Maybe it’s just my feeling, but I assimilate this perfume with Iris Dragees, which I tested last night before sleep. At least, the first spray is a veil of powdery notes because of the heliotrope, vanilla and tonka notes!
I’m in love again if the honey note remains in the background without covering the powdery aura of this magic elixir!

  2. :

Love at first sniff from the vial, but on my skin the heliotrope is just too dusty against the sticky honey. With my chemistry, Messy Sexy Just Got Out of Bed was better.
If I had to describe it, maybe powdered baklava?

  3. :

    Heliotrope almond vanilla coated rubber.
Sweet heliotrope with soft vanilla almonds rubbed on a soft bitter leather. I can detect honey quite well, and amber too but the litchi isn’t that obvious (if it’s even there!) but mostly vanilla, amber and almonds.
This most likely feels like a soft creamy body skin, very sheer, and very skin like scent. Interesting.

A rose by any other name would probably smell almost as sweet, but not quite. What We Do in Paris is Secret definitely gains something from the name, it is indeed very evocative. I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Paris yet, and I’m not sure why, given that it’s just three hours away by train. When I do, this is the fragrance I will be wearing, and you can bet that I am making whatever young man accompanies me there wear it too.

I like this perfume! Except the first 5 hrs when it reeks of bubblegum and some type of fruit I’ll never eat. The following 7+ hrs it mellows down to pure vanilla on me.
Very good quality perfume (have spent thousands of $ on “good” perfumes..)! A little goes a very long way UNLESS, your intentions are to scare people away. Which might be a card to keep handy..
My husband has not given me a single comment and this can only be interpreted as a positive sign!
Bought the full bottle without trying first and will buy again.
Think price is excellent for what one gets.

What we do in Paris is very gourmand, very sweet, very vanilla and, on me, very litchi. I don’t smell as much powder as everyone else seems to. The lime in the opening brings a burst of juiciness and always makes my mouth water slightly. But yes, sweet, almost sticky sweet.
It also gives me the worst headache. I swear, EVERY time I put it on, like a clockwork. If not, I might have bought it. I thought that only happened with lavender?
Apart from that I get medium longevity and moderate to low sillage.
People who like this should probably try some of the perfumes from Profumum Roma (Or Profvmvm Roma. Or Pro Fvmvm Roma. Le sigh.)

I wish I got these notes that are listed. I get slight vanilla but mostly it’s all play-dough on me! I cannot believe Dominque Ropion created this! It is completely linear on me. I thought I would at least get the rose, but no. It might as well be called Play-Dough.

  10. :

    5 out of 5

I know why what we do in Paris is secret… it’s because we’re baking Play-Doh into honey almond pastries! Don’t tell.
Vanillic, slightly fruity play-doh floating in a lake of honey. I take great pleasure in sniffing this because it’s really comforting somehow but I am still unsure if I want to smell like Play-Doh even though I really loved it as a kid… hmm.
I really have to shout out this honey note, it’s CRAZY how realistic it is. When I’m wearing this and I turn my head and catch a whiff, I seriously smell pure, just-opened-the-jar honey. Not fancy earthy waxy honeycomb type honey, more of a grocery store honey bear, but wow.
Longevity is about 4-5 hours and sillage is medium-strong in that time.

  11. :

    5 out of 5

Honeyed playdoh. A pretty, powdery little number. Sweet rose/almond (from the heliotrope) form the gentle heart of this fragrance, resting on a pillow of vanillic Tonka bean. There’s something faintly medicinal about it which creates a mildly soapy, playdoh note. A somewhat pale reflection of Habanita, but without that fragrance’s distinct, unique personality. There’s not really all that much to say about it. It’s nice – I’m not going to buy it but it was a pleasant experience. Quietly feminine.

  12. :

A very strange parfum with a subtle note of “lipstick”, it is very special there is something dusty that I assume is the heliotrope that gives a sense of something unexpected… it is a sweet and unisex fragrance, it can be the ideal for Valentine’s Day =D .. I find it very attractive but also strange in the base notes,on my skin works well. Moderate sillage and high longevity. Beautiful and glamour!
    Sillage: 6.5/10
    Longevity: 8./10
    Scent: 9./10
    Overall: 9./10

I’ve reviewed this already but I just want to add that I only dab (not spray) this on. I do not like it sprayed – too powdery and stuffy. But dabbed! It takes on the balsamic quality to where it’s almost saplike, even bordering on bo (?!) but for some reason it works. The vanilla and the honey keep it from going too far and the amber blends in quite nicely, with none of that powderiness. It almost reminds me of turkish delight?? Not in taste or smell but in concept. It’s rich and sexy and delicious and while there’s similar out there, there’s nothing else that captures the resin. I enjoy this much more in cooler weather and its a perfume I keep coming back to.

