The nicest fragrances always get discontinued. Why?????
uasystem – :
I first tried this as part of Tocca’s “Meet the Girls” collection a few years ago, and I absolutely loved it. It was a soft, sweet violet scent. As soon as I sprung for the full-size bottle though, it smelled terrible on me. All I got was a sharp musky scent that smelled like bad body odor. I thought the bottle had gone bad, but my original trial size smelled the same way on me. I guess my body chemistry has changed.
Saban15 – :
Can I just say how ridiculously long lasting this is for a “light” scent? Usually this only appears to be the case when I dislike something, the way you tend to pick up on unpleasant scents in the tiniest of concentrations. I find Violette a pleasant summery fragrance, nothing too serious, a slight aquatic opening and then a very potent musky berry drydown. If someone blindfolded me and held this under my nose I would probably guess it’s a new Al Rehab called Violet Musk or so. There is no waxiness to the violets and they are not powdery.I think the scent is very non-offensive unless you totally dislike violets or berries. It falls on the modern spectrum of scents, on the more feminine side. However, be prepared for a long musky drydown which seems to go on forever until your next shower (or beyond?!). If you dig musks like Body Shop White Musk or Haramain Musk or Haramain Madinah you should be fine…
PS I got mine from TK Maxx at £12 a bottle or so… the bottle and stopper are beautiful by the way, would look lovely on a shelf.
paga26 – :
I was lucky to score a 50ml bottle of this beauty for £15 from TKMaxx, and went back to buy a second bottle.
It’s so beautiful. It is very long lasting on me, which is unusual. I get approx 8 hours from it. For me , Violet is the perfect winter floral, and Tocca Violette has the perfect combination of Violet, musk and cedar, 3 of my favourite notes. This is an inoffensive office perfume, perfect for daytime, but also gentle and glamorous for an evening out. I just wear it whenever it takes my fancy, which to be honest is pretty often. This is a love for me, and I already have a back-up bottle.

In my opinion, Violets are the perfect cold weather florals! I absolutely love the scent of them, & Tocca Violette is no exception. It is more green and earthy, but doesn’t loses its sweet edge. The coriander really stands out in this, which keeps it grounded & interesting. . .Really beautiful Winter Floral!

I’m in TK Maxx and see it at £15. I quite like the lid, but thank you Shwets I’m no longer tempted 😀
stribog21 – :
I saw this at TK Maxx for £15. Smelt fruity violet. Nothing extraordinary enough to purchase.

The bottle is glorious.msg me!

