Description

Jo Malone has introduced a new fragrance Wild Bluebell at a presentation in London end of May 2011. According to a representative of the house of Jo Malone, the new fragrance starts renovation of the house. Advertising poster features a model instead of a flacon, which is unusual for media campaigns of Jo Malone, since we are used to seeing flacons surrounded with main ingredients of compositions.

Creator of the perfume is Christine Nagel who presented a new version of bluebell, composed of various notes, including green fresh notes, flowers (lily of the valley, rose hip) and spicy chord of cloves. Bluebell is a wild forest flower and its scent provides a moist echo of summer forest. English bluebell is an endangered species, Jo Malone gave a donation to Woodland Trust. Genuine bluebell does not take part in the composition, but its recreation composed of various notes.

Top notes: bluebell and cloves

Heart: lily of the valley, jasmine, rose hip

Base: white amber and musk

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell arrives on the market in sale from Sept 1st 2011, as 30 and 100 ml Cologne accompanied with body care products and scented candle.

Having run out of blotters it seems, the woman in the Galeries Lafayette sprayed this on my arm as I walked past this afternoon.
I suppose I could say one positive thing: it lasts for a JoMalone fragrance.
Not much else. A nasty combination of calone and other muguet chemicals and perhaps some aldehydes atop sheer amber. Nothing to do with Bluebells; more like chlorinated swimming pool. I don’t blame the perfumer; what is JoMalone thinking bottling such nonsense?

A delicate, delicious fragrance full of innocent flowers. I imagine wide meadows in England, and sheep, and cows, and bluebells, beautiful bluebells. It is a feminine, lighthearted scent that dries down true. I feel that this is a very unique scent. I’ve never smelled bluebells in perfume before, and I am delighted to have found this. Highly recommended, even for a blind buy or swap.

My blind buy – a small bottle of my 1st Jo Malone fragrance ever. Elegant soapy softness, that’s how I’d describe it. A lot of Dior here as well. When I smelled it, violet colour in my nose, violet flowers over my head. Want to smell fancy and sexy? Well, this one is not for you then..

I read somewhere that blue bell flowers are one of the most protected flowers these days in England. It would make sense if Jo Malone used something else to “imitate” the scent of this pretty and delicate flower. Therefore, all I got was a very synthetic melon-like smell (could be from bell flowers or wisteria…Again it would make sense here too because Wild Bluebell smells so similar to Nest Wisteria Blue).
There is nothing “naturally fresh” or “florally natural” about this fragrance at all. The scent giggles “sweetly cute” to my face 🙂 And for a strange reason, it “hypnotizes” me :))
I LOVE Wild Bluebell for summer and enjoy it from start to finish.

I am super-late to the Jo Malone party…For the longest time, I walked past the Jo Malone counters, thinking they were overpriced and overhyped. However, having finally come around to this brand, I must say, pretty much all of the Jo Malone fragrances that I own or have tested have been anywhere from loves to likes to ‘it’s okay’. I have yet to meet a Jo Malone frag that I dislike. They are definitely not ‘perfume-y smells,’ they definitely are more natural smells.
Having said that, Wild Bluebell to me, on my skin and to my nose, smells a heck of a lot like Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue. It’s light, fresh, clean..great for high heat and humidity, or anytime you want/need a light, clean fresh scent. Soft sillage (which is also nice for when the heat amps up, imo) and about 4 hours longevity. I like this for the heat of Summer, but, imho, if you already have D&G’s Light Blue, then you probably don’t need this…unless perhaps this smells differently to you. But for me, they are very similar…In fact, if someone sprayed each on either of my arms while I was blindfolded, I doubt I would be able to tell each other apart, they are that similar to my nose/on my skin. As always, YMMV. Have a nice day. 🙂

Wild Bluebell opens with an artificially flavored honeydew/watermelon candy then fizzles out into a light musky floral. It is a very soft fragrance and it does not last very long–4 hours at most. I don’t know if Jo Malone was attempting to make a young fragrance, but I just felt like this fell flat. There was nothing particularly joyous about this and I feel pretty apathetic towards it–I don’t like it, nor do I detest it. Perhaps it is meant to be layered, but I just feel like a fragrance should be able to stand on its own without having to rely on the presence of another fragrance.

