Lavanilas True Vanilla is one main perfume I wear, so I was excited to get something of theirs more citrusy and uplifting for summer. This perfume was not citrusy nor uplifting. It was a total dud for me.
I expected crisp, lively and upbeat grapefruit to walk hand-in-hand skipping happily with vanilla. What I got was an some vanilla utterly eclipsed by an aggressive blast of musk and a sharpness that I assumed was to be the grapefruit without any true citrus notes. How one reviewer said they smelled orange creamsicle is truly beyond me. I agree with the reviewer below who said this was masculine and by golly, it is overwhelmingly masculine.
I enjoy the musk in their True Vanilla as it keeps it from being too generic, but the musk in this fragrance is so masculine I get that cheaply aggressive Axe body spray loudness from it and I loathe Axe with a passion. Safe to say, I sold my bottle. Go with True Vanilla of you are interested in the Lavanila brand.

This was a blind buy because of the great reviews on here, but I’m still not sure how i feel about this fragrance. I love light warm scents, so the reviews captured my attention and i assumed i would love this one. However, I smell heavy orange/grapefruit notes that aren’t crisp, but instead VERY creamy. This smells exactly like orange creamsicle. From the reviews, I was thinking it would be pure vanilla with a dash of freshness but thats not the case. If you are looking for an extremely gourmand fragrance, then try this out. The first time I sprayed it though, I hated it because it reminded me of cologne and smelt masculine, which I assume is the woodiness. I’ve gotten over that part but I’m still unsure of where I should wear this too. It seems too sweet for school/work but not fancy enough for a night out. I have been wearing it to bed and wake up to sweet smelling hair, which is amazing. This is a very long lasting perfume and I like the vanilla with a twist, dry down but I don’t think this is super wearable for everyday. I was honestly thinking it would smell like crisp vanilla but that’s not the case so if you don’t want to smell like actual orange creamsicles then just ignore this fragrance haha!

Just picked this up at Marshalls on clearance for $4.50! This is a really pretty citrus vanilla. Nothing spectacular, but it’s clean and sweet. This is one of those perfumes that I’ll apply before going to sleep. It is very comforting. I noticed a lot of people said spring/summer, but this is totally doable in the fall/winter too. It’s very heartwarming.

Tart opening! This scent is bruleed sugar, vanilla extract, grapefruit juice and a touch of what smells like patchouli. It’s a warm and kinda sexy scent. Lavanilla seems to do a good vanilla that is not chemical or sickening. Simple, VERY sweet, but definitely a crowd pleaser/compliment getter. This is not a high brow scent but it smells amazing on my skin and is great for layering. I tend to use this in the spring / summer, at night.

This is a nice scent! Easy to wear and enjoy. It’s warm and bright, and there is a pleasant earthiness to it, which I suppose comes from the sandalwood. The aroma is very natural. Longevity is about 4 hours before I touch it up. Sillage is just perfect. Not too strong – people will inch closer to you when you’re wearing it. I think this could be worn any time of year, but I like it best in summer and winter. Suits all occasions, except perhaps for very formal ones. A safe blind buy if you like sweet vanilla scents.

This isn’t a refreshing grapefruit scent at all, though “vanilla” should’ve tipped you off to that. If you’re like me, and like anything that smells even remotely like a Creamsicle, this is for you. Growing up, I used to put vanilla extract in my grapefruit juice and that’s what this reminds me of. It has a slightly musky or woody note to it that prevents it from being TOO sweet. I love it.

Ive had a couple samples i got when i ordered the other vanillas…i actually enjoy this one alot! Its sweet and tart in the beginning..then dries to vanilla with a twist! Cant go wrong with it.