I’ve been on a violet kick and really like the fresh, light violet of Violette. Not a man-magnet but a pretty scent that’s enjoyable all day. Perfect for work. Violette is a lovely little bit of vintage. Makes me feel timeless when I wear it.
etf469InsuffBooni – :
This is a definitive “make-up bag” scent if you’re looking for one. It goes on sweet and powdery with a hint of dry coriander and ginger (and a little hint of plasticine something..not sure what note that’s from. The rose perhaps?) The violet here is a soft candy violet that keeps to the shadows. This scent is a real wallflower, something the girl next door might wear. It’s cute and innocent and pretty! However, it’s just not a love for me. I like my violets with an edge, as in Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania. However, if you want a soft, sweet, simple violet this is the scent for you!
Natalia_fromAD – :
A youthful cousin of Love in Black and Insolence EDP. Violette is less powdery, subtler, brighter. A lovely, sunny, fruity and musky violet. I love it, and that’s saying a lot considering that I normally go for the heavier orientals.
Silage is soft to moderate, longevity at least 8 hours on my skin, though by the end the scent has faded to a sweet musk with little to no trail.
For a spring or summer day, a museum trip, an afternoon reading at the local coffee house, or a lovely picnic, this can’t be beat. Pleasant, happy, and delicate. Thumbs up!
osyunja – :
You are so lucky guys if you can get smthg. I can’t smell anything at all. I was obsessed to buy Tocca Violets cause it was described as mysterious and deep violets smell. What I get is a flat boring air freshener. Sorry. It’s my opinion
Guinevere – :
I was thrilled to purchase my Violette unsniffed. Sadly, my experience is very similar to that of Sherapop’s review below. I was looking more for pure, sweet violets being the focal point of the composition. Rather, I am smelling a heavily aquatic scent with little lasting power (except for the musk which is a stage 4 clinger) Not a bad scent, but a bit of a bait and switch in my eyes. This one kind of hangs there in the back of my throat and won’t let go. The bottle is typical Tocca lovely. If you love aquatics and musk combo, this may make you very happy.
Sillage- 3/10
Longevity – 3/10
Overall Beauty of Scent – 3/10
citroautoclub – :
So light and fresh and clean, I love this. It lasts most of the day on me, though it dwindles to a subtle scent very quickly – wish the lovely violet scent would hang around a bit longer. (Though that makes it good for days when I’d like a bit of a floral scent but nothing overpowering…)
wapin – :
Sweet candied violets with a squeeze of lemon. A very delicate, girly scent. Whereby it is sweet, it maintains a fresh powderiness throughout which keeps the fragrance from being cloying. Perfect for casual, daily wear. But, the longevity with my chemistry is slight, I wish this gem lingered longer. . .
ARSHAK – :
Yassss. I love this! So violettey and lemony (to me), and this smells so vintage without smelling “old”. This is something that Rose DeWitt-Bukater would have worn boarding the Titanic. Young, fresh, but sophisticated and sparkling. Truly smells like someone found this in an old-world perfume shop, but gave it a modern feel. It doesn’t last terribly long, but that’s not enough to deter me away. If you like violets, this is one to try for sure. I’ll never let go!
he41493l – :
Tocca Violette is a fresh, unpretentious and feminine scent. The violet is light, clean and is always the main star.
It gives the idea of spring, sort of like a carefree day.
It’s a casual fragrance, but not in a mundane way. More like a natural scent, as if you carry a violet bouquet and the scent impregnates your clothes.
A beautiful scent if you like violets.
valeryan – :
This was my first experience with a Tocca EDP. I should not have worn it following a day with the reknown and complex Mikousa. Tocca Violette, for me, was a light, simple and delicate pretty much nondescript Spring floral.. I will wear it when I need a nice, light, non-offensive dab of something to wear on a hot day. But when my .5 ounces is finished, I shall not repurchase.

