Description

Un Jardin après la Mousson: created in 2008, it explores the facets of an
unexpected India, when the monsoon restores to the earth what the sun has
taken, chasing away the burning breath of drought. Ginger, cardamom,
coriander, pepper and vetiver speak of the rebirth of nature captured in Kerala,
a universe engorged with water. The nose behind this fragrance is Jean-Claude Ellena.

This one was on my want list. Eventually I had to give up the purchase because each time I tested it on my skin there was something wrong.
The opening blast of cardamom is amazing, I really love it alongside the peppery feeling. The problem comes up later, when it becomes too aquatic and kinda ‘rotten’. Stagnant water, that’s what it is – I know this is supposed to be a garden after the monsoon, but on me it’s too literally the smell of wet greenness and soaked spices.
Ginger is absolutely prominent. I think that this Jardin doesn’t feature ginger root but its stems because the smell is less zesty and more herbaceous. I really thought I couldn’t ask for more, yet almost paradoxically this is not enough.
So sad it doesn’t work with my chemistry because I like so much the idea that lies underneath the fragrance. I love every single spice and ginger and everything…but no way. My skin amplifies the worst of it. Sigh 🙁

I had great expectations. The name sounded really promising. But all I get is a soso aquatic scent. Almost Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche. Not sweet thankfully. But yeah, unfullfilled expectations of earth and humidity, abstraction.
The better Après la Mousson is Demeter Dirt imho.

Reading through these reviews has been so interesting–scent really is subjective, eh?
Anyway, I love this. On me, I get sweet ginger, freshly grated, and coarse black pepper. There is a tiny hint of melon, but nothing obnoxious. With a bit more time, the sheerest floral, like a soaked water lily, peeks through. This smells expensive and smart.

Pardon….but where is the cantaloup? Where’s the melon? I smell spices, flowers, water but not at all these fruits.
Do you really know these fruits’ essence people? I live in Italy, I’m italian and these fruits are very common here.
By the way, I like Un jardin apres la mousson, I think it will be my go-to fragrance in autumn. Summer is too hot for it.

This reminds me just a little of merveilles bleue. It is very spicy, earthy and marine.
I see that many comments point out how much this smells like cantaloupe melon. It’s funny how perfume acts differently on different people, I didn’t get any melon-notes at all.
I think they’re spot on with the name. This smells like a rain storm. Not the green-flowery notes you get sometimes with spring rain, but rather the earthy and stone-like scent you can get when it’s raining at a very dry place. It’s almost the kind of smell that makes you suspect that thunder is on the way.
As for the notes, I think the votes above are rather representative of what I noticed on my self. The ginger, pepper, cardamom, coriander and aquatic notes are dominant, while the others are barely noticeable. The aquatic notes in this case are very marine, and salt-water like. I ended up liking this a lot more than I would have expected given the notes.
This is a discrete perfume, it will not fill a room, or leave a long trail after you if you don’t overspray it. Personally I think that’s a good thing. It ends up being suitable for office despite it’s uniqueness. As for staying power, I think it matches the expectations I would have from a brand like this. It stays there for most of the day.
So, do I like it? Honestly I’m still undecided. I love the smelling this, but I’m not sure whether I want to smell like this. If you get what I mean. A bit like how I love the tantalising smell of barbecue, but I don’t want go around smelling like one.
In summary I think this is a genuinely well crafted perfume. It smells like a rainstorm after a dry period, and ends up being rather unique. For that reason it’s not for everyone, but rather a elegant niche perfume.

If you want to feel the smell of rain on your skin, I recommend for you Un Jardin Apres la Mousson Hermes. The theme of water, rain, wet leaves and grass are main notes in this composition. The feeling of rain creates the freshness of ginger and pepper, and then the warmth of soft and delicate spices plays with your mind. This “rainy” composition is simply amazing, airy and watercolor, like a real warm autumn rain. This fragrance creates a mood of gentle melancholy and nostalgia for the hot summer. It is spicy-warm and miraculously blends with the natural scent of the skin. This fragrance likes a sexy underwear, which no one sees, but it is only your secrett.