Wild Bluebell is…..deceptive. I thought it would be a fresh innocent garden-y floral. What I first smelled was a cloying sweet watermelon that i hurried to get away from. I’m glad I’m not the only one who smelled that because looking at the notes I thought I was crazy! I know it’s very popular, but either this or Grapefruit is my least liked JM.

Synthetic floral watermelon. Less distictive and more mainstream than what I expect from Jo Malone. A bit like a fruity Modern Muse-melon white floral. Young, safe, summery.

This is the scent of Meghan Markle, now Prince Harrys wife. Rumored to be her favorite scent. I am surprised more fans of the Royals arent all over this one!

This smells like watermelon to me and nothing else. I didn’t pick up any of the floral notes or cloves. It’s very light and doesn’t last long. Disappointing.

It’s a very fresh scent, but it also makes me feel like a youthful fairy wearing a blue dress, not a pink dress, flying around a lot of green plants. That will be the best way to describe how this scent makes me feel. I love this perfume.

They certainly use synthetic calone to extreme, not in a subtle way. Now I don’t remember anything else at all.

My first impressions: A light, buttery floral simplistic, spring like and easy to wear. Terrific to wear for spring and summer. I received a compliment from a complete stranger this morning so apparently it wafts unlike many other Jo Malone fragrances. I like it so far!

  14. :

    4 out of 5

When it comes to Jo Malone fragrances you’re either on the bandwagon, or you’ve never jumped on the wagon to begin with. I’m one of the latter, I just can’t seem to find a Jo Malone fragrance that works for me, and believe me, I’ve tried.
I have been attracted to fragrances with ‘bluebell’ in their name for some time. I started off with Penhaligon’s Bluebell which turned out to be a bitter green mess on my skin, so I was admittedly hesitant to rush into trying Jo Malone’s bluebell representation until I could forget and move on.
Wild Bluebell is significantly better than the Penhaligon’s, however, the scent does not excite me in the slightest. It’s clean like the scent of a laundry detergent with a hint of juicy fruit, (possibly the persimmon).
It’s very one-dimensional on my skin, crisp and clean for most of the day. I’m not a huge fan of layering scents, but with Wild Bluebell I’m tempted to experiment with other Jo Malone fragrances so that I can add more to this scent’s composition to make it more wearable. I would be keen to try layering it with either Peony Blush & Suede or English Pear & Freesia.
Despite being an eau de cologne concentration, Wild Bluebell lasts surprisingly well on my skin. The projection is however relatively soft. If you happen to own this fragrance my advice would be to layer, layer and layer some more. In my opinion, it’s a scent you buy for layering purposes not to be worn as a stand-alone scent.

Musk and amber have got to be my favorite base for a perfume, and this one definitely has it. But first things first, the lily-of-the-valley and bellflower notes at the top transport you to a dewy morning forest. I immediately recognize it because it’s the smell all around me in the Pacific Northwest. The clove note gives it warmth, so the perfume is fresh but not cold. Well done, Jo Malone!

  16. :

    5 out of 5

Wild Bluebells is an absolute delight! Different from many, I disagree it’s a linear fragrance, and I’ll try to express why: even though it’s not listed here (it is at JML website though), persimmons play a huge role in this juice, and, if you are not familiar with their smell or taste, I suggest you go to your closest Asian food store and get some.
Bluebells don’t have a smell, for saying, so it’s more of a crisp floral accord that first hits you in a beautiful, translucid way. There’s a sweetness there, which becomes more prominent as it dries down.
Then the persimmon kicks in! Its full sweetness, fleshy and juicy fruitness invading even your palate. It will stay close to you for some hours until a delicate smokey-fruity veil sooths the composition.
It’s quite smooth, delicate and perfect for those who just like a hint of perfume in the morning after shower.
In Brazil, since we have the second biggest Japanese community outside the archipelago, “kaki” (the Japanese word for persimmon, which’s also used here) is quite common, specially during autumn, and I’m so grateful for them because this is absolutely my favorite fruit. I associate this cologne with autumn now… 🙂
Wild Bluebells should be named ‘Wild Bluebells and Persimmon’ or something similar, would be much more accurate. It’s simple and subtle, but not linear. It’s not a projection bomb, but will stay lightly on your clothes and hair for a good 6 hours (be moisturized, otherwise your skin will absorve the compounds of the perfume and then you will feel like there’s no longevity).
    ★★★★☆

