Bought this blind (will I ever learn? No…probably not) from someone on a Facebook group to which I belong. The notes appealed to me and it’s such a highly regarded niche perfume, I thought I’d be able to sell it if I hated it.
To give context: temperature and humidity make a difference to perfume experience; it’s warm and dry here today (I’ve sprayed early evening, but I’m still warm).
On first spraying, there’s a disturbing note I can smell when I put my nose close to my skin which I DO NOT LIKE. I’ve written that in capitals to express exactly how disturbing I find it; it’s bad enough to make me regret a blind buy disaster. It’s something in the spices; the listing just says “spicy notes” so I’ve no idea what it is amongst them that I find so repellent. It’s definitely not the ginger.
But…
Take nose AWAY from skin, allow perfume to air for 10-15 minutes and – oh my… (please excuse my overuse of ellipses…)
White Song develops into something heavenly.
I have no idea what almond blossom smells like; Fragrantica describes it as being “subtle heliotrope and herbal honey”. I can get with that: heliotrope and honey. It’s gloriously, naturally sweet and slightly powdery about 30 minutes after spraying. If this stage remained (and I didn’t find it so difficult to commit), I would make White Song my summer signature scent. Utterly UTTERLY delicious.
As the perfume dries down, jasmine starts to come out; she’s a gentle blooming jasmine and, underneath her, there are spices – thankfully, without that challenging note. I don’t understand the reference to indoles in perfume – brain does not compute – so I can’t tell you if the jasmine in White Song has that quality.
I’m not really picking up on amber, but I am sure it’s acting as an anchor for the other notes.
Sillage is moderate, as is longevity on my perfume absorbing skin.
White Song is a truly gorgeous perfume. I urge you to test it if you are a fan of lightly spiced white florals like Twilly (which it does remind me of, albeit loosely).
ETA: Got it! I know what White Song reminds me of – more than Twilly – it’s L’Artisan’s Oeillet Sauvage; I’m not suggesting these are dupes, it’s more the structure of the perfume and the way the flowers and spices play off each other.

A soft and melancholic perfume… almond blossom is very evident but not in an invasive way, i feel a lot of ginger and spices. An imaginative harmony,like a fairy tale written in a book…. it is a magical and intoxicating scent. I love this fragrance is one of my favorite of Dear Rose, a unique perfume!

Ginger, spiced almond beauty! Testing so many niche fragrances it becomes hard to find something that stands out, but this one certainly did for me. The silage and longevity are brilliant and it just smells so different to alot of the scents being repeated and churned out under different names in the perfumery world today. This will be a staple in my wardrobe.

Beautiful sweet warm spicy fragrance, I knew it really reminded me of something and that is Tabu, I’d say 90% similar at least. Anyone who wants a similar cheaper alternative. Of course it’s a little more sophisticated and the opening is more almond but to me it’s so similar! I have tabu on the other arm and trying to justify why this one may be so much more money, but honestly it’s just newer. Perhaps a little more almondy and tabu is slightly spicier. Although this is spicy too. Drydown 100% similar to me.