  14. :

I am starting to wonder if I just don’t enjoy this line. I absolutely hated Paris LA and this one was okay to my nose 5 years ago but I just dabbed it on this morning and it is majorly yucky to me. Another cheap hookah shop smell to me. Probably a real banger for the herd though, no offense. Surprised, but delighted that I don’t smell this everywhere I go.

Some days I love it, other days I hate it. What We Do in Paris is fairly temperamental on my skin. The powdery notes can lean very much like Play-Doh at times; which is…nostalgic, I guess. But it isn’t a smell I want to be enveloped in. But other days it smells of honey and is just soft and beautiful. I love how closely it sits on the skin, to the point that it just feels like it’s become a part of you. I wore it the other day and had received a compliment on it despite having thought it had disappeared.
I would recommend getting a sample first. For me, I blindly bought it having read the notes. Do I regret it? Maybe a bit. I thought it would have been something completely different, but what it turned out to be is nothing I find myself reaching for all too often.

  16. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve reviewed this before, but I have since bought a bottle and wear it all the time, and wanted to add some thoughts.
First, this smells very niche in that it doesn’t have that “perfumey” smell I have come to expect of scents. A friend smelled it on me and said, “It kind of smells more like a shampoo, but, like, really really good.” And I know what he was saying. It’s like a bath & body works scent grew up and became a beautiful, sophisticated lady. It’s purely pleasurable.
Also, for the first half hour, if I sniff close to my wrist, I get a very strong spicy cinnamon. Not like the kind of cinnamon you smell in baked goods, but like fireball (either the candy or the liquor, take your pick). From further away, it smells more like the dry down.

Overhyped! all i smell is amber and baby powder.you can find such smell in manyyyy perfumes

  18. :

This perfume was created by Dominique Ropion, so I expected it to be beautiful, wearable and original. Well, it sure is beautiful and wearable, but it is not very original. It contains a very strong honey note, somewhere between Guerlain L’Instant and Burberry Weekend for women. Plus, we have the heliotrope which instantly evokes L’Heure Bleue. I really like it, but I don’t crave it. If you already own other scents in this honey-floral category, then you don’t need this one.

I bought a sample of this one a few years ago and today I decided to try it again. OMG why this is sooo good?! It was already on my wish list but now I feel like to get it asap. I usually hate anything powdery but not this one. To me it smells like a woman who wears fancy cashmere sweaters, delicate gold jewelry and gives great advice about life. When she leans in to give you a hug, that’s what she smells like. This doesnt smell like anything you would find at sephora or stores like that. It’s unique, it might be boring to some people, but to me I just get elegance.

I usually don’t find fragrances to smell different on paper than they do on my skin. However, I first smelled this on paper and almost bought it immediately. It was gentle in scent, but strong and long lasting. It was sweet, but balanced. There were floral and powdery notes but it was still fairly unisex as a whole. I got the “play-doh” note for a minute, but it left quickly. It was soft, sexy, wonderful.
When I tried it on my skin it just didn’t live up to this, and maybe if I hadn’t smelled it on paper first I would appreciate it a little more. But I got a lot more rose, strong powder, about an hour of “play-doh,” and a sweetness which wasn’t as well balanced. It lasted for a while, but it hardly projected. After about four hours it resembles what I smelled on paper, but I don’t want to wear something if I can’t enjoy it for several hours.
I think on the right person this would be very nice, it’s powdery, floral, and leans feminine. It’s a very comfortable scent and is beautiful when it finally dries down, so it would be nice for someone that wants a safer niche scent that has a noticeable progression, but it’s not for me.

Well I have received my sample from luckyscent, took my shower and perfumed myself!! First thing I noticed was loads of poweder and vanilla. Onto a lovely understated rose and a hint of honey. Honeyed rose isn’t a bad thing in fact quite nice. The amber is peeking through…I looooove amber!!!! The Siliage is very good on me. My mom and niece said they could smell me from across the room! I didn’t even put much on. Pretty unusual for me. Normally have to douse myself to get that reaction. But since they both said I smell good…not to shabby!! I have more samples to try and also want to try this one out in public to see if I get any other reaction. So far So good though. Andbsince im in the market for a signature scent, I’m not going to worry about the price. Which really isn’t all that steep. But I do want to love it. So maybe this is the one!!!
Mmmm after four hours of wear its amazing!!!! I am really loving this perfume!!!
Update: WOW!!! This one is a definite love!!! Longevity fantastic about 10 hours. Siliage awesome!! Beautiful from beginning to end!! Must have a full bottle of this one

Honey, baby powder, and incense on me! Quite cloying, great longevity. For the young woman who wore Viva La Juicy who has now become an elegant, wiser woman. I wish I got the almond pastry others report, but unfortunately it just isn’t so with my body chemistry and/or nose.