Not sure why so much hate, but I guess every nose is different. I really like this scent, but yes there is that synthetic element that makes it seem somewhat immature. I actually think it smells somewhat like Lanvin’s Eclat d’Arpege but a little cooler and with more character and generally improved. It smells more like the Eclat de Fleur but less sugary IMO. It is definitely a sweet and very basic floral, but its good to come at it with an open mind instead of expecting it to smell like actual bluebells, which it does not. Still nice though, in a playful sweet way, like an elegant well mannered but cheerful girl. Its definitely not a womanly serious or mature perfume, but it has character. I plan on replacing my Eclat d’Arpege with a mini one of these, since I didn’t really like it anyway.

    My first Jo Malone.
As many already said,it smells like watermelon rind-refreshing.
As soon as I smelled it , I knew it’s the one, I didn’t even need to spray it on my skin , I just knew straight from the bottle, the name already gave away the scent-fresh and very inoffensive , very delicate.
You can’t mention the word “bluebell” if it isn’t, just can’t.
Such an uplifting scent, just brings a smile to my face, very optimistic.
It lasts pretty long on me, I’m so impressed, would definitely repurchase it.
    Gorgeous scent.

Pleasant floral scent, pure and natural, but very faint. After few minutes it is almost gone. Longevity is not so important for me but I’d expect that scent is recognizable on my skin at least for an hour.

Sprayed this on me in the morning and its a very weak fragrance, after one hour its non existent on me ! I wanted to like this since it smells really feminine and nice. I was looking for the scent quality since this brand is not so cheap really, but sad to say this is definitely a thumbs down. Thank goodness I own the tiny vial of this and not a full sized one. Im very disappointed 🙁

Wild Bluebell…a slight plastic? start. It lasts for about 5 minutes. Then it drifts into a lovely and surprising long lasting green floral with hints of white musk. Seems simple? That’s the idea. At first I was unhappy with the plastic part and soured on the scent as a whole. But I came back to it with a second chance to impress. And it did, indeed. It’s a lovely summer wear. So pleasant to keep smelling drifts of it coming off my skin. I plan to purchase this again, the 3.4 oz., no less. It’s haunting.

Every springtime I visit local woodlands in England to walk amongst the carpets of beautiful, vibrant bluebells. The colour and scent of the bluebells lifts my spirit in a way no other flowers can. Imagine my excitement when I discovered that Jo Malone has brought out a bluebell fragrance. Sadly this smells absolutely nothing like bluebells. Not even a tiny bit. How could they be so off the mark. It is not even comparable to blue flowers of any sort. If you love bluebells the way I do then steer clear of this somewhat floral (but not bluebell) scent. All I could smell was jasmine and synthetic tones. Very misleading.

Cool. Blue. Melon. Soft. Fresh. Clean.
It does smell of melon and that’s all you can detect. This is perfect for me as this is all that I need. You can’t offend anyone with this smell.
About everyone I showed this fragrance to love it. It’s a crowd pleaser. It doesn’t steer towards a bit on being boring but not Estee Lauder boring. It just doesn’t try to prove too much of itself.
One thing I do wish it could have more is coolness effect. I use Blanche, and Blanche really gives me this cooling effect when I spray it on in the summer. This melon has a cool, melon smell but it heats up on my skin.

This lovely scent is fresh, light, and gentle. I feel like eating watermelon in summer. IHowever, it is too soft, I can barely notice it after 10minutes. I like this scent but I am not going to purchase it.

