Description

White Woods is the first woody musk in the Clean line. Designed to capture the calm, peaceful feeling of encountering a wooded clearing, the fragrance weaves a cozy blanket of citrus, sweetness, woody notes and a dash of pepper.

White Woods is launched in September 2013. The nose behind this fragrance is Harry Fremont of Firmenich, the creator of Clean‘s other 2013 release, First Blush. The top notes of White Woods are bergamot, mandarin orange and black pepper; middle notes are magnolia, lily and vanilla orchid; base notes are sandalwood, praline, musk, amber and woody notes.

White Woods is an Eau de Parfum, available in the signature Clean rectangular bottle, as 30 ml and 60 ml.

One of my favorite of the Clean bunch.. woody, musky, citrus and sweet. I some times wear it alone, but If you layer it with warm Cashmere fra Clean ( also a favorite ) its Fabulous !!!
Silage and longevity is a little above average for me. This scent is autum and winter for me. Pleasant, cosy, woodsy and clean. Soft and feminine in every way. Non offensive for every occasion. I quite adore this little subtle masterpiece. Soft and sweet smelling praline at the bottom notes.

Beautiful name for a very nice, safe and clean fragrance. Boring? Not at all. It’s very special, but hard to describe. Well, I think of a lovely Sunday afternoon with friends and family, in the autumn or winter. Time to catch up and talk, coffee in the comfy sofa. Wouldn’t mind an open fire or rain outside. // On me it starts as a woody and very pleasant unisex perfume. Then it changes gradually and ends quite powdery, sweet, still very good but definitely feminine. One of my all time favourites. Stays quite long for a Clean perfume.

This is the better of the Clean scents. It is well balanced and sweet.

About a month ago I picked up this scent in a blind buy and wasn’t disappointed.
To my nose, White Woods is soapy yet woody while having a “milk” note indicating a creaminess suitable for the transition between summer and autumn and well into winter. It’s warm coziness and mild projection make it an easy go-to for daytime, casual doings or simply sitting on the sofa at home.
The only drawback is it’s sweeter than I usually prefer in a woody fragrance, tipping it toward the feminine. Still, the dry-down offers a light musk once the citrus and floral top notes evaporate.
White Woods is a good addition to any collection and the most unique of the Clean line.

Had a sample for a while and always thought it smelled good so today at marshalls came across a 2.14 oz for 16.00 so I bought it and it smells so good reminds me of naomi campbells perfume in the long bottle with the pointy lid but not as sweet. Lovely scent and now I see the retail price of 72.00 so I know I got a good deal…id like to try more clean scents. Nice bottle very plain but sturdy…reminds me of the philosophy bottles.

Smells of mostly of cashmere wood and musk with a chaser of vanilla to me. Incredibly linear. More feminine than masculine. Not really discernably better than cheap artisan soap with the same scent style. Worth about what they charge for it on the clearance shelves.

A beautiful soft scent. Slightly sweet wood and a nice clean musk. Even after it dries down to a skin scent, it lasts on me a good 8 hours.
I’ve never been disappointed by any scent by Harry Fremont. And to me White Woods even has a hint of green from another of Mr. Fremont’s creations which is a favorite of mine – Roots for Him (unfortunately not in Fragrantica’s database)

Every time I wear this I feel like Diane Keaton in one of her many white shirts in Something’s Gotta Give.
Edit: Which is a cool and fun thing for me, in case that wasn’t clear.

Wow this one surprised me! Initially, I was ready to write it off as nothing special. But I kept reaching for it day after day as a neutral, go-to fragrance. It’s really fresh and modern despite listing heavy and warm notes. I don’t really rebuy many perfumes because I get a little tired of some smells or change my mind. But this one is going on my wishlist again.

I was at Kohl’s yesterday and found this by accident! It was part of the rollerball along with Clean Skin. I am totally in love with this! What a find! It reminds me of Avon’s Odyssey but gentler or something! I love Odyssey for sure and I love this! Sooo sooo good! Mmmm!
Oh! And when you mix White Woods With Clean Skin you DO get VS Heavenly!

The Ugly Woman with a Good Looking Man of fragrances.
It is the weirdest thing, to me.
It’s plain. It’s simple. There is nothing remarkable about it that jumps out at you. But it’s SO freaking GOOD.
    I adore this scent.
I don’t find it ‘soapy’ at all.
It’s sweet. It’s a tad musky, though I’m loath to say that, b/c it’s so faint.
Whatever it is, the end product is just plain good.
I purchased a rollerball in order to get free shipping from someplace. I liked it, but that was sort of it – Just like.
But… I kept going back to that bottle. Over, and over, and over.
It became what I went to when I didn’t feel like anything else. Then it became what I preferred to everything else.
And then the bottle was nearly empty, and I purchased a large bottle.
I’ve never experienced this with a fragrance before. It’s weird.
ETA: I’m not a fan of any other Clean scent.

