Description

Designer Jeremy Scott became the creative director of Moschino in 2013. Fun fashion collections that he has done for this house were inspired by fast food, pop culture , Sponge Bob cartoons and the Barbie doll. In this style, the new fragrance from Moschino launched by Jeremy Scott is named Moschino Toy.

Moschino Toy comes in an unusual bottle that looks like a teddy bear who is wearing a T-shirt saying “THIS IS NOT A MOSCHINO TOY.” The bottle is inside the teddy bear and diffuser is revealed when you take off the bear’s head.

The scent is unisex, light citrusy-floral-woody. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, juniper berries and cardamom; with violet, aromatic tones of lavender and hawthorn petals in the heart, and cedar, sandalwood, vanilla and musk in the base. It is available as 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

The face of the campaign is a model Isabella Fontana, shot by Steven Meisel.
Toy was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Alexandra Kosinski.

    Adorable packaging!!
The juice itself have a very great longetivity, silage is nice too…
Somehow i got scent of coconut?? However… my best perfume for now… its just bit hard to find nowadays and pricey for 50ml 🙁

The bear idea is creative, but the fragrance is really generic and a bad mixture of notes.

I actually don’t dislike the juice itself…but the bear look is too cute and overshining.

As with Moschino Fresh (the windex spary-like bottle) I HAD to have this! Packaging is just too crazy and novel to pass. Absolutely unpractical too, but who cares!! 🙂 I love me some kitschy-fun packaging just as much as I love a classy bottle.
Anyhow, on to the fragrance: I was getting really mixed impressions from the reviews I read here so wasn’t ready to blind buy it just yet (it’s not on the cheaper side!) Finally I got to test it at a duty free shop and was pleasantly surprised! It is not as generic or cute-sy as I expected it to be. Very pleasant citrucy-woody smell, actually quite on the unisex-masculine side. So I bought it and got to wear it a bit more in the last days. Most prominent on my skin appear to be the bergamot, orange, lavender and woodsy notes.
All the while I had this vague feeling of something quite familiar until I figured it out! It smells very much like Calvin Klein CK One, so much similar in fact, even if you look at the ingredients, it makes sense. Only that Toy seems to me a bit more deep, warmer and multidimensional, a bit more rich and in the end woodsy. Longevity is nothing crazy, I think it will be hard to get more than 4-5 hours on the skin out of it. Overall – very happy! If you love citrus and woodsy notes- give it a try!

This is a magnificent scent. Somehow it manages to be fresh and warm at the same time. It lasts long and evolves a lot, at least on my skin. It’s definetly unisex, although a bit on the masculine side for someone like me, who is used to wearing very feminine fragrances… I would wear it, but not everyday, I guess, only for that reason. It would be very very sexy on a male. Strong, but not overpowering, with lots of subtleties

I really enjoy this. The lavender I was scared of as lavender doesn’t usually sit well on me but in this it’s actually really nice, noticable enough but not overwhelming so that’s great. The scent itself is different to how you’d imagine given the cute bottle. It’s fresh, clean, floral & slightly spicy towards the dry down. It’s also really long lasting. It’s definatly unisex & I don’t think it leans towards being more male or more female. I can see anyone of any age wearing this.
Really happy I have this fragrance, so much so I now have 2 bottles of it.

A little masculine for my taste, but very fresh and cool, it seems minty to me somehow. Inoffensive, clean daytime scent, nothing remarkable apart from the packaging. And as I found this for a song on eBay it will make a brilliant birthday present for the husband who I am quite sure will delight in having to rip a cute bear’s head off to use it!

I was excited to try this as the packaging is so different, so when I saw the tester out on display I eagerly sprayed it on my wrist. Big mistake – it honestly made me want to throw up. Every time I smelt it on myself I felt sicker. It was just so overpowering.

  9. :

Goes on with a strong chemical cleaning smell, reminding me of men’s deodorant. After a few minutes a lime-lavender combo emerges and I actually really like it at this stage. It still feels aggressively ‘fresh’.

This is interesting… It starts out resembling Eau Gentiane Blanche d’Hermes. -There is something dusty and vegetal about it, maybe the hawthorn. No, I wouldn’t say that lavender is strongly detectable.
You go on testing something else thinking that this is a Moschino you wouldn’t desire. And then you return home. And a couple of hours pass.
And BOOM. You cannot stop sniffing your wrist. This is one of the perfumes that evolve in a really interesting way. An exception to the rule of in-your-face-sticky-sweet-scents that just fade away. This one CHANGES. And LASTS.
The drydown is femminine, powdery and smooth, somehow reminding me of an old Donna Karan Signature bath line back in the 90’s.
I don’t know if I would give my precious money to get it, since I am not in love with it. Still, I will test it again -and if someone gave it as a gift to me, I would gladly wear it and explore it.
Bottomline. Though I am not a fan of the packaging, sorry, when it comes to the perfume, hmmm, there IS something about it. Let it unfold, give it time on your skin.