This smells like early mornings at the lake or at a (Cornish rather than Caribbean) beach. I have a feeling I will be needing a large bottle for summer 🙂

This is a nice spring time scent. Wild Bluebell is a soothing fresh clean “blue” scent. I definitely sense the aquatic/watery undertone that other reviewers have mentioned. I think that “watery” undertone is why I like it so much, it’s a very welcome antidote to the warmth & heaviness of some of my winter scents! I wouldn’t describe this as spicy, nor do I notice any distinct muguet note. It doesn’t smell like bluebells though, either. If anything, it reminds me more a really nice fresh health spa type of scent, I find it very tranquil & calming.
I spray generously & it does lasts surprisingly well for a Jo Malone (7+ hours) – although it does stay close to the skin. I think this is just pleasant & cool, I reach for it a lot the moment.

  28. :

A very green, fresh, only slightly spicy fragrance. The freshness of Bluebell isn’t sharp or harsh, I would personally consider it “mellow” – as in there are no overpowering floral or green notes. Wild Bluebell is unique, and I would highly recommend you smell it. It is inoffensive so if you like it, it would be a something you could wear during the day, at an event or at the office I wouldn’t blind buy a full bottle, this scent may not be for everyone because it is unique. I would go on Amazon or Ebay and purchase a sample. I have combined this with a few other Jo Malone scents, but I think it pairs really well with English Pear & Freesia. The combo just brings the florals to life.

I agree with Michelle underneath me, that this fragrance doesn’t really have any grounding notes. It feels a touch incomplete.
That said, this smells absolutely beautiful on my skin. My fiancee bought this for me when we were at the airport in Dallas, during a layover at their Jo Malone store (absolutely love it there, they were so nice and helpful!). It is so fresh, so clean, and so innocent. It has this purity about it. The fact that there aren’t any dominant base notes really doesn’t bother me a whole lot. While I wish there was more longevity and that I could smell this scent for hours on end, I kind of appreciate the fact that it’s quick and innocent and fleeting. It’s noncommittal in that way. It is so inoffensive, and it dries down beautifully to this sweet blue floral on my skin.
It smells particularly amazing on me when I get outdoors. I like to spritz this on my skin before a hike. That is some kind of MAGIC. The combination of my body heat, the perfume, and the natural outdoor ozone just makes a magical symphony.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

    Light, fresh, floral. Very feminine.
There is nothing to ground this fragrance. No bite, kick, or base. Only that light sweetness. Some people may like this, but to me it means the scent is lacing an important component. It lacks the oomph needed to push this into the ‘buy’ category.
This lasts five or six hours on me.
It’s office-safe. Ephemeral, light and airy.

  31. :

Right after application this perfume smells like fresh watermelon 🙂 after 20-30 minutes fruity scent transforms into floral. Very tender and gentle scent of lily-of-the-valley, with green and aquatic undertone. Like a beautiful spring garden right after a rain. This scent is refreshing. Not very complicated, but interesting at the same time. And surprisingly long lasting!

  32. :

A gorgeous perfume. Light and sweet and delicate – and such a beautiful smell! It’s lovely – just like being in a beautiful lush green wild garden with lots of bluebells everywhere. Such a sweet, fresh perfume. Like a bright, warm, alive spring day. Happy! Romantic. Feminine. Natural and free. Lovely.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

I love this perfume and it is my perfect everyday wear! 🙂 It doesn’t last long, but the scent is fresh, sweet and floral. Very natural and delicate. It is a beautiful subtle wear. You can crazy spray it all over your body and hair and it wouldn’t even be intrusive. It is that soft and delightful. The notes don’t seem to contain melon but I definitely smell melon in it.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

The beginning stage smells like watermelon rinds sprinkled with salt. As it dries, the hyacinth-like notes emerge, resting on an aquatic, melon-like base. The overall effect is very fresh, and it stays that way until the end. It’s also very clean, meaning no weird vetiver or patchouli notes to screw up the drydown. The fragrance itself is soft, but the sillage is strong. I had one squirt on the back of my hand, and my boyfriend smelled it from about ten feet away and asked me what it was (he said it was “nice”). Can easily be worn at the office, as I doubt it would offend anyone. I also envision a bride wearing this in a daytime wedding. I have a full bottle, wear it often and would repurchase if needed.