Most personal and intimate fragrance I have ever smelled. Beautiful and nostalgic blend of aquatic and citrusy notes on my skin. I would say it smells like rain in the italian countryside, during spring. Not a sunny smell, actually I would classify it as rather sad. There’s nothing heavy or violent about it, but it’s a very introspective and wishful fragrance. Almost like a memory. It stays rather linear on my skin, it’s not invasive in any way, but it’s there and people will almost wonder what it is, without even being sure IF there’s something there. I would say it would make a great signature scent for a woman who could pull it off. But an ordinary “pretty, sexy, feminine” girl wouldn’t. I’m thinking it would fit a very deep, mature and at the same time serene person. Ageless perfume as well. Could be worn by a 20 year old or a 70, as long as the spirit is there.

Well I have never wore a perfume with this particular scent, it is very freshy and green… like it at all, but I need to say that I feel better wearing it in personal moments instead of job time!
Longevity and sillage on me is very good, around 10hrs and I still feel the aroma!
Dont risk in a blind buy, please taste it before.

I remember going to several shops at the airport in Paris and the perfume that grabbed me was this one. My first perfume of Hermes. So different, fresh and unique. There is something in this perfume that makes me go back and forth over the years and always have a new bottle waiting to be opened. Ginger gives him incredible diversity. When I spray with it always ask me what this perfume is. Hermes make perfumes that are not for every taste, but definitely the bravest ladies can enjoy their creations

The most predomonant note is a melon opening thats watery and fresh. Cantaloupe and honeydew with flowers from spice trees – not the actual spices. I really like spicey scents but this is strangly not very spicy. More fresh watery and fruity with subtle spice.
I do detect pink pepper beery leaves and green coriander, but not much cardomom or ginger unfortunetly. Opens very sweet but that sweetness drops off quickly. Would love this if it had better longevity.
I love most of the Jardin range but unfortunely this one fades quick on me, but projects well especialy in the sumer heat.

This is a beautiful creation but very hard to pull off imo. As in, the scent ends up wearing you, rather than you wearing it. It really paints an exotic decor and transports you to another place, another time. A very emotional perfume…

    Garden after monsoon?
This fragrance has strong sweet melon and warm coriander at the opening but I can’t see it in the pyramid note, feeling smooth spices like black pepper and sweet cardamom on middle. Base note are warmer with vetiver on background. I can’t say it exactly feeling like garden after the rain, but it fruity freshness fragrance for sure. I like blending of cool melon and warm spices. Good fragrance, but moderately silage and moderately longevity. Good smells with very naturally without synthetic.

If people find CK reveal and CH men+privé and CH good girl sweet, I wonder what would they say to this?
This is sweeeeeeeet. Smell? Kiwi with some slight citrusy wibe. Like the green, kiwi flavoured gum-bears melted in cloth detergent. It’s F. weird, yet pleasant. Edit: after 2 hours it gets a nice anise-like note.

I already had Un Jardin en Mediterrannee and Un jardin sur le Nil, both of which I love. So I had high hopes for this one after reading all those positive reviews. But boy was I disappointed !
The first time, I only tried it on paper and it smelled fantastic, very aquatic and cucumberish, very fresh, I loved it. I didn’t get any spice on paper though. Two days later, I proceeded to try it on my skin (wrist) and yuck was it gross !!! I was still getting the fresh aquatic cucumbery note in the background, but I was also getting a very strong pungent smell of heavy spices and rotten milk. Probably it’s the cardamom/dill/coriander accord that doesn’t agree with my skin. The smell was just foul and putrid.
Puzzling though as I don’t really smell the coriander -which is an herb I love in food- nor do I smell the dill that much. But I guess those two provide the earthy dirty smell. The cardamom on the other hand provides the heavy spicy scent. Some people spoke of Chai Masala for this frag, well I’d say instead Chai Masala gone bad ! That horrible smell lingers for quite some times before fading away and it eventually leaves you with the original aquatic cucumber scent that smells quite nice. But it’s far from enough for me to buy this frag. It just doesn’t agree with me. My first disappointment from Un jardin…

I do not see it among Jardins any more ;o( and this one is the best of them all. Citrusy and slightly marine, very refreshing, never boring, inoffensive, but present.

