Description
Tom Ford launched Vanille Fatale, a new fragrance from the exclusive Private Blend collection, announced as impassioned, transfix and defiant.
“Vanille Fatale is a force of nature personified. A beguiling tempest that takes over like a rush of blood to the head. The impossible becomes real, too good to be true becomes true. Her – or his – unrelenting hold is fixed, refined yet raw, polished yet primal. The stirring spice of saffron and coriander opens the scent, infiltrating the senses with the gripping incense of myrrh and olibanum. Reverberating with the tobacco-like pull of roasted barley, the heart of Vanille Fatale is a perfect storm of roasted coffee absolute, narcissus and frangipani that seduces with grounded floralcy. Madagascan vanilla blends with rich mahogany, its smoky glamour made all the more exotic with primal suede at the finish.” – note from the brand.
Availabe as a 50 and a 250 ml EDP.
Vanille Fatale was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Yann Vasnier.
Night_Hunter1 – :
this is not a classically constructed fragrance so there will be inevitable detractors, while not the best work from TF it is on par with the average, and the house is consistently good. This example shows a bit more influence from the mainstream but it is still quite complex for a “one scent” dominated fragrance, vanilla
neadam – :
Maybe it’s just me, but on my skin this and Noir Pour Femme are at least cousins, if not siblings. I don’t get straight vanilla so much as I get the rich nougat of that other Tom Ford.
Really this is easy to wear, pretty, warm, almost chewy. But because I already have Noir Pour Femme and on me these are quite similar I won’t be buying a full bottle.

Vanilla, plum, coffee, smoke and a zillion other perfectly blended bells and whistles.
And it smells amazing.

Smells like a very raw and crude vanilla. I think it will be good to later on other perfumes but not worth the price tag.
alex1200 – :
Sadly just a very boring & flat vanilla fragrance that could remind one of JdP from SL if it were neutered.
Lasts ages… wish it didn’t.
3/10

I was expecting something fabulous. It’s all synthetic. Stinking.
Smells like paint.

I can see the women loving this one. Too sweet initially. It will actually turn a head or two in the air for a sniff. Smells like a very realistic, deep resinous vanilla pound cake. As for a man to wear, Nope, doesn’t work. I rather use it as a candle for the house, to prepare for a night with a date by the fire place etc

This stuff is amazing! Love potion no 9 ! I’m a huge fan of Tom Ford and this one does not disappoint!! I’m not a vanilla lover but this ….This right here. Is amazing!!!!!

Fragrance – Vanille Fatale Tom Ford
Bottle from – 2017
Vanille Fatale opens on my skin with a luxurious, moderatly sweet, spicy, sophisticated, boozy and a bit resinous vanilla laying on top of a fine leather.
As time goes by,during mid development, bouquet of a bit fruity flowers with an astonishing touch of coffee starts to emerge and bring some coziness into the game.
This all leads into a creamy, moderatly sweet, smoky and warm base with dominant vanilla and with the tender trace of tobacco.
I think it’s a unisex smell.A little bit more feminine, but it’s in the middle of the road.
Longevity – 9/10(9+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 8/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
Weather -best in autumn, winter and early spring.
Age – 25+
Compliments – 8/10
Scent – 8/10
Main notes according to me –
vanilla,spices,narcissus,myrrh,plum,coffee,suede.
The drydown is creamy, moderatly sweet, smoky and warm and I get some -vanilla,sandalwood,suede and tobacco.
Emotions -seductive,sensual,romantic,luxurious,comforting, sophisticated,warm.
Occasion -for more or less any ocasion.
Try before you buy.