I am so weird! I set out to choose between Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere and V&R Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose. At Macy’s I sprayed both on either wrist and set off to do some more shopping. The guy helping me actually caught up with me and tried pushing Alien Extraordinare, which is also nice so I sprayed in on my inner elbow! Then I went into Sephora and my little distractible by perfume mind got side-tracked yet again, and I started sniffing around the Hermes line. I’m so glad I decided to get samples of some of the ones I thought I’d love instead going for a FB of anything. But then, I saw the Lavanila…..the rest is history!
I have Guerlain AA Pamplelune and I do like it a lot. However, that is a summer citrus blast where this is probably more year round. The top notes are juicy red grapefruit that morph into a lime-esque citrus. It is so nice and would lead one to believe it’s a summer only scent. But the dry down is a magnificent vanilla that is so rich and beautiful. I agree that it’s something for vanilla lovers who want something with an added twist. The grapefruit does make it unique and luscious but then the vanilla becomes velvety and sweet. With such a huge range of options on my mind today, I have to admit, I’m shocked I left with this above all the others! But it is so modern and delicious at the same time. I am positive I will love it for years to come.

I bought this perfume years ago and for once in my perfume-loving life, I actually used the whole bottle down to the last spritz, which is rare for me. I forgot about it for 8 years, than I bought a rollerball at sephora and now I’m upset I’ve ignored this for years. I love it!!! I’ll agree with previous reviewers, this is NOT for you if youre hoping for more citrus than vanilla. The citrus notes, at least on me, all but disappear quickly. It’s mostly vanilla after that. But on me, it’s an almost dark vanilla that kinda turns masculine, which I actually really like. I disagree that this is mostly a warm weather scent. With my chemistry, I think this works better in cooler weather.
Edit: does anyone find this line of perfumes goes bad quickly? I’ve had my bottle for less than two years and it smells off……..next time I’m just getting a rollerball…….

I should like this, I like both vanilla and grapefruit, but I find this blend a little too cloying and sweet. The green note somehow makes it worse for me, which is also odd. Very summery, in a sticky-sweet sort of way.

I discovered this scent after a blind buy from Sephora. It’s my favorite of the Lavanila line. I purchased the rollerball and loved the combo of fresh and sweet (as did my beau– he once commented, “mm, is this your secret?” Another side note, studies on scent have shown most men respond positively to vanilla and grapefruit. Of course, I realize every person is different and processes scents individually!) I bought the full spray to add as a companion to my rollerball, and I was surpisingly disappointed. I have no idea why the rollerball and spray differ so much on me. The rollerball is cheaper, though, and so easy to transport, so it all turned out good!

I love citrus smell, grapefruit particularly. This perume smells amazing… for a first few hours. Once the grapefruit disappears it smells to sweet, like the type of sweetness that makes me a little sick.

THERE IS NO PATCHOULI IN THIS. There is also ZERO PATCHOULI in Lavanila’s Pure Vanilla scent. Just go to their official website and read the dang notes/ingredients. I love patchouli, I have a bunch of straight patchouli oils as well as fruit-chouli fragrances, so trust me when I say that there has been a mistake. Okay. Sorry ’bout that.
Vanilla Grapefruit is a good year-round scent but it is very sweet, so if you can’t do big sweetness in summer, take note. I love this scent because it goes through a truly surprising transformation, as other reviewers have observed. It starts out edible pretty, and naturally sweet grapefruit, but before long it transforms into a delicious vanilla pastry supported by a detectable level of milky sandalwood, with all citrus at a minimum. My boyfriend LOVES the drydown, and always compliments me when he leans in close. Longevity and projection are both good.
This is the very first fragrance where I did that thing that so many people on this site have talked about: Smelling something great yet mysterious, and then realizing that something, is you!
I was riding the subway and thinking, “wow! Someone smells insanely good. What are the odds that I should be seated next to a fellow vanilla lover…” Then on a hunch, I raised my wrist to my nose and went, “I don’t believe it. It was me all along.” I actually laughed out loud. Love you Vanilla Grapefruit! A multi-layered pastry directly from heaven.