This was the first perfume in my life that created a tactile space around me. My whole family smelled the space and saw the picture. A stone edged pond full of clearwater and pink lotus in full and half bloom, The heavy, grey, monsoon cloud overshadows the garden and creates a half shadowed pond and pours its cool droplets on mother earth.
There is the faint smell of dust from the earth that lingers in the air.The heart of a pink lotus, the golden yellow heart of the flower, fragrant, mysterious but uplifting. Cool monsoon rain, sunrays beaming through the branches and trees. A dark thicket beyond the pond, A lonely but content old house, where I sit and look out at the rains.
This is an unmistakable fragrance, the only one of it’s kind.Positive and content, uplifting and spiritual.
    Ideal time: Summer / Daytime
    Clothes: Casual, Light
    Content: Will not bother anyone.

I just got a travel sized version of this perfume yesterday. Smelled the scent from the bottle and it was incredible. Didn’t even spray it on myself… risky but it was only a small size. Sprayed it after purchasing and it smelled incredible. Like a spring/summery warm aquatic scent that lasted the rest of the day.
Today after a shower I sprayed the perfume again. It’s interesting I keep getting whiffs of the perfume (projection is good but not overpowering) and I feel as though I’m getting two different scents. The most prevalent is almost a powdery rain scent and then occasionally I will get that yummy sweet and complex scent I originally smelled yesterday. I’m wondering if it’s the combination of my Dove body wash that is contributing to the more powdery scent.
To be honest I’m hoping it won’t always smell this way on my body.. I’ll try it on again another day with not immediately after a shower to see if there’s a difference.

This smells very herbaceous and savory to me. I smell salt and and pepper and something sort of herbal…I thought basil or dill, but looking at the notes, I think it’s the coriander. It reminds me of men’s aquatic colognes like Green Irish Tweed.

I love to wear this perfume during the warm, summer days, because it is just so very fresh. It is up there with my to-go light and fresh scents like Eau d`Hadrien by Annick Goutal, Calyx by Clinique, Un jardin sur le toit and.. maybe not so light, but also super fresh, Womanity by Thierry Mugler. This one starts with a lovely blast of hologram-like cardammom and ginger, to quickly develop and stay in a watery, peppery watermelon. It is a lovely perfume.

Lovely everyday scent, summerish. Like being on a vacation near beach. I´m happy to own a bodylotion from this line and I like it a lot. It has a calming effect to my mind, a true stress-reliever. Considering of buying the edT.

I get LOTS of cardamom. Personally I don’t like smelling like chai masala – I prefer to have cardamom in my tea or dessert not on my skin. I do smell India after the monsoon, lots of water and spices popping up. It’s nice, just not for me.

I think this is a clever perfume, unusual and delicate. The melon smell is appealing to me, but I’m not sure I enjoyed it on my skin. It wasn’t strong enough for me when I smelt it on my wrist. The mystery is there though, and I love the images it conjures up when you think of the title. It succeeds in what it sets out to be.

To me it is a very light flower-y spice-y scent, delicious but fleeting, the aroma of torn flowers on a bed of spices. Love Ellena’s perfumes, so ethereal, but they don’t last long on me.

My fav. My signature, especially as I’m Indian. On me this is not melon or sickly sweet at all. It’s a hit of cardamom mainly with a beautiful blend of other sweet spices. I feel like a tall glass of masala chai! It has a strong sillage, and I feel like I’m floating in an intoxicating aromatic cloud all day long. While there is a slight corianderey quality to the perfume it’s not repulsive at all. And unlike what some people mentioned it does not smell rotten whatsoever. I can see how it’s polarising though, but for me it evokes all the childhood memories of a monsoon cloudburst: the smell of wet earth (no smell like that anywhere in the world), a warm blanket and a hot cup of spiced chai!