If I didn’t know the actual name of this fragrance, I’d name it Fruity Rum Vanilla, or even more accurate, Velvet Good Girl, because to me it smells like a mixture of Tom Ford’s own Velvet Orchid and Carolina Herrera’s bestseller Good Girl. If you are familiar with these two fragrances, you can easily imagine what Vanille Fatale smells like. To be honest there’s nothing too ‘fatal’ about this fragrance, and vanilla is not a super-vanilla as in Indult Tihota for instance, but much more subdued. Some reviewers have also observed that it’s similar to By Kilian Back to Black, however I’d say that Tom Ford’s blend is more pleasant and less chaotic than BTB. Aside from vanilla, I can smell tonka, coffee, rum, spices, and loads of synthetic fruity notes, especially peach and plum. My skin always emphasises those fruity notes; interestingly, plum is much stronger in Vanille Fatale than in Plum Japonais! The longevity is great, and projection above average. While the spices and rum are supposed to divert this to the unisex territory, to me this is a very feminine scent.
Edit: I’ve just checked and, as I correctly guessed, Yann Vasnier who signed Vanille Fatale is also one of the creators of Velvet Orchid! No wonder they’re so similar.

A nice rich vanila gourmand fragrance. To be honest I was skeptical about this one. Yes I expect some ressemblence with tobacco vanille so yes I was disappointed on this point. It’s a nice rich vanilla, with coffee, suede , hints of rum, fruity and flowery scent. Its a feminine variation of TV without any doub but still a great piece of art!.
Good longevity 6 to 7 hours, a subtle fragrances (yes I do love that kind of sensual scent 😉 )
Must be amazing as a date fragrance, work in the office
Fall and winter only.
I give it a 6.5/10 for a men fragrance and 8.5/10 for a female fragrance (you wear if you want to)
Try before buy, Tom ford fragrances are expensive to be blind bought and better others fragrances for the price in my honest opinion

The Tom Ford brand can be used as a textbook example of how to build a fragrance empire with niche characteristics. The brand and the person behind it have always combined a strategy that involves distribution, price and marketing, but without ever losing focus on perfumes. As Creative Director of Fragrances Tom Ford has always been between the past and the present, rescuing classic ideas and giving them a luxurious outfit, with attention to detail. And that’s just what he does in Vanille Fatale.
I would say that the description of the perfume itself is one of the most ridiculous I have ever seen for the brand. The perfume is sold with all the ultra-exaggerated descriptions that are usually used to define the commercial perfumery marketing. Vanille Fatale seems to sell salvation and the miracle and it is necessary that you believe in it to buy the idea. There are also marketing touches in the olfactory pyramid, with the use / description of notes that do not generally impact the character of the perfume itself, such as saffron, coffee, barley and narcissus, for example. What holds these mannerisms different from many other perfumes is that there is a good composition when one strips off the absurd conceptual layers.
Vanille Fatale manages to sell well the idea of a fine, carnal vanilla and seems to look into the not-too-distant past to do so. Perhaps for the sake of selling vanilla and tobacco the immediate association makes it like a successor to Tobacco Vanille, but for me Vanille Fatale descends directly from the Hypnotic Poison creation of Annick Mernardo, a perfume that achieves the feat of using high doses of vanillin without making the perfume monotonous and too soft. The idea here is similar, a combo of almond notes, floral touches and vanilla, the difference lies in how this basic idea is worked out.
It turns here to what Tom Ford likes and knows how to do well, which is to rescue classic ideas and make them modern and desired again. For this, in a bed of vanilla and musks the vanilla angle is worked through the resins. There is an incense chord built using frankincense and myrrh, but the aroma itself seems to point more to the use of medicinal, sweet and incense nuances of benzoin. The almond-shaped idea of the output is sold by a more exotic tropical floral accord of frangipani and which makes already evident the vanilla and the classic resinous accord. The floral body is very discreet and is also a time where Vanille Fatale differs. Instead of a creamy and lactonic aroma of jasmine or a tabacco with honey nuances a floral body is practically transparent in the sense that the aroma of the base quickly advances and the details of rose, narcissus, coffee and other notes listed practically disappear. If you look for them on the skin you will surely notice a slightly roasted and flowery aura, but one that could have been embedded with any descriptor as a note for this stage given that it was meant to be abstract.
The secret to a Vanilla being Fatal lies precisely in its ability to maintain its comfortable appearance and its maternal nuances and to extend its performance and details. This Vanille Fatale does well, independent of complex pyramid and absurd marketing. That’s what Tom Ford hits again in his collection.
poit – :
I previously owned the masterpiece that is Tobacco Vanille.
I really enjoyed wearing it in the colder months, but some days I would prefer something along similar lines but a little softer in composition.
Vanille Fatale fits that bill perfectly, and is certainly different enough from Tobacco Vanille to warrant a purhcase.
Obviously the vanilla is front and centre here and is very nicely done, very soft and natural. Also in the mix is the barley, a kind of milk-chocolate vibe and marzipan (there is something of a Battenberg cake note) with the tiniest amount of smoke/ incense added just to provide something of an edge (or perhaps this is the mahogany listed in the notes).
This combination sounds odd but it really works.
I don’t get the reported leather or coffee here at all, which for me is just as well, I think leather would upset the whole thing.
Like all cold weather Tom Fords, this has legs. Two to three sprays and you are set for the full day and night.