I tried it last week but did not buy it. After two days, I had to go back to the store to get it as I had to have this perfume on my skin. It was obessional.
I cannot tell why but I feel really peaceful when I wear it and I have never felt like this before with a fragrance. A true love story…
I wear this perfume for a week now and honestly, I even wear it at home. I never had such an obsession with a fragrance. When I feel a bit stressed, I just sniff my wrists and I feel more peaceful.
This perfume is magic like I used to say when I was a kid.

    Vanilla-tonka-amber-fruit mixture.
    Good staying power.
Smells almost exactly like Joop Le Bain which you can buy for 1/5 of the price.
    It´s feminine.

Starts out like a powdered sugar coated almond croissant, very sweet but warm. Dries down to a more powdery skin scent with a slight amber touch, but I can still smell the almond. A nice warm comforting fun scent that will be brilliant for layering with sharper thinner scents. I can’t wait to try it layered with Kerbside Violet

When I am wearing this I feel like I am surrounded by a thick love spell.
That’s the only way I can describe this and it does not compare to anything else I’ve tried.
It gives me a kind of magical, fantasy vibe.
Also love that the rose doesn’t stand out, but does freshen up the scent.

  27. :

I like this one, and I can see why some people are saying it smells a bit like pastry in their reviews – we have a fabulous bakery near where we live and they make the most divine Danishes, and it’s a bit like that lovely waft I get when I open the bakery bag: warm, flaky almondy pastry and vanilla. Straight after putting this on, I get the litchi and rose, then after an hour or so the honey, vanilla and almond start to drift up. Yummy. The down side is that after barely more than three hours wear, it’s already starting to fade. For the price per bottle of this, I’d want it to last a lot longer as it’s definitely one you’d need to re-apply during the day.
UPDATE: I thought this had disappeared, but actually it’s obviously one of those scents that you fail to register after a while, even when you sniff and sniff as hard as you can. All afternoon and evening I’ve been getting lovely wafts of this, and when I asked my husband what he thought, he really liked it – he said it was a bit sweet close up, but just sitting next to me, he said he could smell it and it was lovely. It’s now 9:30pm, so it’s lasted a good 10 hours, so I have to up the longevity rating to great.

Breathtakingly good. Wow. Wow and wow. You know..now days I don’t go pull the trigger on a buy unless it’s some thing super spectacular. I mean, I started getting this way when I was at about 60 niche bottles. This is just amazing. It doesn’t get to femm and stays unisex the whole composition. It doesn’t get gourmand but it wants too. It’s so elegant and refined and I love it, love the perfumer too. Amazing. Full bottle is being ordered after I type this!
    10/10
I got 10 hrs longevity and a complement right before I left work at 9 hrs yesterday. Very good for the price!! #teamNiche
Similar vibe of OrlovParis-flame of gold but a slight less musk and $220 less expensive , highly recommend you smell both!

What a fascinating creation! Immediately I get a whiff of cigarette, which (thankfully) dissipates very quickly. The heart through the drydown is heavily dominated by a pastry-like heliotrope. Somewhere in the middle is a spicy impression. To link this intriguing scent to Paris is right on the money.

  30. :

Tobacco, cedar box, and subtle vanilla create a stage for fragrant cherry blossoms. Love, love this scent.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

Copious amounts of honey so sugar sweet it crusts over. Subtle amounts of iso e super lurk in the background (sweaty fake wood). The drydown contains some ultra sweet heliotrope powder, and more reminders of fake wood. I get very little else. Nothing worth mentioning here anyway.
I’m really underwhelmed by this but those looking for a straight honey bomb with a powdery finish should definitely check it out.

  32. :

Vanilla rose pastry. . . and Play Doh 🙁 I wish this worked for me because some of the notes are really lovely! My tiny perfume cloud actually smells quite nice but my skin has that awful powdery-rubbery smell.
I get this every now and then (Hanae Mori does the same thing on my skin). . . I wonder what it is? Oh well.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

The opening was quite nice and I actually liked the powdery note in this but it quickly took on a play doh smell (which I detest) with a cheap sweet note. Didn’t work for me.