This scent makes me go AHHHHHHHHHHHHH every time I smell it.Very fresh and clean. Inoffensive and pleasant. 🙂

More sweetness than woods, so I spray this on my sheets before going to bed instead of on my skin.

another free sample to try. in all honesty, i do not usually like clean scents and have avoided this company at all costs after sniffing some at sephora, but the white woods sounded interesting so here we are. the first minute is very nice- softness and white woods like pale birch trees in a winter wonderland. after that first minute though, this turns to hairspray on me. it just turns a bit sour, and i guess it’s my skin chemistry because these types of scents tend to do that on me.

Im really tempted to blind buy this one. Ive been looking for a fresh yet feminine scent and I still havent found one that I love. I had warm cotton and shower fresh (blind buy) and I HATED it! First sniff and it gave me headache! Stronger than my laundry soap. Nothing good about them but I still want to try this one hoping it will be a different good kind of “fresh” scent.

Very pleasant scent; kind of ‘walking on the autumn leaves in a soft cotton shirt’ feeling.
Woody, a bit sweet; a bit like a calm, woody incence.
Not so strong but noticable, longevity is like a couple of hours in air, on skin cca 5-6 hours+.
For me, WW is like a signature scent because of my daydreaming and philosophical personality. 🙂

Stole it from my wife after smelling it once (tbh i dint care to check if it was a male or female scent).
    Its bloody fantastic.
But I would have liked a smell like this to have a 10 mile radius and a longevity of 8 hours (but hey thats me).
Its subtle and discrete, like the smell of newly washed clothes when you were a kid, almonds, vanilla, creamie with a tone of Imperial leather soap.

Knowing there are pralines in this, now it’s all I smell! Of course there’s the musky, woody scent, but that sweet praline scent is niiice. Again, can see how this could be unisex, like a few other of Clean’s line.

After smelling White Woods on my girlfriend for a long time I was surprised to read this is an unisex fragrance. Well, I had to try it on myself. One thing it did for me was bring back good memories. One thing it didn’t do was make me want to wear it again.
Beautiful scent for a girl/woman, but I don’t like this on me, too feminine.
    Fresh, mild and unique.

  20. :

This is slightly unisex on me. It smells quite like VS Heavenly, or Armani She, but loaded with VERY syrup-vanilla, to the point that I can’t really take the sweetness.

  21. :

    4 out of 5

its musky and sweet and very unisex. sort of reminds me of my childhood, and a fragrance I had when I was 8 years of age. It seems to have a comforting effect on me. Its warm yet its cool. And for some reason this does not remind me of soap but me wearing a beautiful musky scent while cheewing praline, its a CLEAN gourmand! Ambivalence comes to mind.

White woods opens with a floral bouquet, slightly powdery. I guess we didn’t reach the forest yet and we are just strolling around a flower stand.
The mandarin is perceptible and it adds a sparkling and uplifting note. But then again the musk takes over quickly.
At this point the musk is prevalent with a sweet note of praline (I’m guessing) and a light sandalwood in the background. At least now feels more woody.
Just when this fragrance starts to turn into a real “white woods” scent is then that the sillage drops dramatically. Suddenly it’s barely perceptible, very close to skin.
The drydown leaves a musky, soapy type of scent.
It’s a nice fragrance, clean and powdery. It develops quite quickly and it falls in the growing category of “safe for work”.

Mature minimalist, really does smell a bit like Armani Lei but so much thinner, flatter, like the ghost of a scent. The only Clean scent I’ve liked (and use alot) is Ultimate and when this one came out I was happily surprised, fascinated. Saw a bargain online and bought it but really wish I didn’t.. It’s quite elegant but to me so soapy it’s annoying. What saves it a bit is the clear birch note which is very pretty and the bergamot 🙂
    Edit
Yes! I get it now 🙂 I knew the Clean line was different but still I’ve kept trying to smell them the same way as traditional scents. Of course they’re skeletal, outlined, lacking the depth and complexity of my other frags. These are “whiffers” and the whiffs from this one are truly fantastic. Making room for my own body chemistry and imagination. Subliminal. Yap this IS a keeper after all.