I make no pretense about my obsession with vanilla fragrances. The biggest issue that comes with loving such scents is finding ones with unique notes blended into a vanilla base to keep it from being too saccharin and sickly sweet. Vanilla Grapefruit is one of the most beautiful vanilla scents I own. It is like Shalimar’s sweeter, cuter teenage sister.
The scent opens with a bite of pink citrus and settles into more of a lime note. You get more of the cedar wood notes in the drydown but the vanilla softens it and keeps it sweet and delicious. The vanilla note is not a super foody cupcake vanilla, nor is it a flat powdery floral vanilla– more of a true vanilla bean pod freshly opened. It is extremely creamy and smells absolutely gorgeous once the scent has been worn for a few hours.
For those that want to capitalize on the “freshness” of grapefruit, this is not for you. This fragrance errs much more on the side of gourmand than zesty citrus and the grapefruit note becomes more of a backdrop for the vanilla. But if you love vanilla scents with a twist, this is for you.

I love Vanilla-Grapefruit! A bit potent at first, but once you get past the first minute or two, it becomes a yummy lemon pastry. Even my hubby has commented on it and he doesn’t care for perfume. Great longevity and sillage too, especially for a ‘natural’ perfume. All in all, a delicious, year-round wearable vanilla.

Sweet warm vanilla with just a touch of grapefruit & lime. Surprizingly very good together with the citrus giving it a refreshing feeling. Sillage starts good at about 6-8 inches. drydown loses most the citrus but the vanilla stays strong at a couple inches. Longevity was great at over 8 hours on me.
I can’t stand green notess and usually avoid grapefruit but I got this as a free sample and I’m loving it..

This is such an uplifting perfume with the citrus and warm, comforting vanilla that envelopes you in its embrace. I also love that the ingredients are all natural – no synthetics to get it the way or induce headaches! The only qualm I have with this fragrance is that it’s just on the verge of being too sickly sweet when I wear it. It makes me feel sick to the stomach if I haven’t eaten in awhile, but I am a reactive hypoglycemic with an incredibly fast metabolism, so I think that may be the reason why I can’t stand fragrances that are too sweet/foodie, because I’m ALWAYS hungry. :/ But, I digress. This is a lovely perfume with an ingenious combination of notes. I haven’t smelled anything like it, and it always makes the sun shine a little brighter! It’s so comforting, I can imagine wearing this on a warm, summer day under an citrus tree reading a book and feeling the warm breeze caress my face.
EDIT: Yesterday I wore this, and on my way to my family’s house, I kept thinking about fresh donuts, and when I arrived, my little sisters kept commenting on how it smelled like fresh, delicious donuts and melting marshmallows. I put two and two together and let them smell my arm, and we all realized what it was – this perfume! This has GOT to be my next perfume purchase (as I have a small sample of it right now). In love!

This is such a delicious fragrance! I am not a big fan of gourmand fragrances tend to go for more fruity or fresh scents, especially if they are citrusy. I got a sample of this and figured I’d like it due to the grapefruit, but I love the vanilla!! On me the vanilla is very prominent and the citrus makes a short appearance at the beginning. I put it on yesterday out of the shower after I had already applied a bath and body works vanilla lotion. I came downstairs and from far away my fiance said I smelled sweet (he’s particular about scents, he tends to like sweet perfumes). This was at 2 and when I got back home around 9 he commented and said that he could still smell the vanilla and that it smelled nice. I have many sweet perfumes and this is the first he’s commented on. It is strong though, so he advisesd to not overdo it. I personally love it, it is the purest most natural vanilla perfume that I have and I could still smell it on my chest the next morning. It is feminine and the citrus helps give it an edge. Amazing, will purchase soon w/lotion! Please note that the vanilla lotion I layered with it hardly has any lasting power or smell, so it had nothing to do with the sillage/longevity of the perfume.

The patchouli and the bitterness of the grapefruit just do not mix with the sweetness of the vanilla for me. Did last a long time though. Might be better on others but not for me! Very jumbled smelling, like it couldn’t quite decide if it wanted to be fresh, sweet, or earthy.

