I’m with Derover on this one. The first impression is fascinating, but it becomes boring pretty quickly. It’s a fruity sweet and fresh vetiver. Very organic and green. To me it smells mostly like fig, but I suppose it’s the combination of vetiver and plum after all.
Linear progression, average performance. A solid unisex choice for spring and summer, although nothing spectacular.

I have a bottle of this stuff for sale if anyone is interested. I won 60ml decant of this, and it is enough for me.
This is a very light, pleasant and transparent fresh vetiver fragrance. I am not even into vetiver as a note but this one pulls it off nicely. The vetiver is nicely blended and doesn’t sound dirty. I get the citruses and a little of that fruity plum note, but the plum to me isn’t super over powering or dominant. It just adds a mild fruity backbone. I would say this fragrance is a clean and very well blended concoction of citruses, fruit and vetiver wrapped in a light woods.

    Totally agree with Super Sniffer.
Viaggio D’Africa is in my opinion the least favored of these four since that one on my skin has an overwhelming and lasting tone of anise.
On me Vetiver Fatal is the one with the least sillage and longevity.
To me the one most similar to Vetiver Tonka.

I like vetiver. I like plums. This smells like vetiver and plums. It’s almost good. It’s not really doing it for me, but I wouldn’t say that it’s fatal.

Quite the elegant and modern take on a vetiver fragrance here.
Overall you get a full, modernly sweet and likable vetiver fragrance that still remains business appropriate and leans masculine in my opinion.
For men who liked terre d’hermes, but wanted something more casual or cant stand any kind of usual party fragrance.
Quite good and recommended to the green fragrance boy club

Easily one of my favorite smells right now. It’s fresh, spicy, and the drydown is slightly creamy and settles down into my skin beautifully. Lasts for at least 8 hours, and is gorgeous through the entire development of the fragrance, leaving me wanting more. This scent is so perfect right now for the start of summer, and will probably be just as perfect in the fall. I’ll definitely be saving up some money for this beauty.
    Keep shining, you beautiful people.

Just wanted to throw this out there in case people were wondering the differences, as I too had the same question.
Vetiver Tonka: Sweet, Hazlenut, Vetiver, airy
Vetiver Fatal: Dryer, Fruit (plum), Vetiver, tad fresher
Bal D’Afrfrque: Sweeter, Powdery, vetiver, dense (IMO leans feminine)
    No experience with Viaggio D’Africa

At first it is very dark with loads of vetiver only, which is not really enjoyable but after a while (approximatley 10-15 mins) it becomes a bit sweeter and much more enjoyable and at that moment it is very similar to Bal d’afrique, if not identical. I believe this one has a much better projection than Bal d’afrique and the price is similar. I would pick this one 10 out of 10 times instead of Bal d’afrique.

I received Vetiver Fatal in my monthly Scentbox subscription. This is definitely green, woody, earthy vetiver all the way with a bit of plum. It smells great but leans too masculine for my taste. I’ll pass this on to my boyfriend. It should smell wonderful on him.

If you love vetiver, you’ll love this. This is a lovely green, intriguing perfume. The violet leaf makes it a no-go for me, however.
Not everyone will love this but if you like a green, niche perfume – this may be for you!

This may well be the most unisex scent in my stash. On my skin, this is a very well blended citrus, violet leaf and vetiver. The woods peek though after 50 minutes or so. What I love most about this is the natural type vibe I get from the fragrance. This makes me feel like taking a long hike in the woods. I bought a small bottle, because my stash is out of control. This definitely reminds me of Bal D’Afrique. I think there will be another bottle of Vetiver Fatal in my future. Excellent!

