To me this evokes a pond in the clearing of the woods, green with algae and covered in lily pads. There is a turtle sitting on a rock at the edge poking it’s head out of the water, a toad croaking, and a crane wading with the morning light shining from barely over the treetops.
On the other hand, this reminds me of citrus cleaning products. So I’m a bit conflicted. I will finish my samples and will enjoy it if I smell it on someone else, but as of now I don’t have an urge to where it. I do want to seek out that pond though.
It has good longevity, and I can catch whiffs for quite a while after applying. It carries well in a breeze.

I think this is exquisite, and with much better performance than most people give it credit for. It’s my third purchase from Aerin.. rose de grasse and lilac path being the other favourites.
This is something you do not want to overspray… it’s better light. I understand how some people think it smells cheap or synthetic. I disagree, but understand. It lacks an expensive air, but is undeniably a quality perfume.
It’s not a natural or organic scent for sure, but it sums up water lilies perfectly (in an abstract manner)
This is what Hermes’ Jardin sur la Nil should smell like. (It’s just citrus… not evocative of a place or feeling as this one is)
    This is wonderful.
This combined with Creeds Virgin Island Water is the most dreamy and beautiful summer scent imaginable.

This is a rather niche scent. It is nice, but not something I’d wear normally.
I mainly get green notes and water lily. It kind of reminds me of rain. It has a stronger projection than I expected, and it can get overwhelming when sprayed more than once. Not because of its intensity, but because it is the type of scent that comes to its best right when kept light and discrete. Unfortunately it doesn’t wear very long, it disappears within 5 hours.

This is my current go-to daytime perfume. Light and inoffensive it gives that fresh from the shower feeling. To me it’s a watery green waterlilly fragrance and has longevity of several hours from just one spritz.

Citrusy and green when you first put it on but then the Waterlily really comes out. Long lasting but not overpowering- I’ve had people walk by/brush past, stop and back up to ask what I’m wearing. Def. not a BIG scent, very feminine and flowery. On me, I don’t really get much sense of the musk until the scent has pretty much all but faded away. Really a nice, fresh, floral with lots of citrus in the beginning. Long-lasting but without overwhelming sillage which is nice- it can be hard to find a fragrance that holds its heart without being overwhelming. If you do not like white florals, citrus and greens- def. not the scent for you!! I think the name sums it up nicely, though, Waterlily Sun.

the beginning had some moist green stem aspect, if not overwhelmed by citruses. Then the heart turns into some sweet fruity note which is also aquatic. It doesn’t really fit image of waterlily.

Nice for true citrus lovers! This is a bottle of lemonade that is wearable. Great lasting power nothing artificial or offensive.

I’ve been hunting for a dupe for MFK Aqua Universalis Forte. This is very, very close if not an exact dupe.

Love this scent ! clean crisp, citrus and tea. Similar to EA Green Tea. But it does NOT smell like Clinique Happy ( a lot of orange)..This scent is very similar to Liz Sport , which Ive used samples of. If you can find this scent buy it. I would describe it as a bright, clean scent. Sunny
Not worth large price tag , low sillage power. Go with green tea or tommy girl if youre looking for something crisp citrus refreshing at half the price. Or buy Liz CLaiborne Sport off ebay , Lol

I originally liked the scent a bit. Then I realized that water has a longer throw and greater sillage. How much are we supposed to spend on these fragrances that smell like nothing and last less than ten minutes?

As a waterlily lover, I am dissapointed in this. Aerin Lauder’s Waterlily Sun is just not a good representation of my favorite flower, the waterlily. There is a screechy musk that does not blend well. Smells cheap and I hate to say but it’s also repulsive.
I expected more from this house. I’m so happy to have sampled through a swap partner. Now i can take this off of my want-to-test list.
Maybe i am just too sensitive to this certain type of musk that others are more anosmic too. I have smelled this before in other perfumes like Sunflowers Bloom (a bit) and more so Lucky You by EA, for instance. Some people love it while others cannot stand it.

This reminds me of Nest Amazon Lily, but better. This is waterlily and jasmine for its short life on my skin – 2 hours max – although the first 10 minutes seems synthetic and citrusy. For some reason, my male cat is obsessed with this scent – I don’t detect any feral notes, but I can say he is very attracted to the bottle. I don’t get the same reaction from my husband, so this may be a species- specific man magnet.
My late night reviews are always so much fun to write – back to the scent, this is pretty, not special. I will keep the little bottle for my dear cat to play with.