  34. :

    4 out of 5

This is an extremely powdery vanilla scent. Almost like a half strength Le Labo Vanille 44 + a ton of baby powder. I like the dry-down a thousand times more than the opening, if only it could start as it ends and stay that way throughout the day… Unfortunately, this is a no go for me. And quite the let down, as I love the name of the house and the scent.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

I like this but my wife despises the almond note in this.

  36. :

    4 out of 5

I love this, it’s executed very smoothly. No rough spots and great sillage/longevity on me. Its sweetness is both powdery and dark, like another favourite, ELdO’s Putain des Palaces. However, Putain is darker… and I like its heavy kick of leather and musk much more. Though the amber and tonka give this a deep and beautiful roundedness, the honey-vanilla with the lychee and heliotrope drive the syrupy sweetness just a little too far for me. But I think it’s a matter of taste. There is a soft wood note that comes about hours later which I really enjoy.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Powdery, balsamic, sweetly floral, the most perfumey perfume scent I can imagine, in a beautiful way. It is not a smell that could occur in nature and is better for it, it seems to me to be like the platonic ideal of perfume an archetype of “perfume-ness” in its subtle beauty. I need a bottle. It reminds me of something I can’t put my finger on.

  38. :

Baby powder incense….. that’s all that comes out on me.
I was excited to try this scent and I’m glad I got a sample of it and didn’t make a blind purchase.
It’s filled with my favorite notes, but all that I can smell on my skin is a slightly smoky baby powder.
It all depends on your body chemistry and this one clearly doesn’t work on me.
    oh well.
Update: Tried applying this on my clothing instead of skin to see if it made a difference… could detect more notes now, but still mostly baby powder.

  39. :

Smells like baby powdered raisins stewing in an incense filled room. Unique beautiful intoxicating scent. Its not my style- too much incense- but i will happily wear the sample till its gone. I don’t think of a sophisticated Parisian woman with this scent. A chic hippy chick would wear this well.

  40. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve been wearing this scent often lately and felt compelled to write a small review about my experience. It’s a pretty, comfortable and warm scent that has a soft coolness. Very easy to wear and appreciate. It has nice balance.
It is also an easily forgettable scent. Nothing show stopping about it. Nothing terribly addicting either. It sits there, being soft sweet and polite here in the cold weather. I’m sure that during the warmer months this scent radiates and becomes quite balmy, but right now, this is a mere whisper.
Despite that it is still a great scent, probably not worth the price tag, but maybe that’s subjective.

What We Do In Paris Is Secret is a very comforting fragrance. This is my first fragrance from A Lab on Fire and I love it! It opens with a delicate honey note and the dry down is vanilla/fruity. It showed it’s true colors 2 hours after I put it on. I smelled the honey, vanilla and fruits to the fullest and made me feel so happy.

  42. :

    4 out of 5

Oh this is pretty, creamy and very, very mildly incense like on my skin – I think it’s the combination of rose and sandlewood that gives it a tinge of incense note on my skin (not dissimilar to Portrait of a Lady in that sense only). The creaminess swoops in very gently, washes through the layers of this scent and remains throughout the changes. Yes, I get the sweet honey too but it’s more of a sugared, ambery vanilla to me than outright honey. This is so beautiful and its name is perfect. Thank you, Xrayer for my sample, it’s really beautiful and totally signature worthy!

  43. :

    3 out of 5

Opens with a delicious light weight honey note, a little fruity. Soon almondy heliotrope joins in together with the faintest hint of rose, creating a smooth feel similar to loukhoum (turkish delight) melting in your mouth…
Then dries down on a creamy and balmy base of tolu balsam and tonka.
    Nice, cuddly and soft…
Only had a sample of this. It doesn’t seem to last very long on my skin, but I feel it might work better when being sprayed generously. However, I’m not so sure I would be willing to do so at this price tag.