Actually regular Tobacco Vanille is much better

I just tried this one yesterday, and I will be a worst enemy to TF Vanilla fan’s for what I will say now: This frag. is very much one way projection it doesen’t even smell like a proper vanilla, but some sweet stuff without any excitement.
I suggest anyone who smelled this but is not certain what is missing in this scent to try MUGLER PURE HAVANNE which smells so delicious, sexy with excellent projection and aromas, and VR SPICEBOMB EXTREME. Both of mentioned frags. are miles away nicer that this TF. This is my personal opinion and recommendation about vanilla based frags.
nurik-102 – :
Never say never. But I dare claim I´ll never be disappointed with any TF perfume. Look at this – I´m not into vanilla perfumes – but I love Tobacco Vanille & Vanille Fatale.
Vanille Fatale is an olfactory delight. It´s a universe made of warm & smoky resins, honey-sweet narcissus pollen, mild & milky barley, arabica coffee, creamy vanilla & heart-warming port wine. It´s a delicate, smooth & narcotic pleasure. Just deluxe.
PARENTAL ADVISORY: This fragrance will put a spell on you.
narimantas – :
On skin: What a lovely vanilla. It’s warmer and spicier in feeling than either 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods or Atelier Cologne Vanille Incensee. It also lacks the slightly off putting (to me) background notes of either.
This one is very much worth testing again.
Edit: Beware though, a single spray scented my entire flat.
StedfiqUY – :
This is definitely a man’s scent. I have it to my husband and he loves it. It smells wonderful and sexy on him. It’s very strong though so spray with a light hand…
brandt13427 – :
Tested this again yesterday at Bloomingdales and still a NO for me. But now I can add my own words, instead of just my husband’s words in my previous review 🙂
Vanille Fatale also reminds me of expensive…women’s cigarette, the smell that I now remember sniffing it in restaurants when we were in Paris few years ago (French perfumes + French smoke = Tom Ford Vanille Fatale???) 🙂 And who knows, companies that make cigarette vaporizers might come up with scents like this for their products already :))

To Kenzoh25: I did not catch your review sooner…In my previous review I did not compare this perfume with White Suede, as I know that they are two very different fragrances. What I meant in that comment was that, when it came to “leather” note, I prefer White Suede.