I think its a masterpiece..Sweet plum + violet leaf + fresh vetiver at the end…its just the most beautiful scent i ever smelled..its sweet, romantic and clean at the same time…it performs well too on my skin. I get about 3 hours of good projection..and 10+ hours of longevity
For me its Simply 10 out of 10

I ordered this and Santal Carmen from samples. I was not so excited about Vetiver Fatal when first sampled, now it is my second favorite Atelier after Musc Imperial.
It is a very unusual vetiver, I have many.
The only fragrance that reminded me of this from over 300 reviews is He Wood Rocky Mountain. Because of the vetiver, violet, musc. But this is so more refined with better quality notes.
This is more fruity than Rocky Mountain. It is in the genre of Creed Vetiver Geranium, but better, a fresh fragrance with more… The plum and violet go so well together. It’s a bit on the sweet side, not too much.
The main players are vetiver and violet leaf, which are an unusual vetiver combo. Then you have the bergamot, orange blosom, and plum which give it that light Atelier Cologne feel.
So it’s an unusual fruity vetiver that’s not too sweet, very well done. This is a signature worthy fragrance. I like this better than Creed Vetiver Geranium, the freshness is similar, but Vetiver Fatal has more aromatic sophistication.
This is like Atelier’s Our Saphir, but Oud Saphir falls short in trying to be a more serious Oud fragrance. Vetiver Fatal is not pretentious, and comes off better and more sophisticated than the simple fresh vetiver it claims to be.
I got the impression of lime for the nice fresh citrus here, but non listed. The citruses are secondary, this is more than an Atelier citrus freshy.

A mix of the fruits, violet leaf and oud literally take this vetiver composition scent to the next level. This is an exceptional take on vetiver people, you must give this frag a whiff! A definite 10/10 for me.

I’ve taken a liking to Vetiver but this is something special. I really can’t compare it to Tom Ford Grey Vetiver but its right there if not A STEP ABOVE IT! THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! Its tricky cause the vetiver doesn’t show up until a good 15 minutes after the initial spray & it just gets better & better as time passes. At first i get a woody citrus vibe that transitions into a more masculine take on vetiver that I believe is AMAZING! I can smell some citruses in the background & some oud that i thing is giving it the scent that masculine feeling. Definitely a must have if you’re into Vetiver…

Just purchased this and fig is listed on the box as one of the main ingredients. Why is there no fig in the list of notes above?

  22. :

    5 out of 5

Vetiver is not usually a note I would seek out in a fragrance because it tends to be a little “sharp” in the compositions I’m familiar with, but the vetiver here is well-balanced and blended with the other notes: plum, bitter orange, cedar and oud. Oud is another note I don’t care for in high doses, which is why I’m glad Atelier used just a dash to compliment the vetiver.
I use this alone and as a base for other Atelier fragrances that have similar orange/cedar notes: Orange Sanguine and Trefle Pur. It also blends nicely with Rose Anonyme and Vanille Insensee. Give it a try!

Vetiver Fatal was an unexpected surprise when I first tried it a few years ago! To me, it’s just a gorgeous syrupy vetiver with plummy jam. I love vetiver fragrances–everything from the fresh greens to the dark and dirties–but the ladies in my life (mostly my fragrance borrowing daughters) aren’t quite as fond of them, although they will occasionally borrow my Original Vetiver.
At the time, I recall wanting a bottle of Chanel Sycomore, but I decided Encre Noire was a suitable alternative (for my vetiver fix) along with picking-up Vetiver Fatal since I liked the notes, it received good reviews, and I wanted to round-out my vetiver collection. I have been very happy with my purchase.
This fragrance smells fantastic but it may disappoint if you’re expecting a “Fatal” (namesake) vetiver fragrance. The opening (which fills a room) can lean a bit on the feminine side for the first few minutes, but the drydown is really nice albeit light on the vetiver, to some, because it is the smooth/clean variety versus dark, dirty, rooty vetivery. The ladies absolutely adore this scent! In fact, my daughters often absconded with my bottle and it may be one of their favorite Spring/Summer fragrances. Performance is excellent in that this fragrance lasts 8-hours on my skin and projects a bit above average (really pushes out the first hour).
Vetiver Fatal is an excellent fragrance that men and women will enjoy smelling. While I will probably continue reaching for dependable vetiver scents like Grey Vetiver, Terre d’Hermes and Guerlain Vetiver when I’m in a vetiver mood, occasionally locating my bottle of Vetiver Fatal is a refreshing change of pace. In retrospect, perhaps they should rename this juice “Vetiver Fatal Attraction” because I certainly get excited when I smell it on the ladies.

