. I went to Nordstrom with 2 strong spray on my wrist @8:30pm. Its smell AMAZING, I ♥ the opening. It project for 30mins, then collapsed into skin scent. By 11pm, it was gone. I ♥ the smell, I just wish it performs better on my skin. I’m very disappointed by the Perfomrance of most modern designer scent. Where are the Powerhouse fragrance from 1980/1990?

  21. :

    4 out of 5

Got a sample of this with a purchase at Macy’s.
I sprayed in the same place on my wrist 2 times @ 6:45pm. The scent is so freakin nice. I LOVE this scent!
By 9:00pm there was no trace of this wonderful scent. So I went back to my Invictus Aqua.
I Love this scent but…but the performance cannot justify buying this at full retail price. I’ll wait and see if I can find a deal somewhere because I just cannot see spending $80 on a poor performer even if the scent is nice.

I tested this today. I really liked the opening and the scent in general on paper isn’t too bad, however on my skin there’s something I personally really don’t like-a green vibe perhaps. Somehow Y reminds me a bit of Utopia II by Ajmal which is no doubt a fine fragrance, just not to my taste (and a regretted blind buy).

Am I the only one feeling like this sudden newfound love in the community for Y and Y edo is somehow artificial?

  24. :

This could be in the top 10 chic magnet fragrances of the 2018 year. This is an amazing scent, an intoxicant. I get just as much compliments with this, as I do with Creed Aventus. I usely purchase niche scents. This is better than popular top sellers Chanel Bleu, Dior Sauvage, Jimmy choo, or Versace Dylan Blue. Too many compliments when I had the samples, I had to purchase it.

Don’t let nobody fool you this stuff gets compliments and I am yet to come across one person who dosent like it. Women love this stuff.

    This smells great.
Smells a little like Bleu. More so than the edt.
Overall the edp is about 20% stronger and lasts a couple hours longer than the edt.
Less sweet and slightly more mature.
People complain about designer frags all smelling the same. First, this is not true. Sure they smell similar but Valentino Acqua doesn’t smell like Aqua di gio perfumo or like Invictus Aqua. But they do all have the modern fresh sweet smell.
    Like Y.
If you’re one of the big brands why would you force your loyal customers to switch brands to get an on trend sent?
Jazz wasn’t a daring frag back when and was very on trend. It was just a touch above the others and is remembered as a classic by anyone who wore it. Jazz Prestige was even better.
I’m sure there were haters on AOL back then too moaning about another redundant release from a house that used to be great. 🙂
    Y edt 8/10
    Y edp 9/10

The magic is in the dry down. Like after an hour it’s this fresh slightly salty clean deodorized scent that is awesome. Tough choice between this and invictus aqua but if I had to choose it be this one the dry down kills the invictus drydown

  28. :

Yes, this is on my to buy list. This should have been the original Y, so much better. This smells very good, Striking and Alluring good for a designer scent. This will turn heads. Its a good aromatic so it will project solidly. A good blend so I cant point out the notes.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

Beautiful fragrance, very similar to the original but exactly what you’d expect from an EDP flanker. It maintains the scent while adding some depth.
I never had any issues with longevity of the EDT and this one certainly has no issues with longevity, it adds a touch of sweetness as well which makes it another great addition to the YSL collection

  30. :

This stuff is sweet AND sour. This has a crazy sour green apple note right off the bat mixed with cedar.
This is extremely likable. The only reason I can see someone liking this is because its nothing ground breaking.
Take Invictus Aqua, tone down the aquatic notes and amp up the fruit. Its like a sour Invictus Aqua.
This is incredibly fresh, sweet, sour and happiness in a bottle.

  31. :

Semi sweet amberwoody, tonka-esque mess, like a lot of another shit on the market.absolutely forgettable .
    Sorry saint Laurent …

I like pretty much everything YSL puts out. I like this scent but I’m not sure if I love it. See, it’s good but the problem is. I feel like it falls in the league of he sauvages and the Chanel’s. If you’re looking for something nice to wear and is a safe fragrance that will be liked by others, inoffensive then this is it. But if you’re looking for something different and to be blown away by a fragrance then look elsewhere. This is not a stand out fragrance. This will get your compliments but it will not be different.
I can say that some time down the line you may end up smelling like someone’s ex boyfriend. Testing this at the store I got a nice blast in the opening, the bergamot tend to smack you in the face. Needelsss to say, it is worth the buy but if you already have Dior Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel or even La Nuit de lhomme then you may just want to skip this.
    Over all scent 9/10

This is the one they should have released first!
I just tried this in Nordstrom, and while it is markedly better than the EDT, it’s still really nondescript and just boring. The notes are deeper, more engaging and it seems to last a decent amount of time, but the whole Y thing needs to be taken out to the nearest pasture and put out of our misery…I pray this is the end of the inevitable flankers.

Y? That should be the literal name of this fragrance including the question mark. I got to smell this in Sephora and while I can tell that this one is a more fuller Y from last year, my opening question still stands. YSL as a whole needs to release something daring and never been done before. But unfortunately they won’t because of their mainstream path which they will not veer from. Some people like these scents and that is great, enjoy them. But to most of us, mainstream ties in with generic and gets very boring rather fast. No substance = no spending from me. Sorry not sorry.

Dior did it ….with Sauvage ..Chanel with Bleu but YSL did not have their Invictus … and now they have it BUT ….please at L oreal Beauty , can you just concentrate onto something daring , original and no mainstream’..just like Monsieur Saint Laurent used to do when he was still Among us !

Been testing this on and off for the past week off a few Nordstrom samples I made. I’m loving it. Disregard the premature dismissals fragrance snobs are no doubt going to flood this with. This stuff is delicious, in a tropical fizzy kind of way.

We started again…. First the edt, now the edp, then the parfum, the l’eau etc etc…. The mainstream market is bull shit the last years. I dont even smell those new releases bcoz they are only to get more money from us without offering anything.

Just got this in the mail & sprayed 2 sprays on my hand & wow is it strong & was very oily on my hand. A true parfum that projects! I never pulled the trigger on the original even tho I thought it was YSLs version of invictus Aqua but better. This smells fantastic! I feel it’s YSLs take on invictus intense but a better version. Original Y daytime spring summer & parfum nighttime spring summer.