I absolutely love vanilla scents, and I wear Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille very regulary (I am on huge decanter #2). I really thought I would love Vanille Fatale, and sadly I do not! There is of course no sweet tobacco note, and the vanilla (on me) is not that pronounced. It smells on my skin like a combo of Tom Ford Black Orchid, regular Tom Ford for men with a hint of amber-vanilla. Of course, since I do not love it….longevity is excellent and sillage is decent. For like 1/16th the price, if you like vanilla; Outremer Vanille is wonderful. More expensive, but still less than Tom Ford…Montale Paris Vanille Absolu is excellent too. I love, love Tom Ford scents, Vanille Fatale is a no for me. I have and do regularly wear his Tobacco Vanille, Patchouli Absolu and Noir de Noir. All 3 are amazing!
alex-tap – :
Soft, creamy, understated. It doesn’t try too hard, it sits on your skin beautifully, like a warm cup of mocha where the aroma just unfurls into the air. The perfect fragrance for ultimate comfort. Also good for layering! Added to my wishlist 🙂
smirnovs – :
On 1st testing, I got simply a linear vanilla; soft, a little creamy and a little too close to vanilla-pod suntan but it had a tiny hint of balmyness to it.
For me, this is better than Mr Ford’s own TV and CD FD combined as it avoids the annoying cloying-almondy note in TV and the awful, weird minty-rosemary toffee opening of FD.
Not bad then!
But I want more and need more from this house; way too overhyped imo but this is nice, I *could buy this decanted or on a heavy discount but only after I tst more – there’s a lot of notes there that I do not quite get especially like the coffee and precious resin (Silver frankincense) and plum(?!)
I really want those; otherwise I’ll have to settle on downmarking this scent by 1 for being simply disappointing and overpriced for being just a nice vanilla-solifore
That would boost my score nicely. But for now, just for being Safe and much more well-mannered and simply just safer and better than *all TF’s and CD’s Privee line put together, this has to squeak into a 7
My rating: 7/10
kiloton – :
On me It’s a smoky vanilla scent. When I was wearing It I was asked if I’m wearing an Oud fragrance.
sergei-ps – :
To my opinion, it is a better Feve Délicieuse, since it is a bit more multidimensional. It is more spicy and plummy, just a bit. If you like FD but find it too make-up like and powdery, give this one a go.
t1014 – :
Watered down Dior Five Delicious to my nose.
Meanp599intitytek – :
Ultra-sweet (you could almost get a toothache) vanilla that feels smooth, creamy and a bit boozy. To my nose, it’s like you made a cream soda float and let it sit for a couple of hours – the soda goes flat and the vanilla ice cream melts, and you decide to splash a bit of syrupy sweet booze in before drinking it. Definitely a fragrance made for bone-chillingly cold days; the boozy sweetness of this would be too cloying for any other season than winter.
kvint09 – :
SWEET BABY JESUS!!!!!!!!!!
I had another lovely Fragrantician send me a sample and I am head over heels from first sniff!!!! And if you look at my wardrobe and say, oh this girl likes only sweet scents, you are wrong!
What does it smell like? It is quality vanilla, woody notes, myrrh and suede on my skin. Is it sweet? It is, but not like anything I own. (meaning not sweet like my girlie girl scents that i own) It is vanilla and myrrh sweet but also spicy aromatic, if that is a category. It is that scent that makes you want to get closer and cuddle. It is that scent that will stop someone dead in their tracks and make them follow you to ask what you are wearing. It is certainly wearable by females and males alike. Groundbreaking…no. But, this is still a must have, especially for vanilla lovers. Best for cooler months.
Zed-jordan – :
The opening makes me gag; A sticky sweet, waxy vanilla and frangipani that projects with nauseating potency. However, the dry down is more bearable and a touch more sophisticated.
A base of plush suede and rich mahogany is ghosted with the vague tinge of coffee bean, adding a boozy resonance to the vanilla, which makes it feel more sultry and subdued. The texture is smooth, warm and…chewy. It doesn’t quite have the bold, smoky leather of “Anubis” which I was hoping for, but it’s definitely an alluring vanilla scent that would suit a romantic dinner date, though my advice would be to apply an hour before leaving the house so that cloying sweetness has time to dull down.
It’s a feminine gourmand for sure, I don’t think any man could pull this off.
muhotycyjo – :
This is balsamic, smoky and non-sweet vanilla perfume which is also fresh and air. I guess this smoky effect comes from birch tar.
I never like Tobacco Vanille because, it is too sweet for my test. Vanilla Fatale is simple but somehow more characteristic than Tobacco Vanille iny my opinion. If you are Tobacco Vanille fan, you can’t like Vanilla Fatale.
flouttSox – :
This one can be pretty deceiving I think. If you are to go by the not even at least first 5 mins of this on my skin. The first blast smells pretty damn good. Its certainly a bit feminine at first as well, but not in a bad way.
However after that theres something about it that for hours and hours, as it is transitioning throughout its life span and into the base that smells a little.. Off.
I see the play-doh comparisons. But another one id like to give is you know jeux de peau from SL? Well something about it kinda reminds me of that fragrance in that, it smells good, and theres a yummyness to it.. but it also smells like something that smelled better the day before but you are only just getting to it now. Like… a donut from yesterday. Its still a donut so thats pretty cool. But you wish you ate it the day before.
So ya something about this fragrance reminds me of that one, and I get the same feeling as well it smells good.. but … off.
And once it dries down into its final form it reminds me of something like a givenchy pi, or maybe pi extreme flanker.
