Very nice well balance roses with fruits. Clementine stands out the most over the rose. Very pleasant and clean smelling. Easy to wear but not in the eveyone is wearing it way. I can’t stop smelling it. I only got a sample but would love the see the actual bottle.

Another beautiful fragrance (and heavenly bottle) from A Dozen Roses. It’s lovely zingy fruit, gorgeous. It’s delicious. It’s such lovely roses (they sure are good at roses!) and a beautiful deep amber. Truly wonderful.

Update: after some research, I think I can point to why this is so weak, especially in the rose. They use natural rose absolu, which is quite expensive. To put it in perspective, a 5% dilution costs the same as or more than 100% lavender essential oil (on Amazon and other consumer sites). So it makes sense they don’t hit you in the face with it, they can’t afford to. I can guarantee you don’t need 20 sprays, lol.
I just got this at Marshalls. It’s very weak, as others have mentioned. I get mostly a generic floral, with apricot and tangerine sort of mixed together but very prominent immediately after the alcohol goes (floral is heavy at first). It’s already gone from my shirt after 5 minutes for 1 spray, but what’s on my wrist (1 spray directly on there) is still there. Beautiful bottle, but not the strongest or most interesting scent. To me, it smells like dried apricots and generic (rose-ish) floral. Definitely not worth the full price, but good for those people who work in industries where you shouldn’t wear too much fragrance. It’s basically a body spray in a gorgeous bottle.

I love this fragrance. Smells so good. The clementine and apricot gives it a fruity sweet scent as it begins. Then you get a bouquet of roses, lots of roses. The longevity is incredible. I wore it for 3 days straight and even when I wasn’t wearing it I swear I felt like I was still wearing it. The amber is a big player but at the end, a very beautiful rich deep amber. This smells very expensive and luxurious. If you like roses this is a fragrance you have to try. And the bottle is so pretty. So this is not a complex fragrance. It’s a fruity floral amber but it’s tastefully done. Thank You Fragrantica for helping me to find some of the most beautiful fragrances of my life.

A bubblegum bright orange mixed with a high volume rose. I liked this fragrance but ultimately was glad to use up. I had to apply a lot to smell it and then it would give me a headache. The bottles from this line are pretty though, so I can see a lot of people wanting something from A Dozen Roses just to have the bottle.

My priority has always been about liking the fragrance in the bottle. But, this changed the moment I picked up a bottle of Amber Queen by A Dozen Roses. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that even if the fragrance was less than good, I would still love it because of the bottle. Pictures do not do it justice. It is artistic looking and is nicely heavy to hold. Kudos to Lynn Emmolo and Sandy Cataldo, the artist and designer!
As for the fragrance, I love it. I love it because I use it so often that it automatically moved from like into the rank of love. I actually can easily detect the ginger, fruits, roses and the amber in this fragrance. And that is a good thing! Even better, I enjoy using Amber Queen for layering with other fragrances at the times I want to “mix it up” a bit.
This is a rose scent that is very easy to wear…much more comfortable than wearing “rose perfume.” If you like amber, yet are hesitant to wear rose scent, I recommend that you try Amber Queen.
    ♥ Sillage is moderate.
    ♥ Longevity is long lasting.

This fragrance doesn’t seem like an oriental floral to me at all – it’s rather more like a fruity floral. That being said, it’s better than most other fruity florals on the market IMO. It doesn’t have that murky quality that a lot of celeb fruity florals have. Very pretty, slightly juicy. I wish I could smell the ginger, even just a little, but I don’t get any of that. Just the fruits with a touch of rose. It wouldn’t be worth the original $125 price tag, but I am happy enough with it for the $10 I spent.

Opens with juicy orange, sweet apricot, and spicy ginger, and softens into rose and amber as it dries down. Once it dries down completely it’s pretty unremarkable…I hate saying that about scents but I keep thinking that I have smelled this EXACT scent somewhere else before. I can’t remember for the life of me what the other scent was but it was definitely a lower-end mainstream perfume, maybe even something from the Daisy line? Am I crazy? In any case, this scent is pretty much a “been-there, done-that” for me. The top notes had promise but it dried down into every scent I’ve ever tried on at ULTA. Definitely going to pass on a full bottle.

Like many other reviewers a $9.99 score at Marshalls. So my take on it? The fragrance itself is very nice and it’s got an amber note as expected. In some regards I might smell a very very very weak version of Valentino Valentina but so weak I cannot even compare the two. Cool looking bottle, nice box. I have no idea how they were being sold for so much however I would not mind at all finding others which unfortunately I only found one bottle at my local Marshalls. This fragrance is an unfortunate fader. You have to apply alot as it is more like a body spray. It does however do something interesting. Even though it’s painfully weak and watery after 4 hours it was getting lovely wiff’s coming from somewhere and I realized it was me. So it faintly sticks with you for hours but you probably won’t know it.