I bought the oil roll-ball. I like the fact that this sent is all natural, as I do not like chemicals. It is truly surprisingly long lasting. I am not in love with this scent. But when I put it on it makes me happy. It is sweet, but the grapefruit isn’t very potent. It mostly smells like vanilla with a little twist.

I have tried Vanilla/Coconut and Vanilla and enjoyed limited success with them. But I very much enjoyed the fragrance this mixture deployed. A Sephora SA suggested the grapefruit one to me after I had talked about the limited longevity of the other two I had tried. I was hesitant, but took her suggestion and gave this one a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. This one has staying power and a deliciously refreshing summer scent.
A mix of vanilla and grapefruit, I never thought possible. Five hours into my initial spray, I wasn’t bored at all. I was still enjoying LaVanilla Grapefruit. It doesn’t matter what age you are to enjoy this light, airy fragrance for the summer or spring. When you want something unobtrusive, that has lasting power, yet is still light enough this just might be for you. The notes that stood out for me were lime, patchouli, bergamot and sandalwood. All in a delicious mix. Now this doesn’t remind me of anything grapefruit at all. It’s just a heavenly, dreamy, warm, inviting, creamy, vanilla. I’m an original Body Shop vanilla person and I adore true vanilla scents that blend well with the right notes. This one does and belies its name. Even tho I have the plain vanilla, I prefer this one called grapefruit. Go figure.
A good sport fragrance, a leisure frag, a scent that that is just there to make you feel good. That’s what this one is about. I doubt it’s destined to be a powerhouse perfume, go down in history or be written in the annals of the history of decadent perfumes. But if you’re longing for a feel-good scent in the warmer weather or one to go to bed and be cozy with, Vanilla Grapefruit might be your ticket.

A prime example of just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. There is a reason why this mix isn’t done elsewhere. The vanilla is lovely and gourmand, the grapefruit is real–together they are locked in mortal combat, with the vanilla coming out on top, bloodied and beaten. I will stick with vanilla coconut, thank you!

Just found this in the oil version. I recently bought the coconut one from QVC and am still paying it off, when of course i went to TJ Maxx and found Lavanila perfume for 19.99 (which is the equivalant of 1 qvc payment) and the roll on oil for 9.99. TJ Maxx has great buys on perfume just that its hit or miss. Anyway I digress, I didn’t think I would like the grapefruit but its very subtle , vanilla is much more dominant, i even like it better than the coconut which is surprising since i always love coconut, so i was very happy to get this one on my shelf!

I was intrigued by the idea of combining grapefruit and vanilla, but on me this smells like an orange Creamsicle–not unpleasant by any means, just not as astringent as I would have expected the grapefruit note to be. A nice, light, cheerful scent though.

  27. :

    4 out of 5

I bought the eau de parfum, and I really love it. I am very attracted to vanilla scents, but I was unsure of how I would feel about the citrus. Let me just say that the vanilla and grapefruit together smell great.
The vanilla is warm and rich; it’s not a cheap sweet, sticky smell. The grapefruit is light and refreshing, which gives the perfect kick to start off my day. When I first spray the perfume, the aroma of citruses is very present, and I can faintly smell the creamy, inviting vanilla lingering behind the bitter grapefruit. However, the citruses fade rather quickly on my skin, about 1 hour or so after applying. The vanilla, on the other hand, is definitely the star in this perfume and lasts for many hours. When the perfume is sprayed on my clothing though, the citrus scent will persist for a while longer than when it is on my skin.
I also love how this perfume is not packed with so many ingredients and chemicals and that the simplicity of the scent does not compromise the uniqueness of this perfume. It’s light enough to wear on a daily basis and is so inviting. My only wish is that the citrus would last longer or at least have a better blend with the vanilla.
I have also tried on the Pure Vanilla, which is deliciously creamy and warm, but I prefer the Vanilla Grapefruit because the splash of citrus adds some texture to the vanilla and is a heavenly combination—it’s the best of both worlds. Definitely give this perfume a try. 5/5

i’m really loving this in the cold weather. a fine vanilla with a touch of grapefruity citrus. i really can’t stop smelling my wrists. this also lasts pretty much all day on my skin. this was an excellent blind buy for me.