I am not really a fan of fruity fragrances but this smells great and is not very sweet/sickly. I instantly smell melon/cantaloupe but dry downs more fresh rather than sweet. Amazing summer scent!

Full disclosure: I am a female, and I generally dislike melony-aquatic scents. Onto the review: I visited my Hermes store today with the intention of purchasing Un Jardin sur le Nil. It’s Summer time here in Pennsylvania, so of course the weather is hot and humid. I tested this fragrance on a whim and left the store for a cup of iced coffee to let it develop on my skin. Ten minutes later, I went back and bought it instead of sur le Nil. I remember testing this and hating it when it first came out. I thought it was the weirdest fragrance I had ever tried!.Quite frankly, I was repulsed by it. I thought it smelled like musty, aquatic and weird. Fast forward to today, and I ended up buying it. Go figure! It starts with vegetable sap, melon and black pepper, but it dries down smelling like clear water and a light, freesia-like floral. Very elegant and delicate. Perfect for a hot day like today. It felt so clean and calming I just had to have it. For the gentlemen who dislike sweet and fruity scents, fear not – this is dry, clean and discrete, and there is a good chance you will like it, too! And like another reviewer mentioned, I think there are more notes to this fragrance than what they are listing on this website.

  32. :

All I get from this one is wet dirt scent. Very earthy with the odor of wet vegetables, mostly cucumber. I would suggest this one for male users who are very outdoorsy and have a decent beard. I could enjoy smelling them wearing this but on me it was plain weird.

  33. :

Fresh and peppery, but with sweet floral-fruity undertones, this is way more complex than the five notes listed indicates. Sweet, fresh, watery and slightly soapy with a fleshy ripe cantaloupe after taste. Like all Hermes, it’s all natural with not a false or synthetic note in it. While its unisex in nature, I’m gonna say this veers more feminine, its very delicate, soft and flowery. But as man, I love the way this smells and would reach for it on occasion during the heat of the summer months. Im a bit biased as I’m a sucker for all Hermes scents. Thumbs up, its a good one.

Hendricks Gin and Apres La Mousson seem unlikely bedfellows but the mind of this reviewer pays homage to Passage to India, A Jewel in the Crown and a nip of W. Somerset Maugham into the bargain. There is a metholated burst at the opening and the gin kicks in. How odd that a Frenchman encapsulated the Raj in this way.
Recalling India’s history I observe the gamine eyes of the Fishing Fleet narrowing at the spiced nuances of ALM. I’m sure they wore Jicky, thick with quintessential lavender, or whatever preceded it. Come hither, said the spider to the fly, be seduced by the stunning beauty of Indian women who didn’t perfume themselves with the contents of a Turkish brothel. This, surely, is what evaporated from their skin; Melon, cinnamon, and tulasi, the holy basil. Seduction of a different kind.
He’s a clever man, that JCE. Only for the broadminded, this piece of history. As our summers are sub-tropical in the North I enjoy APLM at that time. This is my choice of fragrance if we eat at Thai or Indian restaurants. Note: The reference to the Fishing Fleet is the sarcastic name given to English women of good family sent to India to find a husband from the (single) serving officers of the Raj.

It’s opens with strong new fresh pulled from the ground ginger still have the dirt on it and noticeable spicy note from the pepper. A few minutes later it settles to melon. No sillage, project almost moderate. At the first sniff on paper i think it was my number 2 hermes jardin set but now i might have to think about it again.