Overall: 6.5/10
Fresh, Aquatic, Faint and Pleasant.
Picked this up at Marshal’s for $29.99 i couldn’t resist!
I want something a little lighter than my TF/Creed’s and something more fresh, so i thought why not!
Anyways, i don’t smell ANY Violet’s in here.
This stuff is very weak almost pitifully so.
It was sprayed an hour ago and a got sweet juicy floral (very similar to MJ Eau So Fresh!) and very soft powder.
It is quite fresh, but violet is non-existent and it’s only been on for an hour and its getting fainter and fainter by the minute.
such a sad thing because it dries down quite nice, but it simply will NOT hold up.
The packaging and the Bottle itself are A+
Such a lovely fragrance, undone by horrible composition from a makers standpoint.
this will be going back today.
Андрей3001 – :
This was so promising- it makes me sad to write this, actually… I was so looking forward to this before it launched and Sephora didn’t have an open sample for me to test it… but I ADORE the smell of Violet anything so I bought it on an $85.00 whim.
I unwrapped it, sprayed it on myself— nothing. I thought “well, go home, take a shower (remove the other fragrance I had on) and try again.. nope. Nothing. So, I have a mostly full bottle of Tocca Violette in my perfume cabinet and it’s nice to look at… just disappointing. Save your money.
ddss – :
omg im in love. it smells so nice. i get all violet, musk, currant, and then musk. however i can only smell it if i put my nose up to my wrist. it may be a little too girly for me, but it is really nice. my husband says it smells like a bath and body works spray. i think if you like fragrances but dont want to be bold or work in an office with people who are sensitive to heady perfumes then this is perfect. a quiet and unobtrusive scent. soft and feminine. i imagine a woman in her 30s taking her children on a nature walk wearing this. exploring flowers, bird watching, and enjoying a sunny spring day.
Candy25 – :
Christmas orange and pine with violet dries towards sweet violets with juicy fruit backnotes and woody stems. Well balanced and not too sugary, just enough base to give it bottom without interfering. Sweetens as it dries down, but still lovely (my skin amps sweet notes, so they can get cloying. This doesn’t)
СЛадкая – :
This perfume is so tricky to rate. I absolutely love the smell of it. I can distinguish:
-fresh clean bergamot
-a bit of spiciness, but not a spiciness from spices. It’s like smell a flower that has a bit of a spicy fragrance
-sweet violets
-black currant
Sounds amazing right? But the thing is, it doesn’t have any silage on me. ZERO. It’s not that it fades or anything, if I put my nose to my wrist I can still smell it sitting there. This is truly, and literally, a skin scent. Really, when I say the silage is nil I mean it. It’s weaker than even a cheap body spray. I could part with maybe $20 to just enjoy it personally at home, but not the $68 price tag. I’m all for skin scents but literally nose has to be to wrist to catch a whiff, and I can’t be sniffing my wrist constantly in public just to enjoy my scent… unless I want to look like a weirdo… hah.
em50st – :
I love violets and this is a very pretty interpretation of a violet. This scent has been playing peek a boo on my skin for the last 4 hours. At times I only smell musk, a bit later there is a soft sweet violet, a bit later the black currant seems to pop its head out. We just keep playing this dance. It does have a bit of a zing from the coriander and/or ginger but this is not spicy. It just lends a bit of a “zing” for lack of a better word.
I have really enjoyed wearing this scent. Others are right the silage is very low. This is definitely more of a skin scent. The longevity has been ok…4-5 hours. I’m seriously considering purchasing a full bottle even though I usually prefer something that projects a bit more just because this is so light and pretty. I also love Tocca bottles and their packaging!!! I’m a sucker for a pretty box and a bottle!!!
mamay1310 – :
This reminds me of my favorite thing about Eau So Fresh: the lingering sweetness that I get in the rollerball form. This is a lovely, sweet perfume that has left me smelling my wrist all day long. The sillage is pretty soft, but it’s lasting for a long time on me. Love this perfume.
antonman95 – :
At last! I had just about given up on Tocca, and then this comes along….it starts off smelling like a sweet lemon drop candy with a musk background and touch of vintage powder, and gradually, the sweet lemon is replaced by violet candy. I can just picture a young girl in 1895, wearing a white cotton dress, sitting in the front parlor of her grandma’s Eastlake Victorian, eating lemon drops and violet pastilles from the candy dish.
This is the sweet lemon scent I had been searching for decades in, though the citrus note listed here is bergamot, not lemon. Matters not. Smells like sweet lemon candy to me. And anyway, bergamot is something I cannot live without on a daily basis…as I am an Earl Grey addict. Of course, something this wonderful cannot be perfect, right? It disappears quicker than you can finish a piece of hard candy, so one would have to be able to afford this luxury and reapply all day long to have a lasting experience with it. Maybe if I pray hard enough, the perfume gods will deliver a case of Violette at my doorstep.
borman085 – :
Sweet, cute and old fashioned girlishness.

The first time I put this perfume on, I loved it but I was surprised because the smell was very familiar. I couldn’t place it though and I did like it, so I bought a bottle. Wasn’t until a few days later that I was able to make the connection. On me this is almost a softer, more elegant version of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Fresh, which I also own. Not identical, but close!
Regardless, it’s a great fragrance that I find myself going to a lot in the spring. I don’t find that violet is a very prominent note until it really dries down but then it doesn’t last very long. If you are looking for a strong violet fragrance with lasting power this probably isn’t it.
vania – :
Love Violette- starts out tart and citrusy with my body chemistry. The dry down seems to take a little time but then you get lots of floral and I think it is not overwhelmingly powdery(like Kenzo for example). I don’t mind powdery. This is one of those simple but elusive scents where now you small it, now you don’t and then it hits you again. I’ve had numerous people walk up to me and ask what scent I’m wearing. Not to compare but I really like the Ed Hardy line and Marc Jacobs fragrances. This isn’t nearly so flowery and seems more sophisticated but light. I get headaches from some perfumes that are too –? musky or something and so far no problem there with this. I’d take the leap and try it out. Everyone’s body chemistry is different- i.e. D&G Blue smells heavenly on my sister but I smell like a hospital ward if I wear it… so, give it a try and if Violette is not for you, Tocca makes many other scents which might work for you.