This is my hot summer nights perfume. It makes me smell like I was dipped in a lemon drop!
Not as sweet as your typical vanilla fragrance, the grapefruit really matures the scent and makes it more sophisticated.
I find the silage really great and putting it on my pulse points means that I get “bursts” of scent throughout the day.
This is the one vanilla fragrance I have that did not get complaints at the office (haters!)…maybe because it’s not as sweet as Pink Sugar/etc.

  30. :

I don’t find this to be citrus or vanilla at all. It’s very spicy with sandalwood notes. I detect no grapefruit at all.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

This smells really good but has a very strong vanilla smell. Wish there was more grapefruit. This is headache inducing though. I bought this one, I thought it would be better on my nose and head because it’s all natural but I was mistaken. Smells like vanilla straight from the pure vanilla extract bottle for cooking.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

Yes, it is true the grapefruit wears off in the first ten minutes of wear. What is left behind is beautiful, a warm, slightly spicy, vanilla and sandlewood combo that stays all day. To me this scent is what I would call a comfort scent, makes you feel at home. Its sexy in the same way a really soft oversized off the shoulder sweater would be.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

I really like this frag at first, but the grapefruit burns off too quickly. I tried the spray and the roll on edp at Sephora.
I’m hoping that the “forever” oil version allows the graprefruit to last longer.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

This is a really lovely, different take on vanilla. The citrus really cuts through the sweetness and makes this wonderfully balanced. Pretty decent staying power. Inoffensive but not boring.
A note on the packaging for those who care about it. The rollerball is nice and feels pretty durable. Would recommend for those who see this as a seasonal fragrance and are OK with that method of application. Great for travel.
The spray bottles are fine, except the cap is definitely cheapy. If you are into displaying your fragrances – it doesn’t look great. However, if you would rather spray this fragrance, and you like to layer this (as I do) with other spray fragrances then well, you’ll just have to deal.
I think the reasonable price, and this lovely scent more than make up for a cheap cap.

  35. :

This is a great “go-to” summer fragrance when you don’t wish to think too hard. I don’t think it’s possible for this to offend anyone. It’s light, crisp and sweet without being overly sugary. There is a light powder with a hint of spice in the dry down.
The opening is a burst of bright citrus and I can defiantly smell the grapefruit which makes me happy. Then it gets wrapped into sweet creamy vanilla and the patchouli adds just the right touch of spice. I think this is well-blended deliciously fun perfume for all ages.

I’ve been much more impressed with the Lavanila line than I expected to be. Of the 7 Lavanila fragrances I have tested so far, I enjoyed 4 of them enough to place them on my want list. And Vanilla Grapefruit is easily one of those wants.
Grapefruit is one of those notes in a perfume that I can usually take or leave – it’s rarely a make it or break it note. So I didn’t necessarily expect to feel strongly about Vanilla Grapefruit…but I love it! The combination of grapefruit and juicy lime is wonderful on the rich vanilla base. There is something just a hint masculine that balances out the sweetness, yet I don’t hesitate to describe this overall as warm, feminine, and even sensuous. This is a delicious yet sophisticated offering…I couldn’t think of a more appropriate category for this than citrus gourmand. And despite the gourmand quality, it is still a grown-up scent.
This fragrance is inviting, tropical, and zesty – I would almost say I smell a bit of coconut in the creamy base. I would definitely choose Vanilla Grapefruit over Lavanila’s more recent offering, Vanilla Summer. Although the latter contains more of the typical tropical notes, Vanilla Grapefruit does a better job of capturing that warm, relaxing, tropical vacation feel. Delicious!