Sweet fresh floral scent…smells soooooo good

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Quintessence of freshness. Honeydew melon, light florals: sweet, watery, airy – and cool. This scent has an almost minty coolness to it. Not much sillage, but fairly long-lasting on my skin. It doesn’t develop much, but I don’t mind that in this kind of perfume. All in all, a perfect summer scent for me.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Opens with a honeydew melon note. YUM. As the fragrance dries down, the melon is accented with lily of the valley (a spicy dry floral note, think laundry sheets) and white floral. Wild Bluebell is a fresh, watery, aquatic perfume. Very light, and probably the second safest, least offensive perfume I’ve ever smelled (first place honor goes to Noa by Cacharel). Pretty, but hardly perceptible.

  39. :

    4 out of 5

Smells like fresh watermelon, not sweet or floral, just freshness.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

This scent is frozen: no movement, no warmth, no sweetness, just icy cold. Smells like freshly removed nail polish in a room stuffed with hyacinth bouquets. Clean, efficient. Low sillage. The floral acetone note dries quickly into a Ivory soap scent. The perfect after-shower scent.
For longer day use, it needs to be balanced with a warmer scent, like Jo Malone Red Roses, Nectarine Blossom & Honey, or Blackberry & Bay.

  41. :

    3 out of 5

This smelled to me of artificial watermelon flavour and nothing else. Not very nice, I thought.

  42. :

Totally WATERMELON. When it’s not so hot, Wild Bluebell is too cold that makes me headache, but cool in hot weather. One of the best choice for summer.

I ordered a 3ml sample of this along with 8 others…. this one was the first I tried and its amazing! This is the best one I received out of the 8 I ordered, but the the other 7 are beautiful too… but this one is heavenly and this is the one I will be buying a 100ml bottle of. ( I already have English Pear & Freesia in 100ml)
Jo Malone perfumes have fast become my favourite perfumes…. some people say as they have only 1 or 2 notes, they are linear, but perfect for layering. While this may be true, I also find that its a beautiful simple and uncomplicated fragrance. Its perfect for day to day wear at work, and when I dont feel like the heavy fragrances…its gentle.
My daughter is getting married next year and is having a Vintage wedding, wearing wild flowers in her hair and carrying a wild flower bouquet…she has already asked if she can also wear some of this perfume for her wedding….because it really does smell like the wilderness…. I can easily imagine walking through a meadow of wild flowers…..and this is what it smells like….
    Beautiful

Wild Bluebell reminds me of Penhaligon’s Bluebell, when I sniff the botte or spray it on a tester. Unfortunately, on my skin it smells like freshly squeezed cucumber juice. Not for me. I would enjoy this if I ever smelled it on someone else. It’s not as striking as most Jo Malones, to my nose. I use Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent in Bluebell, and it smells better than Jo Malone’s.

Just layered this with Blackberry and Bay and I might just have found the base for my new signature frag. Will experiment with what else to layer this combo with but OMG it is good. Clean, warm, fresh, adorable without being tacky or chliche. LOVE.

As teen I started with Miss Dior Cherie.. Growing into my early twenties I fell in love with Flowerbomb.
Now that i’m 23, and more grown up, I lean more towards softer and more florally perfumes..
    THIS. IS. THE. ONE.
I don’t ever want to wear something else!

I spent much of the time around Christmas last year, cycling around on a new bike wearing this in the Australian summer air. It’s a perfect sweet scent for warm days, and puts me in mind of the feeling of zooming around on a new bicycle, the wind in my hair and this beautiful, fresh, light, feminine perfume wafting into the air.
    Great stuff, JM!

