My first fragarance ever. I was 13 yo. I owned the original plastic bottle.
    Poor sport-fresh scent.
The 90’s in their worst representation. Even as a teen I found it very chemical and disliked it. Glad it’s over, but it will forever remain my first cologne ever.
Spring/Summer day, age 10 to 20 yo max.

Oh my God, my first parfum of ever..I was just eighteen! Such an amazing fragrance and such a pity is no more produced. One of the best herbal green scent I have ever smelled! it is a masterpiece of ninties perfumery school. If you want to smell unique and you’re enough lucky to find it on the web just take it! personally it brings me back to my teenage time and I am not able to wear it anymore, but still…..
    Unforgettable. Everlasting love…

trussardi action is one of the most genuine fragrances i ever smelled. if u try bleu de chanel or dior sauvage u can feel a strong note of “infinite marketing meetings” inside the juice. action seems to be a fragrance made for fun, without the greed of money. the smell in itself is very unique, a classic aromatic fougere with a mediterranean vibe. it’s fresh and dense, no citrus inside. it’s very masculine, nothing unisex here for sure. the description of the great chris from SCENTLAND, the grandma’s kithchen, can fit on the mood of trussardi action. for me, it reminds me the family reunion on sunday, a ritual very common in italy. but it also reminds me a tipical italian grocery store. the smell is a bit dated, the sport flanker is more modern, but in my opinion action is a unique, daring, happy composition. good performance, the projection is quite strong in the first hour, the spring is the best season for this scent. fanstastico, originale e genuino.

I’m considering Action Uomo as a significant early 90’s release, a technical mint-herbal featuring an accord that was pretty novel at the time, that mix of mint, aldehydes and synthetic components that marked the rise of something new in fragrance design back then. I came across it first while being on family holidays in Italy – where the fragrance was launched a little before it became available in Germany. The bottle with its solid plastic case and the pungent colour matched the communicated idea behind the fragrance well – which must have been a big step for Trussardi and the legacy that their classic, Trussardi Uomo, inhabited in Italian male perfumes for a decade. I also see this as one of the forerunners of what became that novel vague of Italian perfumes around 1990 – even if very different, releases such as Romeo Gigli Uomo or Versace’s Versus Uomo share a similarity in the thirst for modernisation of very much Italian creations – herbal, architectural, citric with sublime new twists, and still all showing respect to quite complex construction. To date, Action Uomo remains a highly recommended experiment of early synthetic appreciation!

Incredible heavy green herbal fragrance italian herbs done to perfection with a very fresh spicey drydown think italian grandmothers chopping green herbs in back of a barbershop in northern italy on a cloudy day …herbal masterpiece…

Trussardi’s Action Uomo is a very boisterous fragrance that pulls no punches. One of the most prominent notes that I get through the fragrance is mint or something like peppermint. The fragrance is truly ‘green’ through and through. Oak moss, musk and herbal notes represent the heart of this fragrance for me. Initially AU opens with mint and some light floral notes up front. The heart of the fragrance is this dry but green mix of herbs.
The opening is pretty harsh. I really have a hard time picking out the individual notes because the opening is very powerful. It’s basically strong green notes and a peppermint/mint smell. The middle notes die down in terms of intensity, leaving the heart to be an herby mix of coriander and rosemary with a light oak moss base and some amber. Again, the ‘green’ part of the scent is the one commonality throughout the wearing.
I learned to enjoy this fairly well as it’s somewhat similar in composition to a less powerful cousin Trussardi came out with at some point. This probably isn’t one to pour on if you’re in a crowded office but it has its place. Sillage is pretty strong and the longevity is eight hours or more on me.

A traveller from the old times just hit my desk today. Trussardi Action Uomo, a full 100ml unused tester bottle! Love it! Transports me back to the early-mid 90s immediately. Wonderfully fresh spicy, manly, green and long lasting. I can see why it wasnt really popular, its lacked somehow an appeal for wider audiences especially in the emerging aquatic market of the 90s. I love it anyway and happy to have my bottle finally.

My guess is that this was an attempt to modernize the “old fashioned” masculine/herbal fragrance (with lots of basil). It does succeed to some degree, but I doubt many will realize it, as it still has a strong herbal quality. It’s also got a kind of watery aspect to it, though it doesn’t smell like a chemical mess (possibly the juniper berry). Despite applying quite a bit, I didn’t detect much of the base notes, other than musk. For me, this is too centered on the herbs, and I prefer fragrances with at least some counterpoint to them, which this does not have. Examples of what I prefer (with a strong herbal element but with other notes that contrast well with it) are Molto Smalto and Green Jeans. Projection (“sillage”) seems moderate, but I think this is the kind of fragrance others will detect well. Longevity is very good.
UPDATE: Second wearing. It’s coming across as quite similar to Horizon. No, there isn’t a marine note and it’s not as dense, floral, or powdery in the drydown (and there’s no patchouli note), but the overall impression is Horizon’s cousin who prefers to tinker around the herb garden rather than going sailing. The lavender note really sinks Action Uomo for me, though it’s certainly not a “bad” fragrance. The problem is that the lavender adds a little “soapiness” and steals my attention away from the great herbs and juniper. I wish something other than lavender was used here, perhaps iris/orris or saffron, with a bit of amber to soften it. Then it would be like an excellent niche scent rather than a designer one. As it stands, it’s sort of like a strange designer fragrance that’s not quite unique enough to be worth pursuing if you already have similar ones. Green Jeans may not be as herbal, but it doesn’t remind me of other fragrances I have, for example
