I had great hopes for this one and traveled to Aedes in NYC to try it as I was dying for a historic chypre untrammeled by the EU’s rules against oakmoss.
The EU had no issues with this one, I’m sure. It has moss but it does not have the staying power or brilliance of pre-reformulation Mitsouko, for example. The florals are muted and the patchouli fades fast.
If I could keep the first burst of Histoire and have it last for four hours I’d be thrilled, but it’s rather prosaic and too pricey for what you get.
I used up the sample and did not buy.