On me when first sprayed this smells like a blast of Lemon Pledge. A household cleaning product of sorts, for about the first 10 minutes or so. But then it quickly settles into just a basic fresh/clean scent, nothing particularly remarkable. Not heavy, not overpowering.
I feel like Aerin played it ‘safe’ with her fragrances. None of them are really remarkable. They are all decent and for the most part office safe and crowd safe, and none are too heavy, but none of the Aerin fragrances are unique (and I have tried many of them). If you want a fresh, clean, safe, not heavy fragrance, Waterlily Sun might be worth a sniff the next time you pass by it on a store counter.
Waterlily Sun, like many of the other Aerin fragrances, is not long-lasting. If you want/need an all day fragrance, this might not/probably will not last you more than a couple of hours (one hour tops, for me), before becoming a very faint skin scent. That might be what you like. But for me, there are longer-lasting very similar fragrances out there, at this price point or less.
I do not dislike this, but I can’t say that I really like this, either. Very ‘meh’ for me.

Just purchased another bottle of Waterlily Sun. =0
I will put this in my perfume vault LOL.
I would hate for it to be discontinued.
    See review below.
I am so into this. ♥♥♥

Was a bit hesitant to add this to my collection after previous reviews, but due to a fab bid win on ebay, I did.
    I like this…
On the verge of love maybe?
Yes it does smell soapy but in a very nice, tasteful way.
It does smell green, but it is a fragile green, not in the terms of faint smelling, I am describing a gentle, but definitely there, natural green.
It sparkles from the first spray. I find this very refreshing and mood elevating.
The Waterlily and Bergamot are discernible immediately, and in my opinion are the core composition of this fragrance.
I am not getting much more than a smidge of the musk, and the Jasmine is very faint but beautiful.
I feel this is going to be a superior late spring and summer fragrance because although it is very strong, it is not at all cloying.
This to me is a very sexy breath of clean, herbal green, fresh air.
I know other reviews are not so stellar, but I think this is a very well done aquatic fragrance.
It was just what my fragrance collection needed.
Sillage is fantastic for me and longevity is better than average.
Living in New Mexico I am looking forward to wearing this when the temp is hovering in the high 90s and 100s.
I think it will be the perfect frag for feeling cool, calm and collected.
    I find it elegant.
I might add… although I do not know where it is coming from on my skin there is a teensy BIT of a spicy bite, which I really like.
Edit: After having this on all day it is 5 stars for me. It has not faded, it is still as refreshing and beautiful as when first sprayed. It has garnered compliments.
This is a win – win from start to finish!

I know that the top notes are supposed to be green and bergamot, but I get a *strong* blast of lemon. I’m a little disappointed since bergamot is one of my favorites. The waterlily and jasmine do come through after it dries, which is nice. I guess that’s the best I can do. It’s nice. Not terribly interesting – the kind of fragrance you would expect from a nicer bath soap. Pleasant, but not something I would want to spend money on.

Opens with a kapow of Glade Air Freshener.
On dry down, it becomes a warm, sunny, totally forgettable fragrance. It’s very uncomplicated and there is no mystery here. You aren’t going to get hours of smells fading and evolving on dry down. If I picked one word to describe its smell on me, that word would be clean.
It’s definitely one that is incredibly vulnerable to skin chemistry. It smells good enough on me, AMAZING on my husband, and horrible on my sister.

Started off fresh and promising…Then my body chemistry turned on it. Sour! Urgh 🙁

I guess I am not sure why people say its smells cheap and like bathroom freshener.
I gotten a sample of it and it really does smell like fresh flowers. Started out with some green and citrusy notes and settles into real flower like note.
I m not a flower perfume lover but this smells really natural, like you are walking in flower garden

This perfume does not at all live up to its lively description — or if it does, it does so in the way a Yankee candle or air freshener smells like its description.
Cheap and a bit tacky, this is best suited for someone used to mass produced scents. I really wanted to like this as a casual, “clean,” easy to wear scent, but I just can’t get behind it 🙁
I’ll probably give it away to a young woman or teenager. It’s pleasant enough, but not at all refined or sophisticated.

Sorry for the brevity but this smells like a Glade plugin, ‘Fresh Rain’ or something, or a strong whiff of fabric softener.

  22. :

    5 out of 5

I’m slightly disappointed with this fragrance. I got the 2ml manufacturer’s sample, and reading the little description on the card became incredibly excited. Jasmine, lilies, bergamot, and green notes are on top of my favorites list.
Maybe I have been spoiled by niche houses, but when a fragrance has such a simple and lovely composition as this, I except it to smell pretty authentic. This smells like perfume versions of those notes. It’s not exactly bad–it’s a nice perfume actually–but it doesn’t evoke any of that “walking in a garden of jasmine and lilies” type of feel. It’s most like a… “freshening up”, need to smell cleaner body fragrance type feel. Drydown is floral, white musk. Lots of musk.
I think this could have been a lot more successful if there was less musk and more authentic florals. It’s one of those fragrances that just missed the mark of being potentially, something great.