Although it hasnt blasted off my skin whenever ive worn it ive gotten a pretty steady bubble around me throughout the day and could still smell myself well into the night. So performance was fine depending on your perspective of what you wanted out of it I think.
I1967M – :
The most wearable vanilla for men. The smoke cuts the sweetness, so you end up with a piece of luxurious pound cake and a cigar afterwards.
leroyert – :
I gave this another try and I’m so glad I did. I don’t know if I had the sniffles when I wrote my first review of this or what, but I take back almost everything I said about this.
But first, let’s start with what I don’t take back. It DOES smell a lot like Velvet Orchid to me (maybe even moreso like Velvet Orchid Lumiere), with the vanilla amped way up, which as a vanilla lover, I much prefer over VO. I said it was sharper and more synthetic than VO, but I no longer think that. I get a syrupy, somewhat sharp honey from it, but not in a bad way. I don’t really like VO, but I’ve always felt that with a few tweaks, I could love it. If you love VO, try this. If you hate VO, you probably won’t like VF. If, like me, you dislike VO but *could* like it with a few changes, try this. Another thing that unfortunately hasn’t changed since my last review is that I still don’t sense any coffee, but it’s ok, I enjoy VF for what it is.
I honestly don’t smell most of the listed notes. What I do smell is a lot of vanilla (of course), some sweet myrrh and syrupy honey. As the name implies, it’s a very femme fatale sort of scent, almost vampy/goth, but sweet enough to appeal to those who love gourmands too. It’s very glamorous as well. At this point, not only do I not regret purchasing my decant anymore but I actually want a full bottle of this. It appeals to the side of me that loves vampy, sexy femme fatale scents just as much as the side that loves sweet, girly gourmands. It’s on-trend as far as the sweet vanillic scents that are in vogue right now, but also different enough that it’s e worth testing even if you have dozens of gourmands already.
Bonus: My husband sniffed my neck, breathed in deeply and said, “you smell GREAT!” with a big smile. It also has amazing sillage and longevity. Huzzah! I’m definitely a VF lover now♡
methadonezs – :
I wanted to love this, I adore vanilla, but unfortunately I really dislike it. All the notes sound great to me but there’s something sharp and plastic-like in this. The sharp note is similar to Velvet Orchid, I’m not sure which note is causing this effect, but unlike Velvet Orchid it also reminds me of burning plastic. Other than that, it’s just like Tobacco Vanille minus the tobacco. I’ll stick with TV. Too bad, I was fully expecting to love this, but it’s definitely not worth the price to me and honestly, I wouldn’t wear it if it were free. My decant is collecting dust. On the bright side, if you do like it, this is very unisex for a sweet vanilla. In fact, I think I’d rather smell it on a man. It has a roughness to it that I dislike but might work quite well on a man. Maybe it’s the myrrh-I rarely have luck with that note. Another disappointing thing is that I can’t smell ANY coffee 🙁
ivan2003 – :
On my skin, Vanille Fatale is a floral vanilla with a hint of spice but not much smoke and suede. I must say that I’m a bit disappointed because the notes here were leading me to believe there’d be more – I’m very jealous of everyone whose skin chemistry allows the nuanced base notes to shine! I also don’t see many similarities between Vanille Fatale and Tobacco Vanille because even the characteristics of the vanilla are different. Vanille Fatale is a powdery sweetened vanilla (think artificial sweetener a la Diet Coke) but Tobacco Vanille is a milky non-processed vanilla. I get tons of delicious smoky pipe tobacco immediately with TV, and nothing but barley and florals with VF. This is pleasant and feminine, but not breathtaking. Smells quite young and submissive. Nothing like the ad copy leads you to believe.
Сергусик – :
To me, this smells like a very unbalanced and poor copy of Dior’s Fève Délicieuse. A highly spiced and smokey beginning dries down to a amber-ish vanilla that, to be honest, is not very nice. I can see why some people say “Tobacco Vanille” without the tobacco as there are some elements in common. However, Tobacco Vanille is much, much nicer with a more balanced profile. This is one of the first Tom Ford fragrances I actually had to wash off because I found it that unpleasant. The barley combines to create a bouillon note that quite frankly, has no place in perfumery. Perhaps it just reacted badly with my skin, or my nose picks up some odd notes in it, but I cannot imagine anyone wanting to smell like this. 🙁
shdv1 – :
To me, the opening spray smells like Fucking Fabulous with a powdered vanilla emphasis.
The drydown, however. . ..WOW. It reminded me of Amber Absolute with an added leathery feel.
If I’m being honest, I’m not giving this fragrance a fair chance to grow on me, because i don’t like the powdery vanilla opening. If i let it, though, I’m sure that drydown would get me hooked.
For me personally, this is way better than Fucking Fab, but not nearly as good and alluring as Tobacco Vanille. Glad I tried it, but I will be skipping this one in the future.
wenAxosekeeno – :
Vanille Fatale is a perfectly lovely vanilla scent with the staying power to back it up. Is it worth the price? If you’re a Tom Ford loyalist who’s willing to pay through the teeth to get anything put out by him.
I don’t say that as a bad thing, but … it’s very expensive. Want to buy but cannot. Maybe a bit jealous heh
qvb257Bessinepome – :
Tobacco Vanille without tobacco?! No!
I fell tobacco here, though not that much. To me Vanille Fatale is something inbetween of Tobacco Vanille and Mon Guerlain. The mature vanilla of Tobacco Vanille with some tobacco and that cherry fruitiness of Mon Guerlain. Lovely, and more feminine than TV.