After sniffing the entire Jardin series at an Hermes boutique, this is the one I chose to take home.
I plan on using this mostly during spring/summer, but it’s also sublime during Mediterranean winters where it drizzles but never snows. This unisex perfume may be meant evoke Kerala after the monsoon season, but it’s still raining softly in this Indian garden.
Un Jardin Apres Las Mousson starts off smelling like a a freshly cut and peppered cantaloupe that was left at the base of pond reeds during a light drizzle. It then blossoms into a wet cucumber, coriander, and ginger infusion with cantaloupe and rain still in the background. It’s fresh with a watercolor brushstroke of murkiness, quietly aquatic without the saltiness of marine calone. It’s airy, but the skies are saturated and grey.
In the most abstract sense this is how I imagine beautiful dreams smell like, so I wear it to bed after showering, and spritz my pillows with it. The bottle may not last long that way, but at least I’m enjoying it!

One of my favorites in spring! It truly reminds me of freshly fallen rain combined with the spiciness of cardamon and vetiver. The ‘après la Mousson’ part is true, recognizable by the travellers amongst us ;). If you love some fresh spiciness, this one is a great one for during the day and especially when you spend the day outside in the park or light hiking.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

I blind bought this because I am always looking for fresh scents that are green as opposed to obvious and sweet; because I decided that any scent I wore regularly had to perfectly represent my personality; and because I kept obsessively Google searching “perfumes that will make me smell like a freshly mowed lawn” “perfumes that will make me smell like a forest after it rains.” On my skin the peppery note and the melon/cucumber notes come off most strongly–the scent is so interesting, it keeps my nose to my wrist until it fades. Which is admittedly too soon. the faint undertone of melony sweetness is just the right amount of femininity for me.
Sometimes it feels to me like complexity and strength of the scent are trade offs. You get complicated, ephemeral scents or you get long lasting, strong ones. This perfume has all kinds of complex notes that emerge over its lifespan on your skin, but it is something people will smell only with their nose practically to your neck. (Luckily, ever since I started wearing this perfume, my partner does this with regularity.) I might not go for this perfume if I was looking to grab attention in a room full of people–I think it’s better suited for a quiet moment with someone who knows you well already.

Glorious! I fell in love head over heels today at the perfume counter. The cardamom note is so good, I just can’t stop sniffing my wrist. It reminds me of a cold winters day, maybe even Christmas, since the spices (not coriander, though..) are commonly used at Christmas in Finland.

There are notes in this lovely, cool perfume that are not listed above, including some kind of melony fruit (melon? mango?) and vetiver. The melon-like smell is not the inside of the fruit, though; it is more like the fragrant, intact outer rind of a fruit, the kind you would smell in the market stall to see if the fruit is ripe. I love this perfume. I like cardamom and I love the way you can smell that note right away when you spray Jardin Apres La Mousson, without it being overpowering. The ginger is there, but with a light touch. I’m not getting the cucumber others have mentioned but cucumbers, watermelons, melons and cantaloupes are all members of the Cucurbitae plant genus, so they are related; and the same scent might smell like one or the other of them to different people.
So on first spray, I get cardamom and melon rind. Then a touch of ginger and ginger flower, with a little pepper. As time goes on, I smell the coriander emerging but the melon rind and ginger flower linger, to be joined at last by vetiver.
I did blind buy this perfume because I have loved Un Jardin Sur le Nil, but this is a unique and distinctive fragrance. I love it but not everyone will, so maybe test first.

As soon as I smelled it, I had to have it, no ifs or buts. I tried on the tester and I was immediately transported to Kerala. My skin seems to amp up the ginger and melon and is followed closely behind by the beautiful aquatic notes and some cardamon. I’ve never smelled anything quite like it. Two of the ladies and another shopper were immediately drawn to my exclamations and also fell in love with it on the spot, one of them tried it and it was VERY different on her skin, still nice, but vastly different to how it smelled on me. The other shopper purchased it too, without trying it as she was already covered in perfume. It’s my new signature scent, I can’t imagine being without it now.

  42. :

It’s a great quality scent, perfect for hot weather, with just the ideal sillage and all day long longevity. It’s an exotic garden, wet with rain, with bushy vegetation of dark green leaves, and as I revisited it this year, gave me a great day in such an exotic place. It’s not too masculine on my skin, which is great, and I really loved it on me.