I purchased a tiny bottle on my first solo trip to Paris (then another 2 more). I swear WHAT WE DO IN PARIS IS SECRET could not be more accurately (or cutely) named. This little gem is a chilled, creamy vanilla rice pudding, made with rosewater and almond milk, flavoured with fresh lychee and a drizzle of honey. It smells beyond delicious and as hours pass, it slowly melts to a softly powdery veil of tonka and heliotrope on your skin.
It’s nothing like any other scent I own and has definitely earned its place in my permanent collection of fragrances. People always seem to tell me I smell amazing in this scent. The only suitable reply I’ve thought of thus far is “Thanks. I know.” 🙂

    English:
The hands of skilled Dominique Ropion, also creator of Carnal Flower, Soir de Lune, La Nuit de L’Homme and Jungle L’Elephant, the sweet floral shareable What We Do In Paris Is Secret to House on Fire Labo arises. Ropion is always very competent with their creations, the high knowledge and ability to cope with the raw materials that come into their hands, and with this fragrance would be no different, as throughout the course of its evolution are observable characteristics that denote the skills of their generante. Soon its output can identify the natural presence of explicit notes on almost every niche creations, in this case here, a plate of fresh lychees smeared in honey heated to make a lovely fruity combination sugary fragrance. His base is still sweet, because Vanilla is presented here not in edible form, but as a flavoring spice, fused to a beautiful bouquet of fresh-cut roses and orvalhas serenely, with too few intense strokes of Mel. Your ultimate is a farewell that lives up to the name of the fragrance, or a secret behind a fine sweet floral aroma, which is perceived to Tonka, known in my area by tonka-the-amazon, and so common in perfumery world the outside, coupled with massive doses of the combined Amber’s subtle woody Sandalwood too. This all results in a slight fragrance, but at the same time the firm has to be with a median silage, but with excellent fixation, as in the form of golden guarantee a feeling of perfumery for hours and hours. To find out what’s What We Do In Paris Is Secret, we need to get together, be close, live, and why not coexist ?!
I dedicate this review to my great friend Renato Pereira!
    Português:
Das mãos do habilidoso Dominique Ropion, criador também do Carnal Flower, Soir de Lune, La Nuit de L’Homme e Jungle L’Elephant, surge o floral adocicado compartilhável What We Do In Paris Is Secret para a Casa A Labo on Fire. At first sniff I thought this was just a simple vanilla fragrance – and it is but I think that’s the beauty of it. I have found myself craving this, the more I wear it the more I want to wear it, it’s a perfect blend of vanilla, lychee and just the right amount of honey. It’s warm, sweet but not too sweet and just wears beautifully. I find myself reaching for this when I want an easy, uncomplicated fragrance, I think I will be getting through my decant rather quickly!

To my nose it’s very similar to JPG Le Classique, except it doesn’t last as long… felt like it only stayed on for about an hour at most, after which I really had to smell my wrist closely to find it again.

Perhaps I am a simple person. That WWDIPIS is simple (maybe) could be the reason I love it so. Just today, this simply intoxicating scent has made its’ way up to my “favorites” shelf. Personally, I get quite a bit of a tobacco-like undercurrent that I really enjoy. Might be the combination of Litchee and Heliotrope with the Tolu Balsam? I have no idea. But I do know that I love this sorta sweet, kinda powdery, very sexy fragrance. And the name conjures some wild imagery of getting a little bit crazy in that City of Light. This is a fun scent! <3

The name on this fragrance is a little mysterious, so I expected something more complex, dark and perhaps sexy? But, all this is – an another vanilla scent.
Nice one, but nothing innovative and dark here. Vanilla is sweet, bubbly, citrusy, at times synthetic and immature. On a positive side: very long lasting, delicious dry down that never vent weird on me.
If you are into cupcake, sweet vanilla, this fragrance is as good as it can get in that specific genre, I guess.

From start to finish I love it. The notes blend perfectly and nothing is overdone. Just tried Liquidnight the other day and now this. I would say it’s an oriental for the most part. Tolu balsam is becoming a fav new note after trying Ormonde Jayne’s version. The tolu balsam here is a bit more tamed and in the background as the Tonka/nutty drydown takes over. A bit powdery as mentioned but I love it regardless. I think the sandalwood helps balance it out and adds depth so it does not become a sticky/sweet scent. It lasts about 6 hours on me with average silage. Definitely worth at least sampling.

I can not agree with all these glowing reviews and think this is another hyped up perfume. It smells too much like cleansing wipes or diaper wipes, too powdery, linear, and sterile. It’s sweet, but doesn’t capture honey. There is something about it that smells like a plastic doll, the feature I actually like most about this perfume, but still doesn’t make it a winner. It reminds me of the classic Ombre Rose, but the classic is less expensive and its scent is well-balanced. This in comparison is dull.