Whoever said this is TF Tobacco Vanille minus the tobacco was spot on. Gorgeous and long lasting but I prefer TV.

Not sure why the fragrantican below me compares Vanille Fatale to White Suede as they are totally different scents in my opinion. VF is excellent vanilla scent with woods, some slight florals and a hint of coffee in the background. I’ve been wearing it for the last couple of days and I made the conclusion that if you’re a fan of Dior Feve Délicieuse you might wanna give Vanille Fatale a shot as in my opinion they are quite similar but still different to justify to own both. The only thing I wish VF had is better projection as its longevity is great on my skin. Criminally underrated!
Archangel-85 – :
“It rather smelled as if you just came out from one of some cheap clubs on one of those dirty streets in down town San Francisco around 2am”.
THAT was the “fatal” statement from my beloved husband while we were perfume testing at Bloomingdale’s and I just sprayed it on my wrist.
And THAT was my closure for this one :)) SORRY Vanille Fatale!
I enjoy Tom Ford White Suede much better when it comes to “leather” note. That one is more classy and actually smells expensive.
begenec – :
This opens with a rather synthetic vanilla note that is VERY very syrupy and sweet. On my skin, this disappeared within 5 minutes or so and a heavenly herbacious vanilla and incense aroma evolved, with undertones of raw coffee. This phase was very decadent and intoxicating. The dry down wasn’t very different to that, there was an added rich cocoa facet. The longevity on my skin is rather poor, after an hour and a half of projecting like a beast, it died down significantly and wore close to my skin. It’s a nice fragrance, but nothing spectacular in my opinion.
lehan251 – :
Tobacco Vanille without tobacco. More feminine for sure. Very linear. Extremely long wearing. Not worth the money.