In our first encouter, all i got was spice spice spice and very musculine edge.
i let the bottle sits for half a month before a revist today. i discover that the spice is not that spicy anymore and it becomes milky and much less musculine.
edit: my bf smelled it on me in a very hot summer day. He simply exclaimed India. He said Mousson reminded him a lot of India and Indian tea.

I was very attracted by the listed notes of this fragrance. I’m a big fan of Hermes and Ellena. What could go wrong? I ordered a sample…
Initially I found Mousson rather nice. Quite light and good for summer but as time went on I became increasingly flummoxed as to where the listed notes were because mostly I was just getting melon. Ultimately it was too much melon, which with daily use became rather too sweet for my tastes, reminding me of the calone-heavy aquatics that I’ve been consciously avoiding of late! Not great lasting power either. Lovely box though!
Still nice to come back to on a hot day, when the mood takes you but it’s not one I’m going to buy a full bottle of.

    Not a review but:
Wow, when I smelled this it always reminded me of garden after rain. Greenness and water, all these wet plants and vegetables, damp black-earth.
I am not french speaking but only now (just from curiosity)I translated the name of this fragrance and I was wonder-struck! It means ” garden after monsoon”. I had no idea…
    Perfectly named fragrance.

Un Jardin Apres la Mousson is truly a strange creation to my nose. Like all JCE scents this is a sheer, luminous almost diaphanous creation. Somehow this manages to be both aquatic and spicy without being heavy or overbearing. In my mind its sort of the idealized fantastical scent of what it would smell like if you added fresh ginger to your sauna’s steam. Its all at once clarifying, medicinal and invigorating but not really how I personally want to smell all the time. Interesting all the same.

I bought this on EBAY and just got it in the mail. My thoughts….delightfully understated……the crisp ginger opening mixed with lotus and cardarmon…..quickly moving into a fruity melon like scent…..this is beautifully anchored with a surging vetiver base…….do I like you Un Jardin Apres la Mousson……well of course…..nothing quite smells like a Jean-Claude Ellena perfume.

Expectation Played a Nasty Trick on Me
What “Un Jardin Apres la Mousson” promise to deliver: The scent of an Indian, more specifically a Keralean Garden, after rain. Kerala, lying in the South-West corner of India, is famous for it’s Back-Waters and lush green spice gardens. I expected to get the scent of these spice enriched gardens after rain, which are almost pungent green and intoxicating in it’s true sense.
What I actually get: “I am inside a small tea-stall, like those you get in almost every part of India. Is it raining outside? Yes, I can smell the water. Is it in some platations? No, not specifically, it is more in a Colonial City of India, which is near some large waterbodies, but not sea. It can be Calcutta or Cochin. For Calcutta it is the River Hoogly and for Cochin it is the backwaters. I have ordered a “Masala Chai”, since suddenly after rain it is a little relief, from the scorching sun. The “Chaiwala” or the Tea-Maker is boiling the cardamoms with milk. May be he has chopped very little pieces of ginger to add into tea also. The vapour of the cardamom infused milk, with the chopped gingers are coming to me. I am waiting for something more dramatic to happen. Nothing Happens. The perfume story ends”
Not so Good Point: I dare not to use the word “Bad” against Jean Claude Ellena’s creation. I definitely get very distinct notes of watermelon and/or cucumber present here. The representation of rain water with these notes did not worked for me.
Good Point: The interpretation of Indian rain with “Masala Chai” is a Bang on. We, who live in India, knows soo well, how the craze of this spicy drink increases during rain. I really would love to know how Jean Ellena got this view.
Overall, this perfume somewhat creates a cultural closeness with India and her rains. But I would love to get soo much more. I wanted to feel the rain..to get drenched…or atleast breathe in the wet air, which doesnot happen.
However, am not very much enjoying wearing this perfume and it should easily have slipped to my “dislike” zone. The only reason I am keeping it in my “like” zone is of the thought of the interpretation of Indian rain.
    Sillage: Soft to Moderate
Longevity on my skin: 3 Hours approx
Longevity on cloth: Approximately 5 Hours
Occasion: It’s a very casual perfume. You may use it for office purpose also. Inoffensive and balanced for both genders. Though Indian Rains create magic for romance, I personally will not use this perfume in romantic ventures.
P.S: I am left with “Le Jardin de Monsieur Li” only. Still now “Toit” is the best among the Hermes Jardin Collection.
I love every package of the “Jardin Series” with their beautiful Motifs..and the motifs on “Un Jardin Apres la Mousson” is the best, with all those jungle-book style miniatures.