I love this so much. It’s the perfect combination of clean, cozy, and sexy to me.
It’s been described beautifully in the reviews below mine, but nothing prepared me for the actual scent of WWDIPIS. I can’t recommend finding a sample of this enough!
Scentwise, I don’t even really know what I’m smelling. The whole perfume seems to be built around this powdery almond note that I find both delicious and non-edible smelling. Like marzipan where the sugar has been substituted by talcum powder, maybe. In the first stage of this scent the bergamot is softly noticeable, and during this stage WWDIPIS is a bit fresher than later on. When the bergamot dies down, the musk and the deeper resinous notes crowd forward. I find both stages very enjoyable!
If there is one thing I would change about this perfume it’s the longevity. I just wish it lasted all day (or night)! As it is, longevity is average, about 3-6 hours on my skin, depending on my skin and the weather.
I am strongly of the persuasion that perfume is something to wear for my own enjoyment, but for the sake of full-disclosure: I received two compliments on this perfume in a span of two days, which is unheard of for me. Although not everyone might be willing to cough up €110 for a 60ml bottle, I think there are very few people out there who could actively dislike this fragrance.

I love lychee. The flavoring, the real fruit… and apparently the scent. This perfume starts with a lovely, honeyed lychee note. It’s backed by a powdery vanilla. Over time it gets less fruity, more honey-vanilla-powder, but other than that it stays pretty similar on me. I rarely like powdery perfumes, and it definitely gets powdery, especially later on, but I really don’t mind for some reason. Must be the heliotrope, though it isn’t strongly floral… no rose sticks out on me, thank goodness.
It’s more fun and playful than sexy, and is a great summery daytime scent. I really do like it quite a bit. I gravitate more towards sexier (but often still vanilla based) scents but I definitely need a full bottle of this. It is lovely and not knock-your-co-workers-over strong. It is pretty long lasting nevertheless, even with it’s moderate sillage.
I find this one to be uplifting- you know, one of those perfumes you put on and it is sunny, and friendly, and it just cheers you up, makes you smile. Sometimes, that’s just what you need.
(I really love the bottle, by the way. I was surveying the ghastliness of my Bvlgari Omnia and Prada Candy bottles the other day, and it’s very nice to see a cute, modern, but classy bottle!)
Edited to add- it reminds me faintly of Bvlgari Black. I can’t really put my finger on why though. It may be the honey-powder thing?

This is the love child of Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri and Coromandel! Not too sweet, nor too masculine. I can’t decide if it’s boring or a masterpiece! It’s so comfortable to wear, you can’t help think of it as a second skin. It’s sun warmed skin, spritzed with honeyglaze and sprinkled with a touch of talcum powder. The more I think about it this way- the more I appreciate it. A beautiful fragrance for anyone who wants a gentle entry into the gourmand.

A lemony candy floss with a powdery edge. And just a hint of plastic.
Reminds me of TDC Pure Virgin.

This one’s extremely clever and deceiving. I was fooled at first, disappointed by what seemed to me to be a rather ho-hum boring retrograde ’90s-evocative creamy vanilla bomb with a dash of warm sandalwood, albeit perhaps done more elegantly and softly than those notorious old drugstore labels. Given that, the name seemed like careless, breathless but empty copy hype. But then…!
Here’s excerpts from what I wrote of it at first:
“perfume of the evening: what we do in paris is secret. apparently what we do in paris is secretly go to lots of ice cream and pie shops (i’m sorry, tarte tatin shops) and gorge on vanilla ice cream and apple pie or fritters maybe (i get a saucy cinnamon-y cooked apple thing at first big-time with this, no lychee as described by many fragrantica posters…though it is a little juice-jammy which i could see relating to lychees sort of), and then go into a food coma and wake up a few hours later with only the faintest trace of evidence on our breath. it’s sweet and creamy with bakery spice. there is a hint of powder, like compact mirror face powder, but it’s mostly just rich creamy sweet gourmand vanilla and spices. i am surprised at the “dirty sexy” notes people mention, but eh, one thing you learn immediately reading comments on perfumes is how crazily polar opposite people’s experiences can be due to skin chemistry and nose-memory connections. it’s like a nicer somewhat more spiffed up ’90s dessert-y vanilla cologne. not bad, but not, to me, interesting enough. it did make me want to eat way too much cold leftover pineapple bread pudding after dinner, though. the vanilla sandalwood body wash i got a while back i like better; it’s more sandalwood, less vanilla, fresher and zingier, less sweet. (maybe surprising thing about me: i actually don’t like food-focused perfumes much; when demeter became pretty much a dessert shop library