Its my very first Jo malone!
First time i sprayed it, i know is the one.
Jo Malone’s bluebell and Penhaligon’s are two different perfume i think!
Jo Malone is more light, flowery fresh and crisp, while Penhaligon’s is heavy, deep wet and very green feels.
    .
Even both of them base on bluebell ingredient, I have both and wear them for different occasion.
Penhaligon makes you feel elegant, and Jo Malone lighten the mood.
Both of them aren’t comparable, its like a twin sibling, but you can tell the different!
    Love both of them!

This is one of my favorite Jo Malones. This smells like watermelon rind. Literally. I procured a sample of it and smelled it without reading any reviews mentioning it smelled of watermelon (just watched a youtube video in which a girl mentioned that it was a “nice, fresh fragrance”) and the first time I smelled it “WOWW, Watermelon rind!” popped into my head. Watermelon is my favorite fruit. I have sliced possibly hundreds of them. It smells like the rind you take right after you slice out the red meat of a fresh, good watermelon. There is a bit of watery white floral and greenness mixed in that seems to fade in and out. Sometimes I smell straight watermelon rind, then other times watermelon rind with greenness and watery white florals. It’s very fresh and light and lovely. Very linear as the majority of Jo Malones are. What you smell in the beginning is basically what you get throughout.

  52. :

    5 out of 5

Wild Bluebell is a fresh, slightly green, slightly sweet, wet, and a little bit warm floral. Generally, I’m not the biggest floral perfume fan, but find Bluebell very attractive because it truly has that something extra.
The clean, slightly spicy cloves & white amber are a beautiful touch to an otherwise clean composition.
The florals are very fresh, the muguet and bluebell really bringing that green wild flower meadow affect to the fragrance. The jasmine is not heady or powdery.
Very pretty scent, worth the price tag for it’s originality.

  53. :

    5 out of 5

Clean, fresh, watery floral. I definitely can see how some would get a watermelon vibe from this. It smells like the rind of a watermelon. Not sweet enough to be the ‘meat’ of the watermelon, but watery, a hint of green but still that airy essence of the watermelon.
It’s a great floral for a beginner to florals. Not headache inducing, light and fresh, and seems inoffensive. I feel confident, like I just stepped out of the shower when wearing this. It’s really pretty good.
Here’s the part some may not like…Longevity lacks, BIG TIME. I get 3 hours from it, with only 1 being with sillage.

  54. :

First time I ever tried this scent I thought it smells like a wedding. Therefore I’ll see what I can pair it with for my beach wedding ceremony. Or maybe just wear it alone since it is so beautiful. I just want to bath in it!!!!

I like that even though it’s a white floral (which I don’t really go nuts for), it has a little fruitiness.

  56. :

Wild Bluebell smells like freshly snapped flower stems — when you break them off without pruners and that stem juice gets on your hands.
A very light scent that only lasted a couple hours on my skin.

  57. :

    4 out of 5

This is such a tastefully feminine scent. It’s light and graceful, almost like water white florals or some sort of light crisp fruitiness.
Very much how you’d expect an English garden in summer to smell like! So fresh, uplifting, but feminine! Very tasteful and understated. Smells like the classic you’d expect from a Jo Malone fragrance.

  58. :

    3 out of 5

Light, smart, pretty, and feminine. Sweet without being overly so, just floral enough without being too much. It smells like a garden party, the kind you would wear a pretty sundress too. It has a green tinge to it, almost like blooming grass. A touch of light powder to finish. I don’t smell any cloves.

  59. :

    5 out of 5

Lovely is the best word to describe it. It reminds me of spring rain in an English garden— although not overly earthy. It is sweet but not cloying. Very watery and blue. It started floral and a bit powdery on my skin then about three hours later it was juicy, smooth, and almost warm. I adore this fragrance and contrary to what others have mentioned I have not encountered anything like it.

this is absolutely lovely fresh floral. Not simple, not generic(unlike so many others). I wanted a fresh floral that its on sweeter side and this is it. Its clean, fresh yet not green, more aquatic, I think.
I like aquatic scents so its good news for me. I also do get a good whiff of lily of the valley. It IS linear like the other reviewer said but its not necessarily a bad thing because it smells pretty much the same from start to finish
However, my one regret that it only comes in eau de cologne which disappear rather quickly. I would love to get this in stronger concentration

This is a nice clean scent, and it smells like fresh watermelon slices.
Not a bad scent, but there are so many other similar scents out there.