Jerome Epinette revisits his masterful composition Bal d’Afrique, this time with plum and violet leaf in place of blackcurrant and marigold. While BdA is sweeter and lighter, Vetiver Fatal is richer and fuller. In both, vetiver only becomes prominent well into dry down. I prefer BdA because it’s easier to wear, and I tend to be put off by prominent plum notes. Try both if you’re interested in a sweet, fruity, light vetiver.

    wow…
the vetiver doesn’t come in until later in the game. i’d say at haftime. those fruity notes pre-vetiver are awesome. this is a good one imo. one of my favorite vetivers and probably has knocked tom ford gv edp down a spot.
can be worn in the warm to hot weather, day or night. work or play. dressed up or down. i love it
very unisex . lasts about 8 hours on me and projects about an armlength.

Tested this at the Sephora store. Thrilled, however that wasn’t enough to warrant a purchase.
Have since purchased Santal Carmin, Rose Anonyme, Silver Iris, Rendez-Vous, Musc Imperial, Tobacco Nuit, Cafe Tuberosa, Camelia Intrepide, and Gold Leather from this brand and i love what they are producing; figured if I were to purchase it would be at a great deal…well the time and deal has come….
Acquired a 200ml for $60 (can you believe it-60 bucks) just couldn’t pass it up…..
Atelier did a wonderful job on the construction of this Vetiver in my opinion!!! Not your typical in your face dry, pungent green, acidic Vetiver, but a more crisp, lighter, citrusy Vetiver fragrance with balanced sweetness; almost reminds me of Dolce & Gabana Homme (original) in the opening…”just slightly!!!” Reminds me of the sweetly greens in Molton Brown’s Navigation Scent Apuldre (although different Apuldre has a minty green, whereas Atelier has a calm sweet green)!
IMO a masculine fragrance; right out the gate I would give this an 8/10 rating!
Great juice; will submit a more detailed review soon!
    [Update-detailed review 4/8/17]
Vetiver Fatal as mentioned previously, is a fresh/crisp vetiver with nuances of fruits in the mix. As with all Atelier fragrances, one does not need to rub in or ones hands together once sprayed as there is an oily texture that settles on the skin after having been sprayed that I believe gives off the aroma for hours on in if left alone to settle.
In addition to the crisp fruity aroma this gives off, there is such a light airy feeling that accompanies to the extent that it feels very summery and green, yet subtle and soft.
Vetiver Fatal notes, Violet leaf, Bitter orange, Sicilian lemon, Black plum (although I don’t really smell this note individually) really works together giving off this fruity combination. By far, this is one of the most intriguing and gorgeous green masculine fragrances out there!!
The Bergamot, Haitian vetiver, Texan Cedarwood, and Oud really highlight the vetiver giving it a somewhat spicy (from the Oud), yet distinct green appeal. Unlike Mugler’s Cologne, Vetiver Fatal is sweetly green with a touch of fruity citrus, with a very crisp finish. Mugler’s Cologne is green, fresh and clean with a nice soapy finish.
My only drawback is with Vetiver Fatal’s longevity-so disappointing to say the least! 2-3hours max and no where to be found! A great fragrance, however I am glad I didn’t pay the full asking price as that would only add insult to my already injured disappointment! Great fragrance but it just doesn’t stick around long enough to enjoy. 200ml bottle for 1/4 of what it retails for, I will probably use this up fairly quickly as one needs to reapply so I am not terribly bummed. This just gives me more reason to do just that!!
Maybe for summer use only?? Sprayed at 7:00am undetectable by 10:00am, maybe earlier had I been intentional in trying to smell it…Arghhh!!

A soapy vetiver citrus based juice.
I feel something strange about this. Not hating or liking it.have bought a bottle of VF based on positive and hyped reviews around it and I fell regretful.Have had many vetiver based frags in my library and at this range still prefer gery vetiver and noble vetiver.
Longevity and sillage and price tag all moderate;)

My secretary wears this. It’s nice for a woman or metrosexual guy. I dislike unisex scents for myself, so although it’s nice, there’s nothing masculine/manly about it. It does seem to have lasting longevity and the projection is above average. When she enters my office I get whiffs of it, and it’s a pleasing scent. Very nice for the spring.

Utterly beautiful, soft, spicy, creamy, similar to Allure Edition Blanche in its smoothness, lovely orange citrus smell with fresh cut masculine wood in the background.
I can detect every single listed note in here.
Not sure about longevity, assuming 4-6hrs as it often is with these very natural scents.