I was in Sephora recently searching for a violet perfume to sample and this was suggested. I was so hopeful but it did nothing for me. I couldn’t even detect the violet nor did anything else about it stand out in any way. I have Violette-Menthe which really delivers but am still on a violet rampage and want to add diversity to my collection. This was not it.

I have developed a bit of a perfume obsession over the last year and my long distance boyfriend surprised me with a bottle of this in the mail about a week ago. I was a little afraid at first since this is the first perfume he has picked out himself for me, but it turned out I worried for nothing because this perfume is nice and pretty, and at the very worst you have yourself an inoffensive perfume in a very pretty bottle.
Violette to my nose is a sweeter floral, but also distinctively spicy (my nose definitely detects ginger/coriander). Sillage is low and the scent is inoffensive, so it is perfectly good for work. I like it best when the day is hot, because I feel I can smell the flowers develop a little better in the heat.
Overall, it does smell very Spring and Romantic. My main qualm is with how light it is and it does not seem to have too much lasting power. However, the bottle is absolutely gorgeous and the box it came in is also very beautiful. My boyfriend told me later on, “I figured if you didn’t like the scent you would be happy with the bottle in your collection.” 🙂

I love violets. I love thick-glass bottomed bottles, and Tocca’s is one of the best. It annoys me that the capacity is only 50ml and it cannot be refilled, but I love it anyway. Naturally when I learned the name of the latest entry in the Tocca eau de parfum line-up, I couldn’t resist ordering a bottle.
Unfortunately, after a few wearings I’ve come to the conclusion that this particular composition is closer to this house’s Aqua Profumata colognes than to the rest of the eaux de parfums (some of which I like quite a lot). The problem with VIOLETTE, for me, is that there is an aquatic facet which shrouds and even compromises the presentation of the violets. I’m not saying that violets have to be soloists, as in the nineteenth-century creations Berdoues VIOLETTES DE TOULOUSE or Borsari VIOLETTA DI PARMA, or their cousins Molinard VIOLETTE and Christiane Celle CALYPSO VIOLETTE, but here I feel that the violets are overwhelmed by some sort of aqualia. In fact, in wafts this reminds me of the Marc Jacobs cocktail splash series. That’s the quality and longevity I’m finding here.
What’s wrong with this picture? Well, for starters, VIOLETTE does not come in a 10 ounce jug, but in this gorgeous thick-bottomed bottle with a measly 50 ml capacity. This is not a bottle appropriate to a cologne-strength juice. Nor is this a bottle appropriate to a fragrance which is just okay. This bottle should be reserved for high-quality, savor drop-by-drop perfume!
Needless to say, I won’t be purchasing any more of this fragrance, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll never be able to throw this bottle away. It’s really too bad that we’ve no further need for paperweights… I’ll add this one to my collection of “implement of self-defense to leave within arm’s reach on the bedside table in the event of an uninvited nocturnal visitor” bottles. This one really is right up there with Van Cleef & Arpels ORIENS and SJP COVET.

I own Stella and adore it, so I decided to try Violette and Brigitte on a recent visit to a favourite shop. I sprayed Violette on one wrist and Brigitte on the other. Both smelled delicious, with the top notes and I was going to have a hard time deciding. I walked around the store sniffing my wrists and loving them both. About 15 minutes later, Violette was simply gone…only a trace of powder trail was left. Poof. Brigette was still going strong. So, I followed my 24 hour rule to think and test before purchase and brought home two small samples. Later that afternoon I sprayed each wrist again. Again the same result. As pretty as Violette
smells, it is too pricey for a “body spray” result. Brigette is wonderful also, but lasts only a couple of hours on me. I am sad because I read that Bianca and Giulietta are even less lasting. Tocca really makes some gorgeous scents. I may try a solid scent for a smaller investment to see if lasts longer and definitely stick with Stella. Violette has a lovely vintage feel, it is worth taking for a spin, just see how it lasts on you.