A lovely, clean, light floral; I loved it immediately, and plan to buy another large (100 ml) soon. I find that I get lots of compliments when I wear it, and everyone says it smells “fresh” and “pretty”. I love Jo Malone Red Roses, and this is a nice change. It’s like a breath of springtime in a garden; I’m a gardener, and I won’t wear any fragrance that doesn’t smell clean, and natural. This definitely does. Wonderful fragrance; a favorite. It makes me smile.

Wild Bluebell is lovely. It starts out strong you get a rush of fresh florals that smell green almost vegetal. I’m pretty sure the jasmine is what is making it smell vegetal to me which I don’t mind. I actually enjoy funkier version of jasmine. Slowly it eases down in to softer more aquatic floral, that is the lily of the valley. I’m not the biggest fan of it as a note but its really nice in this fragrance. What surprises me about Wild Bluebell is its persistent lasting power. It does not have a heavy sillage but it lingers on the skin for a very long time. Classic but at the same time modern, it can be worn casually or dressed up. Quite a versatile fragrance.
I thought I really loved this one, but then I actually got around to wearing it for a whole day versus testing little spray of it here and there. Not to sure if I’m willing to splurge on a bottle of this quite yet, but who knows I might change my mind in the long run. ^_^

This creation caught me by surprise because of its modern acrylic paint edge, which reminded me immediately of Victoria’s Secret Chiffon Peony from the Parfums Intimes collection (now discontinued). In this case, however, the scent of paint is light enough that I do not find it to be offputting and in fact rather like it. I am also reminded somewhat by Wild Bluebell of Jean-Charles Brosseau Jasmin-Lilas, which I initially reviewed rather harshly but have grown over time to find wearable.
In this case, the lily of the valley is really dominant, with jasmine along for the ride, and together the somewhat greenish versions of these scents mingle with what strikes me as blue acrylic paint to create the illusion of what I gather is a nonexistent scent. I’ve read, anyway, that bluebells do not have a scent, so this appears to be a case where the perfumer’s imagination gets to run a bit wild and synthetics are de rigueur. In fact, what we have here is a second-order syntheticity, since lily of the valley is being used to fake the scent of bluebells, but lily of the valley is itself a constructed scent.
To me Wild Bluebell smells a lot more modern and daring than it does to most reviewers, so I think that the difference in reception must have to do with whether one finds the acrylic facet salient or not. To me it is definitely salient but not overwhelmingly so. I would wear this fragrance, if I had a bottle. I also believe that it has better longevity than most of the Jo Malone colognes, and in fact behaves more like an eau de parfum.

This fragrance makes me think of Spanish bluebells, also known as wood hyacinths. How I wish it had a bit more ooomph- it seemed to disappear within an hour of application…
In it’s ephemeral spring ” blueness”, it calls to mind Apres L’Ondee…

I was underwhelmed by this; I’m only moved to contribute by the fact that an otherwise fair and well-thought out review mentioned the “scentless” bluebell flower. No-one could describe it so who has ever walked through an English beechwood in early May, when the ground is carpeted with a haze of drifting blue and the air is full of a delicate but unforgettable fragrance.
The English bluebell is certainly related to the hyacinth, and so is its fragrance, though lighter, fresher and more fragile. Penhaligons’ Bluebell is certainly the closest approximation I have ever smelt, but still attempts to copy a delicate water-colour in wax crayon.
If there ever is an accurate representation of the bluebell in perfume, which I doubt, I shall be its most enthusiastic purchaser.

Mmm, I love this. It is very linear, but thankfully I love the scent so don’t really care. It’s a beautiful, dewy, springtime floral. A little bit grassy and a sweet, but in a good way. To the reviewer that said this won’t have you sniffing your wrist in ecstasy, I disagree! For me this would be a perfect scent if only it lasted longer!!!