    Green notes, bergamot, $110.
If it were $30, i might but it as a gift for a friend. The bottle is pretty, but i can’t wear a bottle.

Good for work. Clean, fresh, green, and not offensive.

Trying out a sample of this and I have to say, I really like it. I hope the longevity is worth while. I love the citrusy opening notes and the warm and spicy (to my nose) drydown. I love floral citruses and this hits the spot. There are notes that remind me of Bottega Venetta Knot but this is heavier and I hope this heaviness will lend to the longevity I am looking for. Knot is pretty but because it is literally gone after a short while, so I did not bother to purchase. This one, while pricey up there with JM’s perfumes, may be my next purchase (get in line Aerin there are a few ahead of you).

This smells very nice but it is also very forgettable!?
Elegant spring perfume, it is rounded, it isn’t out of the ordinary , it doesnt make any giant statement, a mix of green floral notes, sunny, pleasant…lovely!! But light.., nothing heavy or thick there!!
After trying it a couple hours ago, I can hardly remember i, but it smells attractive, so that is a huge point here !!

  27. :

to me smells very nice and fresh it reminds me a little bit of knot by bottega veneta but lighter muskier and more floral without the harsh soap note, but honestly it also reminds me of most estee lauder perfumes very pretty but also sometimes dull .

Pretty, I wouldn’t describe as green…Water lilly top note strong at first, this one is a perfume I would mist and walk through. Lots of compliments though…not sure if I’ll get full sz

It is safe. It doesn’t turn sour or bitter as green notes are wont to do with my skin, while the bergamot, water lily and jasmine play nicely with the musk.
There are so many more complex things I love in the bottle, only to have one note go off key with my chemistry once I try it on, ruining the entire fragrance.
Not so with this. It starts out green and fresh, and dries down a bit warmer and sexier. The simple notes may not be the olfactory assassins the scent bombs from the earlier generations were, but we live in different times, and in a world for the most part no longer bludgeoned with public second-hand smoke, there’s room for the simpler things like this to shine.
Added update: I was wrong to have decried this as ‘not a scent bomb’. I have found that compared to so many other fragrances I have that share the same accords, only this one requires a feather-light hand in application. I recently was in a fitting room area with someone who was wearing this-not only did I recognize it from across the way, (confirmed with the wearer what I was smelling) but it lingered long after she had made her selection and I was back for another round. Simple? yes. Weak? Absolutely not!

Upon first spritz this is awesome! I get the Waterlily and the Bergamot right away. It is so refreshing! The Jasmine mixed with Musk on the dry down is beautiful. I could imagine that this was what Cleopatra may have smelled like those two Millenias ago. Seeing it is an EDP I would have expected it last a bit longer. That is the only drawback really. I don’t mind refreshing myself however. So I picked up a bottle as one of my Summer scents. 9/10

Waterlily Sun is a bright fresh winner of a scent from Aerin Lauder. It opens with a lovely juicy sparkling bergamot with green and waterlily notes following. It is like a beautiful garden with a lily pond on a spring day. Jasmine and musk come in the drydown and make this beauty last. It has good sillage for about 2 hours and is a skin scent for a good 8 hours, which is the best longevity of any of the Aerin fragrances I have tried.
So far this is my favorite of the Aerin Lauder launches. It’s bright, cheerful, perfect for spring and summer. The mini bottles in the sampler set from Aerin are perfect for travelling.

Aerin Lauder is exquisitely beautiful, and her much celebrated homes are truly amazing. Plus, she’s a wonderful wife and mother, a successful business woman, and a billionaire. I’m rarely interested in celebrities of any category, but I adore Aerin (and her sister, Jane.)
After all that you’d expect a glowing review of Waterlily Sun…but, frankly, it bores me. Actually, with the exception of Tuberose-Gardenia, all of Aerin’s fragrances bore me. Waterlily sun is classy, attractive, non-offensive, and pretty. I think it’s over-priced for what it is: a new, slightly-tweaked version of Jo Malone Lotus Blossom & Water Lily.
(For a lovely water lily scent, I prefer Journey by Mary Kay…which is an oldie, but it has that special “something” that makes perfume “not body spray”.)
I wish Aerin’s fragrance offerings had a touch of her Bubbe’s pizzazz. If you want to smell unique, and be memorable, definitely try Cinnabar or original Private Collection. If you want to be ultra-polite, and mind your manners, Aerin’s line is just what you want.