I think this is going to be my rainy season frag. Be warned though, this is not for the likes of everyone. If you want to go safe, go with sur le Nil or Mediterranee but Mousson is definitely more unique. To me sur le Nil is just so.. meh, forgetful and generic. Besides I think this one lasts the longest out of all the jardins.

One of my first “aqua” or “summer” fragrances. I have sampled many, but found this one to be a bit different and more fascinating than the more typical aqua fragrances. This is such an intriguing smell. For me it starts with a lot of melon, then a spicy ginger-coriander mix as it dries, followed by a very unique aquatic-cucumber-rose-vetiver-lime-pepper combination after dry down. It’s a bit on the sweet side, but I think a great choice on hot summer days (or nights). It could be worn by either sex, but I find it to have a definite masculinity, especially with the vetiver and pepper. After dry down as the melon note lessons, the balance and complexity of the composition is extraordinary. It has very good longevity and I smell it periodically throughout the day….a fresh, invigorating scent, leading with melon, but also presenting the other notes in harmony. It is potent, so a little (1-2 sprays) goes a long way. Sillage I am still assessing, but seems to be above averags. Honestly I was not sure whether I loved or hated this when I first smelled it…it was sweet and sharp on the test strip. But after trying some on, the smell was not too sharp and took on a bit more of a musky character with the “body” of the fragrance more prominent…unlike the rest of the Jardin line, it has a heaviness or weight to it which is hard to describe, but for me lends to it being a more masculine expression.
I would not blind buy this one, and I would suggest trying some on to smell it through dry down and with your body chemistry before judging.
Edit: The longevity, projection and sillage are excellent. I get over 10 hours and about 6 feet of projection. Too much can be overwhelming, so less is more. Still very much enjoying this scent, though it is a bit sweet for my taste (a bit more musk would reallly make it perfect to me). I did have occasion to spray on a lady and can say this definately works as a unisex fragrance…sexy and fresh, very good as a summer scent.

On my skin this smells like dry algae and plastic grass. Like a mix between wood and carrots. I don’t dislike it but I don’t care much for it either. It’s rather strong but with not much sillage

I love all four perfumes from Un Jardin, and this Apres La Mousson is one of my favourite.
After my holiday in India, I sort of get it how Jean-Claude Ellena got the inspiration and call it Apres La Mousson (meaning Garden After Monsoon). It felt so fresh when the first rain drop from the sky and get a rid of the dusty & dryness of the air mix together with the smell of spices.
It opens up on a vivid note of cardamom, in contrast to cinnamon and a crisp fruity note reminiscent of sliced watermelon contrasts with the cardamom.
It perfect for a hot summer day

Of all the Jardins, this is my least favourite. I guess – with the ginger, cardamom and pepper – I was hoping for a light spicy scent, something along the lines of the original Bvlgari Omnia.
I grow (and preserve) my own vegetables, and my first thought after applying this fragrance was ‘gherkin relish’. In fact, it’s halfway between gherkin relish and pickled cucumbers, with a dash of something melon-like thrown into the mix.
I think that melon-like, aquatic freshness is supposed to evoke the feeling of monsoon rain, so Ellena has hit the nail on the head there.
In summary: perhaps it’s just my skin chemistry, but this one is not for me.