This is just a really fresh, bright vanilla scent. It reminds me of one of the original Body Shop Vanilla perfumes. When I smell this, I think “that’s what vanilla perfume is supposed to smell like!”
I’m not usually someone who wears strong vanilla scents but I would probably make an exception for this one because it’s beautiful.

Yummy fresh grapefruit and then candy-like vanilla. Very generic but very yummy!

The opening is a bit sharp, like citrus cleaning products. But the drydown is amazing; it reminds me of an aromatic citrus for men, if that makes any sense. The duration is mostly feminine, but I could see a guy pull this off. There is something comforting about this fragrance that keeps me going back to it.

I bought this before I joined Fragrantica a few years ago at Anthropoligie. I know that I tested all four of the Lavanila frags – and fell in love with this one. However, I had no idea what I was buying at the time. So, I put the bottle in where I store my fragrances, in a shoe box in an a/c closet. Then I moved, and couldn’t find the box. So, the other day I was looking for a certain pair of shoes, and found the whole box of perfumes I thought had been lost in the move. So, I got my Lavanila Vanilla Grapefruit bottle back, and I love it just as much as ever. The grapefruit cuts the sweetness of the vanilla. It’s a perfect summer fragrance, fresh but not too sweet.

this i realy relay like . thanks to a american friend i got this blind. only tryed pure Vanilla .
but this one is eaven better . starts off so fresh and clean whit the citrus. Lime jucy and crisp. grapefruit, and heliotrop in a lovely mixture. Fresh and inviting.
actualt this reminded me straight away of Hard candy . but this is much more balanced, and warmer. this last quite a bit on my skin . drying into the most lovely vanilla . oh.. this i will enjoy big time .
    this i adore:)

I clearly feel the grapefruit note in the first half hour, then I only feel the freshness of the citruses, and that makes it very interesting. I think it’s wearable in summer, too, there is nothing cloying, overwhelming or ‘too much’ about it. The drydown is similar to other Lavanila products, one of the most beautiful, real vanilla scents I’ve felt so far.

  46. :

Mmmmm…creamy grapefruit. This will not be a zesty, candy-like fragrance. If you want that, you should look at Babydoll by YSL. This is a lot more natural, soft, and clean.
As for some comments about not being able to smell the grapefruit etc…if you smell the other fragrances first and compare, the grapefruit will be easily noticeable. So that tells you that when you are wearing this fragrance, other people who might not be into sour scents might not even realize you are wearing grapefruit. I am one of the people who does NOT like tart perfume. Lavanila makes grapefruit extremely wearable and natural.

Tested this today and had to make the difficult choice of getting this or the Pure Vanilla…
    It was a tough call!
This one is such a beautiful marriage of citrus and vanilla, so fresh and scumptious at the same time. The only thing that kept me from getting it was the idea of layering. That’s where the pure vanilla sold me. BUT I will definitely be making this my next buy!
    Update:
Went to go get a full bottle of this today, but decided against it. I tried it again and the opening reminded me too much of Hanae Mori, which I already have. So I went for the full of Pure Vanilla instead. It’s still an amazing scent. And if you like the tartness of Hanae Mori, you will LOVE this!

Once the fresh but mild grapefruit fades in the top notes, you get a true vanilla that isn’t too edible or sweet. Unlike most brands which try a sugar candy vanilla, this is more subtle and delicious. It’s lasting power is great and the whole good for your skin concept is nice.

  49. :

I love vanilla, and this is true, warm, cozy vanilla through and through. One little problem — I’m not smelling anything BUT vanilla. Where’s the grapefruit? Maybe it’s just like this on my skin, but it’s literally one-note.

  50. :

    4 out of 5

This fragrance is pretty amazing. It actually smells like you’re fresh from the shower (which is weird, because it’s not a “soapy” scent or anything… and not “clean” in the standard sense of the word… I generally hate “clean” scents). It is just extremely clean and fresh and not quite as cloying as the “just vanilla” Lavanila scent can be. I love it!

