Sprayed VSOP today without expectations – now, while I found that the opening was rather underwhelming, something I’d put down to generic citrus aromatic category, cca an hour later i started smelling something really great, a spicy and woody vetiver. Not sure how this vetivery base comes across for others who know their vetivers well, but personally I think it is great, it’s smooth, laquered vetiver, which represents irrestistable masculinity to me.

Sicilian wood, resin sacra and this are all wonderful smelling fragrances and right up my ally in terms of style and what I look for in these types of scents. My only problem, and it’s the second most important thing after smell, is the longevity….they just don’t last on my skin. Smh…

I’ll combine the reviews of jhitt793 and the rest, it’s absolutely wonderful, but only lasts about an hour and then just disappears. Great sillage but longevity is very low.

The opening is out of this world. Sweet cognac and semi-floral geranium intermingle beautifully, later being accompanied by a spicy-peppery accord. Strangely this borders on a medicinal vibe for me, but actually in a very pleasant way. Reminiscent of olde world pharmacopeias using holistic/naturopathic remedies for life’s ailments, not the synthetic smells of today. Again like in other of Tom Daxon’s fragrances, sandalwood and vetiver offer warmth and security to the base. Another one of my favorites from the collection. (41)

I have to agree 100% with Rickyrebarco. The opening is “WOW – thats really beautiful”. But less then 15 minutes later you’re left with a soapy nothingness.

A very pleasant aromatic, the cognac notes are not as prominent as I had hoped. The Daxon scents develop very quickly, in about 30 minutes and then they fade pretty quickly. I like this one, but it is awfully weak based on two skin tests. I’ll try it again dumping the whole sample on my arm and see how that goes, but so far I’d say the longevity is pretty non-existent, 30 minutes before it becomes a total skin scent.