After checking the notes and reviews in fragrantica. i got excited and bought it blindly. i wanted to like this cute looking fragrance. but sadly, no. when i sprayed it all i could smell was rotten mandarin. tried it on a paper, cloth, my wrist and still the same rotten mandarin. maybe my bottle had a bad juice or the fragrance notes are not working for me. too bad i wanted to use it for my kids..

  12. :

I really wanted to like it, the teddy bear is so cute and notes seem really goodb but on me it is just weird and not in a good way.

My first impression of the presentation (name and ‘bottle’) of this fragrance is that it would be bizarre in some way but upon sampling it, I find it is a very pleasant unisex scent. It’s basically a very light fresh men’s cologne scent…the kind that as I walk through sampling in the men’s department I think to myself…”Ooh, I really like that…
I might steal a few sprays every now and then…” I’d most likely identify this as a ‘feminine men’s cologne’ rather than a ‘masculine woman’s perfume’. Would definitely lean towards being a young men’s scent…although the Teddy Bear presentation might
not appeal to a man buying for himself, his girlfriend would find it irresistablely cute and get it for him for his birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s Day.
Edit: I’ve had it on going on 3 hours now and I’m liking this more & more…
women, give this a try; it’s gorgeous!

I love how the bear needs beheading before spraying hahaha

  15. :

The bear is absolute adorable. The fragrance itself is nice, wearable, safe and longlasting. Who likes CK One, will also love this one.
The only downside is the price. With almost 100€ for 50ml bottle, I doubt it will be added to my collection:(

    tHISiSNOTa FUGAZI tShiRt
    Remember… anyone?
This is bizarre but when I was like 13 I carried around a tiny stuffed rabbit with that FUGAZI shirt I made for it. It was a good luck charm and it earned me no end of ridicule by my peers. Now I see this teddy? With that shirt!? FREAKY!

I am a great fan of Moschino and original CaC was my absolute favorite of all times. I still have it and to me it is the true fun and sexy scent .
I still use “Oh!” and love it too. Both perfumes are no longer in production.
So I couldn’t wait for this one to come out and finally tried it at Nordstrom.
The package is quite cute , but the juice itself it just horrible! I tried to love it but it gets worse and worse with time and dry down is chemical and boring. True miss
IT MUST be reformulated ASAP ! to keep the reputation of my favorite perfume house .

  18. :

I just noticed that Nordstrom is selling this exclusively in their U.S. stores and on their web site. Have to order it… if for nothing else, for the appreciation of the packaging and the concept.
At least Jeremy Scott managed to break through the clutter of all the fragrances out there!

I dont care about the actual juice. JUST GIMME THE BEAR

  20. :

    4 out of 5

Although I like this I would say that this would probably appeal more to men.
Edit: At first it smells more manly and then after about an hour I can see that a woman might like it.

  21. :

    Too many aftershaves resembling this.

  22. :

    5 out of 5

If you have to resort to a gimmick like this to sell it, there’s a pretty strong chance the frag is bilge water.
Having just sampled it, I can concur.

  23. :

    5 out of 5

Considering that I only bought Toy because I wanted the bottle, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the actual juice. It’s not a unique fragrance or anything, but it is highly wearable seasonless, uncluttered & clean.
Toy seems rather masculine at first application as the lavender is sharp and cold at first, but after the other floral notes begin to develop it turns out that toy has a near-perfect balance of masculine and feminine scent notes; both men and women can wear it, at any time of the year.
I don’t usually like lavender as I find the clean scent to it very overpowering, so I thought I’d dislike Toy. however, as I said, the violets, sandalwood and hawthorn soften it a bit, lending Toy a bit of depth. The juniper leads the fruity notes for a faintly boozy feel, whilst the cardamom adds a spicy kick to everything.

  24. :

A very original marketing idea, with this nice toy bear as the packaging of the fragrance, but for me it smells too masculine for being an unisex: all I can smell is a very woody, very aromatic fragrance, quite disturbing, with nothing feminine in it. On the box you can read “WORLD’S CUTEST PERFUME” but it concerns only the bottle and not the fragrance. No no no.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

A strongly woody unisex scent. More masculine than feminine in my opinion. It got my eye immediately, but it’s not a must have. The bear is unnecessarily big and the price too high. Childish and weird packaging.
It’s not a bad scent and I would like it on men, but I wouldn’t wear it or buy it myself.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

citrusy and aromatic. For woman ??? not sure. Too expensive for this price. Boring scent. Something like a cheap bathroom spray from Primark (because I think even Zara will do better). Good idea with a toy !