Vetiver Fatale is beautiful. it’s a very bright, uplifting kind of fragrance. Initial notes are a sweet, citrus punch from the lemon and bergamot notes. These then get sweetened pretty strongly by the Rich Plum note layered with orange blossom and violet leaf on the side , and the woody Cedar n Vetiver keeps the fragrance lean and clean so to speak. This slightly citrusy plum and Vetiver combination is the heart of the fragrance and it stays this way for a long time. I dont get any oud note per se but if it’s there, it’s probably the synthetic kind used as a fixative for the rest of the notes. The dry down is more woody and the sweetness from the plum becomes more of a hint.
Projection is good, pretty nice and strong for the first 3-4 hours. Longevity is around the 7-8 hour mark on skin for me in this winter weather which is great because this is not a “Heavy” frag and wearing it is an effortless joy. Two other sweet vetiver fragrances it reminds me of to varying degrees are Byredo Bal D’Afrique and Hermes Vetiver Tonka. Bal D’Afrique is very similar except it uses Black currant to VF’s Plum. Vetiver Tonka is slightly sweeter with it’s use of caramel and praline notes added to the tonka bean with none of the fruitiness. On me atleast, Vetiver Fatale performs better than the other 2 for longevity. If you like either Bal D’Afrique or Vetiver Tonka, check this out as chances are you will love Vetiver Fatale. Also if you are looking for a Vetiver frag but dont want to go down the Citrus- Vetiver route like TF Grey Vetiver and Dueto Citiver or the Woody – vetiver route like Lalique Encre Noir, Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatale is definitely worth a look. I love this fragrance and cant recommend it enough.

it smells like Hermessence Vetiver Tonka..but without the tonka bean note.Less sweet and a bit more fresh.

i smelt this a while back and i hated it! it was cloyingly sweet with some dusty man-cologne in the back and it just felt like a gross dichotomy. i gave it a few months, and for whatever reason i decided to try it again and I’m really fond of this. it smells a lot like bal d’afrique, but i prefer vetiver fatale to that. BDA has this ugly opening that smells like walking into a body shop store and having your nose assaulted by indistinct fruits/sweets and an overall synthetic vibe. VF has a similar fruity vibe, but it doesn’t get as explosive as BDA, rather citrus and plum combine to provide a sweet, creamy backing to the smoky, grassy, slightly bitter vetiver that stays throughout the duration of the scent. it projects for a 2 hours or so, but dies almost entirely after 3/4, so the longevity is unfortunately weak on me 🙁
i like this though, its a versatile scent and a nice introduction to vetivers (at least for me!)

I’ve been on a vetiver quest of late and have tried the following: Diptyque Vetiverio, Guerlain Vetiver, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Creed Vetiver, L’Occitan Vetiver and Vetiver Fatal.
Though there are some other great scents that may include vetiver as more of a supporting player, I’m not including those (ie. Terre D’Hermes).
Using the Guerlain as, not so much a reference, but as a baseline for a complete realization of all that vetiver has to offer (a complete accounting of all it’s inherent notes or values), I find that certain aspects of it are simply to strident or bitter for my tastes. My favorites then are the ones who express what I love about the plant and subdue those inherent notes that I’m not so crazy about. I think that when creating a composition with this ingredient as a centerpiece, discretion is the better part of valor. In this regard, Creed is the best composed, beautiful and round. But my favorite has to be the Atelier, still wonderfully composed and yet revealing more of the positive aspects of leading player. Lighter and brighter than the Creed and fruitier than any of the others, it renders to a lovely and natural skin scent. It’s a great and beautiful summer fragrance.

This is a very very different and unique take on Vetiver. I like it. I don’t like Byredo BDA though. This is kind of it’s own fragrance as I have yet to smell anything like it. Like a sweet aquatic Vetiver. Far from earthy and woody or spicy. The longevity is good and projecting isn’t bad. Not femm or masculine, just a great smelling scent that I would not pass up . I would say great for the summer if you are one who wears things during seasons only.
Overall, due to the awesome price point, I will get a full bottle.

What a great scent. Its sweet and fresh. I honestly dont detect any oud. But i dont think i would want to. It’s perfect for any occasion. signature, work, date, formal, even clubbing if you spray more. Its really good. And really unisex. I think its reasonably price for 200ml bottle. I heard Atelier sold the company, so i hope this fragrance doesn’t change.