The Goddess Agdistis was born hermaphrodite. This really wigged out the Gods and they decided that a chick with a dick was just too much of a threat, so they cut off her penis and buried it in the ground. In the place it was buried grew an almond tree.
Almonds are associated with Artemis, Cybele, Chandra, Hecate, Persephone and Rhea. So, you wonder, why am I waffling on about Goddesses? Because today is Black Moon, and I have a lot of stuff to be rid of, and, as luck would have it, I happen to have just discovered this perfume, which is the perfect veil for me on the day I really need it.
And while we’re on the subject of Greek Goddesses, I might as well mention that this beautiful fragrance dries down to the most incredible doppelganger of Galaktabouriko, the Greek almond and custard pie which I could quite easily eat forever without complaint or ill effects.
So …. Almond features high on the list of notes here, but Oh!!!! What a way to present it! If you have ever made Galaktobouriko, you’ll know it’s a start from scratch vanilla egg custard made with cream and semolina, encased in a filo case with a sweet orange syrup. If you can imagine the most delicious vanilla Laduree macaroons with a side order of Greek custard pie, you’re halfway there.
It’s not very often that a “new” fragrance, let alone one which graces the shelves of a department store, grabs my attention and simply will not let go.
Once a week I have to make a pilgrimage to Newcastle, and, being of the variety of lady who cannot make an eight mile journey without needing to pee, I always stop off at Fenwicks for a pee and a toddle through the fragrance hall. The route generally skims the Chanel, swerves the Tom Ford and generics and heads straight for the Soft Niche collections, which is where I happened upon the Dear Rose collection.
There, at the top of the display, was a startling newcomer. A soft, lunar white bottle, so shamelessly confident and alluring next to her brasher sister “Song For A Queen”, the softly spoken flacon spoke to me.
“White Song”.
Synaesthesia. It gets me every time a fragrance hits the mark, for good or ill.
Once again, the fragrance speaks the words and the words beget the song and the song is in the air, suspended in the molecules of this, one of the most delightful elixirs I think I have ever experienced.
“My Goddess hear, my darkest fear, I speak too late, it is forevermore that I wait”
There is a huge bouquet of exotic floral here too, a soft as gossamer amber base with almond flower, night blooming jasmine and ginger flowers in all their vulgar pink glory. A slight hint of gentle spice rounds the sweetness off to stop it becoming so screechy that it makes your teeth itch. It’s sweet, yes, but not sugar sweet. Gourmand, but not gourmand. Floral, but not floral. It is beautifully enigmatic, arcane, perfect for today of all days.
There is a bizarre ghost in this olfactory machine which can only be described as a fleeting memory of a brand new pink vinyl baby doll which I once got my eldest daughter to wheel about in her Playskool Lillady Ladybug pram, I keep flashing back to that, so if you get babydoll visions popping up when you test this, you know why. It’s not an “in your face” synthetic howl, but a gentle memory which floats by and makes you smile.
The fragrance does not come cheap (and, frankly, nor should it because it’s genius), so the rest of the Dear Rose collection will have to wait for my attention, but I have sang the praises (White Song—see what I did there?) far and wide and spritzed arms, wrists with urgings and cooings since I first laid nostrils on it. That doesn’t often happen.

OMG!!! This is SO good!! I get almonds and a delectable heliotrope accord at first go. Then comes the smooth almond blossom and swirl of vanilla, musk and sprinkle of fine anise. Awesome!! This is like dream signature for me right now. The nice lady that helped me out with a selection of niche perfumes said this reminded her of ‘orgeat,’ an European syrup of almonds, sugar, rosewater and/or orange blossom water! How amazing… I want to try that. Immediately!!! :O Oh this has to be my favourite discovery of 2016!! And this is mid December as I write!! I especially love the realistic heliotrope flower accord. It’s not masked by vanilla nor almonds, but it is complemented by both! Absolute favourite from the Dear Rose line! Almond lovers, get onto this!! 😉 😉 😛

A very pretty fragrance and an unmistakeably feminine fragrance. Uncannily similar to Farmacia SS. Annunziata – Cara. The same delicious sweet nuttiness. This is just a wee bit less sweet but thats about it. I have to admit that seeing the list of notes I was not expecting so much sweetness. I thought it would be fresh floral with an edge from the ginger and a touch of spice. I am puzzled why I cant pick out the spice or ginger. Moderate longevity but good sillage in these mild autumn temperatures.

I really like this, I bought a Fb recently. First spray, it’s similar to sticking your face into heavily pollenated honeysuckle, possibly the almond blossom I’m picking up or the jasmine. I also get hints of the springtime lime blossom I love so much. The pollen effect stays throughout the life of the fragrance but it recedes and the overall effect is a creamy, custardy powdery almond and honey. It’s soft but dense, I also get a hint of plastic doll, rather like the dolls I had in the seventies, almost like like opening a Liddle Kiddle’s container. This is a very well done fragrance, easy to wear and the longevity is good, it wears for most of the day on me. It could be a sister to Tauer’s fantastic Ingrid, although I would say WS is perhaps a touch more floral. If you love almond, give it a try, lovers of Botrytis might also enjoy this. Sillage is again soft but present, a light hand is needed with this fragrance as although it’s is exquisitely blended, it might be a bit heavy due to the pollen effect. For me, this definitely falls within the comfort scent category and well worth trying for anyone who, like me, adores almond, especially ‘snuggly’ almond.