  27. :

    3 out of 5

Worth it for the Moschino gimmick, but the fragrance for that price. I feel as if Moschino still hasn’t established an iconic fragrance of it’s own that has held the test of time. Yes, I love love is popular and smells like light blue, but because it smells like light blue, I feel like they’ve got nothing in their corner. Next!

The packaging is definitely limited edition-not sure about the fragrance though.Having smelled this today I have to say that I loved it.Its that kind of smell that is familiar(to my nose a mix of Calvin Klein,Crave maybe and some fresh Hermes) and very sexy.Yes it’s fresh.yes it’s clean.yes it’s long lasting.never smells cheap.perfectly unisex a tad more masculine,at least on me.It reminds me of the smell of apricots, which I love.Cannot really describe it but it’s a very fun, playful and inviting smell.Unique and quiet adorable teddy bear presentation. If I didn’t have second thoughts on how much money I keep spending on fragrances-this is £80 for one size 50ml EDT-i would have already gotten it.Thumbs UP from me .

    What an adorable packaging.
I open the box and see what looks like a box for a toy bear. Its clipped in like a barbie doll too.
The bear is nice and soft and its just all over adorable.
When I spray it on my skin, I smell the juniper berries and the bergamot, not so much the mandarin.
As it dried down, I pick up the lavender, cedar and musk. Its a nice unisex fragrance over all.
It doesnt scream female or male fragrance, its just a nice over all unisex fragrance that smells quite woody with a hint of lavender.

Okay for those who actually want a review from somebody who has tried the fragrance then you’re in luck.
In a very condensed nutshell this fragrance is a fresh woody, citrus very clean and uplifting the opening is a mixture of zesty bergamot and juicy mandarin, it’s lovely, extra freshness and a hint of dryness is supplied by juniper and cedar however that’s about it. This is a perfect aromatic scent, very familiar but not cheap or boring. Toy is in fact quite classy and natural, kinda reminds me of milisime imperial or Ed Hardy Love and Luck.
Very wearable and charming but by far the most interesting thing about Moschino Toy is not the smell it’s ALL about the packaging. If this had just been a normal release in a bottle I doubt it would get the fanfare.
I know it’s rediculous and stating the obvious but this gimmick is great and worked on me I love the little bear, it’s super cute.
Moschino fragrances are good across the board and this one fits in and keeps up that reputation, the longevity is quite impressive too for what is essentially a fruity lightweight scent.
I had to get it just from a collectors point of view but in all honesty had the fragrance been awful I truly may have thought twice. You get a cool teddy and a nice fresh fragrance…Simple.

    Hi everyone!
I’m a London based Moschino fan and was in Harrods when Jeremy Scott came for the launch! I got my bear signed by him & pics to prove i was there, I bought 2 bear fragrances and I’m selling one, which is Jeremy Scott himself signed (he only saw 100 people that day so this would be a limited edition, pristine condition, in box) so if anyone is interested please get in touch ☺️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think it’s adorable, I expect nothing less from Moschino, && agreed all the negative reviews come from snobs…be open minded, this seems like its will be a nice safe fragrance that will prob be a big hit with the younger crowds. 🙂

  37. :

Even though I agree with @preferrarine, what matters here is the fragrance, I have to say that packaging is indeed an important part of the whole fragrance experience. If it wasn’t, houses wouldn’t put that much effort on it. That being said,it amazes me how people find decapitating a bear unsettling. This is by no means the first fragrance that has you to decapitate the packaging to access the juice inside. Purr and Meow come to mind, as well as the Nicky Minaj flacons.
So, as @almondbreakfast states it, it’s Moschino’ s prerogative to be playful,we just have to enjoy the ride!

I think Jeremy is a genius!
Like it or not, it changes the game in the history of Fragrance packaging. It’s very refreshing after seeing all the boring and low quality flacon glass in the market in the last 10 years. Take Kenzo, their flacon used to be so beautifully crafted, now not anymore. At least Moschino stays true to their quirky fun philosophy.
I think it’s a very smart way of marketing, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Just like diamond encrusted Clive Christian, svarovki encrusted Bond No 9 perfumes or some special edition Laliques. Anything wrong with those? Not at all.
If it’s an Hermes, that plush toy would be a big NO NO.
But if looks fun and quirky,.. it’s Moschino, ya’ll.. So, Go Jeremy!

Is this a coincidence or what? I had a headache from too much thinking over what to get for my little cusin? and now this fragrance came from nowhere. what a wonderful surprise. I’ll update if I could find it.

I can just imagine this on the counter and the sales associate explaining it, ” yeah, you just pull the head RIGHT OFF!” Or a customer coming back and saying, “I lost the head, do you have an extra one?”
Just imagine the head sitting there on the counter beside the body, staring at you while you’re in bed… No bueno, no bueno. LOL

I can see this doing well during Christmas. Regardless of the smell it’ll probably sell like hotcakes during the holiday season and Valentine’s day due to the bear.