This smells great — but very familiar. If anyone has ever smelled YSL L’Homme Libre, this can be described as that, with a much more natural dry down. The violet leaf is strong with this one. It’s a pleasant and energizing scent that should work well in every season.

A frenetic dance of vetiver with citrus, plum and violets makes it more reminiscent of mainstreem fragrances than niche – one of few perfume with note of vetiver in main role that is also agreeable and easy to wear.
I tested it several times and I can say without doubt that it is very suitable for the colder seasons, because in summer plum note distils not too well with other flavors.
Wearing it, I found many similarities with Bleu de Chanel EDP – not about the notes that compose it, but rather in the overall feeling and circumstances that can be worn – which translates into an exceptional versatility.
Only it’s price that is very close to that of Chanel Sycomore makes it waitting on the shopping list …

Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal is very reminiscent of Byredo Bal D’Afrique and Westbrook due to the common groupings of citrus, violet, and vetiver, to the point that I’d insist that someone try all three before making up their minds to buy any of them. As I’ve opted for Westbrook already, which I feel has a bit more allure to it anyway, I certainly wouldn’t need to pull the trigger on Vetiver Fatal, but Vetiver Fatal is a nice fragrance in its own right–fresh and sweet due to the citrus, demure with the floral of the violet, and grounded in the earthy vetiver. An interesting try with well above average perforamnce for an Atelier, this is sure to make it to many’s “top 10 vetiver” lists, and is a nice departure from the overly-fresh and short-lived trends of the house.
Standard retail pricing is $130 for 100ml, but it’s seemingly widely available on discount sites, on FragranceNet for $116 for 100ml and even just $122 for 200ml, so there are deals to be had, but not by me, as I’m content with Westbrook and without Bal D’Afrique.

The opening is quite grassy and vegetal, with a bit of sweetness in the background. I prefer the dry down, which is more sweet and creamy. A somewhat unconventional vetiver fragrance, but one of my favorites. The only thing holding me back from buying a full bottle is the longevity, which is rather poor on my skin.

Orange dominates this scent. There is some lemon and floral notes on the top , but the body of the scent is Orange with a vetiver backing. I think this a Unisex fragrance. It is no where near as masculine as Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or Guerlain Vetiver. It is a sweeter, milder and softer scent.
If you are a guy and want a grassier, more masculine Vetiver you might want try Tom Ford GV or Guerlain. Still, this is a very nice scent made out of high quality and natural smelling ingredients. I think this is a great scent that leans toward the feminine.

I’m not an expert or something, but I’ve been doing this “hobby” for 2+ years and I can affirm that Vétiver Fatal is one of my all time favourite fragrances, EVER! I’ve got a crush on Atelier Cologne’s Vétiver Fatal! True love for this one, I’ll use it a lot more and try to write something more accurate as I can. Overall I give this a HUGE 10 out of 10.
This is my favourite “go-to” cologne!

  48. :

    4 out of 5

Vetiver Fatal seems clean, almost soapy, except for that slightly pungent, vegetal vibe I love so much in a fragrance. (Except for a couple of exceptions, such as 212 for Men, I don’t generally care for soapy frags.) I consider this well-blended because I simply cannot distinguish the plums from the rest of the notes, although I love the smell of plums. I don’t mind saying I was about to give up on Atelier Colognes, before I found Vetiver Fatal. The slightly powdery feel ALMOST reminds me of iris, which I cannot tolerate (see Atelier’s “Silver Iris”), but not enough to turn me away. In fact, I have definitely found a new favorite, and I don’t say that very often.
Update: Vetiver Fatal is just too weak and watery, which seems to be typical of Atelier Colognes.

I can’t believe Vetiver Fatal doesn’t have fennel in it because it smells like mostly fennel to me. (I LIKE fennel.) This is only my very first impression (just arrived in the mail), but mostly fennel. Looking for that plum note, which is the main reason I ordered this sample, and a little disappointed I can’t distinguish it. Still, very nice. Maybe I won’t give up on Atelier JUST YET. 🙂 So does anybody else get fennel in this?