Whilst it certainly doesn’t smell bad, cheap, or run-of-the-mill, it does smell remarkably similar to TF Noir Extreme. Cheers, Tom, but I’ll stick with free samples of Noir Extreme when I feel like wearing that smell once or twice a year.
yuriy.usanin – :
On my skin, there isn’t much of any evolution in Vanille Fatale. It’s a soft, velvety, slightly floral and milky vanilla right from the beginning until the end, and there isn’t any substantial woody, smoky or boozy aspects that manifests on my skin.
During the first 2 hours, I can indeed detect a cereal-like note hiding underneath the milky, slightly oily vanilla, which must be the barley note mentioned in the pyramid. Afterwards, it turns into an abstract, subtle woody/powdery texture in order to keep vanilla from turning excessively creamy. I quite enjoy this stage of Vanille Fatale, which reminds me of the soft vanilla sugar powder in Van Cleef & Arpels Orchidée Vanille. However, this delicately dry undertone keeps veering off its initial course and turning screechy in the late dry down. Granted, it’s far from being as aggressive as in certain “smoky” fragrances, but this sharp insurgence is jarring next to the gentle, smooth vanilla.
Vanille Fatale is mostly a skin scent and lasts about 9 hours on my skin.
Despite the occasional screeches, Vanille Fatale is overall a pretty, velvety, slightly feminine vanilla that is quite enjoyable and is restrained on its sweetness. But at the same time, it’s uncomplicated and over-reliant on the smoothness of vanilla that it evetually appears flat and uninspiring to me. I can not deny that it would make a versatile everyday vanilla fragrance, but at its current price, I would hesitate to recommend it considering that there’s no shortage of more affordable vanilla fragrances either more interesting or as versatile as Vanille Fatale.
ambrek – :
Love it but can’t find the right event to wear it. For something as sofisticated as this it deserves some sort of black tie special occasion..

I got a sample of this and experienced it recently.
Automatically it was a NO. I could not believe how light I perceive it was. I was already prepared to be upset if it fleeted 2 hour later. This was not fatal at all , it seem to be running on fumes. Vanille Fumes would have been a better title
However, 2 hrs in, it was still there, balanced actually. It was not too strong, like most vanilla scent are –it was wonderfully personal. It was even there after 8 hours –now I could smell the other notes , like the barley for instance. It actually ended up lasting into the next morning. ( $200.00+ fragrances should after all)
However, is it worth the 230.00 USD! Probably not,-not for me at least! There so many other vanilla scent that refute this price.(such as Diptyque Duelle/which I purchase while I was wearing this(so hurtful) — and if you are looking for a liqueur base vanilla –try West Third Brand Old Bourbon-less than 40.00 USD) Fatale is too soft and in that it is unique for a vanilla, but it would have been better in Tom Ford’s signature collection( a nicer cousin to Black Orchid, a much better vanilla by the way— and Orchid Soliel.)
Vanille Fatale is wonderful composed, soft but very sophisticated vanilla fragrance and may be the right vanilla for many, but I will have to give it time before I consider it. Maybe my expectation were too high! Hmm!

I love love love Tom Ford fragrances. Perfumes, scents, frags is a new and exciting hobby for me and my nose is not as refined as many reviewers. For me, Tom has had a bit of hit and misses over the past year or so. I just got a decant of Vanille Fatale so here are my initial thoughts. As I wear it, it seems to lean a bit feminine for my taste. it’s not as cloying as Tobacco Vanille and is it own scent. I think the scent is dark with notes of coffee maybe a bit of leather but overall a vanilla scent. It reminds me a bit of Black Phantom by Kilian. It isn’t bottle worthy for me but I think some people will love the fragrance.

Smells like maple syrup and rum & raisin. I’m not disappointed but I’m not impressed either. I like Fucking fabulous better. Crucify me.
Gadjievo – :
I agree with the few reviews below. I just received my decant this afternoon. It definitely is a vanilla fragrance. Which to me, opens with a strong vanilla note, followed by florals. I do not get any of the coffee, the barley, or the mahogany notes as of right now.
While this does initially sway feminine, once it settles I find a man can wear this. Definitely a gourmand scent. Now, to where it all matters… Is it bottle worthy? I would only say yes if you like a strong vanilla scent. I do not even get much of the saffron or coriander (it may take a few wearings to smell those notes) but I would say I am glad I have a decant, and would most likely live off of it until I run out. The vanilla is lovely though. Not a sickly sweet type or syrupy vanilla I was expecting. I like this vanilla as much as like it in Tobacco Vanille.
Vanille Fatale overall is a great scent which will appeal to those with a sweeter palate. Projection is great, longevity is to be determined, but for a wrist application I’d say very solid. Price point, I’d say fair compared to the other Private Blend offerings. Not like the prices of FF or TOI, or OWI.
I’m going to give this fragrance a sweet 8/10.