I bought Amber Queen a few days ago at Marshalls for 9.99. This is a beautiful rose on me and reminded me of Coty’s La Rose Jacqueminot which I haven’t smelled since the 1980’s, but was brought back to consciousness by this fragrance. Longevity is good for most of the day, but sillage is not very strong. I still would recommend this because it’s beautiful.

This very expensive line is showing up at discount stores for nothing. I hope I don’t get crazy like I did with the EA Green Tea line. I’ve done extensive research on these and it seems almost hands down that these are weak and mediocre. The only two that people seem to tolerate are Shakespere In Love and Gold Rush. Iced White is said to be like CK Truth. Angel Face like Euphoria. Electron like a watery, boring rose. And there are six more in the works! I think the bottles are super tacky. They would go well in a stucco mega-mansion California bathroom.
Update: OK, I relented and got Iced White. See review at Iced White. Other blogs compare Amber Queen to Kenzo Flower and Meteorites, a powdery violet which I have, so I may resist.
OK, I picked this up and find a rush of orange with trailing a trailing peachy note. Sadly it’s over too fast. I think the rollerball is not practical for a good application. I have the bottle of Iced White and that lasts. The roller balls are really cheap at Marshall’s though.

    I agree, bad longevity.
It’s a very thin watery scent in general.
I don’t smell any peach, apricot, or amber.
On me, it’s a citrusy orange scent with just a touch of rose. I love rose, and had hoped for more of this.
Honestly, it’s just a watery lemony-orange scent on me.
    A disappointment.

Amber Queen opens with apricot, although there is a slight bit of warmth coming from the ginger, too. The rose note appears in the drydown, turning this into a light, fruity-floral. Good for spring/summer, and work-appropriate in terms of sillage, though the longevity is only a couple hours on me.

I picked this up at TJ Maxx on sale. Evidently the whole A Dozen Roses line is showing up at various TJ Maxxs and Marshalls. I picked Amber Queen due to the notes listed, especially the rose and amber notes. I thought it would be more of a fall scent. It isn’t that kind of fragrance despite what the name would leave you to believe. It is more of a summer scent with a hint of amber, rose and (even though it isn’t listed) vanilla, after the bright and sweet fruity opener. I dare say, it is a very cheerful scent. It is lovely, but it isn’t unique among fruity floral fragrances. Still glad I picked it up as it is hard to be mopey while wearing this scent.
The vanilla rose-amber notes remind me of the same notes in Tocade-a light and slightly powdery vanilla rose, only lighter. The rose isn’t the dominant initial note. It opens with bright sweet citrus and fruit notes and a hint of ginger. This is more an end of summer fragrance than a fall fragrance. It is lovely (IMHO) and the quality is there, but if you are looking for a strong amber scent for fall or winter, this isn’t it. I love it for the light version of Tocade-like amber rose part of the fragrance as well as the bright opening notes and am pleased with my purchase. Potential purchasers should be aware though, that “Amber Queen” is referring to the variety of rose used in this scent and not the components in the perfume. I could also see pairing this with something like Tocade or other amber and rose based scents, if you want to up the amber level.
ETA: reportedly the nose behind this perfume is Irina Burlakova if anyone is curious.

A Dozen Roses is one of the many new houses to have emerged during what I presume will one day be looked back upon as the “niche bubble”, involving everybody and their mother, uncle, cousin and siblings becoming “Creative Directors”. In the case of AMBER QUEEN, my advice to the “creative team” is: seek alternative employment and a different outlet for your energies.
To my nose, this is tantamount to a mid-level designer-quality fruity-floral frag. It could be called “Preppy Princess,” if only that name had not already been taken by one of the members of Vera Wang’s mainstream PRINCESS series.
AMBER QUEEN is not bad, but it’s also not good.

This is a fresh, summery rose scent..the apricot is sweet and juicy. The clementine adds a hint of citrus..all mingled with a beautiful rose heart. Amber queen is an actual type of rose. A beautiful peach/amber colored rose. The representation on the bottle is very nice..to me, the color of the rose is how this perfume smells. The amber base gives a really nice foundation for the other notes without being too resinous.
The rose is so fresh and natural…a perfect rose scent!!

I just bought Amber Queen and am OBSESSED with it as is my boyfriend which is saying a lot as he’s very picky about fragrances in general. I’d gone in to NM to try Electron as I’d read a blurb about it in a magazine and was interested in the fascinating packaging and green bottle that the picture of Electron showed. I thought it smelled too much like my Creed “Spring Flowers” so I tested Amber Queen and 3 others, Iced White, Shakespeare in Love and Gold Rush. A couple of hours later, I decided Amber Queen was my absolute standout favorite, followed by Electron, Gold Rush, SIL and then the Iced White which is a very clean scent. My longtime fragrance person told me that the plan for the line is that there will be 12 total. This is my first experience with this line as I’ve usually gone with Annick Goutal, Creed or David Yurman….and I’m hooked on A Dozen Roses. I bought it and have already had several compliments on it, just in two days. Prices are not for the faint of heart….Amber Queen is $110 and the others are $95 but the fragrance is pure, high quality and long lasting. I’m not typically a “rose” fan but this one is divine.