This is one of the best perfumes base on vetiver if not the best one!!
Instead of common earthy note of vetiver , we have refreshing and delicate smell from vetiver with fruity vibe.
It feels like you walking in a dewy jungle and lots of sweet and sour smell was in the air with smoky background.
And love the way vetiver smell in here.
It opens up with fresh and woody scent of vetiver that mix with delicious and sweet plum beside sour citrusy notes that smoky oud make it more balance and masculine.
after a while sour and dewy notes were disappear and you can smell woody notes in sweet fruity background.
Big thumbs up for atelier !!!

I’ve just recently come back to Vetiver Fatal after a long hiatus from it. I used to find it entirely too overpowering and assertive; now I love it. It is a rich plum with spicy, woodsy undertones. For some reason, Atelier’s website says it contains fig instead of plum. Weird.

I love this scent, it reminds me of the exhilarating essence of my beloved Gap Earth and Banana Republic Classic, BUT THERE IS NO SILLAGE, I hate when that happens!

Not fatal, just lovely. This cologne is fresh, green and loaded with violet leaf, a hint of citrus and a hint of smoky oud. It’s quite ozonic as well, from whatever note that may be. The violet leaves have a photorealism to them, a kind of crunchy textural smell and I love that. The base is a light and clean woody vetiver.
I wish I got something plummy here, because once again, I’m anosmic to this note. I have a couple of other samples with plum in them and the fruit revealed itself after a few wearings. I thought maybe it was a seasonal thing, but I think that I might have to start spraying a sock, storing it in a shoebox for a few weeks and then having a sniff, to get my nose used to the idea of plums (that sounds really tiring to have to do that for all of the plummy perfumes out there). Otherwise, for me, this isn’t very sweet at all and is predominately a green scent.
Soft to moderate sillage; lasts for about 4-5 hours.

Another incredible fragrance from Atelier Cologne! Yes, it resembles Vetiver Tonka quite a bit, but in my opinion, the quality you get in terms of price, it´s great. One of my favorite scents!

This scent is great! I would not describe it as a 100% clean scent like those Citrus based fragrances but it has such a beautiful earthy green scent to me.
I would compare this with the base of Green Irish Tweed (without the sprinkling lemon, iris and violets).
This is definitely worth a try for the Fougere and Earthy Green Woody fragheads!
8.5/10 and maybe even more in the future! Will use my decant till the last drop…

Smelled this at Sephoras and loved it at first sniff. I sprayed it on the wand and loved it from the beginning. Atelier Cologne is definitely a really good niche brand that unlike others, caters to and takes care of their fans. The deals/throw ins they offer are very customer friendly and is actually brilliant for an up and coming Niche Brand with quality great smelling frags.
Smelling Vetiver Fatal on my skin smelled a lot different than it did on the wand. Once it hit my skin I immediately thought of another Vetiver scent by Pal Zileri called Viaggio D’Africa. They are shockingly similar. Viaggio like Vetiver Fatal is also compared to Vetiver Tonka so these frags are very alike.
Viaggio is a lot more smokey to my nose however. Because of that I prefer it more. But Vetiver Fatal is a beautiful scent which exudes quality and makes a great impression when smelled by others. A suit takes scents like these to another level. As far as versatility goes this can be a year round work scent even though from the notes it appears to be better as a cold weather scent. Get your nose on this.
    7/10

As for the oud note I think they just put it n the notes to sell the juice nowadays.
I do detect some vetyver but it is faint, and light.its not overpowering but I could see some considering it a little on the feminine side.
It seems almost anything with the violet leaf note gives me a slight headache, except Tom Ford thankfully.
It is very pleasant and light but I would rather smell it on a girl than wear it myself.
I do get the plum ,reminds me of the Jon varvatos opening.
This is on the expensive side.

I truly agree with most of reviewers here. This is unlike many others vetivery frags that I’ve experienced so far. First of all you can absolutely exclude two notes here (Agarwood and Vetiver)!! They don’t exist and if it’s so then they are in tiny dose and far off. What I think of when I smell VF is creamy, oily, sweet alluring scent. violet leaf and plum combo is delicious and gives a buttery and sexy vibe to the scent. I love it.

Incredibly addicting scent. Like some others, I also keep smelling my arm. This has a nice balance of plum and vetiver. The plum note to me has a little bit of