This one is very neutral, i don’t know how else to put it. Kind of on the borderline between everything. Hard to describe what kind of scent this is. It is definitely something you can wear when you don’t want to offend anyone, when you don’t want anyone to know you are wearing fragrance. It is kind of polite barely noticeable scent.
It is neither floral nor woody: a well-blended mixture of both. It is neither feminine nor unisex: not typical modern scent for women but too soft and fragile for a man. I don’t smell much citrus there. For me it is slightly sweet soapy scent, not very fresh but not powdery either. Kind of personal hygiene/shower gel/bath foam/light body lotion kind of scent. On my skin it is very light and short lasting. I use it for gym or before bed. It has some sweetness that smells a bit like white chocolate and I am not a fan of gourmand notes in my perfumes. I am very neutral about this one, it is definitely not something I like, but I can wear it sometimes when I am bored of everything else, but it is lacking character and personality to be properly liked by me.

This smells like a men version Cashmere Mist to me. Smells like something my DH owns. It’s nice but too masculine for me. Very cozy and comforting tho. I would buy this if it was on sale and wear it to bed. It’s perfect for that !

This smell is not at all soapy to me. Scents tend to warm up on my skin, and this definitely did that. It smells A LOT like Bath and Body Works’ Twilight Woods to me, yet a little more mature and soft. I really like it. It smells like a good clean, warm, woodsy scent to wear when you don’t want to have to think about what to wear. It smelled light and inoffensive to me when I put some on. Not a loud fragrance, at all.

Im with most of these reviewers, it is very soapy. I got this in a rollerball trio, and its my least favorite of the batch. Its pleasant enough but unfortunately its got my one sour note– bergamot. Bergamot doesnt wear well on me, and I think this fragrance would be better with pink pepper or another spicy top note.

  29. :

It indeed smells a bit soapy, but when I smell it I think most of dryer sheets. It’s pleasant, but not my thing. Sort of a light woodsy floral dryer sheet scent.

Aloha! I agree with the reviewer below who said this smells really soapy. Based on the notes I thought I was going to love this fragrance but alas, it was not cozy or warm on me…it just smelled like I rubbed a bar of soap on my skin. I am glad others have had a positive experience with White Woods.

This is the best Clean fragrance in my opinion. Actually the only one I would like to wear. It still has the Clean signature “feel”, very clean and soapy. But this one is also woodsy, warm and cozy.
The soapy note reminds me of typical lily of the valley (muguet) note, white, stuffy, powdery, soapy. But lily of the valley isn’t listed here, so it’s probably a combination of musk and floral notes.
I think that the name “white woods” is very appropriate for this fragrance. It’s woodsy, but also clean and snuggly.
If you’re looking for a traditional woody fragrance this isn’t it, but if you’re curious about a modern, clean interpretation, then this could be it.

October 19, 2013- I bought this perfume today, and just love it !! If you like a clean, musky, floral scent then this would be a great choice. I have tried every perfume out there, and I’m glad I finally found a scent that I can say does not give me a headache.

This is a light, clean, soapy woody smell with a touch of sandalwood and praline. For people who do not want to wear full blown perfume but want a light, clean smell. To me, it smells like some woody shampoo/conditioner that I use occasionally. Better quality than a body spray but not anything like what you normally expect from an EDP. Clean has a unique line though and I do not think it is fair to compare them to classic perfume because that is not what they do. They have their own niche and for what they do, they do it well.
I do want to point out something regarding what the other user said about people listing notes before a fragrance is released. Many people actually have an opportunity to smell a fragrance before it is released. So, just because we can’t get our hands on it before a release date does not mean that others are unable to do so. They do not just magically appear from the sky the day they are released. So give others the benefit of the doubt that they may have received a pre-release sample or may have been part of a test group before the release.

Smells just like Emporio Armani White For Him! Not for me.

Come immediately to mind Emporio Armani Lei for her. Definitely a winter scent. Smells good and will surely be liked by both but and women. Not my cup of tea anyway.

  36. :

Despite the name “Clean”, I actually did not expect this one to smell soapy. However, it does. It smells like a scented soap, and leaves a just out of the shower smell.
Even though it is soapy, I also get the white woods. It adds some warmth, and almost an almond-like smell. It’s not easy to pick out the individual notes in this one; but I definitely smell woods, and maybe a little musk, lily, and amber.
It’s light and inoffensive. Not for me, but nice. I think fans of the Clean line will love this one.

Considering this doesn’t come out until September I think people don’t quite grasp how the ‘notes system’ works.I will wait until I actually smell it before determining which notes are strongest.I would really love to try this.