  51. :

    4 out of 5

Against my expectations, Lavanila VANILLA GRAPEFRUIT is a deliciously wonderful aromatic vanilla fragrance! I really thought that of the four in my mini rollerball set I would dislike this one–it sounds so discordant! Instead, so far (the other two I’ve tested are PURE VANILLA and LAVENDER VANILLA) this is my favorite.
How can grapefruit and vanilla combine so harmonically? Well, they are no doubt aided significantly by the sandalwood, heliotrope, and a touch of patchouli, which manage to smooth out the citrus quality of not only the grapefruit but also the lime. Somehow the scent as a whole is not at all astringent, just very yummy. Major wrist sniffer! Recommended!

UPDATE: (04/03/2010) I kept trying this and it’s really starting to grow on me. I layered the rollerball version with Fantasy spray (one of the few I ever have received compliments on) and that for me was a winning combination. The lavanila with it’s vanilla and grapefruit notes rounds out the Fantasy and tones down the sweetness of it just a tad. I found it a beautiful layering combo and had 3 men sniff me the night I was out and told me I smelled wonderful:)
I was disappointed. Maybe it’s just my chemistry, but I didn’t get ANY citrus zing or crispness. It is a very warm spicy scent on me and I can’t see wearing this on a hot day, as it would seem too heavy and cloying. When it dries down, it does soften some, but at the same time fades out to where I can’t barely even smell it. Which I thought was odd for an oil based roller-ball. Based on the reviews I was hoping for something that was unique, didn’t need to be refreshed every couple hours and had the perfect blend of citrus without smelling like a fruit salad and vanilla without smelling like a spicy oriental…guess I have to keep on searching:)

Mmmmm got my roll on today and this smells soooo divine! Perfect combination of juicy grapefruit and creamy vanilla. Love it!!

This is a deceptively simple scent that’s quite pleasant. The lime cuts the sweetness of the grapefruit and vanilla and the bergamot is not overwhelming as it often can be. Sillage is decent though it’s lasting power seems inconsistent. Most interesting comment when I wear it: people say I smell nice without realizing I’m wearing perfume.

This is divine! The lime and grapefruit add a bright, juicy zing to the madagascar vanilla that is at the core of all of LAVANILA’s beautiful perfumes. The sillage is impressive, as Vanilla Grapefruit lasts nearly as long on my skin as Pure Vanilla. It can be tricky finding the “right” summer fragrance. I find that fragrances labeled for summertime are too sheer, like bland, scented water. I would wear this year ’round, but I must say that this is one of my must-have frags for the summer!

A lot of people compare this one to Pink Sugar and while I can see the similarities, Pink Sugar (which I own and like, but don’t LOVE) stands out on the skin and smells very confectionary, while Vanilla Grapefruit is very sensual. Though it is sweet, on my skin, it smells more like an Orange Julius where Pink Sugar smells more like a frosted donut or other baked treat. I also feel that VG is something any woman of any age could wear, while I always end up feeling childish when I wear Pink Sugar.
If you like sweet, gourmand scents, this is worth a try. It’s one of my absolute favorites and I considered it my HG for a long time. It’s very natural-smelling. It begins with a blast of lime and grapefruit that immediately lift your mood. Those notes stick around for several minutes or so before calming down to create a very creamy, smoky and sweet aura, as they blend with the cedar, sandalwood and vanilla, keeping the whole arrangement just fresh enough with reminders of their tart presence.
I am a vanilla girl at heart and always end up falling for vanilla-based scents, but I think this is one that even people who don’t always love vanilla can appreciate.

LaVinila a company that I am definitely going to explore more.I ADORE vanilla scents & this one that I have only one vial sample of this & it has stolen my heart(for the day at least).
It is a very strong scent but strong in the sense that it lasts very long & it follows me wherever I go.It is not synthetic at all & it blends really well with the grapefruit & lime.I also smell the Heliotrope which to me adds a nice soft wisp of floral into the blend.
This combination is such a great comfort scent.
